Kailynn Hayes doesn’t believe she’ll ever escape the small ranching community she was born and raised in called River’s End. She has nothing and nowhere else to go, with a sickly father to care for, and two brothers who would as soon do anything than work. She sees her life continuing on as the housekeeper for the Rydell River Ranch and as a waitress in River’s End. Trapped by no money and family … family responsibilities, she doesn’t believe she can escape it all to pursue her dreams. Until one expected event changes everything, and suddenly she has the ability to go after a new life, far away from River’s End. But it will come at the cost of a relationship that she never intended to start, and therefore, she believes she will never give up her dreams for.
Ian Rydell has helped Jack all these years care for the ranch, their younger brothers and Jack’s two sons. He is the brother no one ever knows what he is thinking, or next going to do, especially the woman he has quietly loved for years. But now, he’s ready to implement the plans and dreams that not a soul knows he harbors, especially the woman he intends to do them for.
Kailynn starts to realize that maybe there is more in River’s End for her, than she ever noticed or dared to dream about. But how can she turn her back on this new life she has found, and all to go back to the place she had been so desperate to escape?

True love wins out
Again with the realistic storytelling. A heroine with an infatuation, a hero with a secret crush – how will they get an HEA from that seeing as he isn’t the infatuation! You’re taken through many steps and lifechanging decisions that just show you what someone will do for real love!
This book is amazing I love Ian and kailynn so much …she had a crush on his brother since they been young …Ian had a crush on her been a while but she doesn’t see him that way … will he be able to make her see him has more then a friend …I love these brother so much ….it a must read ..hurry and get this book you won’t regret.
Loved this next book in the series about Ian and Kailynn. Quiet Ian is waiting for the right time. Has the right time fallen into his lap? A crush that has been going on for years with Ian’s brother Shane, Ian is not who Kailynn thought she would be with. Can Ian and Kailynn make things work?
A heartfelt story that had me on a roller coaster ride!!
I liked this book. I’m not hung up on it and am kind of “over” the weak heroines that are becoming a theme through these books but they do feel real.
As a reader, I want the characters to be just believable enough to understand them but unbelievable enough to be entertaining and to pull me from my own reality. In this case I feel like I’m not being drawn in enough.
I am not raving about this series but if you like this author it is a fun departure from her usual work.
I am really enjoying this series. I think Ian is my type of book boyfriend. He’s the strong, silent type. He’s a good match for Kailynn, who is strong and not so silent. I wanted to know more about Kailynn after reading a little about her in the first book. I enjoyed her character. She knew what she wanted out of life and she was a hard worker. Their coming together was at a nice pace, sweet and a little salty at times.
You often see in reviews most people complain about the romance not being original that its just a recycled version of the same thing from book to book. Well in this series the romances are anything but typical. They are unconventional in both the story and the characters. If you a fan of this author this series isn’t as gut-wrenching as some of her others but the characters are certainly flawed. I will not forget in the first book her having a heroine who was illiterate and expected to be treated unkindly. In this book the heroine hates her life. After her mother left she was left to take care of her disabled father and her two lazy brothers who do nothing but party. She wants nothing more than to get out of River’s End but doesn’t see how that is ever going to happen.
Kailynn’s abandonment by her mother at an early age messed with her self-esteem and worth. With her self esteem so low she tends to date men that are no good even though she is still clinging to her virginity. Her whole life she has wanted one man – Shane Rydell. Even though he has never seen her as anything but a younger sister type figure. Shane also doesn’t do a whole lot more than drink and sleep with women himself (his story is next in the series and he certainly needs to get his life together). What Kailynn doesn’t realize is its Ian Rydell who is pining for her but she is so caught up in her woe is me life she doesn’t really even see him and the impression she does have of him couldn’t be more wrong.
Ian and his older brother Jack were thrust into responsibility at an early age when their parents died and they in turn had to raise their two younger brothers along with Jack’s two sons. Along with that responsibility they also had the family ranch to run. Ian is not described as being very attractive by Kailynn but its not long before you realize that is because she has tunnel vision when it comes to the good guys. Ian was the strong silent type that didn’t believe in talking about his conquest or getting drunk and acting stupid. He takes his family responsibilities seriously and I think was also the most affected by the loss of his parents. I have to say I felt sorry for Ian for most of this book. You just knew Kailynn was going to break his heart and there was nothing you could do.
There is a HEA so no worries there but there is plenty of heartbreak and growing that has to be done before we got that.
Kailynn Hayes has had a crush on Shane Rydell for years. She is the housekeeper/cook for the Rydell family and also a waitress at a local cafe in town. She has had a series of “bad boyfriends” and she dreams of escaping her small town. Unfortunately with her sick father and brothers who don’t do anything and her lack of money she knows she is stuck where she is.
Ian Rydell has had feelings for Kailynn for years but knows she is too preoccupied with his brother, Shane, to notice him. He is the quiet brother who left town for school but has come back to help his brothers with the ranch.
When Kailynn and Ian head up in the mountains together they see a different side of each other and learn about their dreams and goals. But when they return Kaitlynn is unsure of what she wants with Ian and Ian knows he needs to allow Kailynn to achieve her dreams, even if that means losing her.
Can Ian and Kailynn find a way through all the roadblocks to be together?
This is the second book in the series and I really enjoyed it.
Kailynn was a good character – she was caring but she never stood up for herself and did everything that was expected of her. She took care of her family and the Rydell family and knew that she would never be able to follow her own dreams of attending the University of Washington. Kailynn always seemed to find herself in relationships with “bad guys” and she wanted Shane to notice her.
Ian was awesome and I really liked him. It was obvious how he remained in the background waiting for the right time to express his opinions and ideas. I loved how he was so protective of Kailynn without her even knowing how much he cared about her.
The relationship between Kailynn and Ian was interesting from how they began to where they ended up. They did not have an easy road and had so many bumps along the way that I was never sure what was going to happen in the end.
I loved Ian’s ideas about where he saw the ranch for the future and I am definitely interested to see where that goes in the series.
I loved what Ian did for Kailynn but I was sad at how much meddling others did which affected everything that happened. It broke my heart with what Kailynn did in return but I did understand.
The end made me happy but I really want their to be a change in future books about where they are.
Book two that follows Ian and Kailynn’s story.
It’s an enjoyable read. The description of the characters, the places and situations makes you feel as if you’re right there with them. A love story that is believable with characters that makes you feel everything they feel.
I am not into spoilers so my suggestion would be to read the story and find out all that happens.
