The stakes have never been higher, and she’s full of the devil.
Edward Fasbender is my husband.
Together, we brought down powerful men.
Now we have a chance to start over. To be the family neither of us ever had, to leave the past in the past where it belongs. Edward has a choice to make.
It will decide if we fall into the flames–or rise together.
Rising is the fourth and final book in the … together.
Rising is the fourth and final book in the Slay Quartet.

Laurelin Paige writes intense, emotional, complex romance and the entire Slay series is a shining example of her wordsmithery!!!
This was the perfect ending to an amazing series. I love the connection between Celia and Edward. They were perfect for each other. Edward slayed the dragon in Celia and made her realize that what happened to her both as a child and through playing the game did not define her and she could be a caring, loving person. Celia challenged Edward from the beginning but also submitted to him, a combination he desperately needed.
I love what a wonderful mother Celia becomes. Edward, who was an absentee father with his older children, is hands on and loving with Cleo. Nothing sexier that a gorgeous, successful alpha male playing with his child…in only pajama pants!
Corporate dealings has Hudson Pierce in the picture with Pierce Industries and his controlling interest in Warner Media.
The story takes an interesting turn when Hudson and Alayna comes looking for help from Celia when his family is threatened. For those who read Fixed Forever, we now get the side of the story from Edward and Celia’s point of view. I absolutely loved it.
Edward and Celia have a wonderful happy ever after and the Epilogue gave me the feel goods. I can’t say enough about this book and the entire series. Every time I think Laurelin Paige outdid herself, she knocks out another homerun! I wish I could give this book 100 stars.
The final book! Yes!
It’s been a long while since book #3 and again I forgot everything! LOL!
Damn #Bookalzheimers! But then I remembered that it ended with Celia telling Edward she’s pregnant! BAM! And suddenly I remembered everything again!
And so we start. Edward is a ‘bit’ angry at the whole thing. Plus he’s still mad she won’t tell him who A is in her journals.
And Celia is mad at Edward for ignoring her. But she’s so happy about the baby. Adorable! Seeing our old mean girl like that.
How will this book end?
Will Edward find out who A is?
We hope not. We want them all to survive!
We want all of them to get their happily ever after!
Edward’s sister will get hers too in the next book! (SLASH – a novella, coming in August!)
This was a great finale for a great series.
I wouldn’t have minded much if this would’ve been only one longish book instead of four. But it was okay the way it was. I liked it. I didn’t think I could ever like Celia, but I do.
There was a tiny bit too much business talk for my tastes. And talk in general. There were too many words and sentences that could’ve been cut. It was too wordy – that’s why I would’ve preferred one book instead of four!! BUT! Great romance with lots of sexy times and lots of feels and frustration and excitement!
SLAY FOUR: RISING was a great finale in this crazy & sexy quartet! I’m really happy with the way it all ended! Hurry to your nearest amazon asap – Edward will be sold out in no time!
A tiny little story-unrelated complaint. By now I know I shouldn’t read Laurelin’s acknowledgments, but I did and again I wanted to take away 2 stars from my rating just because. I just HATE religion and mentioning how great god is and how he is the one to thank for everything in her life – it makes me want to never ever pick up one of her books again. She’s not the only overly religious american romance author out there. But I think, if you guys can’t keep the religion out of your books, you should write christian romances and stop bothering us with these unnecessary words in our contemporary or erotic romances! And don’t tell me I should just stop reading you – that’s what genres are for. We pick to read what we love and while we can’t love every book in our beloved genres, we should at least be safe from too much religion in non-christian romances! Rant over. Even though insde I’m still mega ranting. No offense Laurelin – you do you.
To say I’ve loved and devoured the entire Slay quartet would be an understatement. Edward had me from the first book. I was hopelessly devoted.
Now you should know…I have not read the Fixed series. (Gasp) Of course I know of Hudson. I would imagine he’s like Jesse or maybe Tony.
Their names alone will remain in romance history because they captured hearts in unconventional ways at such a crucial time in our indie romance world.
That said, I didn’t go into this with any preconceived ideas about Celia. I didn’t know the history, though it wasn’t difficult to extrapolate.
From Slay One through the final words of Slay Four, I have read, wide-eyed, heart fluttering, and body twisting. I love Laurelin’s writing and the ease at which her words flow.
If you haven’t read the Slay series, my advice is simple. Do it! It’s time to binge. You need Edward and Celia’s story.
Who knows, maybe I’ll decide to finally read the Fixed series? In the meantime, I’m very happy with Slay!
This book was incredible!! This series was incredible!!! I cannot say enough about Laurelin Paige’s writing. I mean, how do you take a character that a reader absolutely loathes, and make the reader care?!?! Make the reader empathize, sympathize with her?!?! An exceptional writer is how!!! Rising was so raw, and emotional. It gave me all the closure I needed for Celia and Edward, in the most perfect way!! Rising has drama, passion, revenge, and redemption, all things I love in a book, and even more in an ending. Exceptional Book!!!
This series is why I absolutely adore Laurelin Paige and everything she writes! Celia was the villain throughout the Hudson chronicles. I hated her and cringed every single time she graced a scene as good storytelling should make you do. By the ending of the first book in this Slay (four part) series – I was cautiously a Celia fan and cursed the evil Edward. Now with the conclusion of the series in Rising — Celia is a redeemed goddess! We are also now Team Edward as well.
Rising is primarily centered around Celia’s pregnancy and Edward’s need to find out her final secret (Hudson is “A” for those in the know). Things get a little heated as Edward is so intent on avenging Celia’s past that he is jeopardizing his future with his new family. This story is happening in New York and Hudson is frequently a part of the drama. What could go wrong once Edward finds out who “A” is? When the darling Cleo is born, we start to see a softer Edward and a fiercely protective Celia.
Paige offers Celia’s “other side of the story” from the Hudson/Fixed on You series. Her books Fixed Forever and Chandler (with Edward’s daughter Genevieve) storylines coincide with this conclusion. In fact, I am going to re-read both of those to get a new perspective with this insight as well. Do not get me wrong – Celia “was” the baddie in the original Hudson series – she has just been rehabilitated ala “Rising as a phoenix from the ashes” in Slay.
The Slay Quartet is such an epic ride of emotions, intrigue, beautiful locales, and one powerful love story. This conclusion in Rising wraps quite a bit up in a nice pretty bow – with one little teaser for the future. The epilogue. Edward and Camila share some intimate sibling time…..but we are never privy to who Camila is attached to? This leaves the door open and I love it!
Wow! What a great conclusion to Celia & Edward’s journey.
Celia & Edward are just made for each other. There is no better way to say how imperfectly perfect they are for each other. They challenged each other. They had amazing chemistry & banter. Celia & Edward both had secrets & pasts, but together were able to confront them. Together they were strong & could take on anything.
I loved every twists & turn that happened on Celia & Edward. I didn’t always like them, but they won me over. My favorite couple by Laurelin Paige!
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Celia the character you love to hate will definitely become the character you hate to love but you will.
Wow the Dragon has been slayen. And I’m at peace knowing all is well in the world that held so many questions about how the Dragon came to be.
For those of you who hated Celia and can’t imagine being able to like ot tolerate her you will definitely change your mind, I promise. The world of Celia and Edward is a mixed up one with revenge and dominance. Don’t get me wrong there is also hot, steamy and whole hearted love and SEX. But who would have ever thought the Dragon lady has a heart and a need to be motherly. The way Laurelin Paige is able to weave this story around The Fixed Series and make you understand ALL the characters is absolutely amazing. Of course, Ms. Paige never seems to disappoint with her books and I just can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
The ending to this series was so good! I loved it. A lot of eye opening for both Celia and Edward. Also I think some closure for Hudson as well. I loved every minute and I hope to read about them again soon!
Laurelin Paige promised she would leave no question unanswered and that all secrets would be revealed. She kept her promise but in doing so she made me fall more in love with these characters. I think I have a serious girl crush on Celia. Watching Edward and Celia’s relationship change and grow was magical. Edward’s love for Celia is more than visible as their story comes to a close. Celia is a shadow of her former self and this new more mature, totally in love with Edward, version of her is more than we could have asked for. Did I mention she’s my new best friend? Edward and Celia’s journey hasn’t been all smooth sailing but in the end we are left feeling more than content…..just like Edward and Celia.
What an ending! Rising was the prefect conclusion to the Slay series. Laurelin Paige made me like Celia when for so long I was not a fan. After meeting her in the Fixed series I was not a fan at all and didn’t see any way Celia could be redeemed. I was proved wrong and so glad we got her story.
Edward was just what Celia needed. He’s one of those alpha males you love. I loved watching Edward and Celia’s relationship progress with each book. I couldn’t get enough of this series and these characters. The Slay series is a must read.
As Celia and Edward’s journey continues the more I’m sucked in. As it continues to unravel the more invested i get into their intense and gripping storyline. There is lots of drama and growth and never a dull moment. I had such a love and hate relationship with this couple and they will win you over as they find a place in your head, mind and heart. Absolutely loved the conclusion. This series a definitely a must read.
Rising was the perfect conclusion to the Slay Quartet. Celia and Edward are complex individuals, and they’re even more complex as a couple. In Rising, they’re both learning how to give each other what they need and desire their happily ever after, but they’ve got to fight for it. There’s a balance between giving your partner what they truly need and staying true to yourself, and it was satisfying to watch these two try and find that balance. Plus, the chemistry with this pair is on fire. I love them so much and think they’re perfect for one another.
I loved the dual POV, and I LOVED any mention of/interaction with Hudson and Alayna. I’ll take what I can get lol, and seeing these relationships addressed the way they were made sense and was fulfilling.
As an aside, I’m thankful Celia’s story was written and that we got a deeper look into who she is as a character. I never thought I’d want—let alone enjoy—her story, but I’m glad I trusted in Laurelin’s storytelling abilities. There’s more to Celia than initially meets the eye, and her story broke my heart and put it back together again. She and Edward deserve a happy ending with one another, and I’m still all in my feels over how everything wrapped up. If you’re on the fence about this series, trust me, it’s worth the read.
I’ll start by saying that Laurelin Paige wrapped up this series with elegance and satisfaction! The first book, Rivalry, presented our dragon heroine, Celia Werner, and our enigmatic Hero, Edward Fasbender. Each had a secret agenda when they met and the ground work laid for an intense rivalry. The second book, Ruin, focused on whether Edward could take the “game” out of Celia so she could reveal her true self. The aptly named third book, Revenge, centered on Edward and Celia seeking revenge/justice for something in their respective pasts. This final book, Rising, sees our couple coming out on the other side, but not everything is smooth sailing. If you’re familiar with the Fixed Universe, you’ll recognize that Rising takes place during events which occur in Chandler and Fixed Forever, and it’s so interesting to experience it from Edward and Celia’s points of view.
Rising is told from a dual point of view as Celia shares her fears and joys and Edward, struggles to overcome his need to know everything so he can control the outcome. Celia proves to be a worthy partner to Edward as she capitulates to him on some matters, but fiercely challenges him on others. Their respective realizations of what’s truly important allows their phoenix to not only rise, but to soar! every Loved every hard-fought victory!
Intense, intoxicating, and provocative, Paige’s Slay Quartet quickly turned my thoughts of her prior works with these formidable characters that inhabited them on their axis.
A character I absolutely loathed in Paige’s Fixed series, Celia Werner, quickly became one of the fiercest and most adored female characters I have read to date.
Slay Quartet has filled an insatiable need for something new and different in what can, at times, become a monotonous genre. Look no further for the escape you didn’t know you needed.
As Always, Happy Reading!
“5/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
Rising is the perfect ending to the Slay series. Laurelin Paige’s writing is outstanding as always. I loved every minute of this story and couldn’t read fast enough. Celia and Edward have definitely grown on me and are one of my all time favorite couples. Rising is worth the emotional rollercoaster to see Celia and Edward change and grow into what each other needs. A must read!
Rising was an exquisite conclusion to the Slay Quartet! This series was masterfully written. It was a journey of penance, redemption, and finding one’s true self against all odds.
This series illustrates the remarkable talent and determination of the author. To write a story featuring one of the most hated characters we’ve ever met and transform her into a character that we admired, encouraged, and rooted for in the end, that takes a lot of guts. To echo the words of the author: this story definitely needed to be written.
I absolutely HATED Celia after reading The Fixed Trilogy. I know I wasn’t the only one who felt this way. But after finally reading her story, and finally understanding the why behind all the devious and callous actions and words, I can genuinely appreciate the new, and much more lovable, version of Celia. You won’t find many stories out there (at least, not many that I’ve read) that feature the female lead as needing absolution. That’s why this story uniquely stands on it own. Edward may have been the one manipulating and coercing Celia throughout the story, but it was exactly what she needed. And in turn, Edward did his own soul searching, discovering that by changing Celia, he too changed for the better. They couldn’t be more perfect for each other…the dragon and the devil.
Rising, along with the entire quartet, was pure brilliance! The character development, the architectural plot, and the gamut of emotions all combine to create an unbelievably fascinating and exquisite love story. This must-read series is 100% binge-worthy and one you will truly never forget!
A Top Read of 2020
Talk about finishing with a bang!! This book was by far my favourite in the series. I literally couldn’t put it down – forcing my family to fend for themselves, I didn’t move from my spot until the last word.
I love an author who can make me love someone like Celia. Not just forgive her for past sins, but genuinely adore her. And Edward, well he’s the epitome of an alpha in my books. Nobody messes with what’s his. Together their broken parts made a whole.
“How is it you see so much good in a man who is clearly a devil?”
“Oh, I see the devil, too,” I assured him. “I like him just as much.”
EEEEPPPP!!!!!! Can’t wait to read this!
I love how she gave us a story worthy of Celia’s redemption. Well paced and written and worth reading all 4 in this series!
