Indy Savage, cop’s daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest and Indy finally gave up. Now Indy’s employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of diamonds and bad guys are … shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee is forced to help. Complicting matters, Lee has decided he’s interested, Indy’s decided she’s not. But she can’t seem to keep Lee out of her life when she’s repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are car bombs exploding (not to mention she’s finding dead bodies).
Indy’s best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee’s challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her heart.

Sparkle Hayter and Janet Evanovich fans looking for something fresh will find it in this series.
2019-It’s been a bit since I’ve read Indy and Lee’s story and thought I’d give it another whirl. This time around, even though Indy still drove me nuts, she kind of grew on me:)
I’m all for strong female characters, however, Indy lacked common sense and had so many frustrating, flaky moments…ugh..Lee deserves a trophy for the sheer amount of patience required to deal with her immaturity and impulsiveness! I liked her..but didn’t..if that makes any sense. She wasn’t as deep as Lee even though she had more page time.
Now Lee, I liked Lee. He had the bad ass vibe down pat, along with a sharp eye and keen emotional intelligence. His character had a lot more depth than I was expecting, but I enjoyed the surprises! I do think his indulgence for Indy’s antics was more to save his sanity than anything else though. He had his work cut out for him in bringing Indy around to the idea a relationship with him.
I liked most parts of ROCK CHICK. The suspense piece with the mob got lost in the shuffle of Indy’s bad decision making, however, comedic moments, great friends, nosey family, and *ahem* man candy galore, made up for minor plot nuisances.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I like the storyline and have always enjoyed a strong heroine but Indy annoyed me. She couldn’t even follow a simple instruction. No matter how many dangers she faced, right after she would do the opposite of what Lee said to do. It was like dealing with a child. He really would do anything for her, just wish she would have done the same for him.
This started my love of Kristen Ashley and her books. She’s an amazing ambassador to the romance world and her books will transport you to another place with every page turn.
Hilarious! That’s the first word that comes to mind. The story was excellent- kept me engaged until the pages flew by! The characters, especially the female lead, were absolutely hysterical. I really enjoyed all of the secondary characters too- made me want to join the party too! Such a good story! Love Kristen Ashley’s books!!
One of the best series EVER!!!! Love Kristen Ashley and I’ll read anything she writes! Start with the 1st book in the series for the most enjoyment!! Just be prepared because you won’t be able to put them down once you get hooked on the “Hot Bunch” Lol!!
I LOVED the whole Rock Chick series. Gobbled them up! Luckily for me, I found them “late in life” meaning there were four books already written, so after reading the first book, I bought the other three and by the time I was done the other was just two months from being released (always subscribe to your favorite author’s newsletter). With that being said, these heros and heroines are wonderful to read and you wish you could meet the guys and hang with the girls. I would definately recommend this series. Yes, ALL the books. You will not regret a single moment spent in Rock Chick world!
One of my favorites in the series
I love how they have a history and that they grew up liking each other.
Indy’s escapades are so out of this world, crazy is not enough to describe her antics. She is wild and stubborn. Rock Chick to the core with an innocence I cant pin point..
As for Lee, he is one badass the way he was describe physically He was also mysterious you’ll be so intrigue. I love how protective he is but not controlling. Well I just love Lee
The way Kristen describes her creations are fascinating as you’ll really want to picture them in your head. The story is superb and addictive.. A big thumbs up
Favorite lines from the book:
“Rule Number One in the India Savage Life Code: When in doubt or possible trouble, lie.”
“For what it’s worth, I’ll share my intentions. You and me, we aren’t practice for the real thing. It isn’t that too much is at stake with family and friends, it’s because I love you. You’re funny, beautiful and you care about people. I like the way you look at me, especially when you think I don’t notice it. I like that we have history and our kids will have a big family and share that history because there was never a time when their Mom and Dad weren’t together. If you were a terrible lay, I might have second thoughts but you and I are dynamite together. I intend to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you. If that freaks you out, tough, because now we’ve started this, there’s no goin’ back.” (less)
There is nothing to compare the Rock Chicks too. I love them You will fall in love with each and every one of the Hot Bunch. Lee is unbelievable HOT and a strong Alpha man every woman wants. The way their relationship drags you in and hooks you, you just can’t get it enough. It has genuine humor, and an adventure as well. Each character comes alive calling for you to know more. But don’t worry you’ll get that fix in the next book in the series. As well as catch up from Lee and Ally. The ROCK CHICK Series by one of my Heros Kristen Ashley is a must read for all lovers of Romance. I have it on audible as well, I can never have enough Rock Chick’s.
Loved this series
~ Lee & Indy ~
Though it wasn’t my first KA book (shout out to Motorcycle Man!), it was the beginning of the end for me. It was my second KA book, and it was the one to prove the first wasn’t just a fluke by the author, but showed me that this woman knew how to write hot alpha men and seriously independent, head strong women.
This is also the start of my wanting to move out west!
Indy is crazy. And not just when seriously creepy men are stalking her, or when people are shooting at her, or when her hippy barista puts her life in danger. But you can see the craziness all the way back to childhood. And Lee has always been there to watch it. And love it.
I love how alpha Lee is. But even more, I love that Kristen Ashley takes what is stereotypical “alpha man” and turns it on its head. She shows that you can be an alpha man without sacrificing an inner soft guy. These big bad guys are gooey when it comes to their women. Okay, not when it’s their safety, but at all other times, they are big marshmallows.
Kristen Ashley is such a talented author. The Rock Chick series is so good, funny, each a great story of romance with diverse characters that you will fall in love with. I have read each of these books in the series multiple times.
The Rock Chicks never let you down. Their adventures are crazy, funny with sexy men tons of romance. I have read these books over and over again. They are keepers for sure. A definite recommend for a pick me up romance. A great read.
Have loved the whole Rock Chick series! so much fun to read with just enough suspense; lots of hunky alpha males and, of course, the Rock Chicks!
Read this a long time ago. Loved it the first time. Loving it about the third time. Hot Alpha Male, Lee. Bad @$$ female, Indy. I swear this could be a mini series.
Audiobook Edit: My first ever audiobook listen and I loved listening while doing boring tasks. Excellent narrator too!
I’ve read this book (and any others by Kristen Ashley) about a gazillion times and each time it keeps me up past my bedtime. That’s probably enough said about how awesome it is.
There’s something about Kristen Ashley’s books that work, in a way only she can manage. Sure, a person can focus on her unconventional writing style… but she delivers so much with it. The stories in this whole series are engaging and uplifting, her heroines are funny and full of heart and imminently likable, which very few writers pull off as well. This is a terrific series.
Favorite series! I LOVE THIS AUTHOR
LOL funny and great characters, what’s not to love!!
Lee, how do you describe his a**… well let’s just say he’s bossy, “you get in that bed yourself or I tie you to it.” He doesn’t like being hit so he does something about it, “because you were sleepin’ over there and you hit me in the chest twice and kicked me in the shin three times.” When the boy gets sick of something he voices his opinion, “I’m a bit tired of waiting and I’m definitely tired of your man parade.” Indy she puts cute in whatever she does and it’s entertaining, “jeez, we haven’t even slept together and already you don’t trust me.” Lee doesn’t have a lot of patience especially when he’s been wantin’ something really badly and that something happens to be Indy, “I don’t get a taste of you soon, I’m givin’ up the search and takin’ you to my cabin in Grand Lake. No phones, no cell coverage, no buzzer. Anyone knocks on the door and I’m shooting them.” He’s not particularly found of some of the things Indy wears in public, “yeah, I like it. If you’re wearin’ it in my kitchen while cookin’ steaks. I don’t like it when you’re wearin’ it sittin’ on a barstool and thirty guys are imagining your legs wrapped around their backs.” Good lord Lee is another alpha in the works of Kristen and I love it!
