Jodi Ashland is a new to me author and Ripped from Obscurity is the first book of hers I have read. I did not read book #1 in this series but I was able to follow along. This is a fun, light and quick read. There is romance, suspense and mystery. The characters are well written. I did not want to put this down once I started. It kept me turning the pages well into the night. I am looking forward to going back and reading book one and then continuing on with book 3.
The storyline was slow to begin with and I was about to stop reading but glad I persevered. Turned out to be a good read.
A great read. It has a bit of everything; drama, nefarious managers, cyberbullying, a tragic death, pain, a kidnapping. As well as being a sweet love story.

Mystery, danger and kidnapping tear a family apart and at the same time brings the same family back together. Manipulation is name of the game and the people you least expect are guilty. There is plenty of action and romance in this story. The characters come across very realistically and personable. They are well written and developed. There is the main plot and also several subplots that made this book so unique, exciting and original. Once I began to read this the more, I needed to keep going. I could not put the book down and I stayed up all night (literally) just to finish it. The attraction between Selena and Tucker was genuine and heartfelt. The more they got to know each other, the more they identified with each other. Both had suffered through trauma and tragedy. Selena was able to help Tucker emotionally and vice versa. They both had diametrically opposite lives. Tucker’s life was very public and Selena did everything to keep hers extremely private. Selena Hawkins is a deep and emotionally sensitive person. She has a talent of putting her thoughts and feelings in poem form. She is truly a gifted writer and when her poems were published, they touched the lives of thousands. One of the poems was about a country star, singer Tucker Calhoun. Tucker’s career took a nose dive when Selena’s poem was attached to him in a negative light. He was accused of things he did not do. When Tucker’s lawyer threatens to sue Selena if she did not print a retraction, Tucker comes up with a different solution. He asks Selena to spend a week with him and see him in a different way. And perhaps she could write another poem that would put him in a more favorable light so that the tide of negativity would abate. There was so much drama and tension written into the story that it was impossible not to feel what was going on with the characters. This is the first book I have read by Jodi Ashland and I can’t wait to read another. An excellent story and I highly recommend it. I am at a loss for words. I just finished reading Ripped from Obscurity maybe 30 seconds ago and the goosebumps are still raised up and I am still fighting the tears. What an emotionally packed crazy suspense filled journey this story took me on. Selena and Tucker are both hurt and broken people. It is the outlet for their pain that brings them together at first but it is Selena’s compassion that keeps them on the path to love, forgiveness and family. I was engage from the first page and only became more invested each word I read. I loved the suspenseful mystery aspect to the story and while I figured out who the real bad guys were pretty quickly, I didn’t figure out why until the information bombs started going off in the end. My mind was reeling from what had happened. I can’t say more because I don’t want to give away any spoilers. All I can say is this story touched and moved me. I am so happy I had the opportunity to participate in an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving this review.
