She’s his brother’s nanny…and totally off-limits.
In an effort to escape her overprotective mother, Cassie moves to Tampa to decide her future and claim her independence. When she lands a job as a live-in nanny to adorable twin infants, she’s convinced she’s on the right track.
Until she meets her new roommate: Tom. He’s an off-the-charts gorgeous neurologist (are they even allowed to be that … allowed to be that sexy?) and also her aunt’s best friend. There are way too many points of contact for them to take the risk…but Cassie can’t help but fantasize what contact with him would feel like.
Tom knows the stakes, but Cassie’s vibrant spirit strikes a chord in his heart and he can’t stay away. But just when they start to think they’re moving in sync, the unthinkable happens. Did taking the risk create a chasm too wide to bridge?
**Risky Move is a standalone book in the Tampa Suns Hockey series. This sweet and spicy full-length novel can be read on its own—no cliffhanger, no cheating and a guaranteed Happily Ever After.

I read on my commute to and from work. This is the kind of story that makes the time fly by. Love .. love this story
Four and a half stars. This is a very good story. This is my first time reading a book from this author and I’m glad I chose it. Cassie is a very relatable young woman and not really as immature as her mother thinks she is. And Tom, where can I find this guy? He is incredibly sweet and understanding. I don’t very often cry when reading but there was a part that my heart was breaking right along with Cassie’s. This is an uplifting tale with many positive characters dealing with some realities of life.
I was also concerned about the length of the book, but it moved along very nicely and in an understandable way.
If you like a good romance with some intimation of sexual activity, this is a good book to choose.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Authorsxp and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.
I received this book free and I am voluntarily doing a review. I absolutely loved this book. Great word building and wonderful characters that I feel in love with.
I enjoyed this story!
Cassie and Tom were wonderful characters and the storyline was great! They took their time with their relationship which made it stronger. There was drama and emotions in this story that made it great! I look forward to reading more from Robyn!
The Story checks off a lot of boxes for me.
Funny and Sweet Meet Cute.
Sexy self-assured Hero
A voice of reason/pushing the couple together- Cassie’s Aunt Lauren (Her story is Book one of the of Tampa Sun’s series.
Sweet romantic interactions and so many almost moments leading up to the couple coming together.
The Climate of the Plot where you know that the Hero has the Heroine’s back and truly loves her.
HEA
This is labeled as a book 2 I read it as a standalone and had no issues picking up on characters and relationship dynamics. While labeled as a Hockey Romance there isn’t a ton of that, but you get enough of it to feel the chill of the ice. This was a 4/5 read for me. I had a couple of issues with the pace of the book but once Tom and Cassie get together it gains momentum.
3.5 Stars
I have not read the other books in this series but didn’t feel like I was missing anything substantial. I might find my way back to the beginning to pick up how some of the other relationship have come about. I love the family dynamic that is part of this team. Strong friendships between wives and players.
Cassie takes a leap and jumps into her gap year as a nanny to twins in Tampa where her Aunt lives. She will be living with her new love bugs but her Aunt is just around the corner for support. This is her opportunity to get a breather from her overprotective mother and her father while trying to decide what she wants for a career path moving forward. Tired of being in the middle of them since they divorced all those years ago, she is looking forward to the calm. Thankful for Caryn and Andrew making her feel so at home in their home. Surprised by the thoughts and feelings towards Tom, the children’s uncle who lives in the attached apartment.
Tom is making strides in his new career as he finishes off his residency as a neurologist at the local hospital. The extra time spent helping his brother recover from a TBI has certainly put him a step above his peers. Recognized for his hard work, he is offered a position to work along with the Tampa Suns Hockey team as well. Clearly Tom has his life path sorted out, but one thing is missing. He is looking for his soulmate, just like his brother and friends have found. Could it be the beautiful sprite that his moved in to help look after his niece and nephew?
As they struggle with the internal decisions of should they venture into these feelings they are having or not. Tom and Cassie become fast friends and their relationship starts there. Everyone else can see what they haven’t agreed to move forward on just yet. Will their age difference cause an issue? Could Tom help her in growing her self esteem and becoming the woman she was meant to be? Could they have found their happily ever after in the same house?
There is lots of emotions throughout this story. Digging deep within to see what you really want out of life. Self forgiveness and finding love for yourself and others. There were a few times where I felt the story was a little long and slow but I did enjoy it in the end.

This time we get a whole book to Tom (Andrew’s brother) relationship and it’s developement from the start.
To see how the relationship developes between them from friends to fully commited is interesting.
Overall it was a really indepth look into their life.
Cassie’s taking a gap year trying to figure out what she is going to do with her future. Taking a nanny job brings her into the orbit of her boss’ brother and damn…he’s a gorgeous doctor! So a slow burn friendship turned more develops and Cassie is starting to bloom with Tom’s gentle support.
This is a sweet story of self-acceptance and love. This really was Cassie’s journey more than anything and it’s enjoyable. The main reason I took off half a star is only because the story meandered quite a bit and I started to wonder where Tom and Cassie were heading. And one little thing – there’s not much hockey in this story. Considering that it’s part of the Tampa Suns Hockey series, I thought there would be a lot of hockey in it. Unfortunately there’s not, but it’s not a deal breaker or anything. Aside from those two things, though, I liked Risky Move and would love to read further into the Tampa Suns Hockey series.
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This was the first time I read this author but wow I was impressed. I loved the story and I loved the characters and I loved the length of this story and how the characters really grow in this story.
This is the story about 20 year old Cassie who moves to Florida to nanny for a friend of her cousin. She meets the friends husbands younger brother, Tom, a 26 year old Neurosurgeon. This is the story how the two fall in love and face lifes trials together. It is NOT a story of instalust or love but more about a man who feels things for this younger woman and her him, but who take things slowly as they get to know each other and fall in love.
Along the way Cassie grows up and decides who and what is important in her life and sees who is worthy to be her friends and who is not. She learns what love, life, forgiveness and what friendship really means.
This is a VERY long book. 70+ chapters but it was also really fun and I really enjoyed every moment of this story.
A slow burn romance with some sizzling chemistry and wonderful characters. I loved Cassie and Tom and felt their instant attraction as soon as they laid eyes on one another. However, the story felt a bit too long at times and I found myself wishing it would move faster. Nonetheless, it was enjoyable. A new to me author that I will certainly read again.
This is the first book I have read by this author and definitely not my last. Risky Move is part of the Tampa Suns Hockey series and even though I haven’t read the previous books I don’t feel like I was missing anything. Cassie and Tom are likable characters and have a great connection. I liked the slow burn of their relationship. I loved how supportive Tom is with Cassie. Overall, a really great story and one I recommend.
Being a fan and long time reader of Robyn Ryan, I was elated to find out that we’d be getting Tom’s story as he was a pivotal character from the Clearing The Ice series. While you don’t need to read the series to read this, I highly recommend you do – mostly because I LOVED it. Risky Move is a part of the spin-off Tampa Suns Hockey series and Ryan continues to bridge the two series with this story. In this case, the series is further connected with Laurens’ niece Cassie at the front and center in this story. There’s a slight forbidden element to this story, but mostly in the mind of our heroine.
When Cassie moves to Tampa Bay she’s come from a slightly sheltered life, one driven by parental expectations ( her mother) and her own immediate lack of direction. She’s barely twenty and doesn’t have a good idea what she wants to do, but she’s great with kids and the Chadwicks’ twins give her an immediate influx of confidence. She and Tom share an immediate connection and she’s not sure she can do anything about it.
Cassie has a very active inner dialogue which I enjoyed immensely. She a really well-developed character, if a bit naive at times, but Ryan is a master with story and character development. She quickly feels like a family member but as her circle widens, she learns some lessons about trust and accountability. Unlike the build-up of her relationship with “her munchkins”, she and Tom’s relationship is a sweet slow burn. As for Tom, he is everything I expected him to be, and more. I loved the trajectory of their connection and how he forges it.
I really enjoyed what this story gave us and it remains apparent that Ryan loves the sport. The teams’ dynamics are almost as important as the individuals the story is focused on. Risky Move is yet another stellar romance from Robyn Ryan.
Cassie is taking a gap year when she starts a job as a live-in nanny to cute twins. Tom is her employers’ brother and her aunts’ best friend, and these two are attracted to each other. Will these two take a chance on a relationship, or will they decide things may become too complicated? This is a well written story which is filled with emotion, family dynamics, insecurities, self-doubt, and love. I was hooked and intrigued throughout, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author.
4.5 Stars for Risky Move
This is the first book I have read by Robyn M Ryan and it certainly won’t be my last, I loved this book and even though this is book 2 in the series I had no issues following the story. What I will say is this is an extremely long book so please be prepared for that in this slow burn romance.
Tom and Cassie’s life’s are intertwined and that means there should be a line that shouldn’t be crossed but we have no control over our feelings and sometimes how ever hard we try our heart will always win over our minds. If Tom and Cassie start something and it goes wrong it will effect so many others, so is their love worth a shot or will they think of others before themselves……..
This is a story that will touch you on so many levels, it’s full of love, romance, friendships, family and loyalty, it’s about taking a leap of faith and trusting your heart and learning to believe in yourself.
Looking forward to reading book 1 in this series as well as future Tampa Suns Hockey Novels.
I enjoyed this romance. Cassie and Tom were quite likable and I loved the connection they had. This is a read that is all about the emotion and as such, it delivers plenty of feels. My one complaint was that things bogged down and when that happened you had to find the strength to push through. Of my own accord I am posting a candid review.
I simply love Robyn Ryan’s books! She’s one of the few authors that can actually make my heart feel like it’s being squeezed when I’m reading a really emotional part. That equates to great writing! Granted, I love hockey romance books, but this one has very little actual hockey in it and it was still absolutely fabulous. I was so happy that Tom got his own story. He isn’t even a hockey player. He’s a neurologist! Bonus…hockey and doctors!
This actually story in this book was great. I had hoped for more on Lauren and Dave, which we did get some of in this book, as Cassie is Lauren’s niece. Cassie made an appearance in The last book “Healthy Scratch”. It’s wonderful how Robyn integrates so many characters from the past books in the series. It makes the individual stories flow so seamlessly.
This storyline was kind of unique in that we get the young standpoint again from Cassie, who’s taking a gap year before college. We haven’t seen this “young” perspective since the first book when Caryn was around that age. And we also get the more settled standpoint from Tom, who already has his career well established. 5-6 years isn’t really much of an age gap, but at that point it can actually feel bigger than it is. Cassie deals with that and all the feelings of insecurity, mistrust and inadequacy that have been thrust upon her by her mother rattling around in her head. She’s looking for an escape and trying to figure out her future and falling in love all at the same time. And all the while dealing with generally feeling inadequate and then she has to deal with tremendous guilt over an accident, not wanting to cause a rift between friends or family. That’s a lot for a 20 year old to contemplate. She’s just overwhelmed at times, but actually handles it pretty darn well. Cassie’s character is so easy to love. Read the book to see how this sweet girl deals with life’s challenges. You won’t regret it! It’s a great read!
Really sweet story. This is a great romance, but it’s also about a young girl discovering herself and working through low self esteem. Cassie is young and not really sure what she wants to do. She takes a gap year to spend time with her aunt and be a nanny. She meets Tom who is a young doctor and the uncle to the kids she watches. The connection between Tom and Cassie is instant. Cassie is young, but very mature so she worries about appearances and other things as far as her job is concerned. The story is sweet with low drama, low angst and more about Cassie and Tom developing a relationship and Cassie learning about herself, what she wants to do in life, and how to be Cassie in a relationship. She is also trying learn on her own without her mother’s toxic views. There are a few moments that had me holding my breath and I wanted to slap Amelia and have her face the consequences of her actions. I felt like she got off too easy. Really great read. Loved how close everyone is regardless if they were related or not. I was given the opportunity to read a copy of this book.
Ryan continues to own my heart. Tom and Cassie dig deep into the soul with a sweetness that is fractured yet pure. Risky Move is a journey to find out where life wants you to be. Age is not about weakness. Whether young or old, strength comes from knowledge, life experience and faith in who we find we are meant to be. Risky Move is an ever evolving life lesson that doesn’t hold back, because it has a lot to say.
4 star review Risky Move (Tampa Sun Hockey) by Robyn M Ryan
Robyn M Ryan is a new author to me. Although book two in the series, I had no problems following this story. This is a slow burn story that is Cassie Johnson and Dr. Tom Chadwick’s story.
There were times that I felt the story dragged a little but once the pace picked up it flowed better. I was a little frustrated by Cassie’s lack of confidence and self doubt at times but overall I liked the characters.
There is a lot to consider before Tom and Cassie can begin a relationship, after all their lives are intertwined and if their relationship doesn’t work out then things will be complicated on numerous levels.
For me the build up was a tad to long, but that is just my opinion. I found it difficult to connect with some of the other characters but again, that is probably me. I really liked Tom, I loved how supportive he was of Cassie
Although the series is Tampa Sun Hockey, there was not a lot of hockey in this book. This was a story of love, romance and overcoming ones fears and taking a leap of faith and above all learning to believe in yourself.
I haven’t read any of the previous books in the Tampa Suns hockey series, but felt I could follow this title easily. But in saying that, although this title was well written, I struggled to stay interested, it’s an incredibly long book and with over seventy chapters I felt the plot line dragged. As much as I liked the characters, this just wasn’t the book for me.
