“You may be faking the relationship, but you’re not faking the orgasms.”Downsized, broke, and dumped, 38-year-old Marley sneaks home to her childhood bedroom in the town she couldn’t wait to escape twenty years ago. Not much has changed in Culpepper. The cool kids are still cool. Now they just own car dealerships and live in McMansions next door. Oh, and the whole town is still talking about that … whole town is still talking about that Homecoming she ruined her senior year.
Desperate for a new start, Marley accepts a temporary teaching position. Can the girl banned from all future Culpepper High Homecomings keep the losing-est girls soccer team in school history from killing each other and prevent carpal tunnel in a bunch of phone-clutching gym class students?
Maybe with the help of Jake Weston, high school bad boy turned sexy good guy. When the school rumor mill sends Marley to the principal’s office to sign an ethics contract, the tattooed track coach, dog dad, and teacher of the year becomes her new fake boyfriend and alibi—for a price. The Deal: He’ll teach her how to coach if she teaches him how to be in a relationship.
Who knew a fake boyfriend could deliver such real orgasms? But it’s all temporary. The guy. The job. The team. There’s too much history. Rock bottom can’t turn into a foundation for happily ever after. Can it?
Warning: Story also includes a meet-puke, a bouffanted nemesis, a yard swan and donkey basketball, a teenage-orchestrated makeover, and a fake relationship that gets a little too real between the sheets.

Rock Bottom Girl is a book I think everyone can relate to no matter the reason. There is alittle something of something for all beating hearts no matter your race, gender, age or sexuality. Promise!
The character I enjoyed in this book the most besides the sexy Jake Weston was Marley Cicero. Marley was relatable to me from the very beginning. Reading about how she feels, her memories from high school, and pushing herself to be healthy and excercise is all me right now. Very encouraging and I appreciate when I can find a book like that to help self motivate me to be a better version of myself for me and others. This book is one of Lucy’s more lengthy reads but that is a positive for me! I enjoyed taking my time reading about small town Culpepper, PA and I did it as slow as I can because I knew from the beginning Lucy Score was going to deliver something amazing to her readers. With that said I’m happy Marley and Jake’s voice got tired of hiding in that big Lucy brain because where else are you going to read about a meet puke and donkey basketball?
Natalie is awesome!
This is a really good story, and much of a story too. It is surprisingly complex, well written and the message is clear. And I love the message. I also love the female narrator. She is worth her weight in gold and can read everything I listen to here after.
At first I felt like there were two authors writing the story. One writing for the female narrator, that was fun, witty and just brilliant. The perfect blend of realistic and humor. And another one writing for the male narrator, that author hadn´t gotten the memo about the story meant to be fun. Also the male narrator, while having a lovely voice, wasn´t right for the role. We are told the main male character is very masculine. When listening one can´t but wonder if he is gay. Actually that would have made more sense too. Given the status of 38 and never been in a relationship before.
Close to the end the story also does go a bit overboard. Or a lot. There is an overall preaching tone in the story as well. Which in my opinion damages a good story. In worst cases totally ruins it. Sad as this story had huge potential. Whole cast of lovable characters, wonderful take on working through bullying and large parts of excellent storytelling.
Loved loved loved this laugh out loud romantic comedy. The characters were well written, the plot realistic and full of fun.
This book is my happy place! Perfection. 6 stars. I cannot believe how awesomely amazing and entertaining this was. Rock Bottom Girl was everything I could have wanted and so much more. An absolutely stellar story and I had a blast reading it.
It had been a while since I was fully engrossed in a story, one that I couldn’t put down. I found that in Rock Bottom Girl. I love a small town romance. That has all the feels, and this story had it all.
Marley is at her rock bottom. Failed relationships, failed jobs, and now was homeless. She is having to move back to the small town she loathed so much. She doesn’t have many fond memories. Her high school life was torture, and it followed her throughout her life. Then she gets a chance, to do something she never thought she’d be good at. Also, there’s that hot rebel guy, and you know the one in high school. But now it’s over 20 years later.
Marley had a lot of things she had to confront. She always thought she wanted more, that she needed more in her life. But all of that “more” was in the place, that she never thought to look. This book made me laugh out loud, brought tears to my eyes, and had that ending you would hope for.
This is the first book I’ve read of Lucy’s, and I know it won’t be my last. I connected with the characters on a deeper level. The story held my attention from the beginning.
Of course, Five Boundless Stars.
“You’re the more i’ e Been looking for my entire life.”
This book checks all the boxes for me in a great romance novel. I laughed so hard and so often I had tears running down my face. The characters are so lovable that even the nemesis redeemed herself, and I couldn’t help but love her too. I adore this author and each book that she published is better than the previous one.
I’ve been meaning to read a Lucy Score novel. Now that I have, I totally get why readers love her. Great world building.
This book was kind of long, but it was such a cute read, I found myself just adoring the book. It’s a really sweet funny story that is an easy read.
Lucy Score is a freaking genius! Perfectly combing humor and emotion, this book totally nailed it. Using an experience that many women experienced in high school makes Marley so relatable. And Jake is the perfect book boyfriend. Everybody needs to read this book!
