Shane Rydell is better fit to ride his Harley than any of his family’s horses. He has spent his life trying to find a road that can travel between the family he loves and the open road he is pulled towards. He often leaves River’s End, but eventually, he always comes back as he can’t quite sever the connection to a place he doesn’t want to be from, but which, he always seems destined to return … to.
Allison Gray has been burned deep enough she will never risk her heart again after a failed marriage that has left her devastated. A rare teaching opportunity brings her to the small town of River’s End where she is tapped to expand the curriculum of this rural school district; work that invigorates and inspires her, and helps her forget the devastation in her past.
When Shane Rydell walks in to attend his nephew’s conference, and once again, doesn’t recognizes her, she decides then and there, he will never be a man she can trust or understand. But soon she is routinely drawn to the Rydell River Ranch to do work that only she can provide. This brings her in constant contact with Shane, and she finally begins to know the real man inside the hardened, charming shell Shane projects. But it will not deter her determination that she can never trust him to be part of her life, no matter how much he happens to be in it.

I absolutely adore this author’s writing style and how she manages to interweave so many unique characters and intricate plot lines throughout an entire series seamlessly. I truly feel as though I am in the character’s head each time I open one of her books. Which is especially impressive because authors usually have a distinct writing voice, and while Leanne Davis certainly does, her characters come through loud and clear. In River’s Return it was an adventure being inside the moody and mysterious Shane Rydell’s mind. As the family outcast he never really fits in anywhere, so he travels everywhere. Will he wander forever, or will a woman who sees through his playboy, motorhead antics give him a reason to stay?
Opposites attract
A hero satisfied with the status quo, a heroine looking to enrich the lives of children – do they even have a chance? The unlikeliest couple with differing views on each other just may be surprised on what they learn about each other. Love the storytelling!
I loved this book as much as the first and second book. It always about two souls that are so different that you can’t picture them to be together. Allison no different than the two other ladies in the series so far, trying to get away from there past only to be drawn in by one of the brothers. This time is Shane the brother that can’t keep in his pants and is always on the move. The rollercoaster ride these two take you on throughout the book was worth it just to see the way this book ended. It had me smiling when the good part came. This series just keeps getting better!
I had a hard time with this book in the beginning. It wasn’t keeping my interest but I continued to read it and I’m glad I did! This is the first book that I have read by this author. This was a great emotional story about love between two people who are the complete opposite. If you haven’t read it yet, you should.
I wasn’t sure what to think of Shane, reading about him in the earlier books of the series. There was definitely more to him than I thought. There’s something about meeting someone that makes you want to be a better person, and while Allison wears Shane down, he’s really the strong one. Much of his strength is silent but means so much. I like that he was there for Allison through her painful past, and helps her through her life struggles.
An emotional roller coaster ride with real life issues to deal with and overcome. You feel as if you’re part of the story. This one is my favorite so far, storyline is great and unpredictable. I just love a tattooed, alpha man! Meow. Truly a great read.
This book is my favorited of the brother I love Shane he grow up on farm but hate horses , he love Harley’s and love working with engines….Allison loves teaching with all heart heart but she been hurt and destroyed by love before …..but she and Shane has this pur and amazing chemistry…will they be able to get over everything that holding them back ….this is a must read book …..hurry get this you won’t regret .
Shane Rydell hates horses and growing up on a ranch it makes things difficult. His brother Jack is away with Erin so Shane must take on the responsibility of looking after his nephews, Ben and Charlie. Shane is called into Charlie’s school to talk to his teacher as he is having difficulties and Shane says he will help out.
Allison Gray is Charlie’s teacher and isn’t too sure what to make of Charlie’s Uncle Shane. But soon she sees another side of Shane when she sees him sneaking out of her married neighbor’s, Celia Damon’s house while her husband is out of town working.
There is something about Allison that challenges Shane and soon he finds himself thinking about her before making decisions. But after seeing what Shane is capable of will Allison trust him with her heart?
This is such a great book and I really enjoyed it!
I knew that I would like Shane but I was frustrated at his lack of morals with being the “mister” of Celia. I was shocked at how he didn’t see it as his problem until Allison called him out on it. There was such a fundamental change with Shane in this book because of Allison and I loved how he began to see things differently because of her. He became so much more aware of what everyone needed after this and it was so good!
Allison had her own difficult past and I could see why Shane’s behavior at the beginning of the book bugged her so much. I was sad to see what she had gone through in the past and knew why Shane was a big risk with her heart. I was also extremely happy to see how her work with Erin gave her back the passion she had with teaching.
The passion between Shane and Allison was through the roof but Allison remained so guarded and it made perfect sense!
My heart was breaking for Allison towards the end and I was crossing my fingers that she would make the right decision for her but I really wanted her to give it a try!!
Loved the end and the epilogue and I can’t wait for more in this series!
The connection between Shane and Allison is unexpected and confusing for both of the characters. Neither is sure of what will happen and where it will go. Are they willing to take the risk??? Can Allison let Shane in? I loved this story about he elusive Shane and Allison. They have a rough ride, but it is well worth the read. A heartfelt and very emotional story that had me from page one!!
I just love this series! The books have gotten better with each installment. Just a warning on this one though, you will probably need tissues when you read the last few chapters, they really pull at the heartstrings.
In this third installment of the River’s End series by Leanne Davis, we focus on Shane Rydell’s story. He is struggling with his conscience courtesy of a certain red headed school teacher. Allison Gray knocked him for a loop, calling out the tatted up biker on all his shenanigans and wild ways. He lived by his own code, no strings, no commitments and no promises. He was a nomadic soul, wanderlust struck and he hit the road on his Harley whenever he felt like it. But he always returns eventually.
Allison was the embodiment of too good for him. Love wasn’t part of his vocabulary. But she somehow carved a niche into his heart and psyche forcing Shane to examine everything about his life, including his struggle with his place on Rydell ranch. In turn, Allison had her own struggles and deep dark secret pain that ruined her first marriage so she fought the attracting to the infuriating bad boy. They were two very polar opposites. How could they find a happy medium between their clashing personalities and give their love a chance to root and bloom.
If you love a good series about love, family and life, this is a good one to check out. I have followed the Rydells from the beginning and while they can each be read as a standalone, it’s a better experience to start from the beginning and keep reading.
I have to say this was a tough book to read. Great book but tough. The author did a really good job really making you feel like you were part of the story. I felt all the ups and down. It was very believable and the book really kept you from putting the book down. The only complaint is that I could of read more of this story.
This author never ceases to take me on an emotional roller coaster ride with every book she writes. This series has never had any conventional romances. She always takes two people who couldnt be more different from everything from looks to moral values to where and how they were raised but yet as the story progresses you see along with the characters they are perfect for each other.
Shane Rydell never felt like he fit in with his family even though he loved his brother dearly. They were raised on a cattle and horse ranch and horses were never his thing. His father was a little rough on him due to this which in turn made Shane once he was old enough leave for months at a time on his Harley. Shane answered to no one and he did what he wanted no apologies. He was happiest when he was fixing old tractors or cars or motorcycles. Give him something electronic and he’d tinker with it. He also didnt believe in relationships. He unapologetically slept with who he wanted whether they were married or not and his conscience was clear because he wasn’t the one cheating. His view on life and how he lived it came to a screeching halt once he has to attend his nephews parent/teacher conference when his brother is away on his honeymoon.
I look at this book as two parts. The first part was the restoration of Shane’s conscience by Allison Gray who is an elementary teacher with aspirations of helping others with reading disabilities. She has a strong moral compass and doesn’t hesitate in telling Shane his selfish actions have the potential to harm innocent people. As Shane starts to finally feel in his heart again and look at his actions your heart breaks for him when even his own family has a problem believing the drastic change. The second half of this book is Allison Gray’s story. Shane knew right away he loved Allison but he had no idea of the deep rooted emotional pain she was hiding. I’m not going to get into what that was but it rips your heart out a time or two or three.
Unknowingly Allison made Shane into a better man which she in turn would need to help her move past some traumatic issues.
There was one other thing that was very special to see during this book. In the first book in the series the heroine was illiterate and had suffered because of her never being able to learn to read. Allison knew she suffered from dyslexia that had gone undiagnosed for more than 26 years and through Shane’s urging convinced Allison to get educated and certified to teach Erin how to conquer her disability and finally learn to read. Nothing is ever easy for any characters in any of Leanne’s books but love and determination eventually get these characters the happiness they finally deserve.
