And so the adventure begins.
This is the fifth instalment of the paranormal cozy mystery series, A Witch in Time Series. Although this was the first book in the series I have read I felt it was good as a stand-alone and it won’t be the last one I read. The characters were great and the mystery was good. I read the book in one sitting as I wanted to see how it ended. The storyline was easy to read and fought with twist, turns and surprises that keep you interested. The narrative was well written, depicting the time the story took place very well. It is a very creative cozy paranormal mystery series.

Nula is a given a very complicated assignment. As she attempts to gather evidence to solve the case, she is faced with another mystery that she’s had her whole life. This book was very intriguing and it dared me to continue until the very end. The writing was flawless as this book in the series is written by a different author.

I really enjoyed Nuala, she is quite the quirky witch! The other characters were fun and the mystery was good.

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author, and I am so glad to have discovered her! I absolutely adore paranormal cozy mysteries, and this one hit all the right notes. I love Nuala as the smart and sassy time-traveling paranormal investigator. With this particular case, she is handling something she doesn’t normally like in her investigations—anything involving children—but in this case, she actually goes back to a girls’ academy in 1985 and meets her birth mother. I love the 80s aspect of this story, as I graduated high school myself in 1985. Nuala’s thoughts and actions rang true for her character, and the author did an excellent job of pulling me right into the story with well-written narrative and dialogue and engaging characters. I loved the sometimes-cat, sometimes-old lady familiar, Lily Rose; she the perfect grumbling old lady. I liked Nuala’s sweet and helpful boyfriend. In all, this was a delightfully well-written paranormal cozy mystery, and I am glad this series is available on Kindle Unlimited so I can dip into the author’s backlist.
Lost Souls ParaAgency and the Illusion of a Vampire #3 – This is my first read by this author and I loved it. I did not know this was a series, there were a few mentions of the past, but it did not take away from this book – a standalone for sure. The storylines are interesting with plenty of humor. The characters, even the baddies, are interesting and believable. None of them acted stupid and some even had intelligence.
There is an event mentioned but not delved into so it is a nice surprise to find the details after the story ended. Looks like there will be another character added to the gang in the next book. I had so much fun reading this book that it finished too soon with the steadily moving pace. The mystery is a good one, better than the usual cozy. There is an overview, which I appreciate knowing about a book before I read it. I found this book on Booksprout. 4*
Right Witch Wrong Time #5 – While I was reading Mourning Express, this book popped up on Booksprout. Again, being clueless about this series and having enjoyed the last two books I read, I thought, why not. This book is different from the other two concerning the low level of humor because of the serious mood in the storylines. The storylines are interesting, but time travel to the 80s wasn’t my cup of time, I didn’t like the 80s. The mysteries the investigator worked on were interesting, a daughter discovering her mother who died at childbirth. Still a good book to read, just not for me. 4*
Mourning Express #3 – After reading Lost Souls #3, I discovered this book in my library. I had read Sam Cheever’s addition to the Funeral Fakers, loved it, and thought why not read this one, too. Well written with interesting storylines, even though it is sad about Grammy, there was plenty of humor, some out loud bursts. The characters are well written and entertaining, with plenty of good dialog. Rosie actually has a bit of IQ about her. The mystery was not bad, with the usual redirects. 4*

Nuala (pronounced Noo-la) loves solving cold case murders from the past involving the paranormal. But she doesn’t do large groups of teens. All that teenage angst can quickly become to much to handle for someone with powers of empath. There is a good reason though, that the Agency sends her. So, off to 1985 we go!!!
I loved Nuala. I could really relate to her. I also loved Lily Rose, Nuala’s familiar who can shift into an old lady. Not a sweet old lady! But a funny one, who is honest and direct, bordering on rude. Nuala finds it hard to focus on the case, with that other, personal thing going on.
This was a fantastic book! Wow! I loved every second of it. A clever case; I didn’t know whodunit until the very end. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves quirky paranormal cozies!
This was the 1st book I’ve read from this author and I was blown away. I was totally hooked and absolutely loved it. Love Nuala. She is smart and sharp. Uses a lot of common sense. She is able to learn about her biological without messing with the timeline. I love her familiar, Lily Rose, who is a great sidekick and gets right to the point. And Nuala’s human boyfriend, Seth, is awesome, because he helps with her cases without knowing that there is paranormal involved. The idea of the “subscription cold case of the month club” is a fantastic cover and I love how he gets excited about helping. Very clever. The mystery had me guessing almost to the end. Lots of suspects. Great ending. Can’t wait to read more about Nuala.
