River in the Mountains (River’s End Series Book 13)
Leanne Davis
Another great book by Leanne Davis. Every book I have read of hers takes you on an emotional journey, and this one is no different. Each book also brings something of importance for you to learn about and how it affects people, this one is no different. This is the story of Violet Rydell, or Vee as she is known by some people. Very quickly in this book, there is an event that totally changes Violet’s life and how she lives. She is no longer the vibrant person she was, she is a shell of herself, and really does not let anyone in. Her annual pilgrammage to the mountains is a little different this year, as she encounters a man that is there to rebuild the trail. Will they become friends or more? Will Violet be able to open herself and her heart up to someone else? Literally she does not share anything about herself to anyone, she didn’t even tell Gage her name, only to call her Vee. Is it fate that these two met? The chemistry between the two is felt as soon as they meet, but what will happen. Will the friendship they made in the mountains be able to sustain itself in real life? I do want to say that Gage is one of the most selfless and incredible men, I have ever read. He is so open and he treats everyone so well. He is an amazing mother and father to Andrea (Andy). And there is one part of the book that talks about tampons, and it is just awesome, but he doesn’t realize how different he is than most men. He makes for an incredible boyfriend and book boyfriend. Honestly I am not going to give anything away, so you need to pick this one up and find out for yourself. I have not read this whole series, but the ones I have read are all amazing reads, and I love the Rydell family. I am a huge fan of this author, and one day I will read the books that I have missed in this series, and probably re-read the ones I have as they are that good.
So it has been a joy to see how much these characters have changed since book 1. Everyone has found love and started families at the Rydell Ranch. Violet is the last one and she thought she had it until tragedy happened. She’s hurt and grieving hard. She doesn’t want a relationship and doesn’t want anyone to get close. She gets away and spends her time in the woods. She wasn’t counting on Gage being there but he was. She doesn’t open up at all to him but that doesn’t stop him from trying to get more info out of her. These two have fire and passion especially when they talk to each other. Neither want to back down. It was a great way to end the series and see Violet transform and heal. It was a great book!
Oh my Vee heartbroken by seing her fiancé being kill in the family arena and in a place she use love now she fear seeing people on horse . I this kid she thrive in life was to traine and perfome. Like she does she leave for the mountain for the summer to escape . Gage a single dad and can’t bear that is daughter going to her grandparent for a month and going to summer camp et decide to offer Is work to Go repair the trails in the mountains as he like the physical work and the hiking . But he never expected to met this beautiful woman , at first she doesn’t wanna give name but you can she the chemistry between both of them , Gage keep push for info will she crack or is she still to heartbroken?
This is a must read book hurrry and get this. Book you won’t regret
River in the Mountains
(River End Series #13)
Leanne Davis
River in the Mountains is the 13th book in the River End Series. It was an easy read and hard to put down.
This is Shane Rydell’s, daughter Violets story and the connection she makes with an amazing man in the last place she ever expected. Violet met Gage on one of her August camping trips up in the mountain’s. Her mtn camping trips were her way of emotionally distancing and healing after losing her fiance, who died violently years before. Changing Violets world and life as she once knew it.
Gage happened to be out camping to pass by time while his daughter was away with her mom’s family & at Horse Camp.
He used the time she was away working up in the mtns restoring a hiking trail. While there he met the mysterious woman and her horses.
The more time these to spent together they formed a personal connection/bond. Violet wasn’t okay sharing Gage with her name. She knew with that alone he’d know who she was. Violet started opened up about small things in her life and the lose of her first love. Violet fought Gage in knowing anything about her past every step of the way. After spending those few weeks together in the Mountains away from each other it wasn’t just hard on him but it was hard for Violet because she started to develop feelings for Gage.
Between Violets conversation with her Uncle Jack, her change of employment & finally the conversation she had with her own father. It helped Violet realize that her heart was big enough to fall in love, again & she deserved to be happy.
Gage gave her the extra push Violet needed. In the end Violet didn’t just end up with a great boyfriend/fiance and a wonderful father to preteen daughter. But Violet also formed a wonderful bond with his horse crazy preteen daughter. Gage and Violet found a HEA when neither was really looking forward to it.
Leanne Davis’s last three books in “The River End series” have all been about Shane Rydells daughters; Iris, Rose and Violet. Shane has one more daughter Daisy who is away at school. I’m hoping the next book, if there is one will be Daisy’s story. Fingers Crossed for more books in “The River End series”.
I love how much depth Leanne Davis writes with in her books. I definitely enjoy each and every novel she puts out.
Another fantastic book from one of my favorite authors! Gage and Violet’s story was completely amazing and will be on I’ll read again!
There’s always something happening with the Rydells. They are no stranger to pain and loss. I think Gage was where he was supposed to be when he came across Violet. He gave her the distraction from life she was needing, at least for a time. It was a little hard to read watching her struggle. All Gage could do was offer support, love, and a harsh taste of the truth, especially back in the “real world.” I loved that what somewhat took her heart also gave it back in another way.
Talk about an emotional book!! Your heart is ripped apart in the first few chapters. Violet’s whole world is flipped upside down, but then she meets Gage.
No matter how much she pushes him away, and tried not to fall for him, true love makes it impossible for them not to fall for each other!
I absolutely love this series!!!
This is book 13 in the Rivers end series. In August Violet leaves to be by herself. She is so broken she just wants to forget just for a little bit. She goes up into the moutains where it is very remote. Less chance of seeing anyone. Gage sees Violets amoke from her fire and goes to investigate. These two become friends but barely putting out any personal information. It takes Violet a long time to be honest with Gage. I ready enjoyed this book. You can definitely get sucked in with all.the emotions going on.
This book takes you on a roller coaster of emotion. At first so much sadness and then it bounces around and its one you wont want to put down. Her books are always great and how she comes up with all this different stories but I’m glad she does.
Being sucker punched in the first few chapters makes this an absolute page-turner.
Every book that Leanne Davis writes is a an emotional journey, and this one is no exception.
Hurt and hope go hand in hand.
Loss and Love are two sides of the same coin.
But Andy was a gift.
And I truly hope she has her own story.
Leanne Davis never disappoints and this time, I had happy tears.
Great easy read which although predictable still kept me totally engrossed. You can’t help but fall in love with Gage from the moment you meet him and Violet (Vee) your heart will just go out to her. The chemistry between them is off the charts but the journey they take is far from easy. Gage wants Violet but wants to protect his teenage daughter, Violet wants Gage but can’t get past the grief of seeing her finance die two years previously. There is laughter and tears in this I enjoyed it.
Violet Rydell’s heart was shattered the day her fiance, Preston, died right in front of her. To battle her inner demons, she spends her time alone in the woods away from where he died. Like out of mind out of sight.
Gage Sullivan is another type of a person who loves to spend time rebuilding a trail which is part of his job with the US Forest Service, a single dad, and a good one at that with Andrea.
Their first meeting astounds Galvin, but Violet shows no remorse. A trained outdoorsman, intrigues Galvin. Vioilet’s hurt doesn’t allow her to love again for fear of loss. The author does great character building but Violet is too cold to me. It is realistic but at times it appears to be too stubborn for the lady MC. But the ending was wonderful. Love the author and she writes from the heart but sometimes I wish the ladies were not so stubborn.
Violet Rydell’s heart shattered the day her fiance, Preston, died right in front of her. Since his death she spends the month of August camping in the woods and staying as far away from where he died as possible.
Gage Sullivan is a single dad to Andrea and is spending his summer rebuilding a trail as part of his job with the US Forest Service. He loves spending a month out in the bush while Andy is across the country with her grandparents.
When Violet and Gage meet in the bush they have attraction but Violet is not willing to open up about anything personal in her life. The two form a “friendship” yet there is still much missing between the two of them.
Will Violet open up to Gage if she knows that’s the only way she stands a chance or will she let things go hoping she never sees him again?
This is another great book in the series and this is one of the series that seems to cover it all.
Initially my heart broke for Violet and everything she went through. I couldn’t imagine watching what she did and then having to try and go on and be around the place where it happened. I understood why she left every August and I was impressed on everything she did on her own. But then as I read about her interactions with Gage I started to get frustrated at her as she was doing anything to move on from it and allow herself to heal from the events of the past. She never got herself any help and instead wallowed in her grief. Even with Gage she had her walls up and didn’t want him to know anything about her and wanted to keep things as impersonal as she could.
I thought Gage was an amazing character and great dad! He was doing an amazing job with Andy and I liked that he spent his summer doing manual work while she was away and kept himself busy. I liked that Gage had standards and wasn’t going to lower them, no matter how attracted he was to Violet.
There was so much chemistry between Gage and Violet but both of them were holding parts of their lives secret. I understood that Gage did only because he knew Violet wasn’t being open and honest with him. I was happy when Violet finally told Gage her name yet I was so mad at her when she became cold to him again. She frustrated me so much!
I had a feeling Gage would eventually put the pieces together once Andy had been talking about horses. Gage got a few more pieces of the puzzle with Erin but he knew he needed more from Violet.
Violet seemed to totally flip out when both her and Gage returned to their homes and a few times I was pretty mad at her for how she treated Gage.
I loved when Violet talked to her Uncle Jack and how she was able to reconcile her past and her future. I loved that he offered her a job and it seemed like an excellent fit!
I was so proud of Violet when she finally got the courage to talk to Gage about her feelings and what she wanted from life!! I also really liked her bond with Andy and how Andy also taught Violet a few things about life and love.
The end was excellent and crossing my fingers that we get more!
RITM WOW this book captured me just like her others! It’s heartbreaking and it’s a must read!
Loved it
I have every book in this series and not once have I been disappointed Leanne’s books are amazing and one can relate to the story Iris is grieving the death of her fiancee and every August she goes to the mountains away from everything and everyone. This time she runs into Gage who is ther fixing a trail over the month he is there things heat up between the two and Iris is secretive about who she is and her past.Gage excepts that and they continue on he wants more she can’t let go of her past. After the month is over Gage leaves and later they run into one another she learns he has a daughter and she is even more confused and conflicted about her feelings .This was a amazing read actually the whole series is fantastic will realistic problems we sometimes face.
At first your heart is breaking for Violet but then she just becomes a bitter woman until she meets Gage. Violet has made this trip every year in August because she can’t bear to be around people but somehow Gage breaks right through her wall, trouble is he is falling deeper and she is stopping him in his tracks. Through the entire book all you want is for Violet to get past her grief as see what’s right in front of her before it’s too late.
It seemed like at the beginning of this book like it was dragging on and taking forever, but I’m so glad I held in there because the further along you got the more engaging this story became.
The story between Gage & Violet was very interesting. Violet’s past of watching the love of her life get killed almost destroyed her. She met Gage on one of her get out of town times at the anniversary of his death. She’d go isolate herself up in the mountains and camp. Gage was patient when he found out what had happened to her and why she didn’t want to commit to a relationship, but he was also very concerned about how Violet would be around his teenage daughter Andy. Andy did meet her and saw how happy her father was whenever he spoke about his mountain girl. Andy saw the smile on her father’s face and the look of love in his eyes. He’d never brought a woman home, but she somehow knew that this was the woman for her father.
A day of sledding with Gage and his daughter and 2 of her friends brought the old fun-loving and competitive Violet back to life. The love and open relationship Gage had with his daughter sealed it all for Violet.
Such a wonderful story of Love, Patience, and Persistence.
This series just keeps getting better and better. I have loved it from the very beginning and my admiration for the author continues to grow. This story hots on all the emotions, with plenty of drama and action on the no way to a very satisfying ending.
I found Leanne Davis several years ago. I look forward to reading her new releases. RIVER IN THE MOUNTAINS was no disappointment.
It started with a heartbreaking prologue. I cried, laughed, became exasperated with Violet, but then cried and laughed some more. Gage was so very perfect, as was his daughter, Andy. It made me need to suspend real life while reading. But I just couldn’t find anything wrong with them! I really wasn’t ready for the story to end.
I will admit that some of the inner dialogue was repetitive. I did some skimming in a couple places. But I know that is like real life. How often we hash and rehash our situations while trying to make decisions. I’m truly looking forward to the next book!
Leanne Davis has once again managed to write a book with characters that feel so real you might actually think this story is based on real life events and people. If you have read the previous River’s End books, then this one is a must read.
