Indy Savage, cop’s daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest and Indy finally gave up. Now Indy’s employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of diamonds and bad guys are … shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee is forced to help. Complicting matters, Lee has decided he’s interested, Indy’s decided she’s not. But she can’t seem to keep Lee out of her life when she’s repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are car bombs exploding (not to mention she’s finding dead bodies).
Indy’s best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee’s challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her heart.

Absolutely awesome. Love the entire series!
There are several reasons that I was disappointed with this book.
The heroine usually overreacted. It would have been wonderful to see a woman acting rationally. Her “fits” became tiresome. The book was too long. Some of the characters were unbelievable.
Similar to Janet Evanovich stories. It was funny and quick read but dragged out a bit.
Love this series and everything by Kristen Ashley
Great book — hot hot hero, spectacular heroine, kidnappings, murders, explosions, and amidst it all so many smiles, giggles, guffaws.
After this book, I had to get and read ALL the books about the Rock Chicks. There are very few books that have me sitting alone in a room by myself in full laughter! These books do that. Love them all!
I fell in love with the characters in the Rock Chick series. Each book highlights another member of their group. Don’t let the title make you think this is about rock bands, it is so not. Just a great bunch of friends that make up an unusual extended family that gets into fun trouble!
This was so fantastic! It had just about everything I could have asked for. Seriously entertaining! There was humor, hotness, and drama.
I all of Kristen Ashley’s series and have bought them all. Everyone needs a-hero or heroine in their lives and sometimes a little bit if escapism. I lived in a suburb of Denver for 17 years and enjoyed the friends and extended family I collected there. Those Rock Chicks remind me of our closeknit Cul-de-sac neighbours and our cocktail and street parties, restaurant and pub nights. They are beautiful people inside and out and made my expat life exciting and fun being included in all their life’s dramas.
I am now on #5 in the series. I finish one I have to get the next immediately. Need I say more?
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves interesting and sometimes twisted characters and a great storyline, wit some romance and the right amount of suspense. Kristin Ashley is one of my favorite authors, and she definitely did not disappoint in this one, which is the beginning of a fabulous series. No cliffhanger which really makes me happy!
If you like alpha males with stubborn free will woman stories, Kristen Ashley is a must read. The Rock Chick series has a lot of everything. They are funny with a side of action and a dollop of steamy.
I enjoy books which move along. This one did. I also like the dialogue between the characters.
One thing you do throughout this book is laugh hard. As I’ve learned from reading Kristen Ashley books she always has a great cast of characters and a very strong comradery between friends and family. They are what makes these stories so great along with the H/h.
Rock Chicks doesn’t have the uber alpha men nor the steaminess that the Dream Man and Unfinished Hero series does but it has plenty of other things that make up for it. Loved the ride from beginning to end.
Reread in 2018
This year I made a book resolution, the plan is to read all of Kristen Ashley’s books. I have read many books of her but certainly not all of them. And being a slow reader I know that it will take me more than a year to through them all but I’m looking forward to it.
I also decided to start with the debut book (the first series) that Kristen Ashley wrote, namely ‘Rock Chick’. I had read this book before in the past and just like the first time that I read it, I can say that I enjoyed it although it isn’t one of my favorites of her. There are other books of KA that I love much more than this one. But knowing that this is the first book that she wrote, I have to say that it’s good. The writer told it herself many time and I have to agree this story (series) is over the top!
In the books (series) that she wrote after this one, her writing style is still the same (sassy women and alpha men) but the stories have more depth and are a bit less over the top.
The story is told from Indy’s POV. This story has really a bit of everything in it. A hot alpha man, a curvy, mouthy, sassy woman with a best friend that is just as wild. A nosy but loyal family and many crazy friends who love adventures. There’s also some kidnapping, shooting and other things happening too. This book is a wild adventure and I can understand that it isn’t for everyone.
Rock Chick is the first in the Rock Chick series and introduces us to a world of sexy private investigators/security experts at Nightingale Investigations and the girl squad referred to as the Rock Chicks. This story is that of Lee and Indy. Indy’s been in love with Lee since she was 5 years old, and Lee’s sister is Indy’s best friend, so their worlds have always been intertwined. While we get to watch their relationship develop, we’re also introduced to a whole world of characters and shenanigans. This entire series is a really fun ride, and something I’ve read multiple times.
Couldn’t put this series down. Have re read many times.
This book is a typical feel good erotic romance with a nice mystery thrown in. The main character is a feisty and independent young woman who doesn’t give up that independence easily like so many other romance heroines. There are quite a few explicit sex scenes, and several more near-sex scenes. There is some gore, but it’s not too detailed. The characters can feel a little flat compared to other authors, but they are still easy to root for. The mystery really isn’t much of a mystery, but there are kidnappings and misunderstandings and hilarious hijinks aplenty. An entertaining, feel good read with quite a bit of spice to it.
FB Review: This book is an erotic (read: explicit sex scenes) comedy romance with a little mystery thrown in. Our feisty heroine runs a book store she inherited from her beloved grandmother. She pals around with her BFF since birth, and ends up in crazy situations when she gets into trouble and winds up spending a lot of time with her BFFs brother, who she’s had a crush on since, like forever. Hilarity and hijinx ensue. This is a fun, spicy book with a feisty heroine that doesn’t lose her sense of independence. A light, spicy read.
Loved the characters. The dialog was real and the plot had a few twists. Loved that it was a role reversal when Lee was sure what he wanted and Indy had to work through issues even though she knew loved him.
