Rival Temptation by Athena Braveheart.
I gave this book a 5+

WOW….this was another home run of a book for Athena Braveheart.
I was totally hooked on the story right from the first page, and I couldn’t put it down….. let’s me tell you I read into the night (like 3am late) LOL, and it had me grabbing my tissues more times than I could count! Amazingly beautiful, well written, emotional, sexy, funny, a bit of mystery suspense, greatest dad in the world, good secondary characters, the bantering in-between Maxine and Luke was really good. She can definitely hold her own against his play boy adonis good looks, and arrogant attitude!
These two lawyer’s were very similar, both stubborn, and hard-working people with high achievement goals.

*** I glanced up and caught his reflection in the mirrored doors. Handsome. Extremely so. Chiseled jaw and a slightly off-centered nose. This minor flaw only made him more attractive. I blinked and recentered myself. I usually wasn’t one who took the time to notice such things. Boys weren’t on my radar in high school any more than men were now. I considered them distractions. Unnecessary and even dangerous. I didn’t have time to waste on romance. Building a life as an attorney was all I wanted since the age of five. I planned to make partner before the age of twenty-eight, just like my brother. Maybe sooner. Now that I’d come this far, I wasn’t about to get sidetracked.***
They both have a long journey ahead of them to get to their HEA, but atlast they do….worth taking the time to read this book, it’s simply a masterpiece!

Beautifully written, well-developed, emotionally deep, and heart melting! It is drama-filled, funny, and witty; a fun fast pace page-turner that is intriguing with some ups and downs. Amazing characters who are deep, strong, and just perfect for each other; the chemistry between them is intense, instant, and hot! The ending is very satisfying and I recommend it strongly.

I enjoyed the storyline of Rival Temptation, good characters and written well, I just did not like the chemistry between the characters. There was something about Luke that bothered me through the entire book. He was jealous of his best friend for making partner first, he was rude and a complete jerk to Max. Even though he becomes a somewhat better person through the book I couldn’t fully like him. Everytime Max and Luke were together I just did not feel the chemistry it felt forced. I will read another book from Athena Braveheart as I said I liked the writing.

I had to continue reading it without stopping because I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. It is very well written and put together.

I really enjoyed this book. I think the author done an excellent job with the storyline. The characters are so arresting with their arguments trying to hide the lust. This is a must read with a hea.

She writes from the heart
The moment that Luke laid eyes on Max he was hooked. She was his coworker and his best friend’s little sister. That was a recipe for disaster.
Forgiveness is the theme that resonated with me. These engaging characters had all been through a loss of some sort, and that had made them stronger as individuals. As the patriarch, Max’s Dad was the glue that kept this family together, Luke included. Losing his mother had shaped him into the man that he was now and even though his record with women may not have made him admirable, his story touched my heart.
Loved the concept and HEA. The emotions, conflicts and triumphs had me in awe, I couldn’t put it down.

Rival Temptation, by Athena Braveheart, is a poignant and witty romance. From the beginning, there is a tense passion between the two main characters that doesn’t wane through the entire book. David Devon is a lawyer, a partner in Barnes, Hopkins and Devon. Because of his influence, his sister has earned a job with his firm just after passing the bar. Arriving early on her first day of work, Maxine Devon (Max) finds herself in the elevator with Luke Johnson, also a partner in the firm. He’s resentful, however, of Max’s brother because David made partner before Luke. He doesn’t realize that this is David’s sister and it doesn’t go so well in the elevator. Sparks of every sort are flying! Max thinks he’s really attractive but a pompous jerk who objectifies women. Luke, for his part, is curious about this woman and knows there’s something underneath her stuffy, professional vibe. David has warned Luke to stay away from his Max and this is starting out well! Clashing and arguing is an understatement to what happens between them and yet, there’s a definite attraction for them both. Remembering what David said to Luke about hands off his little sister, he is conflicted about showing his growing feelings for Max. When they do show that they care about each other, they feel guilty because David would be so upset. They face a turning point in their relationship when it just about turns into something more. Luke is hiding a painful secret that he has to deal with before he can be totally honest with Max. It’s heartbreaking and you can only hope that his soul can come to terms with his heartache. Max is worth fighting for! Rival Temptation is truly a feel good story and the epilogue brings it full circle for everybody involved. Wonderfully done!

As great a book as the last one and just as well written. The plot and characters are really great in this book as well as the last one.

All I’ve ever wanted was to be a lawyer. With an IQ of 150, it didn’t take me long. On my first day, I run into the vainest, egotistical and HOT man I’ve ever met. I’m no pushover so I let him have it. Tell me, why did he have to be from the same firm I’m to work at. On top of that, he’s my brothers best bro?
Luke
Who is this? Dressed like a librarian. She reminds me of the one I had an affair with when I was in college. I made reference of it to her. She had a quick come back. Little did I know she was a new hire to the firm I work with. To top that, she is my best bro’s little sister.
We hate each other. We kiss. We’re lost!!
Great read. Lots of fun, laughter, and suspense.
