In New York Times Bestselling author Nalini Singh’s newest contemporary romance, passion ignites between a gorgeous, sinfully sexy man who built himself up from nothing and a shy woman who has a terrible secret in her past… Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and … and he’ll go after it no-holds-barred. And what he wants is Charlotte Baird. Charlotte knows she’s a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO–a brilliant, broad-shouldered T-Rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake–clearly has other plans. Plans that may be equal parts business and bedroom. If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on. All books/novellas in this series can be read as standalones.

Love T Rex and the Mouse!
Nalini is a wonderful author , but I love this contemporary option. Is book one in the series. I love the location as it is the city I was born and raised but haven’t lived in for a number of years. So the descriptions in the book brought back memories and could picture where these well written characters were so enhanced the booked for me. Warning it is also a page tuner so make sure you have time when you start!
Another great read from Nalini Singh!
The whole rock series is excellent; wonderful author. Fabulous characters.
loved the story
As much a I wanted to read Charlie and T-Rex story after being introduced to them in Molly’s book, I don’t think it should be part of the Rock series.
As for the story itself… it was entertaining. I loved Gabe for her. I also loved her growth and development. Though the ending was cutesy, I expected something a bit more romantic from him.
Overall great book.
It should have been called Charlie and the T-Rex!! I laughed, I sighed, I enjoyed. I thought it was a great handling of Charlotte’s struggles from the results of trauma to being a strong, resilient, fully functioning woman, and the large part Gabriel played. Wonderful!!

Good read. Well written. Sweet romance. A little ‘Naughty’.
Nalini Singh is one of my favorite authors. Her ‘Guild Hunter’ series & ‘Psy/Changeling’ series being my most favorite.
I wont say I love the ‘Rock Kiss’ series, but I do like it & can honestly recommend it to all the ‘Romance’ lovers in the world.
I absolutely loved both of the main characters and the story even though my heart ached while reading it at times.
I really liked this book 🙂
I enjoyed meeting T-rex Aka Gabriel (he’s so yummy) i loved how he was able to bring Charlotte outta her shell , i loved that he would bring her sweets for being a demanded jerk sometimes , he was pushing her for a reason but i thought it was cute , i loved meeting his family (really hoping to get to read about them some more soon) .
I liked Charlotte from the start , i can relate to her being totally shy myself but i liked that when Gabriel pushes her she doesn’t back down , she leans to be more open to him and in the processes she learns to trust Gabriel someone she thought scared her both in a physical way and then in an emotional way later .
I loved their story 🙂
This is the story for all those readers who love to see a hero help a heroine overcome her scars and fear that were left over from a brutal attack.
Because of how broken Charlie was in the beginning, the romance is a very, slow burn. At first you just get to see Gabriel push and push Charlie in a professional way (boss/employee) to get the spark into her eyes. The more he made her mad, the more she forgot about being too shy and started biting back.
What you are really seeing is a beautiful man recognize the hurt in a woman who has caught his interest, and allowed her the time, the care, and the love to guide her past all her fear and anxiety. You see from the very beginning that he knew she was worth the wait.
That doesn’t mean you aren’t going to see some dirty talking alpha. Gabriel knew just how to nudge her towards the relationship he wanted to have with her without moving too fast, but also getting her used to the idea of him being more in her life. It made me love the guy more and more.
This book couldn’t be more different from the first book in the series and yet it had that same devotion I absolutely adore in a hero. I can’t wait to see what the author is going to do in the next book in the series.
Another win for Nalini Singh! I pretty much love anything this author writes, especially the Guild Hunter and Psy-Changeling series. This book was amazing at detailing the protagonist’s struggle with PTSD and how much actual effort and willpower it takes to work through it. Amazingly well-done. And Gabriel was hot and had his own brand of awesomeness. Great read.
I absolutely love Gabriel. Pitty I haven’t yet met my own Gabriel…
Love this series!! I cannot get enough! Ready for the next one!
T-Rex and the mouse…Gabe and Charlie are my favorite couple in the Rock series! The banter and emails..a succinct version of foreplay between them that made their chemistry bleed off the pages! I read with absolute anticipation Charlie could overcome her past to embrace a future with Gabe and the story did not disappoint!
Two of my favorite quotes by Gabriel:
“Yes, smart women were his catnip-and Charlotte Baird was very, very smart.”
“Ms. Baird, no one is good or bad at sex by themselves,” he drawled. “It’s a team effort, and you know I’m a team player.”
There’s nothing sexier than a man who appreciates a woman for her intelligence! This witty contemporary romance is a go-to favorite on my bookshelf- definitely recommended!
A very good read
great series
You’ll need tissues for this one.
The 2nd book in this series (the third I’ve read, as I read 1.5 before this one) is about Charlotte and Gabriel. We got to know Charlotte in the first book as she is Molly’s best friend. We knew from hints in that first book that Charlotte (aka Charlie) had been through something traumatic that she had leaned on Molly for support to get through, but we don’t get any details until this book. And it was HORRIFYING! I can’t even begin to imagine the emotional scars someone would have to live with after something like what Charlie lived through.
Enter Gabriel Bishop (aka T-Rex), who challenges Charlie to move forward with her life. The two work together and have a certain chemistry. I enjoyed watching the back and forth of the two and I especially enjoyed the author’s creative chapter titles.
Parts of the book were extremely difficult to read and very emotional as a survivor of abuse myself. However, nothing too terribly bad as to trigger me into an emotional meltdown. I do want to put that in my review though for those who might be triggered…there is, detailed at times, description of a trauma that might affect someone with abuse in their past.
I love that the thought of therapy in this book isn’t looked down on or joked about but is offered as a very serious and legitimate solution for someone going through mental anguish and trying to heal from scars that don’t show.
I recommend this book for fans of the first book, fans of the author, or people who enjoy contemporary romance that gets a bit steamy.
