3 1/2 Stars….
Not sure what this has to do with the Doyles Irish Mafia other than very peripherally. Not sure where the name fits in. Those were a puzzle. But change the name and the blurb and you have a pretty good book. Jack and Alix grew up together, had a date that could have become something, but life took a severe turn for Jack. Now, he is back in town, sorting his life, and in walks Alix. These characters are well written and certainly compelling. The story is well paced, interesting, has a little drama, and some heat. I enjoyed the book, just not with the title and dubious mafia connection.
I received an ARC from Bad Boy Update and this is my honest review.
The divorce was bad enough for Jack, but the court allowed his son to be moved across the country. Taking his anger out in training for MMA bouts, he wasn’t expecting his past to walk through the door of the gym. Alex gave up the medical field to start an animal shelter on prime real estate she inherited. Her ex had encouraged her to sell to developers and when she refused, he started an escalating campaign to wear her down. Jack only wants to protect her, but must overcome ghosts of the past. I enjoyed this intense novel and recommend it.

Jack is on leave and working out in preparation of an MMA fight. Alex, his deceased friends sister enters the gym where Jack is working out. She has a problem. She being stalked, targeted and too many mishaps are happening for her to feel safe. A great story. Jack has had a crush on Alex for a long time and now he will get a chance to protect her and make her his. I liked this story and will need to check the other books out in this series. Alexandra Winthrop appears to have a stalker so a friend convinces her to go to a local gym to get some self-defense lessons for protection. To her surprise, she runs into an old acquaintance, Jack Mulvaney, who is working out for his MMA fights. She and Jack had grown up together and she had a long-time crush on him that never went anywhere. When Jack hears she has been having stalker trouble, he offers to help her out.
Although Jack isn’t looking for a relationship of any kind, he can’t forget the past, both the good and bad parts. Becoming her personal body guard puts them together, and nature takes its course.
This is a good story line with likable characters who make the reader hope for them to renew their relationship and let themselves heal. Can he let the tragedy from the past go and instead look for a future with Alix?
Awesome story. I loved it. It was a very emotional story, I started crying quit a few times. Very well done. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Beautiful romance
3.5
Beautiful romance well written but a little predictable for the romantic part. There is, however, a little suspense about the attacks on the heroin.
Jack is a former marine who is now a fighter in the WMA and who meet again Alix who is running an animal shelter. He liked her when they were younger, but he feels guilty for not being able to protect Alix’s brother when they were together in the military. However, when Jack discovers that Alix is threatened, he decides to go to her house and protect her. As a result, they get closer, but Jack’s guilt and threats to the shelter are obstacles to their relationship.

Absolutely phenomenal! This is my first book by Sophie Austin and certainly won’t be my last!I simply loved Jack and Alex’s story, it was fast paced, intriguing, intense, unbelievably sexy and you can’t help but fall in love with Jack and Alex. The writing flows perfectly, I loved the author’s writing style, the plot flowed smoothly from page to page, and the characters were well developed and likable. I will definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This is book seven in the Doyle Series. Jack and Alex had known each other as teenagers and life since then had left them both with a lot of baggage. Good story, even flow, and great character portrayals. Good read!

Still waters run deep…
Somehow I missed the fact that this story was part of a series. Fortunately it can be read as a stand-alone. Unfortunately I had to add the rest of the series to my TBR list. The history between Jack and Alix was long and filled with memories….some good, some not. It’s that history that Jack will need to move past if there is to be a HEA with Alix.

ARC review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Jack mulvanery is in the marine corps special operations unit, in the ring as a MMA fighter ,father of jj, has ex wife and with one hit a future and hope opens up when alexandera winthrop walks back into his life. Awesome story beautiful.
An older marine training for a MMA fight, when a blast from his past walks in the door of the gym. Her brother was under his command and died on a training accident. This is a complicated book that was hard for me to wrap my head around. Going back and forth from past to present isn’t for me.
I was glued to my kindle from the very beginning with the great character and plot development! I was so engrossed in this story that I read this book in one sitting!
This is a fantastic addition to this series and a perfect Christmas story. It’s fast-paced and is the story of Alex, who needs help and Jack who shall do everything he can to help her. Their chemistry is wonderful to watch making this an brilliant book to read.

I loved this story Alex and Jack are perfect together, she goes to the gym so she can have defence lessons and I loved how protective he is especially because of the stalker.

This was my first time reading a book by this author.
I liked the storyline and writing style, I was hooked from the start and read this book in one sitting. However, there were times where I felt the flow of the story was kind of choppy, especially with flashbacks.
Characters where both likable and had great connection and chemistry. They were also really well developed for such a fast-paced read.
I will definitely read more from this author and check previous books in The Doyles series.

Absolutely fantastic! A well written, consistent, fast pace and emotionally deep second chance book seven in the Doyles series. The story line is well developed with scenes that are very intense, funny, engaging, and witty. There is passion, family love, suspense, twists and turns, nefarious acts, and surprises. The characters are strong and a perfect match; the chemistry between them is potent. A riveting read and is strongly recommended!

This is my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last. I need every book in this series. It’s sweet, sexy, sassy and just absolutely everything.
Alix has a stalker so she goes to her friends gym for self defense lessons. What she doesn’t count on is running I to Jack there. She and Jack grew up together and she’s crushed on him for ages. Life happened and pulled them apart though so that’s all it ever was.
Jack is in the Marines and for something to do after he started fighting MMA. During one of his training sessions Alix walks in, and boy is that a blast from the past. When he finds out she’s been having trouble, he takes it on himself to help her out.
They’ve shared a lot of their lives and even tragedy that pulls them close while at times keeping them away. They connection and chemistry is undeniable and not something they could fight long. I loved this book and everything but it. Now I need to go read the rest.
This book is number seven in the Boston Irish Mafia Romance series. I have absolutely loved reading this series and being a part of seeing each Doyle find their HEA. This is Jack and Alexandra’s story. Jack is a single Dad with a rough and tumble background where Alex is the perfectly sweet girl next door. Alex finds herself in danger and she goes to Jack for help. With some self defense moves in her back pocket, is she good on her own? What if she doesn’t have to be alone? Is this the string that ties these two together? Another well written story for the series. Enjoy!

Jack is a military man with a past that. His father was abusive & he thought anyone he may love he would hurt. He was friends with Alix & her brothers for years. Alix ran into Jack while he was training for a big MMA fight that was coming up. Alix was actually going there for self defense help because she was not feeling safe from an ex-boyfriend Jack wants to protect the girl who always had his heart from a young age. He stays with her & things start to happen with their feelings. He starts to open up his heart. He is learning to love all with the help of Alix. On their wedding day a year later she finds out some shocking news & just cant wait to tell him. This series was good. He seems to be the last of the characters in this series. More to come!
