This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by these authors and it certainly did not disappoint. At some point we all need a laugh out loud read or listen and Road Trip certainly fills the bill. The narration by Victoria Fitzgerald is spot-on and the banter between Felix and Katy is amazing. Ms. Fitzgerald does a great job giving each character in the story a distinct voice fitting their personality.
Katy is a twin and her twin wants everything Katy has, but walking in to find her fiancé bumping uglies with her sister was the last straw. Revenge is in the air before all ties are cut and she enlists the help of one of her coworkers at school to help, Felix Montague, manwhore that he is. Sadly things go awry and they both get fired, setting them up on a road trip around the country to interview for new teaching jobs on a very limited budget.
What follows is a delightful journey from enemies to friends to lovers with witty writing and sharp banter between the characters. The situations they get themselves into are laugh out loud hilarious and I found myself doing just that on many occasions. The characters and storyline are well developed and I enjoyed the book greatly. I will definitely be reading or listening to more from these authors.
Road Trip is a really fun enemies to lovers story. Katy and Felix are two teachers low on money and out of a job. They decide to pool resources and road trip together to job interviews.
Katy had just discovered her boyfriend was cheating on her and doesn’t have a very high opinion of Felix and his playboy, ladies man reputation.
There are some really funny hijinks as the two compete for the same positions. I listened to this story on audiobook and the wonderful narration added to my enjoyment and entertainment!
-4.5 Stars!-
This book had a lot of funny moments, though at time the unprofessionalism during interviews made the characters tough to like. Overall, it was a quick, entertaining listen as long as you don’t take it too seriously.
I listened to the Audible version. Victoria Fitzgerald did a fabulous job with the narration.
Road Trip by Andie M. Long and Laura Barnard is a romantic comedy that I listened to on audio narrated by Victoria Fitzgerald.
Andie and Laura did an amazing job on this storyline. I absolutely loved it! The back and forth between Katy and Felix was amazing!
Victoria did an amazing job on the narration! Her voice was perfect for the characters! I can’t wait to listen to more of her work in the future.
I would highly recommend the book if you love Romantic Comedies.
Katy walks in on her fiancee with her sister in a way that has Katy walking out and looking at Felix Montague for help. Felix is known around the school she teaches at as a bit of a player, he has never glanced her way but she needs his help with a little make believe payback. Felix knows of Katy and knows she has helped swirl the rumor mill about him never once trying to find out if it is true. Felix decides to make his own conditions to help her out. One thing leads to another and both Katy and Felix find themselves having to share a road trip that leads to a little bit more.
I listened to this on audiobook and initially the accent is a bit heavy but it works. This story reminded me of Bridget Jones a bit especially Katy’s mom. I thought the humor was spot on in this one. I liked Felix and Katy, I enjoyed seeing how they begin to realize they are not what the other assumed about them. Some really funny laugh out loud moments. Delightful road trip book.
Road trip was such a fun and refreshing read. Unforgettable misadventure of two unemployed school teachers . The story caught my attention from the moment it starts. The plot was captivating & fast paced and the banter & chemistry between both Felix & Katy was fun and quite relatable. Not only I loved the main two characters but all the side characters were also likeable. This book was so hilarious and funny that I couldn’t stop giggling and laughing at all the antics , shenanigans and mishaps, My husband texted me stop laughing so loud he was in a meeting , with his team. I have read Laura’s book & enjoyed it but having read Andi and this being a collaboration between these two authors I was a little skeptical going in this story , but this story took me surprise in the best possible way and these two authors go seamlessly. This book is hands down British humor at it best. If you are in a mood for a feel good, hilariously funny RomCom look no further . Can’t wait to read more collaborations from these two very talented authors.
Road Trip is such a fun and hilarious book and I read it all in one sitting.
The book is about Katy a young woman who lands herself as single, and after a prank gone wrong unemployed with the annoyingly handsome Felix.
Felix is fun, flirty and has a reputation, but as the saying goes, don’t be too quick to judge a book by its cover. Felix has reasons, and also has more to him than his devilishly handsome good looks.
After hilariously getting Katy to join in some pranks and getting fired, they make an agreement to travel the U.K. together whilst attending interviews on a budget. As Katy is not usually the fun and spontaneous type, she is initially reluctant, but with a depleted bank account, she doesn’t have much choice but to cave.
But can the two put aside the jokes and pranks and land jobs, or will they end up falling out?
This book has some real laugh out loud moments, their pranks are hilarious and the book has a realistic and modern vibe with characters that you can easily relate to.
Felix is hilarious and I absolutely love his charm and charisma, whilst Katy always lands herself in a spot of bother.
This book is perfect for anyone wanting a fun easy to read book. It is the ideal romantic comedy to get stuck into, and will definitely bring a smile to your face.
Felix and Katy are an absolute riot.
Their crazy trip is all kinds of over-the-top shenanigans. Hilarious and ridiculous. From the people they meet, to the crazy stuff they do… this book kept me smiling and laughing all the way to the very end.
It’s a short but (mostly) lighthearted read that reminds you that not everything you hear is true. And sometimes, the person you thought you -kind of- knew is completely different from your first impressions.
Audio review:
Ha! This book had me laughing out loud at the ridiculousness of some of the antics they got up to. It was fun, flirty and so cute.
Although Victoria didn’t really do “male” and “female” voices, it was very enjoyable.
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
This book is everything you need in a rom-com. I still can’t stop laughing at all the antics that happen to Katy and Felix on their road trip to job interviews.
Reminded me of a rom-com version of Home Alone with the antics they get into.
I highly recommend this!
Katy + Felix = fun
Road Trip was such a great rom com. I loved every page in this book. Katy and Felix are teachers and to say they are pefect would be far for the truth, still you can’t help but love them. Laugh is what you get from first page and it goes on through the whole book. Felix and Katy are so real, you get the see all that makes them human. Chemistry and attraction between them is hot, so you’ll be sitting on the edge of your sit waiting for them to act on it.
I would recommend Road Trip to all who would like to get away from real world, laugh, hope and love from pages of this book will make you feel better.

This book was entertainingly fantastic!
I laughed so much! Quirky and hilarious banter amongst Katy and her travel partner Felix!
What antics they get up to whilst attending interviews is so enjoyable you don’t want the book to ever finish!
I love books like this so much! I love how these two authors wrote something so true to romantic comedy and I certainly hope they write more!
A definite must read especially if you need a book to brighten your day!
Audiobook:
Road Trip is a fantastic audio to listen to if you need something to brighten your day. Honestly the narrator did a great job with this story and the way she did it blew me away to be honest. I loved her accent, although I wanted to hear what Felix would sound like with a male narrator. I loved the way she had humour in her words. This audio is definitely one you should grab for a pick me up. Really outrageously witty banter and wonderful characters!
Favorite Quotes:
I might be twenty-six, but in my parents’ eyes me and Vic are still about twelve. I am, but only in clothes.
I don’t need to prepare anything. People naturally love me. It’s you I’d be worried about. People assume you’ve got something stuck up your arse. You might want to look into that.
It wasn’t my fault, it was Victoria’s… She hit it with a stick while I was at a swimming pool party. It flew around and stung my bum. Then it died, so I felt really sad while Vic laughed that it had been so scared of my bottom it had died of fright.
You like me? … Like, as in you also like cheese? Or a different kind of like?
My Review:
I frequently smirked and occasionally giggled-snorted during this amusing and saucy misadventure of two broke and suddenly unemployed teachers, who were not always comfortable or friendly with each other while sharing a ride during their desperate attempts to find new employment. Both had lost their teaching positions due to a backfired prank, with continued shenanigans, antics, irresponsible behavior, poor planning, bad luck, accidents, mishaps, and incidents of sabotage to come during their careening trek across the country in search of new futures while their limited funds dwindled to mere coins. Written from my favorite dual POV, the story was entertaining and engaging with colorful humor and bits of steam. However, the snarky characters were not always likable or admirable in their motivations as they are often competing for the same limited job openings. Forced to remain in constant contact and close quarters for days on end, they began to see each other differently and an unexpected attraction bloomed in a fretful and vexing manner until they scorched the sheets. I scored a new addition to my Brit Vocabulary list with “on the lash” which is drinking to intoxication.
A laugh out loud read! Katy and Felix are teachers who hate each other. As Katy’s life derails she convinces Felix to help her get back at her sister. Due to a dare they both lose their jobs. The road trip to find a new job is full of hilarity, with colourful characters along the way.
