4 Star Review of Right Between The Eyes (Between The Sheets #3) by Serenity Woods
The third book in the series and a stand alone. Not having read the previous books in the series, I was concerned that I might have had some issues. That was not the case, this is Billie and Jonah Sharpe’s story and one I enjoyed.
I enjoy Ms. Woods writing style; her characters are always believable and the way she describes the surroundings, often makes me feel as though I am seeing the places she talks about in my mind.
Right Between The Eyes is a friends, well more like frenemies, to lovers story. Jonah is an outrageous flirt and Billie is determined to stay well clear of the hot fireman; having been badly hurt by her previous relationship with Oliver.
Trying to figure out how to help raise much needed funds for charity, she is shocked when her friends tell her they will donate 200.00, the catch being she has to go on a date with Jonah? After all it’s only one date, what could possibly happen?
But complications arise when one date turns in to more and Billie suddenly finds herself involved with Jonah.
I’m glad Jonah and Billy found each other. I thought it was sad that Jonah was forced to hold on to the secret as long as he did.
The whole secret scenario was such a great tease. At one point, I had a sneaking suspicion that I knew the secret. Then, found out I figured out a small part, but no way near the overall secret.
A number of steamy sex scenes, but also a number of tender scenes where Jonah helped Billy work through her insecurities about him, and herself. A kind of sweet love story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.
That’s were this book hit me Serenity did not disappoint with book 3 from Between the Sheets. It was richly romantic and perfectly steamy. This story hit so many ‘feels’ I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. Finished it in a day. Billie & Jonah have made my list of perfect book couples. With the sexual tension & chemistry between them, you just new they had to be destined for more. They both have secrets that block their ability to give themselves completely. I don’t want to give too much away so you’ll just have to read to find out all the juicy details yourself but I think you’ll be happy when you do. I enjoyed Billie & Jonah’s story and can’t wait for book 4.

A bit underwhelming
This is a friends-to-lovers steamy contemporary romance set in New Zealand. I am a huge fan of Serenity Woods, and I have read and loved most of her books. However, this one was good but not great, in my opinion. Usually, I love and connect with both main characters from the first few pages but not so much with this novella. Jonah was quite nice, respectful, and a gorgeous firefighter. Billie (the female primary character) was nice, but her particular brand of nervousness about dating got on my nerves a little. I always felt a bit distant from the two of them. Also, it seems like there was less sensory detail in this novel than is usually the case in Serenity Woods’ books.
Now, the great things. First, Jonah and Billie both had some extremely interesting secrets that pre-dated the start of their dating relationship. Those secrets helped to keep me interested. Next, I appreciated how Jonah took their relationship slowly, as Billie requested. I love how he finally swept her off her feet. Lastly, the bedroom scenes were smoking hot!
This is Book #3 in the “Between the Sheets” series. It can be read as a standalone, but I think it would be better if you read Book #1 (“A Secret Between Friends”) because people and events from that book are mentioned a lot in this Book #3. You don’t have to read Book #2 in order because stuff from that book is barely mentioned. I adored Book #1 and #2, both 5 stars for me. This series is about a circle of about eight friends, a few of whom are siblings. I think that eight is a lot of names to keep track of, especially since it has been so long since I read the previous books.

Friends to Lovers.
Jonah and Billie have been friends, and only friends, for years, despite all their friends seeing the chemistry between them. Billie had a long term partner and Jonah flitted from one girl to another but circumstances change for both of them; their friends force a date on the pair of them and the rest is history! Sizzle and Romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This author creates characters that are hard to forget. I become invested in their stories and care about them long after I finish the book. She has done it again with Billie and Jonah who are wonderful together!
Jonah is one book boyfriend I think we all would like to be the heroine for. He listens, cares, takes his time, is nonjudgmental, is able to keep a secret, he is oh so many wonderful things wrapped up in a gorgeous package. Billie is at first afraid to lose the wonderful sometimes quirky friendship she has with Jonah but after a while she, too, believes the two have more going for them than friendship.
This is a book that is more than a love story and it made me wish I could meet the group that Billie and Jonah hang out with. These are good people that deserve the happiness they find and I enjoyed reading every page of their story! I am eager to read whatever this author writes next!
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
