Some say the great mystery of how one can live in two worlds at once died with Thomas Hunter many years ago. Still others that the gateway to that greater reality was and is only the stuff of dreams. They are all wrong. Rachelle Matthews, who grew up in the small town of Eden, Utah, discovered just how wrong when she dreamed and awoke in another world. There she learned that she was the 49th … the 49th Mystic, the prophesied one, tasked with finding five ancient seals before powerful enemies destroy her. If Rachelle succeeds in her quest, peace will reign. If she fails, the world will forever be locked in darkness.
In The 49th Mystic, Rachelle found the first three of those five seals through great peril and mind-altering adventure. But two seals remain hidden and the fate of both worlds hangs in their balance.
As Rachelle Matthews sits deep in a dungeon, Vlad Smith is just getting started. Thomas Hunter’s world is about to be turned inside out. The mystics say that there is no defense against the Fifth Seal–but finding it will cost Rachelle everything.
So begins the final volume of high stakes in one girl’s quest to find an ancient path that will save humanity. The clock is ticking; the end rushes forward.

I give this book 5 stars! This two-book series is mind-bending and spirit-awakening. The Rise of the Mystics is just as riveting as the 49th Mystic.
The characters and action are compelling, but the allegory took me to a new level of who I am in Christ, invited to live in His kingdom of love and peace right now. Wow. I will treasure these books in my personal library.
I received my copy of the Rise of the Mystics from the publisher. My views are my own.
WOWZERS! Rise of the Mystics is a must read for those longing for more of deeper relationship with Jesus. Dekker masterfully expresses spiritual truths that go deep in your spirit. This story will linger for a long while.
Recommend to those who no longer want to remain blind.
I won a copy. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
I was fortunate enough to get an advanced copy of this book. I have not cried so much during a book. I could not wait for it to come out so the rest of friends and family to be able to read this book. What a journey of emotions I was taken on in this book. Ted constantly challenges my faith and beliefs in his writing
A multi faceted supernatural thriller that is perfect to indulge in during these scary and apocalyptic times we are now living in. The young protagonist learns how to face her fears, connect back to for-known love and conquer the shadow of death without employing despair and chafe as the enemy does.
Action packed, easy to read page turner will keep you deep in thought way after you read it. Great asset to your own life’s journey.
This was the second book in a fantastic fantasy series. Rachelle was a girl that heard voices as she grew up and then had nightmares. Make sure to read these books in order. You must read The 49th Mystic first to understand all of the horrific things that Rachelle goes through to find the five seals and save two worlds. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
“Rise of the Mystics” is the second book in the Circle series. At times I was lost but I have a feeling it is because I didn’t read the first book. Ted Dekker had a catch-up section to refresh and summarize what happened in the first book.
Rachelle is at war between the mind and heart. She is learning what it means to live without judgment including self-doubt. Our society makes us feel like we have to hide behind masks. Rachelle and other supporting characters seem to have some growth. This book feels relatable with real-life struggles such as fear, doubt, and uncertainty. There is a lot of spiritual depth. It has a New Age vibe to Christianity. Derrek does a wonderful job explaining spiritual truth in an easy way to understand. His characters are relatable.
This is a faith-driven speculative thriller that makes you use your brain. I’d advise you not to skim the pages because you will get lost. At times the plot seems to be moving at a nice past and other times it moved really slow causing me to be bored. At times the dialogue seems forced and doesn’t go along with the characters. Maybe it is just how I envisioned the characters in my head. When I got to the end of the book I felt like things weren’t wrapped up. His recap on what important events that happened from book one “The 49th Mystic” at the beginning. When it comes to book series I always love authors doing a recap, glossary and character descriptions. For not reading the previous books I didn’t mind it. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t outstanding either. It was an interesting read. The Rise of the Mystic is full of heart and is very intense.
The book was provided to me by Revell Publishing Company for an honest opinion of the book.
Rise of the Mystics is book 2 from Ted Dekker’s series, Beyond the Circle. In this installment, Rachelle’s story continues. I was intrigued how it would all end for her. It was interesting how the author was able to use biblical references in this fantasy. The message is pretty powerful.
I give Rise of the Mystics four stars. I do recommend for readers to read The 49th Mystic first before starting this one.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
Rise of the Mystic by Ted Dekker is a powerful, haunting glance at searching for the light among the darkness in our world today. The ending is dramatic and full of grip the book action. I really didn’t want to be interrupted when the story came to the climactic moment. Luckily for me, I read on my day off and the boys were at school. Plenty of time to myself and Rise of the Mystic. The Rachelle character finished her journey for the present moment and learned more about her purpose to defend the light and keep working to banish the darkness. Overall, Rise of the Mystic by Ted Dekker is a worthy glance into the heart of humanity and what Christians need to be doing while we are existing on this reality. I believe fans of the Circle series should read this two-part saga to complete their collection.
I received a complimentary copy of the Rise of the Mystics by Ted Dekker from Revell Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
It is a book to make you think about how you view life.
I loved this story even more than the Circle series by Ted Dekker. It has such a cool plot and is so intriguing. You definitely cannot predict what will happen. Hope he writes more like this!
Wow could not put it down
Dekker’s Beyond the Circle Book 2 is one of his best yet! I strongly recommend that you read Book 1 first, and even better yet The Circle Trilogy too. You will be thinking about this book long after you finish the final chapter. Awesome!
Really good book! I can’t wait to read his next one!
As Ted said, the culmination of all his books.
If you loved the Circle Series, you will love the 49th Mystic and the Rise of the Mystics! Captivating from the beginning to the very end. Ted Dekker always challenges me to adjust my thinking and to view the world in a different way. The Rise of the Mystics did that and more! It fully pulled me into both worlds and I was cheering Rachelle on each step of the way. Highly recommend!!
Awesome book. Loved it. Would highly recommend this book and series
