Richie made a break from a Pride and an Alpha that were both abusive and dangerous. He’s had time to overcome the insecurities and damage done during his youth. Now he’s found a new Pride, a new home, a new Alpha, and he’s flourishing. But he’s never forgotten the young girl that he knew as a child. The girl that even then, he knew was meant to be his. She was sent away, along with Richie’s … mother for their protection from his former Alpha — his father — and Richie hasn’t seen them since. He keeps up with her through his mother. She’s happy and married, and all Richie can do is wish her well. But an early morning phone call from his mother has him dropping everything in a rush to bring them both back into his world to the safety and security his new Pride provides. His mother is ready and willing, but will his childhood friend — his mate — accept his offer to come along? Or will he have to throw her over his shoulder and carry her away in the night?
Yvette lost both her parents when she was a young child. Her former Alpha murdered them. She is alive today only because she was fortunate enough to be spirited away with her true mate’s mother for their own safety. Constance raised Yvette as her own, knowing that one day her son, Yvette’s mate, would come for them both. But Yvette grew tired of waiting. A man with pretty words and flashy possessions caught her eye, and now she’s at his mercy — a virtue he doesn’t have much of. She lays in the bed she made because the man she chose as husband threatens Constance’s safety, if she ever tries to leave him. She’s lost so much of herself she doubts she’d be able to adapt to a life outside abuse, anyway. Little does she know, Constance has already called in reinforcements. Her mate is on his way, and he doesn’t give a damn what came before him. He’s coming for what’s his and won’t take no for an answer.

This can be read as a stand alone, but there are a couple of mentions that you aren’t going to if you haven’t read book 1.
I have to I am super curious as to why Roman feels he so unworthy. This book is not about Roman, but he has a good size roll and I have loved Roman’s character since book one. There are quite a few little hints about other characters in this one, but just enough make us sit on pins and needles while we wait for the next book in the series. It was great hearing from some of the original characters of Avaleigh’s Boys. This The story of Richie and Yvette, but everyone in the Pride is involved, that makes it feel like one big family. Many of these males seem broken in some way and I am eager to read each and every story. This has great characters. It’s well written. It’s well edited. It will make laugh, make you angry, make you think, make you sad, it is AMAZING!
The best shifter book I have read this year. Richie grabs your heart as he goes and grabs his mother and mate from an evil crazy man. I promise once you start you will not put it down until the end. Another great addition to a great series.
This book was soo good! Yvette is married to an abusive mafia man. He’s using his own product and becoming more unhinged day by day. She’s Richie’s mate, but they took different directions at one point in their lives. When Richie is made aware of the situation, he’s done waiting and goes to rescue his mother and Yvette. This unfolding love story is sweet, steamy, & perfect. What I love about this series is that they are all family, no matter what type of shifter! Richie’s family makes good on their promise to protect Yvette and handle the bad guys. Some is graphic, but deserved. (There was one point there where this story was reading like a scene from Pulp Fiction!)
I loved this story. Why can’t it be a shifter soap opera? I’d totally watch it! These characters are a family. I love how their lives are interwoven and each book Sandra writes covers more than just the 2 main characters. I’m looking forward to a story about Roman and some other fun developments! 5 stars
Excellent addition to Riley’s Pride series!
Richie is a gem! He is there for Yvette whether she’s ready to accept him or not. Yvette is selfless, putting others’ safety before her needs. Yes, she’s a bit slow to give credit where it’s due, but no worries – this is a heartwarming romance. So many interesting folks whose stories are waiting to be told.
I do so love this series! There is such a deep, abiding sense of family, love, and loyalty. Not always perfect, sometimes needing a nudge (or kick) in the right direction, but there’s always love. Beautifully done!
