The enduring mystery of what happened to the first English colony in the New World…
In 1587, a group of would-be colonists set sail from England and later landed on Roanoke Island, now part of North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Their ship returned to England and the settlers were never heard from again. This is the story, based on legendary and historical information, of what might have happened to … happened to them.
Jocelyn White, a newlywed married to Thomas Coleman, is reluctant to leave her home in England for the wild shores of the New World. The journey is fraught with danger, but her dependence on God and God’s providence carry her safely through.

Liked the story, but not a major character. Took me a while to decide to pick up the second book.
Hunt creates a strong protagonist who courageously follows their heart living the motto on her mother’s wedding ring, boldly, faithfully, successfully. This is passed on to her granddaughter to be lived by in the face of great odds.
A powerful story about the many hardships that befell the first settlers in American. Without their faith, they could not have survived.
I can’t say I enjoyed this book. It was very well written, characters were well-developed, but very graphic. I can not read the subsequent books. I appreciate the historical accuracy.
Very good work of Historical Fiction, I really like it.
If you ever wondered about what happened in Roanoke this story is a great possibility
