Seriously, this trilogy ROCKS! (I know, I know…but I couldn’t resist! )
At the beginning of Rock Redemption, things are crazy upside down, and the that’s what the first part of this conclusion does – resolves the insanity that happened at the end of Rock Reclaimed. I have to say that the action here is top notch. Aidan Roth and his team are on the job and whew, those guys are badass! I want an entire series dedicated to just them. *Hint Hint* Anyway, then onto the emotional part and Ian and Zoe’s story plays out. But not just Ian and Zoe’s. This isn’t just about Ian’s redemption – everyone is having to come to terms with their new reality with new people in the mix and how to figure out their new dynamic, both familial and rockstar.
Cari and Taryn’s rockstar reads are some of my favorite reads of all time, but I really think this trilogy is some of their best writing to date. Ian and Simon in particular, are such special characters. Multi-layered, especially Ian, endlessly fascinating, and getting their backstory just makes them all the more accessible and likable. Yep, that’s right, I said Ian was likable, because here in the conclusion, he is, more than likable in fact, LOVABLE actually! His redemption is a beautiful thing to read and by the end I am not ashamed to say that I had shed more than a few tears. I never thought it would happen, but I fell for the bad boy anti-hero in Ian. And fell further for Simon and Nicky and Margo and Li too. What can I say? These rockstars are fucking amazing!
But before I end this review, I have to leave off with a little word about the most mysterious, interesting character of Cari and Taryn’s – Lord Donovan. He of the posh British accent and piles of money. Every little detail that I read of him makes me even more impatient to get my greedy little eyes on his story. I hope it’s coming SOON!!!!
I loved watching Ian grow and come into his own, learn how to interact with people, and make friends. He figures his stuff out (with help from new friends). It is a great conclusion to this series and really wraps pretty much everything up. We definitely get a bit of Oblivion too. Simon and Margo are very important to this story. It truly is Redemption with a love story on the way.
In this conclusion of the Rock Revenge Trilogy, Margo, Simon and Zoe must deal with the consequences of Ian’s role in the plot to extort money from his brother. The beginning of this book is fast-paced, tension-filled and had me furiously turning the page until I found out what would happen to Margo and Simon.
I absolutely loved this part of the book, especially Donovan, Lila and Nick. I can never get enough of these characters, and I adored the scenes of friendship and love between Nick and Simon. Their relationship had some ups and downs through the series, so it was great to see Nick’s heartfelt support to both Simon and Margo.
The rest of the book deals with Ian and how he deals with the aftermath of everything. I don’t want to spoil this, so I’m being a bit vague. Ian has a lot to work through and he does so with the help of his new friend Flynn, and I really want to know more about him and I think there’s a nice setup for future books, at least I hope so!
For the most part, I liked Ian’s journey of self discovery, although sometimes he did seem a little too sensitive, but I suppose that’s his artist soul shining through. He is also very tenacious, which was a nice touch when it came to Zoe.
HEA’s all around, and great journey getting there. My only wish was that there was more Margo and Simon in the second half, but that’s just me.
So overall, another satisfying and entertaining trilogy from these two authors. If you enjoy rock star romances, you MUST read this series and their precursor, Lost in Oblivion. You won’t be sorry.
An ARC was provided for review.
A great conclusion to an amazing trilogy!
I was pulled into the suspense immediately in the first chapter. Like Simon, Ian had to learn to rise from the ashes of where he’d come from to become someone great as he learned self acceptance. Zoe was strong enough to give Ian the tough love he needed to move forward and fight for their future, which made her the perfect match for him. And I LOVED getting more of Simon & Margo as they too begin a new chapter in their lives.
WOW! What an emotional ride this book is! This book is the conclusion of the trilogy and it does not disappoint. I was very happy to have my many questions answered. As usual, great character development, amazing writing and so much hotness that we always expect in our rock star books! I cannot say enough good things about this book. This is yet another great read from 2 of my very favorite authors!
The conclusion of the Rock Revenge Trilogy will not leave you disappointed. I couldn’t wait to find out the answers to all my questions from the first two books. Cari and Taryn, as always, make you feel like you are part of the Oblivion/Warning Sign. You feel their pain and their joys. I loved Ian and Chloe and hope there is more on the way. Would love to learn more about Ian’s band.
Rock Redemption is the third book in the Rock Revenge Trilogy and it is NOT A STANDALONE! The first two books must be read prior to this one so if you haven’t read them yet….. STOP and go back to the beginning.
With that out of the way, Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott pretty much tore my heart out from the first page then slowly put it back together again. Rock Redemption picks up right where Rock Reclaimed left off and it is heartstopping! Danger and suspense will put you on the edge of your seat until that initial scenario is resolved. Then comes the long, torturous redemption of Ian Kagen who must claw his way back up from rock bottom. And claw, he does! The fallout from his past is huge but he is a Kagen after all so he begins to put the pieces of his life back together and while it’s a battle, our fallen hero rises to the task. As he fights for his life, his career, his family and his love, we see a new man emerge and I loved every moment of it!
Rock Redemption once again has multiple POV’s and Quinn and Elliott give their readers everything they want with this story. There are amazing plotlines for all of our Oblivion favorites and new characters who I hope we’ll meet again in future stories (hello, Zoe’s hunky farmer brothers!). Rock Redemption was the perfect end to a fabulous trilogy!
4.5 stars Rock Redemption is the epic conclusion to the Rock Revenge trilogy and immediately picks up where book 2, left off with a lot of action in the beginning. I felt like I was on a roller coaster of emotions – sadness, heartache, love, happiness, and hope. The Kagan boys’ mother is something else! Many times over, my heart broke for Ian. Zoe is still a very likable heroine who loves Ian deeply, but is that enough? Those two were on a path to self discovery, but would they be on that path together? The authors do a great job of making it feel like I was experiencing all of Simon’s emotions – the love, panic, anger, and helplessness. It was intense and I could just feel his desperation. It was great to see that Simon and Margo still have that amazing chemistry and all encompassing love between them. Nicky, as always, is the most supportive friend and Lila can certainly hold a grudge!
The 1st third of the book mostly focuses on Simon (and the mystery/suspense with Margo) while the rest of the book was mostly from Ian and Zoe’s POV. Because this is the 3rd book in a trilogy, you must read the previous 2 books. Simon and Margo as well as Nicky and Lila are very prominent in the Rock Revenge series so I also recommend (but not completely necessary) reading the Lost in Oblivion and Found in Oblivion series first. Overall, I felt that this was a great conclusion to Ian’s and Zoe’s story. I enjoyed watching how Simon, Margo, Ian, and Zoe all evolved as characters and I loved learning more about Flynn. The book moved at a good pace and kept me entertained until the very end. I received this book for free and I voluntarily leave this review.
4.5 stars–ROCK REDEMPTION is the third and final instalment in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, adult, erotic romance ROCK REVENGE Trilogy focusing on up and coming rock star Ian Kagan, and artist / photographer Zoe Manning. ROCK REDEMPTION should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book two Rock Reclaimed. ROCK REDEMPTION and the Rock Revenge Trilogy are a spin-off from the authors’ LOST IN OBLIVION series, and as such several characters cross-over for cohesion and back story.
NOTE: If you have not read the previous instalments, there may be some spoilers in my review.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Zoe and Ian) and third person perspective (Margo) ROCK REDEMPTION follows in the wake of potential disaster as Margo Kagan, Simon’s wife goes missing, and the events that follow pit brother against brother as Ian must reveal the truth about his past, and the on-going battle between head and heart. As life begins to spiral out of control, Ian finds himself walking away from everything in order to protect the woman he loves, and the family he has never known. As Zoe, Simon and Margo struggle with the truth, Ian must make amends but not before forgiving himself.
Ian Kagan has always been the ‘spare to the heir’; never good enough, and definitely not his rock star brother Simon. Having learned at an early age that he would never amount to the stardom of the brother he never knew, Simon quickly fell onto hard time, and the resulting aftermath has found our hero struggling with what happened and why.
Zoe Manning is Lila Shawcross’ cousin. Lila is an executive at Ripper Records, and in this Lila struggles with Zoe’s attraction to a man who could very well destroy Simon and the band. As Zoe embarks on a journey of reflection, she must come to a decision about her future with or without the man that she loves.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters: Simon and Margo; Nick and Lila: Donovan Lewis, several members of the band Oblivion (Deacon, Gray and Jazz), and the Ian Kagan Band (Grant, Lark and Perry); music producer Rory Ferguson, country rock-star Flynn Sheppard, Ian’s manager Sabrina, and as well as the introduction of Zoe’s brothers (Beck, Justin and Hayes), parents Sarah and Christopher Manning, and Lila’s mother and Zoe’s aunt Laverne. The requisite evil has many faces. I am hoping for a story between Sabrina and Flynn.
ROCK REDEMPTION is a story of family and friendship, struggle and acceptance, lies and betrayal, falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is startling, wondrous, emotional and revealing; the romance struggles in the face of secrets and lies; the characters are broken, colorful, sassy and wounded. ROCK REDEMPTION is an amazing conclusion to the Rock Revenge Trilogy.
WOW!!! Rock Redemption is phenomenal. This book had me going through so many different emotions. I had my heart broken and cried ugly tears, found forgiveness and love. This is truely one of the best book I have read. Captivating and heartrenching and absolutely beautifully written, this is a must read.
