Why should I, when I already have so much to attend to at home?
But Dad convinces me to go check out the situation, just to make sure everything’s cool.
And when I do, I find out that Fate can move a proverbial mountain to soften a stubborn man’s stony heart.
This is an older-man, younger-woman, First Time, insta-everything romance! No cheating, no cliff-hanger, and of course, a lovely HEA! If you like authors such as Flora Ferrari, Jenika Snow, Frankie Love or Alexa Riley, you’ll want to give this one a read!!
Mmmm-mmm! I sure do loves me some Mountain Men! <3 >.< <3

Zoey has escaped her aunt finally, after ages 14 to 19 being mentally abused by her after her mother died. Now she is heading to the other side of Canada to her grandparents cabin in the Canadian Rockies. The last leg of the journey was helped by hitching a ride from a friend of her grandfather. Once home, he sends his son Rock to check on her and make sure it is all okay that she is there. The characters are heartwarming as they learn about each other. The storyline is a wonderful tale of finding love and support in the last place you expect it. Loved the easy romance that develops and the intense feelings and emotions. Really liked the phrase – Holy Melting Heart, Batman! – right in the middle of a tender moment. The neighbors were terrific support, too and good friends by the end. Great ending with it all coming together in regards to the aunt.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Zoey has suffered much abuse and loss in her young life. She is a strong and determined young woman and that gets her to safety in the mountains. Rock and his father live close to Zoey. Rock is talking into going to see her and he falls hard and fast. Neither trust easily, but the connection they feel made it easier. I enjoyed their story

Zoey-Bird finds her Rock
Rock Mountain Man is the sixth book in the Men on a Mission series and is about Zoey and Rock with the Canadian Rockies as the setting. Zoey is nineteen years old and have run from her abusive Aunt Izzy who she had been living with for the last five years since her mother died. She takes the train out west from Toronto to the town of Kamloops, BC. as she wants to get to her grandpa’s cabin. It takes a couple of more days to get find a ride out of town and to Portage Pass in the Rocky Mountains. This last leg of the trip she ends up getting a ride from an older man, Burt, who was a friend of her grandpa. Zoey’s mother had made sure that the cabin and land were protected from Izzy as they were meant to go to Zoey, along with some money. Zoey is ready to start living her life on her own terms and then figure out what she wants to do next, as the cabin is not meant for winter. The man that Zoey got a ride from lives on a neighboring piece of property with his son, Rock. So when he gets back to his own place he finds Rock busy chopping wood. He tells Rock about the young woman he gave a ride to and tell him to go check on her. Rock is not happy about this but his father insists, even telling him to get cleaned up first. It seems his father may have a plan with a twinkle in his eyes as when Rock sees Zoey for the first time he is smitten and that is before he even says a word to her.
This is an enjoyable story with wonderful characters. The story-line has some drama, humor, romance, family, friends and of course some smexy chemistry.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Rock and Zoey and does not let go. After being hurt, Rock has sworn off women, however, when Zoey arrives on the mountain he knows that he must protect and help her.

The sixth book in the Men on a Mission series a well written story by an Author I have not read before. I now want to read the rest of the books in this series. I enjoyed reading Zoey and Rock’s story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Here is a really good mountain man story! I only wish I had read the previous five also!!! That can still be remedied! This story, howver, is absolutely smashing. The storyline is good, the characters are good and the villain as well. But oh boy!! Did I need a tissue… the question is if it is a one tissue story or three??? Well, that each has to find out for themselves. I am a total wuss when it comes to certain matters and my heart broke many times for our heroine in this story. This story is really well deserving of the four stars I am giving it here and I can only say that I look forward to reading more by this author.

This is the second book I’ve read in Kate Gilead’s Men on a Mission series. I was impressed by Fireworks: A Dad’s Best Friend Romance and was looking forward to reading this book. Zoey is an orphan, she lives with her overbearing, verbally and emotionally abusive aunt until she is able to escape her cruel viselike grip on her life. She flees to the mountains, to an abandoned cabin left to her by her mother. Here she meets Rock, handsome, strong, jaded, not looking for a relationship and most certainly not looking for love. Living his best life in his mountain paradise, lacking for nothing. Until of course, Zoey appears to wreak havoc on his peaceful existence, forced to extend a neighborly helping hand to his new neighbor, Rock begins to fall and fall hard. The premise of this story had me very much interested but unfortunately there were things like Zoey’s naive and sheltered upbringing that didn’t ring true to me and that really didn’t convince me and as for Rock, he wasn’t the exaggerated-over-the-top Alpha male I was expecting and needing for someone like Zoey. All in all a good book. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

Finally five years after her mother died, Zoey made it – on her own — to her Grampa’s cabin in the Canadian Rockies. It wasn’t an easy trip. It took time to build up courage to escape from Isobel Krogan (“Aunt Izzy”) in the downtown crowd, get to the train station for the 3-day trip out West, then another 3 scary nights standing on the street corner in the town of Kamloops until she could find a ride to Portage Pass. Fortunately a local who knew Gramps was willing to take her there, not even accepting gas money.
When Zoey lost her mother, she had a rough time of it with her Aunt Izzy. Fortunately her mother had protected the money and her grandfather’s cabin so that Zoey would get her inheritance. She had also secretly prepared Zoey from the age of 14 for what she would need to do. When her mom died, she had given Zoey a key to a Toronto bank deposit box in Zoey’s name and written instructions on where to go when she was ready. Though only 18, Zoey was now prepared to start her new life on her own.
The cabin was small but built extremely well. She had lots to dust and clean, but there was a bunk-bed, chairs, and a table, along with a quality pot-bellied wood stove to keep her warm in the winter. She got the pump working, the stove was warming up the cabin nicely, the bed was made and ready for her – she just needed to find the outhouse, but she fell asleep before she could get out of the bed and walk to the door.
Rock was chopping wood he would use in the winter. His dad came by to tell him about the young woman he gave a ride to, and asked his son to go check her out. She could be a squatter, for all they knew! So Rock finally agreed to go when his father wouldn’t give up. Zoey was able to circle around and sneak up on him, and he was impressed by that and by how attractive she was. Rock normally tried to avoid woman because of a very bad relationship, but Zoey’s sweetness and innocence lowered his defenses. Will his dad get his wish that the two of them might get together? Grandchildren are a priority, after all! But will Aunt Izzy track her down and put her in danger as Zoey fears?
I really enjoyed this book! The author takes the reader on an up-close examination of the cabin as Zoey explores and thinks through what she needs to do, what she has on-hand, and what she will need and why. She prioritized all of the work she would need to accomplish for her first night and the rest. It was like a survival manual and I loved it! The book was well-written, had a nice flow to it, an intriguing story line, and good pacing. The characters had interesting backgrounds and personalities, with Zoey being my favorite. Her courage and determination were inspiring! And Rock and his Dad were probably the best neighbors you could ever find! Nice people and a good story – what more could you want?
Great storyline! I love how Zoey and Rock meet up and are both leery and yet drawn to each other at the same time. Strong characters that keep you hooked. Love the ending.
Her mother dies an she ends up living with her aunt who is abusive and crazy. She handles it until she is 18 and gets out of there to go to Canada and her grandfather’s cabin. Well the neighbor’s dad picks her up hitchhiking and gives her a ride there. His son is sent over to help her but is standoffish because of a bad relationship. Can he get rid of his baggage and she be braver. Exciting, emotional, suspenseful and so much more. I received a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.
When Zoey lost her mother her life of hell began. She was fortunate that her mother had prepared her after she died and when Zoey turned eighteen, she escaped her crazy aunt to live in her grandfather’s cabin. There she met Rock who was skeptical of women thanks to a bad relationship. There was an innocence about Zoey that drew him in. They had a lot in common like losing their mother and living on the mountain. Will this be the beginning of a meaningful relationship that can end with happily ever after?

GREAT Story!
I enjoyed this read the storyline was amazing with a bit of a pull of my heartstrings. Captivating, edgy, hot, intense at times hard to put down with an enjoyable ending.
OMG Kate. I do believe you are trying to kill me with delicious must read!
This story is about Zoey, who, at nineteen, is extremely world-innocent & scared of her own shadow due to her upbringing.
She manages to escape her past & musters the courage to leave the States for a much quieter existence in Canada.
Enter Rock. He is somewhat jaded by his past, but still has a bright outlook on life. His Dad, Burt, brought Zoey up the mountain after finding her hitch-hiking & asks Rock to check in on her to see if she is ok.
He stumbles upon her, quite literally & instantly falls for her, even though she threatens his life!
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone – It is a sweet, beautiful story that had my heart clenching & warming equally. The characters I found to be extremely lovable & I couldn’t help but get swept away by their relationship.
Well done Kate. Another eloquently written masterpiece in my opinion. I look forward to more!

Zoey is one brave girl to breakout of a difficult situation that she has been under for many years. Once she finally escapes she meets Rock, who shows her nothing but kindness and respect. This had such a positive storyline with growth in love and spirit, loved the ending, believing in karma.
