I am a fan of this author’s books and have read several in the Three Rivers setting. I always laugh at the fact that it is nowhere near the real town of Three Rivers, Tx. This story was entertaining, and did not disappoint except for one item. The main character and her sisters own a 200 acre ranch where their cattle have “dwindled” to about a thousand head and they graze freely most of the year. As a landowner in Texas, I can vouch for the fact that supporting a free range herd of 1000 on 200 acres is highly unlikely, if not impossible. Chalk that up to the fictional aspect, I guess.
I liked the characters, but the plot became a bit contrived 2/3 of the way through. I like happy endings, however, so I’m glad I finished the book. Not sure I would choose to read it again.
A lovely way to spend a wintery afternoon!
I enjoyed reading this book so much I am now reading the others in the series
Liz Isaacson’s Rhett’s Make-Believe Marriage is the first book in the Seven Sons Ranch: Three Rivers Romance series and makes you excited about the others to come!
Rhett didn’t mean to meet his neighbors, the Foster sister in his storm cave during a tornado, but that was the way his luck had been having that day. The three Foster sisters went to secure the property of their new neighbor and had planned on being home when the tornado hit, but being a tornado, it had other ideas. Safe in a cave with a gorgeous man, a gorgeous grumpy man, to share the time with, was not their idea of feeling safe.
Evelyn was the matchmaker in town, although a secret one, that’s business was going downhill. Who wanted a matchmaker that couldn’t find a match for herself? But what would happen if her friend Rhett became said husband? Would that make her business better or would it make it worse? And for who? Rhett and his brothers made a pact, no women and no dating, but…some pacts are harder than others to keep, especially when you want to help a friend. So Evelyn and Rhett decide to get married, only on paper, but life has a way of creeping up on you when you least expect it. And can get you in an unusual situation with your brothers. But love can develop when you aren’t’ looking and we get to go along for the ride. A fun and entertaining book to read.
Evelyn is a successful matchmaker, happy with her boyfriend. The new neighbors, single brothers, will be helpful for her business. This all changes; with no boyfriend, no women matched with the brothers, and no business. For some reason, the only option for Rhett to help her is to marry her. They like each other, but neither says anything. I do not understand why they jumped to marriage instead of dating. Everyone is terrible communicating.
I found this storyline to be a little confusing. Why was Evelyn so hesitant about everything when it was all her idea? I liked Rhett. I also liked that they were in that late 30’s to mid forties age range.
There was an obvious attraction between Rhett and Evelyn. They were best friends. Rhett was all in for the make believe marriage. I never got the sense he was trying to hide his feelings for Evelyn, at least not to the point she couldn’t tell Rhett was falling in love with her.
Evelyn was not my favorite character. I thought she was a little selfish. That her focus was on what she wanted and needed. She seemed to see the path their relationship was taking, and encouraged certain aspects of it, yet she was not all in.
This was a sweet, clean romance between two people who relied on their faith to help them make difficult decisions and see them through troubling times.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book received from the author.
Recommend the read. Good clean book. Interesting story line.
I received an advanced ebook and I am voluntarily leaving my review.
What is a matchmaker to do when seven, yes, 7, handsome, single brothers buy the ranch next to her and her sisters. Callie can’t look successful if she doesn’t have a boyfriend herself and if she can’t match the ladies with the neighbors. She has an inventive solution and it make for a fun read. Liz Isaacson does her usual great job of bringing us fun characters and an interesting story line. I look forward to the rest of this series.
Highly entertaining, laugh out loud fun, emotionally thrilling romantic journey filled with lots of witty banter, interesting charters and undeniable passion….. a great read from beginning to end. Really enjoyed reading this story and looking forward to my next journey to the Seven Sons Ranch.
This is not my usual read but I did enjoyed it.
Great new series by Liz Isaacson! The Walker brothers have moved to Seven Sons Ranch. The first time Rhett and Evelyn meet there is an attraction, but Evelyn is dating someone else. When Evelyn ditches her boyfriend her match maker business suffers. She appeals to her best “friend” Rhett to help her match making credibility by agreeing to a make-believe marriage. Rhett is already falling in love with Evelyn and hopes she will have the same feelings. But can you just change over from make believe to real? Both have insecurities and those get in the way. By the time Evelyn realizes that she does love Rhett they are getting a divorce. She must seek God’s guidance on how to make things right. Don’t miss this clean read from Liz Isaacson!
Evelyn needs a husband. Rhett is crazy about her. Will their make believe marriage become real? This one was a little different than what I am use to from this author – love her books. Their make believe marriage had some real aspects to it that bothered me. I don’t want to give away spoilers. I really liked the ending and how Evelyn wow me over. Rhett had me from the beginning.
The start of a new series called Seven Sons Ranch in Three Rivers Romance series and I want to read the rest of this series. This is Rhett Walker and Evelyn Foster’s story these two will have a lot of things in their pasts to overcome before they get their happy ending. I want to read the next book. A story that once I started reading I was not putting it down. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another great one by Liz. I am anxiously awaiting the others in the series.
A sweet, clean romance.
Lately, I have read a number of fake to real marriage plot, but this one is a bit different. In this one, Evelyn is the one seeking a fake marriage to save her business and in walks her friend Rhett who helps her out. Now came the challenges and big problems. I agree with one of the reviewers I can see this as a Hallmark movie. Liz Isaacson has never disappointed me I love her writing and how she deals with her characters. I highly recommend this one it was great. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Just simply a wonderful start to a new series. Loved the easy to read book, the characters and the friends to lovers story line. Very good book.
Another good story by Liz Isaacson. We return to Three Rivers in this one and it was a lot like coming home.
I wasn’t sure what to think of Evelyn. She was just so wishy-washy throughout so much of the book that I couldn’t understand how Rhett could be so patient with her. Rhett was a sweetheart from the get-go.
I’m sure the rest of the brothers will be finding their HEA’s also. Especially Jeremiah, please? Or is Liz going to make us wait and give us his story last? And what about the three brothers that did not move out to the ranch? Will they be joining the four that are there already? So much anticipation!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
A great wonderfully well written fake romance, that is an excellent standalone beginning of a new series. This amazing storyline does a great job of setting the scene for more amazing romances while keeping me addicted page after page with Rhett and Evelyn’s journey. Its has drama, angst, love, and fantastic surprise twists. The characters are well developed, interesting, have build a great relationship. I was on the edge is she would and if how she would commit to a HEA. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC and can’t wait for another brother’s or sisters story.
Loved this story and the back story to get to present day, can not wait to read about the rest of the brothers and how they find their happiness. So many emotions in this story, loved that they both used their faith to help them make decisions and also that it was not just about them but there families also. Loved the friends to lovers aspect of the story also, of course I have loved all of books that read, I was so happy to revisit Three Rivers again.
