She pulled him out of darkness and isolation… all of which, had nothing to do with the fact that he was deaf. But once out, what if that is the very thing that will rip him from her?Isolated for years, without a family, and a guardian who mocked how he sounded, Finn Alexander learned how to interact in a hearing world… while completely shunning the Deaf one. Finn solved his differences by hiding … by hiding in a barn where he worked with animals all day, and very few people.
Until Brianna Starr.
There soon becomes Finn’s life before Brianna and after Brianna. She forces him out of the barn, out of the silence and quiet of his head… and into the world as she sees, hears and experiences it. She is known for being likeable and popular, the very antithesis of him, and yet, with Finn she can’t quite get her footing. Awkward, insulting, and accidentally off-putting towards him, she at least tries to communicate fully with him.
And honestly? No one has ever reacted to him quite like Brianna.
Moreover, it works, until the very things she is pushing him towards fills up his life and could so easily rip him away from her. Because as life long ago taught him, some barriers are permanent. Uncrossable. Unbreakable.
No matter how hard one tries.

We met Brianna when she was a bratty teenager, intent on seducing much older Joey Riddell. Now she’s a young, beautiful and smart young woman just trying to find her way in the world. She comes across Finn Alexander a young deaf man who works with the horses on the Riddell farm. Finn’s been on his own most of his life, but meeting Brianna opens the world to him. Can he find his way and a future with Brianna?
This book is realistic, with a character-driven plot and a deeply revealing look into deaf – culture and the many obstacles facing those with disabilities.
A sweet story of understanding, patience, trust and learning to live outside of your comfort zone.
River’s Rescue is heartwarming, it was a bit slow at times for me but the end was so worth it.
This was my first book by the author, I haven’t read the previous books in the series but I certainly want to now. 3.5-4 stars.
This book was fantastic. I mean it contains all the feelings that you love in a great book. The author does a fantastic job with such a delicate matter. I mean this shows that despite hearing or not, you have insecurities and jealously that could ruin a realtionship. Brianna you get to know a little about her with the other books but this you get to see different sides to her. She is miss popularity, a dedicated sister and best friend. Meeting Finn opens her eyes to world she never thought existed. She brings him out the darkness that he’s been in for so long.. His story breaks my heart. I mean he lost his family, his hearing, raised by a family member who didn’t get a crap about him. He’s pretty much been raising himself. He’s learned how to sign language, talk and read lips. Thru Brianna, he is introduced to a world he never thought he’d get to belong or meet. He loves having friends he can communicate with but Brianna feels left out. He feels the same with her friends. She does an excellent job of informing others about his condition and how to communicate with him. This was such a beautiful story with heartwarming moments. I seriously loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one!!!!
i love these character so much Brinna and Finn .. they are so different people but they have this amazing chemistry ..i love how Brinna want to know how Finn world his for him ..i love how theyovercome the challenge of being different … this is amazing book ..hurry and get this book you wont regret .
I have enjoyed reading the River End series. River Rescue was a easy read for me and difficult to put down. I really liked reading about Brianna Star and Finn Alexander. The connection these 2 characters had blew me out of the water. Nothing stood in the way of their relationship and the love they had for each other. It didn’t even matter with Finn being deaf and Brianna being a part of the hearing world. They found a way to make their relationship work.
I enjoyed how the epilogue summed up the overall story of ALL the characters. In they end Brianna and Finn got their own HEA.
Brianna and Finn were from two totally different worlds. The spectrum was broad. Brianna could hear the birds chirping and the wind through the trees. Finn’s whole life was utter silence, completely deaf. Brianna dragged him out of his lonely quiet existence and fought for their love. But the barriers and struggles between the hearing world and deaf world will test their limits.
I’ve watched Brianna grow up in the River’s End series, having met her as a teenager earlier in the series. I loved finally reading her story. This was another emotional book for me. I cried and laughed and wanted to jump in and scream along with her. Definitely another great read in the River’s End series!
Brianna had more drive and heart than I knew. She didn’t always go about it the right way, but she went about it with love. She took Finn and tried to open up his world, as difficult as it was for him to be around others. It was a sweet, if not very easy, love story and it was an enjoyable read.
I can’t get enough of the the Rydell’s! Book 9 is about Brianna and Finn. This story was so emotional and eye opening! I loved it so much! This will definitely be a book I read over and over again! Another amazing book by Leanne. I can’t wait to read Jacob’s story!
This is book nine in the series. We see Brianna who has been in previous books back at the ranch. She meets Finn who deaf. He works with rescued horses and has isolated himself from the human world.
Their relationship is one that stays with you as they develop their relationship and Finn expands his world. The author does an impressive job writing about the hearing impaired.
This book just opened my eyes to so many things that I’ve never thought about. It made me cry to know that’s what deaf people go through every day of their lives. It a real eye opener. We have it so easy and to think we take it for granted. An amazing book.
I have to say if you want to really know how it is for the death and the hearing live this the book for you. The author really was great and did her homework on this book. The story was one that you would think couldn’t reach a great ending. The passed the main characters had and how they lived there live was tough as it was, But to add that one was death and wanted to hide from the world while the other wanted to be part of the world. The way they worked together to get to know them selfes as well as each other was fantastic. Loved this book.
Brianna Starr has spent her summers at Rydell Ranch since her mom, Hailey, married Joey Rydell. She loves her life in Everett but when she is asked by Cami Reed to run her summer programs while she goes to Europe she agrees to take on the project.
Finn Alexander is 23 and is a recluse but loves working for Jack on the ranch. He has lived a very solitary life since his parents died when he was 6 and he lost his hearing and was forced to live with a distant uncle who never wanted him.
When Brianna meets Finn she sees a handsome guy and begins to bring him out into the world a little more. But where Brianna finds joy, Finn struggles and the two must discover if they can blend their two completely different lives together.
This was a really good book and I enjoyed learning about Finn and all of the struggles that he faced in his life.
I liked Brianna and how she was so much more than we thought she was due to how she had been portrayed in previous books. In this book you learn how intellectual she is and how social media savvy. I was amazed at what was revealed in the book and how much she was able to do for the ranch and all their platforms.
Finn was such a great character and I understood why he was such a recluse after everything he had been through. He was never really accepted before as he never fit in anywhere and therefore he kept to himself. He loved working with the horses and found so much peace with them.
Initially I felt like Brianna viewed Finn as a little bit of a project but gradually you discovered how much she cared but at the same time she was trying to fit Finn into her life and she had no idea how uncomfortable he really was. That part truly broke my heart. Brianna was trying so hard but never really understood how Finn felt.
It was interesting once Felicity came into the picture and I knew there would be trouble. It was super interesting seeing Felicity’s views on certain things and how much she differed from Finn yet they were brought together over commonality.
There were so many ups and downs between Finn and Brianna but I knew they had so much love but it was interesting seeing if that would be enough for them.
I loved the way things ended up coming together for Finn and Brianna. I was completely shocked by what happened with Jacob and everything that unfolded there!!
The epilogue was great and I look forward to the last book in the series!
Just the absolute best story. Everything I like to read about and more. Such a great story I will read again and again. A keeper!!
This book by Leanne Davis is such an amazing and emotional read. You will not be able to put it down once you have started reading it. You will also need to have your tissues on standby. The message of this book is clear; showing love and acceptance to those around you who may be a little “different” is definitely the way to go. You do not want to miss out on this gem of a book. I also can’t wait to read the next book about Jacob.
I love the River End series. This is book 9 in the series and it was great. Leanne Davis takes us on another wonderful journey. We meet Fin. He is deaf and keeps to himself. He just wants to do his job and be left alone. Brianna bumps into him one day and thinks he is rude when he doesnt respond to her. Once she finds out he is deaf she is on a mission to befriend him. These 2 have great chemistry but hurtles to over come. Another great book.
Wow! This series just gets better and better. Leanne Davis left me an emotional wreck. Finn and Brianna were beautiful together. I love how she grabbed a hold of Finn and didn’t let go. Her zeal for life was contagious. Finn’s struggles broke me but what a story. If you haven’t picked up a book by this author, grab this one. And if you already know Leanne Davis’ stories, River’s Rescue will leave your heart so happy and full.
I’ve loved this whole series, but this one seemed to take you away from the ranch & other integral people involved in this family. I felt like this until the end when family was pulled back in to the story. The last chapter was so real. I was in tears reading it. The feelings all came full circle for this family. I’m going to dive into book 10 which is the final book in this series.
Very emotional read. Finn and Brianna were made for each other. I have only ever read one other deaf series in my life but this author nailed it with this book. I always find these kind of stories very interesting. This is book 9 in the series and I would really like to read all the other 8 books. This seems like a great series. I would recommend reading this book.
This book was probably the most endearing of the series…I fell in love with Finn and loved their journey. Written beautifully as all of the books in the series
Loved this book.
Loved Brianna and Finn’s story. As the mother of a deaf child, I loved the way Davis pushed Finn by allowing Brianna to explore deaf culture. Another book in this series that I loved and might be might favorite.
