From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, fake relationship romance.Genevieve Daylee didn’t expect to be standing in front of a judge on her twenty-seventh birthday. But ever since her life became entangled with a former motorcycle gang, she’s learned not to expect anything but trouble. Her mother, a woman she once admired and adored, is gone, leaving behind a trail of … gone, leaving behind a trail of secrets and lies. She’s living in a tiny apartment above a garage owned by her brother, a man who loathes her very existence. And the father she met beside her mother’s grave is as much of a stranger as Isaiah Reynolds, the broken man with soulless eyes standing beside her in front of the judge.
Isaiah is her protector from the murderer at large in Clifton Forge. Though he’s more like a riven knight in dented armor than a prince on a white stallion. She knows next to nothing about him, other than he works as a mechanic. As of tonight, he’ll be sharing her bathroom.
And, according to the judge, Isaiah is now her husband.

This book blew me away, this author has a way with words that is simply incredible! I fell in love with the characters and their story because it was raw, beautiful and heartbreaking all in one, I can’t wait to see what the next book brings!
4.5 stars
I have been looking forward to Isaiah’s story since he was introduced in Tragic. I wasn’t sure what he would have to do to make me love him, but I also knew he was already paying for his mistakes prior to Tragic’s timeline. Then meeting Genevieve and reading the teaser for Riven Knight, I couldn’t wait to see why these two felt like marriage was their answer and what would happen to these strangers as they merged their lives, even if as a ruse.
Neither Genevieve nor Isaiah are native to Clifton Forge. Genevieve’s arrival is only due to her mother’s tragic death in town, while Isaiah is rebuilding his life. Neither are directly attached to the former Tin Gypsy MC, but between family and job connections, they have been folded into the Gypsy group, if peripherally. Their marriage is the only way to keep their secrets from the forest safe, to keep each other safe.
This was a major slow burn — after all they are strangers. But as they let down their guard in the safety of their apartment, there is the opportunity not only for a friendship to blossom, but healing as well. Because they are strangers (having met that fateful night in the woods), things are awkward and uncomfortable as they move in together and begin selling the tale of their instant love to their friends. While Dash and Draven are not fully sold on the story, Bryce and Presley love the romanticism of love at first sight. But beyond convincing their friends, they have to learn how to at least be comfortable with each other because who knows how long it will take until it is safe for them to go their separate ways.
I loved watching as they went from strangers to reluctant friends. But even then, it was frustrating to see the wall that was Isaiah’s past looming between them. His resistance to forgive himself kept him from so much. Even though his backstory is explained in Tragic, it is not necessary to know what happened in order to enjoy this story. Eventually his story comes out here, and the not knowing would only add to the depth of that wall between them.
While the beginning was slow to develop, the ending was fast paced and stressful, as I am coming to expect with this series tied to a former MC. The MC drama permeates this story, as does the murder mystery begun in Gypsy King. There is both closure to these storylines and threads woven to spill into Stone Princess, Presley’s book coming in May. With the teaser at the end, I am looking forward to seeing the fallout in Stone Princess.
Overall Grade: +
I have to admit something. I’ve waited to write this review. It isn’t because I didn’t love Riven Knight by Devney Perry. In fact, the opposite is very true. Riven Knight is everything I love about Perry’s storytelling. There is something I can always trust about it. For one, even when there has to be a suspension of disbelief, her ability to make her characters and plotline believable is standard to her books. Secondly, and this is where I struggle to explain and why I’ve waited to write this review, there is something distinct about Perry’s writing voice. There is a humanity behind it. It’s very hard to describe, but she uses her prose to craft characters that invest me in their lives. Every book. Every single book that Perry has put to paper has grabbed a little bit of my soul, so much so that when she announces a book, it finds its way onto my GoodReads TBR immediately. Once the pre-order is available, it is a definitive one-click. Perry humanizes places in the romance world. Her voice is that distinct, and it sets her apart.
When she announced her Tin Gypsies series, there was a part of me that became a little discouraged. I think it’s normal as a reader to determine genres and tropes of which we don’t particularly find an interest. Yes, I acknowledge that that particular mindset is reductive. It isn’t fair to the writers who toil over their book babies to think they can’t do more in a particular genre or trope. I digress. Anyways, after her announcement, I added the books with a little bit of trepidation because I am not a huge fan of MC books. I’ve read a handful, and they typically don’t engage me because I don’t see myself in them. And, for me, that is important. However, that being said, this is Devney Perry, and I trust her storytelling, so I fell into Gypsy King, the first book of the series. Dash and Bryce’s story captured me. It would be short-sighted to simply call it an MC series because Perry also created a romantic suspense with this series. This, coupled with Dash and Bryce’s hate-to-lovers story, was engrossing. However, it didn’t touch my soul in the way that her other books have, and I was a little nervous for Riven Knight. Again, as I’ve shown above, Devney Perry weaves gold into stories, and I greedily grab for that gold. I didn’t want to grow cold for her books, so I was a bit reticent for her newest book. However, I needn’t worry because she created an emotional masterpiece with this one.
For one, Perry is a genius a la Skye Warren and Meghan March who so adeptly craft universes for their romantic characters. I hit almost midway into this book and began jumping up and down because I finally recognized Isaiah. It is no secret that I am horrible with characters. I remember story better than I remember character names. I can tell how a book made me feel, but I probably won’t remember the heroine’s name after some time. When I realized that Perry connected this series to another of her past series (we know this series ties loosely with The Clover Chapel from The Jamison Valley series), I jumped around my house in excitement. Key to an incredible book: it brings out emotions in you. And Perry’s nod to her other series illustrates her prowess in seeing beyond a book to a world. Writers such as that imprint themselves on you. They leave a lasting impact. Perry is that such a writer.
Secondly, Perry’s pacing of the story both drives us forward and slows the reader down building the tension and anticipation of Isaiah and Genevieve’s story. As I was reading Riven Knight, I noted how Draven’s plot-line builds this anticipation towards some end. It has this way of intertwining with Isaiah and Genevieve’s story that this book feels rife with tension. You can’t help but find yourself engrossed in their coupling. And it’s this that causes a reader to binge-read a book such as Riven Knight. I know I couldn’t put it down, and Perry’s crafting of the push and pull between these characters kept me attended to the pages of her story. There are no stutters or stops in this book; it is one seamless read of expectation and anticipation.
Additionally, the message of redemption and forgiveness adds gravity to Riven Knight. This comes layered from various plot lines. This isn’t just about Isaiah accepting responsibility for his past and moving beyond it. This is also about Genevieve forging forward with Draven and finding her place in his heart. Then, there is the resolution of the suspense of this story in a way that causes ripples of forgiveness felt until the end of the story. Perry’s title for this book suggests the opposite. Riven means to “split or tear apart violently.” Instead, her book offers us healing along the seams of the splits of this story. While that seam can never be perfect, leaving a scar in its place, this story reminds us that we can move forward, we can find peace, and this is the power of Riven Knight: the profundity of its message.
Finally, Isaiah and Genevieve’s evolving relationship requires an act of patience. This is not a criticism. It illustrates Perry’s care in developing their love at their own pace. It would have been easy to rush them into a love relationship. However, these two carry personal demons that must be rectified and healed before they can fully love each other. Perry carefully builds their friendship first as a way to provide themselves support. In the midst of this evolution, there are times when their journey comes to a halt, requiring the reader to wait. When they move forward again, it is usually with longer strides than before. Again, this showcases Perry’s pacing superpower. Hidden in this skill is her talent for capturing her readers and keeping them fixed to her page. I’d like to imagine many of her readers are like me, and they find themselves binge-reading her book because her characters and their stories compel them to keep reading until the very end. In the case of Riven Knight, Isaiah and Genevieve’s story is a gripping exploration of love and its means of redeeming one’s sins. On their journey, their personal growth allows them to cultivate their growth together. This is the beauty of Perry’s story.
Riven Knight is classic Devney Perry in the context of her character development and storytelling. Her genius is set on display as she ties in this book to her expansive universe, and her story-telling here is impeccable in its emotional reach. I simply could not put Isaiah and Genevieve’s story down, and the emotions it unleashed in its wake are typical of any of her books. It doesn’t matter if she writes about nurses or bar owners or Native Americans or former MC members or cops. Within each of their stories, there is an imprint that is all Devney Perry.
I absolutely loved Gypsy King, and having read Tragic, I was aware of some of Isaiah’s back story and I couldn’t wait to read Riven Knight, the second title in the Tin Gypsy series and it didn’t disappoint.
Honestly marriage of convenience stories are not one of my go to tropes, but Genevieve and Isaiah’s story is so much more. Riven Knight is an emotional, gritty, slow burn romance, bull of intrigue, suspense, pain, heartbreak and suffering.
Genevieve Daly is a fighter, her life is in a shambles, she’s been thrust into a marriage of convenience and everything she thought she knew about her mother’s life is now shrouded in mystery and deceit, and is determined to find answers. Genevieve is everything I look for in a heroine, she’s strong, capable, intelligent, brave and driven.
Isaiah Reynolds is a enigmatic, tortured soul. He is a gruff, brooding hero with a complicated past that haunts him, but it’s his protective, caring and fierce nature that makes him all the more appealing and sexy, not to mention the tattoos.
Once again I was completely captivated and cannot wait to see more of the Tin Gypsy’s in Stone Princess.
Genevieve knows a thing or two about having your life turned upside down. With a heart filled with grief at the death of her mother, Genevieve is now faced with the shock of meeting a family that was unknown to her. With a murderer on the loose, Genevieve is overwhelmed in the face of the chaos surrounding her mother’s death. More questions than answers are the cloud that hangs over Genevieve during one of the most difficult times in her life. There is a bright light through the darkened skies, and it comes in the form of a man that Genevieve knows very little about.
Isaiah is trying to rebuild his life after a stint in prison. The biker knows just how difficult it is to see through the darkness, and he is determined to help Genevieve through her struggles. As the chaos unravels from the former Tin Gypsies reign, Isaiah offers to help Genevieve the only way he knows how. With a trip to City Hall, the duo weds in a secret ceremony. As the duo tries to keep their marriage under wraps, the perils of Genevieve’s mother’s death finds a way to creep back into their lives. Where will the chaos lead in the quest to uncover the truth?
Get ready to return to life in the shadows of the Tin Gypsies. Isaiah and Genevieve are pulled into the chaos of the former biker club. A tragedy has managed to uproot all of the progress that was made to lay the turmoil from the past to rest. If a murder, trial and discover of a ‘new’ family wasn’t enough to send Genevieve running for the hills, then the pull of a marriage to a man she hardly knows might be the trick. One thing is certain, nothing will be the same until this mystery unfolds.
Riven Knight will lead fans of the series on another journey of discovery and secrets. This series is definitely one that unfolds bit by bit. So – make certain you read the books in chronological order. Devney Perry has created quite the unique setting for this group of tattered characters. It’s a world that breathes new life into a trope that will leave you desperate to learn more about the lives of this interwoven characters. I loved every single moment of Isaiah and Genevieve’s journey, and can’t wait to see what is in store for Presley with the next book!!!
The love story is new, the suspense and mystery continues..
Riven Knight, is book 2 in the Tin Gypsy series, If you have read the first book Gypsy King then I am sure you are also anxiously waiting to know what the story is behind the secretive ex-con mechanic Isiah and his relationship with Genevieve who has recently come discovered who her father is following her mothers death.
The mystery and suspense continues following Amina’s death. Amina is Genevieve’s mother and also the woman Draven ex-president of the Tin Gypsy’s, Dash’s father and Genevieve’s father had a one night stand with and after he left she was later murdered but the police are pointing the finger at Draven. The ex Gypsy members, Isaiah and Genevieve, the lawyer, all are getting involved to try and discover who the killer was, looking for clues as the trial draws closer for Draven who is the biggest suspect.
There are so many twists and turns, layers, and layers to this story and so much suspense, I loved it! and the relationship between Genevieve and Isiah was nail-biting, such a slow burner, I was so eager for them to make it work.
A total roller-coaster of a ride, a definite series to follow and so different to most MC romance reads I have read.
This isn’t your typical MC, the Tin Gypsy MC is out of business, the loyal members continue to work at the garage but just because there is no club business or club anymore doesn’t mean it lacks angst, danger, and on the edge stuff. I cannot wait for the next book in the series, I’m addicted.
TOLD IN FIRST PERSON POV. LEADS TO HFN. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND READING AS A STANDALONE.
Riven Knight was so fantastic! Page after page I fell even more in love with Genevieve and Isiah. I loved the slow burn to their relationship and all the feelings and emotions the story brought out in me. I was hooked on the suspense element and was on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was exciting to read and I loved every second!
„Do you think, someday, the past will stop defining who you are?”
What happens when one of your favorite authors writes a book with one of your favorite tropes? You raise your fists into the air and shout ‘Hell yes!’. I’m completely addicted to this series, especially after Riven Knight. This book sucked me in from the very first page. I was obsessed with Isaiah already in Gypsy King and considering the events that took place there, I was looking forward to his own book. And Devney did not disappoint, because she gave me a heartbreakingly beautiful and suspenseful story about healing and coming to terms with the past.
Isaiah is the type of hero I consider my Achilles heel. Extremely enigmatic, tortured, complicated and silent. He’s also very protective and selfless. His brooding persona made me want to peel his layers and see what’s underneath. The heartbreaking events from his past made him live every day with an unimaginable sense of guilt and made him withdrawn. But as soon as he put his walls down, he became the most loveable guy ever.
Genevieve is a fighter. Pulled into the chaos that disrupted her life and undermined evrything she knew about her own family, she was determined to get answers. She’s brave and strong. Thrown into fake marriage to protect the person who saved her life she has proved to be caring and upstanding.
The circumstances in which they were bonded were far from favorable. However, when two lonely people with the same goal have to pretend to be in love, everything can happen. Especially when these two share a common secret and mutual protectioniveness. Isaiah and Genevieve’s love story is a heartwarming and delicious slow-burn. Their journey to happy ending is not easy, it’s overshadowed by ghosts from the past and unsolved murder, but it’s beautiful nonetheless. I had tears in my eyes when they both let their guards down.
Devney mixed suspenseful and thrilling story with a heartbreakingly beautiful romance. Riven Knight is very emotional and poignant. It gave me all the feels in the world and I didn’t want it to end. I got the answers I was seeking, but it also made me hungry for more. I can’t wait for the Stone Princess!

Devney Perry has done it again!! If you read and loved Gypsy King, then hold onto your socks because Riven Knight will blow them right off!!
I always look forward to a book by Devney Perry, her books have become my most anticipated books. And every time I read one, they blow my mind. Her books are the perfect mix of romance, suspense and emotion.
I usually don’t read many MC books, but Devney has a way of writing them that make them feel so different than any other MC book out there. Trust me, even if you are not a fan of MC books, you will want to read this series.
Riven Knight is the second book in this series. You could say it is a standalone book, because it is about a new couple, but truly I think you NEED to read Gypsy King first. In the first book we were left on kind of a cliffhanger in the epilogue, which led to this story. Isaiah and Genevieve’s story picks up right where that epilogue left off. At the end of book 1 we were left with some questions. Those questions are all answered in this book. So it is my strong recommendation to read Gypsy King first then read Riven Knight. This book is told in Dual POV. I loved the flow and pace of the story. This book is a romantic suspense and it totally kept me guessing. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the read.
In this book we follow the story of Isaiah and Genevieve (V). I can’t say much about their storyline, because it could be considered spoilers for either this book or Gypsy King. I will say this, Isaiah and V meet under some tense situations in the first book, which in turn carry over into this book. Their story is all about the secrets that both Isaiah and V hold. We know something happened to them in book 1 but what it was isn’t revealed until you read this book. What this book shows, is how two people who start under weird circumstances can turn it into something more.
What I loved the most about this couple was even though they had a rough start of things, they stuck by each other when it mattered most. The bond they formed was special. I loved watching this couple blossom and grow together.
As we know this series is a spin off from Devney’s Jamison Valley Series. The MC club in this series was first introduced in the second book of the Jamison Series. But what I loved while reading this book was that we have another tie in to one of Devney’s books. Isaiah is actually the brother of Kaine, who we met in Tragic (3rd book in the Lark Cove Series) I loved seeing Kaine and Piper again. Catching up with them was a special treat while reading this book. No you don’t have to read any of the books mentioned before enjoying this series.
I am so excited to read the next books coming in this series.
This is one of my favorite books for 2020. You will want to add this to your TBR list NOW!!! Don’t miss this series…..READ IT NOW!!!!
4.5 stars
This continues the story that began in Gypsy King. Lives were changed due to murders, a setup, a kidnapping, and a bunch of secrets. And I did not even realize when I read the first book that Isaiah is Kaine’s brother from Gypsy KinTragic adding more depth to his history. But that is explained in this book as well.
Genevieve came to town to visit her murdered mother’s grave and got all mixed up in the whole mess. And she found an unexpected ally and helper in Isaiah. Afterward, the two of them kept quiet about their part in the events and hatched a plan to protect each other. She now has had to leave her life in the city in order to make at least a temporary home in Clifton Forge. And while there, she is also dealing with secrets her mother kept that are affecting her life now. But she is also smart, resourceful, and determined to find out who to blame.
Isaiah is an ex-con who is just trying to find a new life. He keeps his head down, works hard, and has to live with his demons and lack of self-worth. His history is tragic and it cost him everything. Now he is just trying to protect himself and Genevieve. But he knows it cannot be more than that since he does not think he would ever deserve her. He is a quiet, stoic, and broken man, but he is there for her.
These two are thrust into an awkward situation where they have to lie to those around them and try to co-exist in close quarters. There are still unanswered questions, unsolved murders, unknown enemies, threats, and a whole lot of tension.
I have to admit that I had a hard time connecting to Isaiah and Genevieve as a couple. I know it was supposed to be two strangers living together. I also understood that they were guarded and afraid. But the fact that is was such a slow process and slow-burn not to make any gains at all until like sixty percent was kind of frustrating and made me lose patience at times. Isaiah, bless his heart, was just so closed off and self-deprecating that he had such a hard time even imagining the idea of love or happiness. And she relied on him but was afraid of spooking him when she pushed too hard. Ever so slowly, things did start to progress.
But I have to say the last part of the book moved faster and brought more of a connection, more emotions, action, surprises, and tied up a lot of loose ends. I was glad that we got the answers I wanted and they were not withheld until the next book. I was surprised by how some things turned out, and overall I leave their story satisfied. It was mysterious, emotional, hopeful, and showed the importance of finding people to have your back.
I am excited to get to Presley’s book, Stone Princess and the rest of the series hopefully with Leo and Emmett finding their matches.

Isaiah and Genevieve are the most selfless people I have ever read. Lana~White Hot Reads
They do the unthinkable and get married in order to save each other. Over the course of their marriage, they learn to open up and trust again. All the while slowly falling in love with each other while trying to figure out things. The book starts off where it left off in book one and gives you all the angst, pent up sexually chemistry and love you could ever imagine.
*** Riven Knight is the second book in the Tin Gyspy series. You need to read The Gyspy King before reading Riven Knight***
Riven Knight is Genevieve and Isaiah’s story; we met them in The Gyspy King when Genevieve’s mother, Amina, was viciously slaughtered at a local motel and Draven, her father is the prime suspect in her murder. Genevieve leaves Denver, Colorado, for Bozeman, Montana, to visit her mother’s grave except she finds herself kidnapped, tied up and in the trunk of a car with another woman, Bryce. Bryce, the reporter for Clifton Forge who has been investigating the murder and the former motorcycle club, Tin Gyspys. The kidnapping leads the Tin Gyspys to the top of a mountain where all hell breaks loose. Bryce ran in one direction, while Genevieve in the other, towards a cabin to take cover and rest. Isaiah and Genevieve are seen together walking up the staircase to his apartment over the garage. Riven Knight picks up from here, what happened in that cabin, and what prevails from there, do they find out who killed her mother, is Draven convicted of murder? Do Dash and Nick accept Genevieve as their half-sister, and protect her from the Warriors? Who is Isaiah Reynolds, and why are they standing in front of a judge? This story is well written, flows easily and answers all the questions that were left unanswered in the Gyspy King. Deveny Perry is an amazing storyteller!
Wow. I’m at a loss of words to say how amazing this book was. It picked up right where Gypsy King ended. It gave me all the feels! My heart hurts so much for Isaiah and Genevieve…two really broken people finding comfort in each other even when they’re both strangers. There were so much pain, doubts, hurt, anger. It took Isaiah and Genevieve awhile to really open up with each other, but when they did, it was so heart wrenching. I freaking cried. Genevieve lost her beloved mother who she thinks was this perfect person, but was totally not what she expected. Isaiah’s story was revealed already from Devney’s other book, Tragic. I won’t spoil his story in case you haven’t read Tragic, which you should. u2063

Besides the pain, there was so much suspense and angst that kept me at the edge of my seat throughout the book. I couldn’t put it down at all. Devney totally hit it out of the park with this one. Highly, HIGHLY recommended! I can’t wait to read Stone Princess next. u2063
The book was amazing!! Riven Knights by Devney Perry was an extraordinary follow up to Gypsy King. Genevieve and Isiah’s chemistry is beautiful to read, all the trials and tribulations they have to face together really brought them closer, even if they aren’t actually married. I truly couldn’t keep my eyes away from the pages once I started reading, I was to captivated by the storyline. I recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense mixed in with romance.
Another amazing book by Devney Perry! After reading book one, I was waiting for book two and it did not disappoint. Riven Knight begins right where Gypsy King ends. This book is about Isaiah and Genevieve and I loved it so much! I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll just say that this book was full of suspense and amazing characters.
Devney has done another fantastic job. I cannot wait for Stone Princess!!
5 Stars!
Another fantastic addition to the series, I really enjoyed the ongoing backstory as well as the deliciously slow burn relationship between Genevieve and Isaiah. I am looking forward to more of this series!
Devney Perry is the queen of suspenseful romance and Riven Knight is her newest masterpiece. I savored each and every delicious word and am left with the most wonderful book hangover. This is not your predictable marriage of convenience story and I was surprised at every turn of the page. Genevieve and Isaiah’s story is written with so much heart and believability and perfectly paced. Woven into their love story are all the answers left over from Gypsy King and peeks into the next book in the Tin Gypsy series, Stone Princess.
I will NOT give spoilers but you MUST read Gypsy King first! I loved GK and couldn’t wait for Riven Knight. Isaiah was so haunted and i couldn’t wait to see his interactions with Genevieve. This story was PERFECT. It was a slow burn and the suspense that carried over from Gypsy King was awesome. I am anxious for more characters from the Tin Gypsies Crew. Amazing read! I highly recommend!!
Before anything I just want to say I loved this book, so many feels and there were tears shed but it worth it!
Genevieve and Isaiah’s story is the second book in the Tin Gypsy’s series. It’s starts as them getting married to protect each other from things that happened at the end of the first book which I’d highly recommend reading!
They both have issues to overcome, Isaiah from a past mistake that he carries so much guilt. Genevieve has to deal with her mother’s death and lies and also dealing with her new family. The one secret they hold together can bring much more trouble and they want to deal with.
Watching them go from strangers to friends to more and the walls that fall all around was even better even though at times heartbreaking!
Devney Perry is definitely an auto one click author for me and she has yet to disappoint!
