Is it overreacting to knock someone down for groping you? Nell Whelan is a black belt whose self-protective instincts kick in hard when she’s uncomfortable. Then she arrives at her hated day job to find the handsome jerk from the pub kicking the photocopier, and finds out that he looks familiar because he’s actually the bass player for a famous rock band… but when she asks him what he’s doing … working for her boss, he avoids answering.
Eamonn Yarrow — known to the rock world as “Easy” — hasn’t always been a good person and he’s reaping the consequences, but maybe Nell is just what he needs to turn his life around. Is there someone worth knowing behind his arrogant stage persona? Will she lower her guard for a disgraced rock god?

I so loved these characters made up of a sassy woman that can literally kick some butt. Easy is a hot alpha base player that has no easy connection with Nell but keeps trying. These characters are engaging and well developed you can’t help but like them. The flow of the storyline is awesome.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
After enjoying Rock Star’s Heart so much I was excited to get the sequel, dove into it right away and was definitely not disappointed. Kella is a great story teller and her characters just jump off the pages at you and seem so realistic. We are introduced to Nell who uses her black belt in martial arts to take down a guy who had followed her to the women’s bathroom of a bar, so it was obvious from the beginning that this gal was not going to take crap from any guy who crossed her path. She is strong and determined to succeed but is it at the price of her happiness?
Imagine her surprise when the same guy turns up at her office, and not only that he is the nephew of the owner and the former bassist for Smidge. Eamonn (or better known as Easy) is working at his uncle’s office to stay under the radar following a rift with the band. Immediately it is obvious that Easy is going to be a thorn in Nell’s side and although she is attracted to him she is determined to not fall victim to Easy’s rock star charisma. Easy is smitten with her and is not going to give up easily and uses all his rock star charm to break down her barriers.
Enjoy the fireworks and be ready to fall in love with these two as they flirt, trade witty banter and become each other’s biggest supporter and the person they have been waiting for their whole lives.
This story will keep you riveted until the end enjoy! Although it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading Rock Star’s Heart, Kella’s first book.
The first book in this series was a bit rough around the edges, particularly when it came to the heroine, but overall I found it a satisfying start to this rock star fueled series. While this book is an improvement over the previous installment, courtesy of its delightfully imperfect hero, I still had problems with the heroine as her self-esteem issues overtook her life and kept her continually pushing the hero away. Theirs is a rocky road to HEA, but it’s a journey I was happy to have undertaken and that has me looking forward to the next installment.
From the outside Eamon “Easy” Yarrow looked like a rock star god, a self-obsessed playboy full of flirty one-liners. Behind the facade though is a man full of vulnerabilities, a man with a soft side slowly revealed throughout the story. When readers first see Easy in this story he’s at a very low point, living far differently than he thought he would. It’s a life that sees his human side come through and he charmed me. Meeting Nell was an unforgettable moment for him and the constant tug of war between them led him on a merry chase. Throughout their journey together Easy clearly grew as a man, became someone more real rather than a caricature. I wish though that we would’ve spent more time in his head as I would’ve liked to know more about him and his personal thoughts.
Nell Whelan was a tough nut to crack, tough to warm up to as she always seemed on guard. She was a master in martial arts and didn’t hesitate to let everyone know about her talent to keep others at arm’s length. She was a strong-willed woman, loyal and dedicated, but I wish she’d showed her softer side a bit more often. The interactions between her and Easy were entertaining on a whole and together they made it a journey with a bit of sweet and a lot of spice.
By the turn of the final page I was once again won over by this story set in the rock star world. The two leads were an entertaining dichotomy and their imperfections made me like them all the more in a romance that flowed at a nice pace. While things started out a bit slow early on the story ultimately raced to a satisfying conclusion that has me greatly anticipating where Ms. Campbell will take us next.
I always love an entertaining, original rockstar romance and this book definitely captured my attention with it’s engaging storyline and enchanting characters. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Eamonn “Easy” Yarrow, but this troubled soul completely won me over! This bass player is full of arrogance and is a magnetic force of nature, but there is also a hidden depth and vulnerability about him that I found endearing. He has these flirty one-liners that seems to ensnare many woman, but do nothing but irritate Nell. In fact, I love how she continually puts Easy in his place.
Nell is an interesting character and I loved how she is a martial arts expert who can bring a man to his knees – literally! She craves control and her dedication to both her sport and to a job that she loathes is admirable. While I liked Nell, I had a bit of trouble warming up to her at first. I felt that some of the female empowerment and some of the martial arts aspect was a bit repetitive, but for the most part, I appreciated how she was no wilting flower. I also would have liked a bit more of her backstory.
Nell’s and Easy’s first encounter was priceless! Trust me, you’ll love it! These two are an unlikely pair and seemingly different yet, they are perfect for each other. Nell’s no nonsense personality is the opposite of Easy’s which made several of their interactions entertaining. The author did a great job with character growth with them as individuals as well with the evolution of their relationship. I really enjoyed watching their journey unfold.
Rock God in Exile is told from the POV of Nell which I think was fitting for the most part, but I would have enjoyed a few chapters from Easy’s POV. I always love to get a little peak into the mind of hero. I was very pleased to see the other members of Smidge and I enjoyed the dynamic between Nell, Easy, and all of the secondary characters. The story moves at a relatively good pace, but I feel like things really picked up towards the last half of the book. Rock God in Exile is this author’s second novel and I have to say that I am impressed with her writing skills. The story is compelling and the words flow flawlessly to the extent that she seems to be a much more experienced writer. I can only imagine just how amazing her next book will be. This is a standalone romance is set in the world of Smidge, but I do recommend that read book 1, Rock Star’s Heart because it is that good. Overall, if you are looking for an engaging rockstar romance with likable, well developed characters and a solid storyline, then you will definitely want to check out this book!
I’ve been patiantly waiting for the book since Rock Stars Heart ( if you’ve not read it go check it out) so I had grabby hands and went straight in on this one.
Eammon- I loved this guy from the first moment he opened his mouth, sweet, sassy and stubborn, he also slips into Easy way to smoothly. ( I loved the asshole transition).
He made a mistake and was paying the ultimate price for it, it seemed like he thorght the whole world owed him something at first but as the story continued I fell for him hook, line and sinker!
Nell – Hated the job that she was doing but it was a stepping stone for what she really wanted to do, she wasnt looking for anyone she was miss independent and didnt need anyone or anything. I loved her sassy mouth and kick ass attitude.
This story is EVERYTHING, I LOVED it so hard and cant wait for more from kella
