Good read. He writes a good mystery and makes me chuckle sometimes.
Mr. Atkins tried too hard to have Spenser be funny. I’d like it if he would just relax.
Ace Adkins has captured the spirit of the Spenser novels. This was pretty typical of the formula for Spenser novels, so an enjoyable and quick read. I found it well worth my time.
The author is NOT R.B Parker, but he does a decent job of recreating the characters. Hawk is sorely missed, and his “sidekick” still doesn’t impact the story line as much as RBP’s Hawk did.
Susan is always somewhere else, and the “missing her” takes up too much of the story.
That said, he’s close. RBP are mighty big shoes to fill, and this author does come close…needs to come closer.
Great dialogue
His Spenser books never fail to please.
Every bit as good as original Parker.
Always enjoy a look into Spencer’s world so I read this book. Not one of the best of this series.
Lags somewhat AND is still worth a read. Spenser always is a hook!
Parker is one of the best. The whole series is terrific.
Like Robert Parker but not the lightness and joy of the originals. A reasonable substitute, but not inspired.
Just the thing for a cold winters evening,
