This author always writes great books in this world. I need to re-read this series cause I’ve forgotten a bunch of people in it now. Always a good book series to look into re-reading again!
This is a voluntary review and I do not get paid for my review.
I am so grateful for the day I clicked on Leanne Davis’ book, River’s End. It is the first book in the River’s End series. Now I have just finished book 13, River in the Mountains. The author has the ability to weave a tale that will grab and make you feel like you are right there, in the story. The characters are totally relatable. It’s almost like I can practically feel their emotions.
Violet Rydell is a member of the large Rydell family. The family owns a resort and horse rescue in Washington state. While participating in one of the horse shows they put on for their guests, there is a tragic accident. Violet’s life is forever changed. She is no longer the bold and energetic personality that her family has always known her to be. What remains is a shell of her former self. Each year for the month of August, she disappears into a secluded area of the mountains to hide away, as the anniversary of the event passes. The solitude allows her to deal with her sorrow.
Gage works for the forestry department. While he now has a desk job, he yearns to be back in the outdoors. Each August, his daughter goes away to visit her maternal grandparents. As a single father, his daughter is his life. Spending several weeks up in a remote area of the mountains, repairing a trail that was damaged in a landslide, seems just the thing to help him deal with his daughter’s absense.
When Gage sees smoke, he goes to investigate. What he finds is beyond his wildest expectations. A woman, her horses and her dog, alone in one of the remotests areas. The two form a friendship but still keep secrets. You should absolutely read this story and see what happens as they get to know each other and they unravel each other’s pasts. And make sure you have plenty of tissues. This book will run you through all the feels.
This was another great addition to the “River’s End Series”. Gage and Violet were wonderful and intriguing characters. The story was well-written with an interesting storyline that had plenty of emotions, great character development, chemistry, steam and love. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!
I received an advanced readers copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. This is a story about tragic and the steps taken to live your life after that tragic. This one about Gage and what he is going through raising a teenage daughter. Family means a lot to him. He helps Violet in many ways see how life is important. A great series and a standalone read.
I have to admit I know next to nothing about horses or the great outdoors. However having read this amazing book it has triggered my interest in discovering more.
Gabe and Violet are two lovable and intriguing characters and their interaction and dialogue had my attention from start to finish. I felt their emotions and Violet’s anguish. Gabe took my heart in the way he handled Violet’s indecision. There is so much detailed description that I felt I was living in the various locations, hearing the sounds and smelling the scents.
This really is an incredible story of two interesting people which is written with great skill and empathy. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to all.
This was another solid offering from this series! Violet Ryder lost her fiance in a riding accident and can’t stand to be around people who look at her with pity or expect her to be over it. Gage works for the U.S. Forest Service and is working on the mountain to rebuild a hiking trail. He meets “V” one day and he wants to get to know her but she is reluctant to give him anything of herself. They spend the summer getting to know each other but she refused to tell him anything real. He leaves for home and goes back to his real life. He sees her again when she comes down from the mountain and they can’t stay away from each other. This story was extremely emotional and uplifting at the same time. What a read!
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
I have loved all the books in this series. Actually I have loved everything Leanne has written. But the characters are so real, you fall in love with them. Violet lost her fiancé, and she can’t get over it. Gage has a teenage daughter that comes before everything else. But can a chance encounter, show them they can move on?
