The stakes have never been higher, and she’s full of the devil.
Edward Fasbender is my husband.
Together, we brought down powerful men.
Now we have a chance to start over. To be the family neither of us ever had, to leave the past in the past where it belongs. Edward has a choice to make.
It will decide if we fall into the flames–or rise together.
Rising is the fourth and final book in the … together.
Rising is the fourth and final book in the Slay Quartet.
more
FINALLY! This was the most excruciating wait, yet it was worth it in the end! If I hadn’t fall in love with Edward from the previous books, well now I do! Or maybe even more.
This, I would say, more sweet than the first three books in the quartet. Edward is starting to show vulnerabilities and forthcoming about his feelings. The revenge Edward has against Celia’s past dissipates even more and he realised what’s more important and what he needed more. That is Celia. And seeing him realising that and owning to his feelings even more is much more romantic than any other romance. For a guy like him, that’s definitely a hard thing. Him with their baby had me swooning even more! It was a beautiful ending indeed!
“The thing is, she finally got through to me, and when she did, it wasn’t her conviction in your character that made me change my mind. It was just her. It was realizing that she’s everything, and anything that isn’t her isn’t worth my time.”
I’d been wrong. My love for Celia wasn’t a vulnerability. It was my strength. It was my bastion. It was my greatest weapon. – Edward
Coming Full Circle
Celia has finally gotten the family she has always wanted. Unfortunately, Edward wants more. The final secret she’s been keeping is tearing them apart. Celia will have to come clean and trust in her husband to do what’s right.
This is the finale to Edward and Celia’s love story. Every loose end will be tied up. Past hurts will be mended. Retribution will be made. Forever is their future.
Celia will finally have to trust Edward completely and stop protecting the person who taught her how to scheme and manipulate. The truth is hard, but owning it all will be what they need to move forward. In turn, Edward will return the sentiment when he tells her of his darkest moment.
Their relationship is a roller coaster of emotions, but their love is steadfast. Both had so many ghosts chasing them, it was truly a journey to get their HEA. They were passionate about their love and it was what carried them through the tough times. Edward was dedicated to Celia and she to him. What started as a dark and twisted marriage of convenience, became a beautiful love story.
Seriously I’ve never thought that I could love the story that much about heroine I’ve literally hated in author’s previous Fixed series.
But thanks to the Laurelin Paige I have new reading experience where she prove me wrong and I totally fell in love with Celia and Edward story. Author outdid herself and created a new level of enemies to lover’s story.
Rising is fourth and final book in Slay series and it’s an excellent conclusion to Celia and Edward story. Finally all puzzles click into their places. They had a long journey through hard and complicated relationship. They were like two opposite poles strongly attracted to each other.
This part of their story caused some memories to return to the beautiful Fixed series and I was deeply touched. BTW, You don’t have to read the whole Fixed story to get this one but I recommend to read it to truly understand Celia story.
Slay Quartet is pure sensation, it’s next best of the best from Laurelin Page.
It’s a fantastic new plot which will blow your mind and knock you off your feet.
Laurelin Paige was messing with my mind through the entire series and I wasn’t certain a damn thing in this novel, but I totally love every single moment spent with Edward and Celia story.
4.5-stars.
When I first heard Laurelin Paige was going to give us Celia’s story, I was not sure if I could be invested enough to read it. Let me tell you, I should have never doubted this author. I am not going to say forgiving Celia was easy but seeing her evolve and come into herself was quite the journey with so many great surprises along the way.
We have seen Edward and Celia come so far as individual and together and yet this final book had me at the edge of my seat as well. It was hard for Celia to trust and Edward is a man who wants control. Can they find a way to meet in the middle? Rising by Laurelin Paige was emotional, angst-filled and captivating.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
“There he was, the devil I married. In full-blown splendor. Taunting me with what he wouldn’t let me have.”
Oh, how I love these two. The push and pull. The love and the distrust all rolled up in one. As much as they push each other’s buttons and get angry with one another, their love is just too strong and when they come back together? Holy Hannah is it HOT!!
I loved reading their journey – with each other, with those around them, with themselves. It was a joy to watch them go from the hardened, game-playing, manipulators they were, into the people they’ve longed to be. They just complement each other so well – it’s perfect.
Edward is the ultimate alpha. He wants to fix everything for Celia. But, can he let go of his need to right what he sees as wrong for the sake of love? We all know Celia’s past is dark, but can she pull Edward into the light with her?
I’m sad to see this series go but it was one heckuva ride!! Loved it!!
RISING: SLAY by Laurelin Paige is book 4 in the Slay Quartet Series. This continues the story of Celia Werner and Edward Fasbender, so you should read the previous books “Slay: Rivalry”, “Ruin” and ‘Revenge’ first before starting this one. In this book we start to live some of their happy ending but that ending isn’t without some issues. Edward and Celia both have grown but each staying true to who they are. Which really Celia loved the dark Edward just as much as the men he became towards her. Loved this series and this author’s writing. I hope to read more from her soon!
Oh Wow !!! Just WOW!
Right from the beginning of this series till now i have been totally enthralled in Celia and Edwards journey.
Never before has there been a female character i have taken such a dislike to, she really had no redeeming qualities to her. A woman who enjoyed inflicting all kinds of havoc to other peoples lives to bring them down.
Book 1 we met Edward and i loved him, this cold, vindictive, obsessive man, thrilled me, he would be the man to break Celia and I couldn’t wait !!!
Now i’m left speechless and stunned, because when an author can take you to a whole other level, take all your emotions and flip them from one mindset to another, take your heart and mind and turn it a full 360 and have you enthralled from beginning to end, you know you have experienced a read that goes beyond the normal talent!!
Even though i wanted to continue Hating on Celia, i found it impossible, My heart broke for her past, and it twisted for her future, Edward although unpredictable, always felt dangerous, blew me away with his devotion and protectiveness, and i couldn’t get enough of either. When the past lives and the future looms for both of them and could bring things crashing down, i found myself overly emotional, gahhh the tears, the panic, the angst, i could barely contain myself !!! I loved the author, and then i didn’t, how could she lure me into actually loving this couple !!!!
Edward and Celia are most definitely a match made in heaven, one could be as vindictive and cruel as the other, but what got me the most was the insight into Both characters, what and who made them the people they have become. Laurelin Page took a tangled and twisted couple, and turned them into people we could love in a way no one else could !!! Absolutely knocked this right out of the ball park!!!!
The Slay Rising did just as it promised and slayed me for sure. I was so not ready to see this quartet end. To say I loved it would be a massive understatement. I have always LOVED The Fixed Trilogy but I think the Slay Quartet will forever go down as my favorite series by Laurelin Paige! Rising delivered on everything I was looking for from the drama to heart pounding angst. It spun lies, secrets and betrayal into a perfectly spun web you wanted to get caught in. I wasnt sure how the author was going to pull off a HEA for this characters but she truly nailed it. Both Edward and Celia transformed and grew both personally and in their relationship. Their chemistry was truly some of the best I have ever read. And boy did they know how to ignite your kindle pages with steam! I can alreafy feel the book hangover coming on. I truly was not ready for this story to end. I could have devoured so much more of Celia and Edwards relationship. I am definitely looking forward to Edwards sisters spin off coming in August!
Celia redeemed herself and more for me throughout this quartet. I think she is officially one of my most favorite heroines. I never thought I would love her character like I do now. Celia blew me away with each new book I read. Her story, her journey, her fight was all inspiring to say the least. I admire her character on a new level that will forever change how I see villains in future stories. Everyone has a story and reason to be the way they are and Celia proved that with Slay.
Edward had truly stolen my heart from the first book I read. However after Rising I think I loved him that much more! Like Celia he too transformed for the better throughout this quartet. But for real y’all I am calling dibs now on Edward Faserbender. Everything about him was dark, intense, and so consuming. I could have gotten lost in his push and pull forever. And I’m pretty sure my ovaries exploded watching him become a father again. I could not have imagined a more perfect hero for taking the dragon that was Celia then him.
*4&1/2 STARS*
Well earned for this all consuming ending to one of the best series I have read in 2020! I give major kudos to the author for perfectly executing a series most people wasn’t even wanting her to write. She took everyone’s villian and made sure you loved her by the time shes done!
The conclusion of the Slay Quartet, the epic conclusion to Edward and Celia’s story and this book was perfection. I’ve been reading this series since book one and I had no idea how things were going to play out for these two, but it was perfect for them.
If Edward and Celia were characters in another book they would be the villains, well Celia was. They are both characters that you just want to hate, however, in their own story you can’t help but love them. Edward took some warming up to, but by the end of this series he was a changed man. Celia, I just wanted to hate her, but I don’t. I love her. Three words I never thought I would say. She has experienced so much pain, loss, suffering that I just wanted the woman to have her own happily ever after.
Rising wasn’t smooth sailing all the way through, there were many ups and downs and struggles both Edward and Celia experienced. Their chemistry was on FIRE and hotter than ever. All secrets were revealed and forced them to face the truth.
Rising is a MUST READ along with the previous three books in this series. If you’re looking for an new addicting series to binge read then the Slay Quartet is a MUST!
Rising is the conclusion to the Slay Quartet. This was such a great series. You could really see the growth of Edward and Celia. They definitely went on a journey in their relationship. Their chemistry, connection and love was great! I just loved them together!
I was waiting for the conclusion of Celia and Edward story long time.
When this book arrived on my Kindle I started it without delay.
Fourth time we can meet Celia and Edward. They had really hard way to have life like now.
Celia is pregnat, but when her father told her about his plans, she must do something with this, because she isn’t happy with her father’s decision.
Of course everything isn’t go very well and one day Edward will say to her that she betrayed him.
I really like how Celia grew up as a character. I hate her in „Fixed” series, but now I like her. It isn’t a love to heroine, but I really like her and I was cheering her in all „Slay” series. She has what she always wants. Family, money and power.
Edward is a really hard hero to write about. He has my love, but also hate. Once his behaviors were too cold to Celia, but in one second he was really calm and good for his wife.
I can’t figure out this hero.
„Slay: Rising” was a nice reading. I am a huge fan od Laurelin Paige and I adore her stories. This series is one of the best written by her, but I think that I must find time to read them all in one time. Becasue this waiting between next books in this series was so tiring. And I think that I wasn’t too deep in this story to have a true pleasure.
This is the final instalment of Edward Fasbender and Celia Werners story and please make sure you pick up books 1,2 and 3 before embarking in the final journey for this pair. This was the book I have waited for from the start of this quartet and in my mind Laurelin Paige certainly left the best for last, what she gave us in Rising is a gripping story that draws you in and doesn’t let yo go until you have read the final line. Like all of this series this book is full of intrigue and emotion, it’s intense and it will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat as you get to find out if this couple can ever get a HEA.
This story touched my heart as I got to see Edward and Celia open up and look deep inside themselves to fulfil the love they truly felt for each other. This book ticked all my boxes, I loved being on the emotional roller coaster and I loved catching up with a few familiar faces from Celia’s past but what I really enjoyed the most was seeing this couple realise there is more to life than they had every thought. A perfect conclusion to a great series and if you love romance mixed with mystery and intrigue this book and series should be a must read.
It takes real talent in writing to take one of the most hated characters in Ms. Paige’s arsenal and make them redeemable, memorable, and admirable.
That’s exactly what Ms. Paige has done with this series and with this final story in the Slay series.
This final story of Celia and Edward brings closure and peace between them and against their adversaries. Justice is served to those who deserve it.
The evolution of Celia and Edward’s relationship has always been a winding road with bumps along the way. But to see both of them overcome their pasts and move forward into the future was riveting and I couldn’t put down this story until the very end.
This series was amazing and I was so happy with the ending. It was perfect!
The conclusion to the ‘SLAY’ series is finally here.
Rising takes us from where Revenge finished and gives us a deeper look into Celia and Edward’s life while they were in New York. We now have the view from both sides of the coin as it were, having previously gotten Hudson and Alayna’s in Fixed Forever.
In a lot of ways, this IS Celia’s book. She’s changed slowly over the previous three books, from the selfish and emotionally stunted woman in book 1: Ruin, to where she is now. Most of that was down to Edward, though his methods were somewhat strange at times, especially in the beginning.
Now, she knows her worth, that they are most definitely equals, and challenge each other in multiple ways. Their chemistry is as intense as ever.
Edward and Celia struggle to connect through the first half of the story, due to Celia’s little ‘oops’ incident, and the fact that they are still holding on to secrets. They push and pull until something has to give, and it’s those secrets that spill free.
Those were some of the most emotional scenes of the entire series but in a good way. Finally, all they wanted is within their grasp.
I adored the epilogue and despite what I thought before starting this epic journey with Laurelin Paige and her characters, I fell in love with the devilish Edward, but most especially, with the woman everyone thought could not be redeemed; Celia Werner-Fasbender. Some thought it was an impossible task and maybe it would have been for a different author, but not this one.
I never thought I’d say it, but I’m #teamCelia.
If you’re still on the fence, take my word for it. This series is one of the best. Read it, love it, remember it always. I know I will.
Rising beautifully from the ashes! 4 stars
After what Celia did at the end of book 3, how will Edward react? We find out at the beginning of this book. But Celia and Edward still have secrets, even more so for Celia, that will impact their marriage. When the first secret was revealed it was in a spectacular fashion! Closure for Celia, in all aspects of her past, was exceptional and emotional. Edward’s journey and transformation from the first book to this last one was a magnificent thing to behold. They both saw each for who they really were and accepted each other, knowingly chose each other, fought battles separately and together, and beautifully rose together from the ashes of battle. I definitely recommend this book and series.
*I received an advanced copy of this ebook for my honest review.*
The conclusion to the quartet that has captured my attention from the first word on the first page of the first book.
It’s been quite a journey for Edward and Celia. Their road has been anything but smooth, bumpy would be generous, but through it all they were real. I liked watching the growth, both individually and as a couple throughout the quartet. Their confrontations were just as fun to watch as their banter was for me. Both Celia and Edward have strong character and a depth that we’ve finally seen the full scope of. The secrets that have been kept are finally revealed and they both have to come to terms with what they learn, the fallout could make or break them. Add in a little bit of manipulation and a whole lot of emotion and you have hours of enjoyment.
This series was a complete challenge, having someone who most readers hated in the Fixed Series transform and redeem was not easy, but definitely Laurelin Paige pull it off and came out on the other side as a winner. Celia and Edward’s story was so deep and definitely interesting. It was a fantastic ride, full of drama, angst and believing there would be a perfect ending from the beginning seemed far fetched. Celia was a character that I love from the way she faced her transformation, but Edward also faced a transformation I didn’t see coming so completely, they both grow within their relationship as well as individually, having Hudson you can finally get a close with him and make this spin-off perfectly outlined. A definitely must read for Fixed fans and for those who haven’t read it, you can read it, and then I am sure you will want to read the Fixed series next.
Laurelin you did a terrific job when nobody believed you should even write this story. I give you a standing ovation for not only doing it but for it being so perfect, bravo!
Loved, loved this second chance romance story. The is the first book of the Baker’s Creek, Oregon, Billionaire Brothers series about half-brothers—Hayes and Blair’s story. This is a story about love. This is a story about forgiveness, trust and healing. This story is about a slow-burn romance. It was outstanding; it was such a great read! It is fun, witty banter, lots of steamy romance and moments of heartbreak, but you won’t be able to put it down. Sit back and be ready for a crazy ride. I found myself swooning over the handsome, sexy, alpha Aldrich brothers—Henry, Hayes, Pierce, Mills, Vance, Beacon, and Carter who are billionaires that were put into a dreadful situation by their deceased father, William Aldrich. Hayes and his brother Carter (deceased) were from his father’s marriage. Although all the brothers saw each other once/twice per year, it wasn’t something they were crazy about. Their father was a cold-hearted a-hole who fathered five sons outside his marriage and did not give them any love. Dr. Hayes Aldrich and Blaire Wilson were sweethearts in college. After being separated for 12 years, they are brought back together by unfortunate circumstances beyond their control—death of William Aldrich. It is fortuitous that everyone has to live in the Aldrich house in Baker’s Creek, including Hayes and Blaire. Hayes still have feelings for Blaire after 12 years—he realizes that leaving her was a mistake, and he is longing to let himself love Blaire once more, but not wanting to get hurt again. Now, Hayes will win her over and he won’t take no for an answer. Blaire is a strong independent woman, who has survived cancer, the jungle, and the plague. Hayes was her first love, first kiss, and her late husband’s brother. Can Blaire survive being around Hayes again? Their chemistry leaps off the page. They are combustible. Everything about Blaire and Hayes was wrong, but none of that mattered until they are reminded about the devastating death of Carter, who Blaire married, turns her idyllic life upside down. Find out what happens with Hayes and Blaire. Claudia Burgoa’s books will be salacious with an engrossing love story, interesting plots and dialogues with strong conflicts, artfully developed main characters, and they will keep you reading to the end to find out what happened—they will pique your interest and drawn you in. Claudia has a lyrical way of writing, capturing the beauty and intensity of each moment. I HIGHLY recommend this book.
4.5 stars— RISING is the fourth and final instalment in Laurelin Paige’s contemporary, adult SLAY erotic, dark, romance quartet focusing on businessman/billionaire media mogul Edward Fasbender, and Celia Warner. The SLAY Quartet is a spin-off from the author’s FIXED series, and falls in the timeline before Fixed Forever and a few years after Forever with You. Some of the events cross-over and run parallel between series. RISING should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book three SLAY: REVENGE.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.
SOME BACKGROUND: Years earlier, Warren Werner and his brother Ron took over and dismantled Edward Fasbender’s father’s business, and in the ensuing time ruined the lives of Edward and his sister Camilla. Fast forward to present day wherein the time has come for Edward to take down the Warner family, starting with Celia, then targeting Warren and Ron.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Edward and Celia) RISING is the culmination of four instalments that focuses on the love/hate relationship between our leading couple, and Edward’s need to take down the Warner family but Edward’s growing love for Celia falters when secrets, lies and perceived betrayal begin to affect the rest of their lives. The past resurfaces, revealing the depths to which Celia and Hudson destroyed so many vulnerable lives, and the fall-out as Edward is unable to come to terms when the truth is revealed.
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Edward’s adult children Hagan and Genevieve; his sister Camilla, and her son Freddie ; Celia’s parents Madge and Warren;Hudson and Alayna Pierce, and Hudson’s brother Chandler.
The relationship between Edward and Celia continues to be sexually aggressive, seductive and intense. There also continues to be major issues of trust, secrets, and lies of omission that affect the couple’s relationship going forward. Edward is a dominant lover who uses $ex to punish the woman with whom he has fallen in love. I struggled with the use of a certain four-letter word.
RISING sees Edward Fasbender’s vengeance come to fruition yet reveals the growing love Edward feels for our story line heroine. Celia and Hudson’s games have caught up with the couple, and Alayna Pierce (Hudson’s wife) is caught in the middle forcing Hudson and Celia to reveal all of their sins. The premise is intense; the romance is raw; the characters are broken but healing. RISING is a provocative and engaging story of vengeance and the true meaning of love.
Rising is the final book in the Slay quartet giving us readers a phenomenal ending. Cecile Werner is a rich girl but hadn’t always had the easy life everyone thought she had born with the silver spoon in her mouth but her uncle made sure there was something else to make her more noticeable. Then she met Hudson Pierce, a handsome boy that was very inquisitive especially with social interactions and relationships. Bored Hudson made up an evil game using people’s emotions as a game, that was until he hurt so many people that he didn’t want to take part or play them anymore. However, an egregious mistake was teaching Cecile how to play the game, the student then became the master and all hell broke loose. Cecile met and married Edward Fastbend who was on his own mission, trying to exact revenge on all those people who cause him and his sister harm. Edward went on to exact revenge on others who had done harm to the people he cared about, sometimes it was all about revenge and the methods to get what he wanted most, power, prestige, and fortune. When is enough, enough? After reading the Complete Fix Five book series and completing this series I must say that Laurelin Paige is a genius, devious & cunning but a genius none the less! Well done.
