This is friends to lovers story. Colton, Melanie and Hawk have been inseparable their whole lives. Best friends, but there has always been a little something brewing between Colton and Melanie. Colton, however, has been away at school and Melanie has changed…not to mention she is a little bit of trouble.
When Colton comes home, he hears through the meddling town that Melanie is working 3 jobs. One of which is at the local bar. Imagine his surprise when he sees Melanie in a skimpy outfit waitressing. Colton goes into instant protector mode, but Melanie has been taking care of herself to long and doesn’t need a protector…or does she. The town has gone off the rails with the bet to see when Colton will finally profess his love… will he? Will anyone win the bet?
This was an easy read with steam, romance, a hot cowboy, and a strong willed woman. I enjoyed this installment of the series. But, I would be lying if I didn’t say I have been waiting for Hawk and Dawn’s story… which is next. I can’t wait!
Another amazing story
Colton is the next brother in the Lodge-Freeze family to find himself with a woman, when he had no plan for one just quite yet Melanie has been his best friend along with Hawk, since they were young kids. When Hawk returns from a mission he makes Colton aware that she’s working three jobs which causes Colton to anger. But when Colton glimpses her in one of her “uniforms” he desires her and sees her as a beautiful woman
When Melanie sees Colton, she is hit with a knee buckling lust and thinks she might be falling for her best friend, but doesn’t want a relationship to ruin anything between them. She has some personal problems but isn’t quite ready to share these with Colton, until he accidentally witnesses her somewhere she shouldn’t be….mysterious
A wonderful story of friends to lovers romance with some spectacular family scenes as well. On to Hawk’s story now
Melanie and Colton’s story was an emotional journey filled with flirtation, humor and a love so beautiful, both are too stubborn enough to admit. Colton was completely dense about Melanie and her feelings for him. He didn’t realize it until it was almost too late. Melanie was very headstrong and constantly fought with Colton, who often played her seriousness off as a joke. The pair complements each other well and it was entertaining to watch them come to terms with their feelings for one another.
What I really love about this small town is that there are no secrets from anyone there. Everyone is in everyone else’s business and it is so fun to watch as the entire town gets in on the matchmaking. I also love the strong family aspect of the book as well. At one point in the story, Colton made a huge mistake and instead of ridiculing him for it, the family pulled together and supported him.
I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see much Hawk and Dawn action. We’ve always known Hawk is a quiet man with many secrets; only now he’s become more mysterious and I can’t wait until his story is revealed. Perhaps in the next book?
Another great read from Rebecca Zanetti!
