I am not a victim. At least that’s what I wanted to believe. What I wanted the world to see. Five years of trying to find the girl I hid from the world. I wouldn’t let the bullies win. I couldn’t. What was I supposed to do when he walked into the building? He’d made my high school years a living hell. But, he doesn’t recognize me.How do I prove he didn’t break me? Simple, take him home for a … break me? Simple, take him home for a one-night stand.
At least it sounded like a good idea at the time.

I loved Mari and Cole. He was friends with all the wrong people in high school and she thought of him as a bully. He was blind to her back then. He was one of her worst memories, so she takes him home for one wild night and everything changes. The more they learn about each other, the more they realize they had everything wrong as they fall in love. But her new fame, and one unexplained moment in their past may tear them apart.
Rock me
Mari had been bullied in high school but now she was the lead singer of Jaded Ivory and on the cusp of fame and fortune. She’d come a long way from that frumpy girl the guys on the football team bullied. Cole had been a star football player in high school but an injury had cost his the NFL dream. Still he stayed close to the game by being a coach at the high school and life went on. At least everything was fine until his friend dragged him to a club to see a show. The goddess who stood there singing had his full attention.
When he tried to speak to her at the bar she tossed her drink at him and walked away. He’d been rejected before but he’d done nothing to her to warrant this type of reaction. And so it begins with these two. I’m totally hooked by what’s going on with these two people. I love the way the author lets us read what went on in high school and back to the present. I know Cole was a jerk in high school but I like him in the present. Mari and Cole have more then history, they have chemistry. Mari with Sawyer’s help became through the years became a better stronger woman but with Cole she opened up and became magnificent. This story was awesome and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m giving it five stars and highly recommending it. Now I’m going to read the next book.
It has been a while since I read a female rocker book and I am so glad I chose this one to jump back in. I loved it. I just love a chick that can rock out, especially when she is the leader of the band!
I was completely sucked in.
Mari overcame her past or she thought she did until it come walking back into her life and turned things upside down for her. The flashbacks to her torment were heartbreaking. What she endured during high school was awful and just knowing kids face that crap every day made me so mad reading it.
Cole is not a bully anymore, but he was at one time. Though he was not the leader of the pack, he didn’t do anything to stop it and now lives with the guilt of his actions. He still sees the aftermath of what happens to the children on the receiving end of bullying at the school he works at. He will do anything to stop the circle of abuse.
Mari and Cole had me completely sucked in to their story.
Can Mari forgive a bully?
Can a bully be redeemed?
Can the tormenter and the tormented find middle ground?
Beyond a rocker story, this is a story of redemption, forgiveness and a fantastic message about bullying; kids need to know their actions do not stop in high school. Those mental scars last a lifetime.
Mari has remade herself and thought her past and the pain it holds is behind her until he walks into her life again. Cole sees an amazing woman on stage singing and he has to know her. This is a story of overcoming a past that broke you and brought you nothing but pain. Great story of love and letting go of the pain that traps you. Mari is such a strong character even though she fights her demons daily to be the strong person she is today. Cole regrets who he used to be, but is trying to be a man that he can be proud of. I really enjoyed this story, even the parts that were hard to read.
