Shelby Williams has never had a boyfriend worthy of her parents’ approval. The ones she dated were either not rich enough, not well bred enough, or just not good enough. Her luck changes when she meets Tommy Edwards. With an IQ of about a billion, a sexy smile, and a personality as sweet as the treats he bakes, he’s a guy even her parents will have to accept.Between the pressure of graduate … graduate school and a needy ex-girlfriend, Tommy Edwards has had enough stress to last a lifetime. But when he meets Shelby, his plans to stay unattached go up in smoke. Shelby makes him laugh, and the passion she stirs in him is hotter than an oven. She’s the only girl he’s ever met who likes him for who he is rather than just for his intelligence.
When Shelby’s parents take a shine to Tommy, she blurts out that they are engaged, even though they’ve only been dating for three weeks. Tommy is furious, but before she can set everyone straight, both families go into full-blown nuptial mode, including hiring a wedding planner and shopping for a dress. Tommy and Shelby need to figure out how to tell their families the engagement was fake without ruining what’s real.

Shelby isn’t looking for a relationship. Tommy is back from Boston to take a break from his pH D and a dangerous ex-girlfriend. When they meet the attraction is so powerful they can’t find but when they met Shelby’s parent after one week dating, Shelby blurts out they are engaged, beacuse Tommy is the first boyfriend her parents had ever approved. Things go to messier when Tommy’s family think their engagement is true and Boston’s problems start pressuring Tommy. Can they have a future together with Shelby’s trust issues and Tommy’ s secrets? A really sweet story. I received a free copy of this book and I voluntarily reviewed it.
I love this book. I want to live this book. It was the epitome of HEA. If I had a baker in my life, I’d weigh a ton.
These characters were so likeable. They had true feelings and that was shown throughout the entire story. They were so tuned in to other people they never gave themselves a break yet only had eyes for each other from the first meeting. I can’t wait for another story.
This book was gifted to me by the author in return for an honest review.
This book was a fun read. The story line is funny and serious at the same time.
When I see certain authors’ books pop up on my Kindle, I get the warm and fuzzy feeling in my gut of knowing that I’m in for a treat. Knowing I’m in for a warm, heartfelt story, that I’ll be able to curl up in my pajamas and read through the night. It’s such a good feeling, that feeling of certainty, of knowing I won’t be disappointed. That’s what happens when I get a new Cindy Dorminy book.
RIGHT FOR ME is the story of Shelby and Tommy. They have an instant attraction and flirtationship, and find themselves hanging around with each other and becoming romantically involved. Then, with pressure from the family, they end up in a fake engagement. Tommy is a swoonworthy hero, who BAKES! And Shelby is a bit quirky and completely endearing. I love that the story has a big focus on families (the good and the bad), and shows these characters growing alongside each other.
RIGHT FOR ME is a fun, solid, romance read, and will give you that warm, fuzzy, comfortable feeling of a typical Dorminy book. Highly recommended for those who like a lighter romance with real-life, endearing characters.
A fake engagement just to make her parents happy brings Shelby and Tommy together. Of course, it isn’t that easy. Feelings develop, trust is earned, and love grows as these two try to maintain a relationship without lying to everyone who is important to them.
I enjoyed how different these two were raised yet they both turned out with amazing hearts, wonderful lives, and the ability to love each other. Tommy’s baking had my stomach growling many times. Shelby’s love for Tommy had me swooning.
Cindy Dorminy wrote a book that pulled me in, introduced me to some wonderful families, and kept me turning page after page. I recommend picking up your own copy and falling into this amazing story.
Easy to read love story with a good cast of characters. Throw in a crazy stalker, misunderstandings and a lot of baking. The main characters have great chemistry and are good together. All women should have a romantic chef in their life like Tommy!! This is series of books and there are a couple of situations that are confusing if you haven’t read the other books.
I have a soft spot for romantic comedies. My own marriage is full of comedic incidents so I relate to them. Right for Me hits the my soft spot dead center.
A blurted out comment meant to deflect unwanted parental attention blows up in the face of our hero and heroine, Tommy and Shelby, causing no end of confusion. When the fake engagement becomes too real, they have to find a way to save their relationship without ruining their family relationships.
Right for Me has a great fresh take on the “fake engagement” trope in romance novels. It’s a traditional romance, with implied relations, but no less hot. There’s more story here than sex, and I like that. The characters are well drawn, and as the child of a United Methodist minister myself, I can so relate to Tommy’s family situation. Pastor’s families are very close knit, and Tommy’s definitely fits the bill. It was fun to see that we’re also pretty normal and not as straight laced as people think we have to be. Thanks for that, Cindy Dorminy!
The conclusion is fun, and so fits our lovers. They get what they want, but not quite the way they thought, just like real life.
Great story and worth your time!
The storyline was well written and the characters were very likable, believable and so engaging that I was totally enthralled until the very end! This was the first book that I have read by this author and it definitely will not be the last!
This was a sweet and memorable book. I have to admit, it took a little time for me to get into it, but once I did, I zipped right through it needing to know what would happen next. Shelby and Tommy were perfect for each other, but it seemed every time things were going great, something would happen to almost pull them apart. I was so happy they got a happily ever after because for a while I thought maybe it wouldn’t happen with all of the lies and misunderstandings.
I enjoyed the author’s writing and the characters she created. Along with the romance, there is family drama and close friendships that keep this story moving along nicely. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance or women’s fiction.
What a sweet story. If you want a story with instant chemistry, an absolutely adorable “meet cute” and plenty of laughs mixed with emotion, misunderstanding and panicking in the midst of chaos this is the book for you.
This is my first book by this author and it won’t be my last.
Although this is such a lovely story it brought a lot to the table in terms of relating to true everyday life. Poor Shelby was just tying to live her life but like all of us she suffered the everyday problems we all face, rejection, living up to parents expectations, and not living her best life to the fullest. Enter Tommy. Tommy captured my heart the moment I saw him (yes, I saw him in my minds eye from the lovely description of his looks and character written by the author). Tommy is one the sweetest characters I have ever read in a book. He just wants to do the right thing, which isn’t always easy for him. His heart definitely rules his head in every area of his life. World’s collide when they meet and from there it spins off into a hilarious at times, heartfelt most of the time, wonderful story of family, friends, treachery, manipulation and moments that will pull at every heartstring. Just like in real life there are elements out of our control but life goes on and we have to motor on. Sometimes we do stupid things on impulse not thinking it through and it costs us. Believe me you get all that in this book and much more.
I don’t do spoilers. I don’t think it’s fair to the author. Read the blurb and get the joy of discovering what is happening. Isn’t that why we read books? What I will say are the characters are wonderful. I haven’t decided out of the secondary characters who I like best. I’m hoping for books on these families to follow.
To the author I say well done. As you can tell I totally enjoyed this book. To the readers I say read this book you deserve to enjoy it as my as I did!
