Rite of the Omega is a full length dark Omegaverse novel with a guaranteed HEA. It contains dark themes and complete power exchange. Scenes are not glossed over, which may be distressing for some readers.

Oh my poor, sweet Aida. If you want some help disemboweling Er’it with a rusty spoon then I am more than happy to offer my services.
Rite of Omega is, quite simply, a captivating, dark, fantasy omegaverse tale. It was a story I couldn’t put down, a story of pain and suffering, a story of dark deeds and twisted souls, a story of a corrupted alpha and an unwitting omega. Eva Dresden has created a dark, middle ages style world, one where magic is every day and omegas are more rare than the Gutenberg Bible. The author imbues such emotion into her descriptions, painting mesmerising images with her words. She leaves some of aspects a little open and vague, allowing the reader to make their own interpretation,
As the first of a duet, there wasn’t a great deal of ‘romance’ in this part, just as there often isn’t in the first half of a novel. I know without a doubt that this will unfold in the second half. Possibly when absence makes the heart grow fonder, or indeed wakes up the block headed lout and opens his eyes to the future he may just have squandered. There is an undeniable chemistry between Aida and Er’it, and it was during these passionate scenes that he showed glimpses of just how caring he could have been, though often it angered him so much he reverted to his poor treatment of her. I couldn’t help but adore Aida, what some might consider doormat tendencies, I saw as years of abuse and conditioning to never question, keep your head down and follow the rules.
Initially, I though Er’it might discover some redeeming features, might show some care for Aida. Boy oh boy I couldn’t have been more wrong. The inhumane and degrading acts he subjected Aida to were, at times, heartbreaking. Yet I found myself unable to hate him, like Aida there was something about him that called to me. He has a long way to go before he has redeemed himself, and I’m almost hoping it requires him walking barefoot over hot coals, strewn with broken glass, whilst being whipped with stinging nettles. Even then I might need to see more suffering from him. Perhaps Kel will stick that horn where the sun doesn’t shine, Er’it deserves it.
I can’t wait for part two – particularly not after that intriguing cliff-hanger.
Using her unique writing style which captivates you from the first moment you open the book, the author introduces you to a fantastic universe with unforgettable characters and ancient old prophecies where magic and power rule. And in this world, when dominant alphas fighting for supremacy learn of the existence of a being gifted with powerful magic then one can be sure they will not leave even a single stone unturned until they find her.
But here where feelings and emotions are seen as weaknesses and where lust and desire are just a means to an end to achieve even more strenght……what can an innocent soul do when she is the one the alphas want?
Even after her alpha finds her they will both have to learn the hard way that their connection is more than meets the eye. They will break in ways none of them imagined and they will rise from their own ashes wiser and even more powerful than ever before because they aren’t just an ordinary alpha and omega pair.
I really hope I have piqued your interest and I highly recommend you give this book a try because it really deserves it!
Holy Shit!… first i just want to say i want to throat punch a motherfucker! damn this story is dark!
Aida… that poor girl has no idea who or what she is. other then to think that everything is her fault. that every bad thing that happens to her is her fault because of what she is… poor girl doesn’t even know her real name. even that has been stolen from her. and then she finds herself in the hands of Er’it. another man who is looking to use her for what he can take from her, treats her horribly. believes nothing she says even though if he just asks it could be proven. she is just a sacrifice to him in his quest for more power.
my heart breaks for this poor girl. such a sweet innocent girl. used by the men around her for what they want to take from her.
i find it very interesting for a omegaverse book that nobody in this book has seen omegas in a very long time. and has no idea how the omega behaves or even really what she is. she is treated as if she is doing something wrong or as if it is her fault what happens when she is around men. as if she has bewitched them. its a very interesting change for omegaverse.
i loved this book, even though it breaks my heart and i just want to kill some alphas. i can’t wait for the next story to see how this will play out…. i’m kind of hoping that Aida is gonna kick some sense into Er’its thick head. actually im hoping she kicks his ass and makes him grovel big time. because he so deserves that after the way he has treated her. i highly recommend this book to anybody who loves a good dark omegaverse story!
I love omegaverse and this is a whole new spin on it. It’s not just Alpha and Omega its magic and mages. It’s unique, I love it. I can’t wait to read the next book.
I’m hoping it will get better with the second book. It moved slow, lots of threads that aren’t linking yet. Also the character of the omegas is not memorable cause I forgot her name… She doesn’t grasp concepts for someone who thinks and acts in survival mode.
I’ve waited for this treasure since so long. I knew I was going to love this book and I wasn’t disappointed.
Eva Dresden is shamelessly known for her ruthless and treacherous plot. It is crazy and at the same time torrid. If you’re new to Eva’s reads then let me warn you, her rich writing has a spell which you can’t undo (and you don’t want to) and to us old readers of Eva Dresden, you harlots, we absolutely love her brutal Alphas, tragic Omegas and the depraved way the people are treated in the Alpha world. Here is another of Eva’s treat.
Set in primitive old-fashioned era of carts, horses, castles, tents, this is a fantasy build in magical world. Omegas are rare, they hold powerful magic which anyone will do anything to attain. The first Omega born after centuries is snatched from her cradle and kept away from the world by a cruel mage. Aida was sweet and harmless who has led a life of miserable injustice served by the mage.
“Her misery never mattered, her pain as unimportant as the dirt they ground beneath their feet.”
Er’it is out for revenge, which led him to Aida. Taking Aida along with him, he learns of her dynamic and her uses. He is one of the cruelest hero created by Eva Dresden so far. If you thought Tobias (hero from Omega’s Destruction series) brutal then you’re in for surprise with Er’it. Now I get why my GR Omegaverse friends were laughing when I asked about Er’it. Er’it is confused by his conflicted feelings for Aida, her uncontrollable magic makes him suspicious blaming all the misfortune on her. While she is his captive he is protective and possessive of her. In this book there is no kindness for Aida.
“Omegas had no power of their own, and he’d be thrice damned if he let this one control him.”
The characters are complexive and the plot brutal.
I like
-the characters names, they seem unique and perfectly matched with the time era
-the language maintainance
-even the bloody horse or Phylix, Khal
Er’it is on the verge of losing his humanity. Aida does take the burnt of his anger, she is so new and alone in the world of power-hungry people.
“Blinked hard and fast to will away a fresh wash of tears as it left her adrift, abandoned in yet another moment of need.”
The next book may be of Aida, guessing with the cliffhanger the author left us.
Rarely am I so torn about a book. The story was filled with angst and I had a difficult time finding any redeeming qualities Er’it the leading m. I found him to be cruel without any gentleness or even the smallest kindness to offset the cruelty heaped upon the heroine Aida. The omega Aida has been beaten down by her circumstances and abused by Er’it who covets the power Aida has no idea resides within her. She unleashes this power upon Otaso her guardian otherwise known as the mage who killed her parents and most of her people and stole her away with the intention of sacrificing her and harnessing the power within her. All Aida has known is cruelty first from Otaso and Immari her maid, then Er’it. I had a very tough time finding anything to like about Er’it and by the end of the book that does end on a cliffhanger, I wanted to pummel him with very large stones. Thank goodness for Kal and Maruk otherwise this omega would have languished in the mire and hopelessness. The book itself was well written and I hope that we see some redemption of Er’it because right now I’d just like to beat the s..t out of him.
Rite of the omega is a carefully woven tale of deception, ” romance “, sadness and life. The story is definitely on the darker side with a little bit of Stockholm syndrome coming into it, as a warning. Eva has broken into the Omegaverse seen and is definitely here to stay!!!
Aida was stolen by an alpha after he killed her father and she has no recollection of this. She lives a ” pampered” life, and has no understanding of the outside world, just as he wants. This all gets turned upside down and the only thing she can do is survive; as she has been doing her whole life. A secret Omega
Er’it is an alpha with demons…… He believes he is different, but is he really? Er’it punishes for his own shortcomings and weaknesses, somehow he justifies this!?!
I personally really enjoyed the story and cannot wait for the second half. Aida I believe is very strong she just has not come into her strength yet. it’s coming and she will truly be a force to be reckoned with!! I can’t really give an opinion of Er’its ways, because I don’t believe I got to know him very well in this first half. Although I cannot wait to get to know him and his redeeming qualities (if he has them). Er’it has my hate now, but hopefully soon it’ll be my love. I will definitely be rereading while I impatiently wait for the next book.
Well here we are again, thrown into a new world! One with Alphas, Omegas and Betas and just to keep you on your toes: Magic as well. This is a world full of possibilities and I was not disappointed. Eva manages to create characters that draw me in and keep me riveted. Hoping for the best and wondering what else could possibly go wrong! I am waiting with baited breath to see what happens to Aida and her chosen Alpha Er’it.
Wow! Intense in a most glorious way.
If this is your first Eva Dresden book, you are about to enter a depraved and deeply unsettling omega-verse that may haunt you. But it WILL keep you coming back!
Rite of the Omega: Blood Rites Duet book #1, reveals a tale that pulls at you, like a thread from our Omega’s torn clothing. It will keep you questioning what you have read and just what Eva has in store for her and her Alpha.
The darkness that pervades this story will haunt you as you travel a journey that may cause you to question your own moral compass.
!!! Make sure you read Eva’s other stories, as well !!!
Not what I was expecting of this book. I must say that I must have been quite distracted since I had to reread some parts to because I was left with questions of what was going on. However, reading further into the books, the answers were revealed enough so that you get an idea of what had transpired before. Definitely not the typical Omegaverse story line one is used to reading in this genre. I like how magic is a part of this world building and I can’t wait to see how that all plays out in the next book. I didn’t like how our Omega was treated but I can’t be angry as well due to the history of what an Omega stands for in this universe. I’m sure the table will get turned on us, LOL. Can’t wait to read the next one!
An unusual combination within this story. Magic, mages and omegas. For Aida, her life has been one of coldness, locked inside with the guardian who treats her coldly and waits to gain something from her. Told stories which confuse her, only being allowed what he wants and knowing that is magic is deadly after bearing the cruelty of it. On her birthday the last thing she expected was to be left languishing in a cell.
For Er’It, this moment is it. He finally has the Black Mage at the throat, all the years of fighting and sacrifices to power increase has come to this, it’s time to take him down. But things are not what they seems and the revenge he is after, is cold. With a woman found , her smell and magic compels him..this is not what he desires and his actions from the first meeting proves it.
This book contains some dub-con scenes will will no doubt agitate some readers, Er’it behaviour and dominance over a naive Aida will leave you wanting to punch him. There are many unanswered questions here in this book and a few flowery prose areas that just left me wondering and confused honestly. However, this is certainly interesting and the ending of this leaves you wanting for the next part of the series.
Dark, dominant, and depraved. Aida’s life has been ruthlessly stolen from her almost since the moment of her birth. Left an orphan, purposefully secluded from the world, not one but two alphas vie to unlock the endless source of magic that resides deep within Aida. Beaten, used, almost broken, our Omega tries to navigate a world of which she has no knowledge of and tries to find peace and protection in the arms of the very Alpha that would see to her death. WARNING: this book is pretty dark and our h experiences trauma regularly. NOT for the faint of heart. For those that love the dark, I highly recommend!
Captivating Dark Fantasy Omegaverse
I loved this book. A favorite.
This is looking to become one of my favorite Omegaverse series. The world-building, mythology, lore, is all so rich. I adore Aida, a tragic character whose been caught between two Alphas. Er’it is a true anti-hero who has been corrupted by the path he’s chosen in life and Aida is now caught in his web.
I’m particular about high fantasy with magic, but I ate up the descriptions of magic in this book.
Warning though…I hated Er’it and so will you. This first installment didn’t feel romantic but I see potential for the next book. Eagerly awaiting book 2.
5 stars.
When I usually think of dark reads I think about the physical aspects of what that means. That also includes the mind games and the control aspects. There are a few authors who go a little deeper and tap into the emotional aspects, and that’s what Eva Dresden has done with this one. I seriously wanted to cry through the entire story. I don’t think there was a single page where my heart wasn’t breaking for Aida. There were also very few pages where I didn’t want to throat punch someone. That’s how much this story sucked me in.
One of the things I love about the Omegaverse trope is the multitude of directions authors take. This one blends elements of magic and wizards, giving the story a fresh feel that I found very satisfying. Another thing that made this one unique is that Omegas aren’t well understood. They are an unknown, and that has an affect on how the people around Aida treat her.
As far as the story itself, it’s wonderfully written and kept me interested from beginning to end. The world building is great, the character development is amazing, and there are twists and turns in the plot that I wasn’t expecting. There are also some intensely dark sexy scenes. It does end in a cliffhanger, a serious cliffhanger, and I’m hopeful that the wait for book 2 won’t be long. I’m dying to know where Aida’s journey goes next.
I almost don’t know how to describe this book other than WOW! It may not be for some but as for me, it’s right up my alley. A dark Omega-verse for sure.
Aida was taken as a baby because of what she is of which she has no idea. Otaso took her and hid her away. She was then taken by Er’it. He took what he wanted from her and she liked it. Although he treats her so bad. Er’it doesn’t like that he loses himself just by being around her. Aida has no idea of what is really going on. She has very low self-esteem that has been drilled into her. Everything is her fault and she doesn’t know why. Er’it and a few of his men are going to find out the mystery surrounding Aida. The journey is interrupted. A must read! A TBC in next book, which I cannot wait for!
So this is a pretty dark book. But it is also so good! It does have a wicked cliffhanger. But it is so worth the read. I loved how this has mages and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book! I felt so bad for Aida. She was so naive and sheltered. And then she had to try to make her way in a totally new way from anything she ever knew before. Er’it I both liked and didn’t like. But I think that was kinda the point.
If you know Eva she writes dark and twisted characters, this isn’t for the faint of heart and it’s book 1 of 2 sooooo more to come! It’s well written and has strong characters! It’s AMAZING!
Do you remember me losing my shit over the Omega’s Destruction series last year? I named it one of my two favourite reads of 2019.
Well, she’s back, bitches!!
This is another Omegaverse novel and it is so freakin’ good.
I swear there is not one thing Ms Dresden has written that I do not lose myself in completely.
OTASO
Okay, this dude is one dark, greedy and cruel mother-fucker. A crazed mage. And I hated him (so well written).
He’s destroying yet another ruler’s kingdom and absorbing its power for himself. While he’s terrorising his enemies he discovers a newborn baby girl.
The king had been trying to sneak her out of his kingdom in order to keep her safe from Otaso but sadly he failed.
Now, as Otaso looked upon this wee babe he realises something.
She’s special.
And then he just takes her as his own!
AIDA
Poor wee lass! God, I felt so bad for her. She’s grown up in Otaso’s clutches.
She knows nothing of life!
Otaso has kept her as his ‘ward’ all her life. She doesn’t get out…like at all. She has no friends, no family, no freedom. She doesn’t even get to wash herself or pick her own clothes.
She has no idea who or what she is.
Something horrendous is coming though and it’s all been leading to this since he found her as a baby.
She’s a timid and gentle wee soul but not in an irritating way, ye ken? You just can’t help but love her.
ET’IR
So this guy is a mage too and although he’s a dark lad himself, there is something very hot about him.
Alpha to the core, bitches!
Now, I found him to be dominating and ruthless. Cruel and needing put in his place but still…I wanted him. Of course, lol.
He’s arrogant as fuck though and there were times I needed to throat punch him.
I’m so upset with him at the moment though. He acted like a proper prick at times.
“You fucked up, mister!” could be heard from my bedroom throughout this book.
It’s like, I know he can be a good guy, somewhere deep inside…maybe…och, man! I have too many feels!
This is one of the reasons I wanna kick him in the nuts…and then lick them all better 🙂
Omegas had no power, and he’d proven it. Taken her with ease, debasing the mythical creature with little more than a well-placed growl. She would serve her purpose and scream on his cock while doing so.
SEX SCENES
Okay, you ever been reading a sex scene and then kinda caught yersel’ moving your own hips along with the characters? Mhmm…like that.
The ornate headboard slammed into the dark bricks as he used his weight to crash into her over and again. Forcing her to open wide around the growing thickness at the base of the throbbing member pummeling her insides into raw delight. It would hurt when it grew. Making her scream as it forced a place far too small to contain it, but in those glorious moments, she wanted that, too. Already she felt her body fluttering around it, grasping at him. As if she could hold him inside of her and force the heady wash of warmth to fill her. “Greedy little thing aren’t you,” he husked against her temple. “You’re going to have to work for it, princess.”His grip shifted, hauling Aida to her knees. Shoulders kept flush to the mattress, it was in the first panicked moment that he withdrew that she fell back into him. Driving herself onto that formidable length so fast and hard as he crashed into her. Aida shoved at the bed, rearing up with a keen of something beyond mere pleasure and pain as he hammered against something so deep inside of her the delicious ache of it spiralled through her body in a fiery shower of sparks. The slap of his palm between her shoulders drove her back down, but it added to the maelstrom. Sending those glowing embers into steady flames that burst into a wildfire in her veins. After the initial shock left her, she did it again. Squealing with the intensity of the sensations as she braced her hands against the sturdy headboard that rapped out a staccato rhythm that fast increased. Matching the wild beating of her heart as they both became erratic. “Please,” Aida sobbed as he covered her back. “That’s right, princess. Beg for it. Ask me nicely to fill this tight cunt!” She would have pleaded. Begged until her voice grew hoarse and the stars fell from the sky, but she didn’t have to. Between one breath and the next her world exploded.
Final Thoughts on RITE OF THE OMEGA by Eva Dresden
Omg! This was an excellent book and I have a feeling the next one will be amazeballs because, there was a new character introduced at the ending that has ma wee ears pricked up and ma interest piqued!
5 Stars
I found myself teething a very fine line of emotional confusion regularly throughout Aida’s torturous life. Eva keeps your entrails twisted tightly in the dark yet allowing in just enough circulation to keep you gripping onto those small traces of light. I did kind of feel like there was something more, something missing; that kept expecting to happen. It left me feeling a bit frustrated at the end, but I suppose any good cliffhanger is supposed to have that effect! (Pun intended) I guess I’ll be hanging around for book 2 (SERIOUS TRIGGER ALERTS)
