New teachers, new students, and new magical secrets. The statues at La Voisin aren’t what they seem, and one in particular appears to have changed his position since last semester. But statues can’t move. Can they?A single touch to the stone figure reveals a life before this one. One where the statue made a brother pact with another man. A very familiar man. Unfortunately, Madison can’t seem to … man. Unfortunately, Madison can’t seem to place him in her mind.
But just when Madison thinks that’s the only mystery on her plate, her young new roommate goes missing, and her quest to find answers brings new light to the vision of the two men and reveals the dark secrets that run deep at this not-so-innocent school for witches.

Loved this as much as the first book and still left me wanting more. The mystery is deepening the characters are more intriguing, as a second book it didn’t disappoint. Can’t wait to read the next one.

This story kept me intrigued right the way through from the start to the end, I can’t wait for the third story in this series now to hopefully get some answer to the questions raised in this story

This is the second book in the Academy of the Damned and I highly recommend you read book 1, Curse of Stone, first.
It’s a new year at La Voisin and Madison is back, this time with a new roommate. Now this one’s gone missing and Madison and her friends must find her in time. The statues are still moving and leaving her messages, and Giselle’s ghost is still there haunting her. I’m really glad that they haven’t pushed Madison into a relationship since her boyfriend died in book one. Let her grieve and move on when she’s ready.
Madison still has to figure out who she can truly trust, there’s great plot twists, and I love the world building that’s been going on in this series.
Great mystery, a wonderful level of suspense. Perfect for teens and above. This is a great series and I can’t wait for book three to come out.
**I received a copy from Booksprout and this is my honest and voluntary review
Madison’s first roommate was killed, the second has mysteriously disappeared. Giselle’s ghost asked her to help them, and the statue in the grotto wants her help. When she is attacked by one of the teachers, twice, Madison is fed up and ready to leave La Voisin, forever. After a conversation with an acquaintance in the nearby village, Madison decides to stay, and try one more time to save her young roommate, and solve the mystery of the statues.
Madison is feisty, fierce, and determined, I love her. Well written, and compelling characters. Exciting, read with some suspense, and plenty of interesting twists in the plot that kept me guessing. Fantastic book, I’m already looking forward to the next one.

Amazing book!!!
This second book in the series is even better than the first one, the mysteries keep growing, the friendship solidifying, some clues here and there keep appearing, the statues keep moving, now Madison has proof of that, a walk to Town turned out to be something more, much more, another roommate missing, of course that had to happen again … And now Madison finally meet the mysterious guy… and there was no more pages left… What?, seriously?, you’re killing me with that cliffhanger … Can’t wait for the next book, need it now!!!

Thrilling and spellbinding! I absolutely loved the first book in the series and this one was even better. If you’re looking for a fast-paced urban fantasy filled with magic, then Ritual of Magic is the perfect book!

Madison Whitaker is ready; ready to return to La Voisin, the witches’ academy, and resume her studies. She can hardly WAIT to see her friends Ivy, Krista and Jaxon. Madison is more than ready for a new school year without the trauma and drama of last year. Finding the killer of her roommate Giselle, and helping Giselle’s spirit to cross over was enough excitement to last Madison a lifetime…
Discovering she has a new roommate, Zoey Rhee, was a startling surprise, but not an unpleasant one. Madison and Zoey quickly bond over their mutual feelings of loss, and Madison is happy to have another new friend. Madison and Zoey quickly fall into a routine; all is going well until…
Discovery of a magical artefact believed to be more myth than fact, a mysterious missive appearing from thin air; an attack by selkies…. Other strange and potentially deadly events occur, leaving Madison wondering… what is happening to her?? Is she losing her mind, or are her powers developing far beyond anything she’s been taught can possibly be?
Oh my! Another wild roller coaster ride! Loved every word!
This series is just getting better and better. Love the mystery and suspense that keeps me addicted to this story. Not usually a big fan of YA stories but this one is so worth the read. Can’t wait to grab book 3.

Madison is in her second year at La Voison school for witches. Her new room mate has disappeared and Madison is trying to find out what happened and hopefully get her back. The statues in the school grounds are most definitely moving – albeit very slowly – and never when anyone can see. There seems to be some kind of connection between one of them and Madison – although she doesn’t know what it is. Something strange is also going on with the teachers and Madison no longer trusts them. She enlists the help of the few friends she has at the school to try and unravel the mystery.
