Raina is reeling from the shock of seeing the only man she’s ever loved showing up at work one day, his new boss in tow. Ice is all about plants on a grand scale, whereas Reyes appears to be all about denial.

Reyes comes home to San Diego with one of his’ bosses, Ice. She is interested in some plants for the pool area on the compound. Reyes’ family runs a large nursery business so he was ideal to ask to help her. Reyes had not returned home for two years as his former fiancee is the accountant for the nursery as well as best friend to his mother. Raina is a good friend to Reyes and the twin to his ex-fiancee (Reana) while she also works at the nursery. Way back when, both Reyes and Raina were attached to each other but Reana was jealous and got his attentions first.
These two have to deal with the past, of him being engaged to her sister, as well as two deaths. There was a lot of drama between Reyes and Raina with their family members. The intrigue into who was the murderer was a little dicey and could have gone a couple of different ways but I was able to figure it out this time!!! Yay to me.
It was nice to see Reyes get his HEA with someone that he should have had a long time ago but like he said in the book things happen for a reason and they were two totally different people years ago.
I loved having the dual POV. Being able to see inside Raina’s thoughts into how she was dealing with being attracted to someone for them to fall for her sister and how she is adjusting now was priceless. I really felt for her and she was much more relatable to because of it.
There is a bedroom scene with some detail, it was not overly graphic like some books can be. While you don’t have to read any of the prior books to read this, I would start at the beginning to really understand the business and closest of the characters.
In this latest edition to the Heroes For Hire series, Dale takes Reye’s home. While family is loved and important, it does come with some major complications and issues. Baggage, one would rather avoid than confront head on at times.
An opportunity to further renovate the Legendary Security compound gives Reye’s a moment to reconsider and decide that it’s time to face the past, so he can move on. Even this is fraught with drama and intrigue. To make the plot a little more interesting and complex – Dale gives you the love interest of twins… one an ex, the other someone you care for deeply. Twists and turns are going to be found all through out this story as emotions, drama, tension all unravel.
A wonderful story from start to finish, that is easy to read during a quiet weekend. Very strong characters that need to work through emotional angst, pain, deceptions, and tragedy. Beautifully written. While the relationship could have been developed further inside the storyline… sometimes you need to work through the past and put that to rest in order to move forward.
If you love page-turning intrigue, with a romance that just needed their right time and circumstances to happen, secrets exposed – Dale Mayer delivers with REYE’S RAINA. When trouble and suspicion start to rise and the intent to harm escalates – it will be up to Reyes’s to come through and keep Raina close and safe.
Dale also leaves the reader with a few clues of what’s coming next for Dezi… another diamond waiting to be uncovered. Even some new people going the Legendary team. I look forward to reading.
Every book this author comes up with a new rescue! In this one, a murder mystery involving the hero of his love’s sister. At first he is a suspect, but quickly is cleared. Raina accepting him when he had been engaged to her sister was very interesting. I did enjoy Ice’s involvement, a recurring character I love. Action romance and suspense all in one.

I am behind on this series so I definitely have catching up to do. But this book came up so here I am at the most recent of this series instead of the beginning.
Ice has decided to add plants to the landscape around the pool at the compound. To accomplish this she recruits Reyes whose family owns a large nursery in California.
Now Reyes hasn’t been home in two years, not since he broke off with his fiancé.
Nothing says welcome home more than having a conversation with your ex’s sister in the middle of the store, and having your ex walk in and slap you.
Reana is a volatile woman, much like Reyes’ mother. Women who control with anger and abusive behavior. Her twin sister Raina is the opposite and frequently finds herself apologizing for Reana’s behavior.
To Reyes’ surprise, his mother steps in to quell the scene unfolding. However the lies Reana has told everyone will soon haunt him.
Things settle and Ice and Reyes go to her father’s for the night and Raina heads home. Her mother interrupts her late with calls regarding her sister.
After several of those calls Raina calls Vince, friends with both her and Reyes. He offers to check on Reana and also calls Reyes and sets up a breakfast date.
A suspect now in a murder, Reyes calls Ice who smooths things over a bit, but the circumstances of the initial interview have consequences that complicate everything more.
Reyes becomes Raina’s sole support as her world falls apart, and he finds he can’t deny his feelings for her any longer. Pleasantly surprised to find those feelings are reciprocated.
Plenty of emotion, suspense and family drama all around as this tale unfolds with just enough heat.
First of all this was such a sweet couple who got a second chance they both deserved. While trying to not give spoilers, I must say I found myself physically reacting with dislike to certain characters in the book. I always enjoy a story when Ice is active in it and this one did not disappoint. I think the theme of each guy getting his girl and their names either rhyme and they share the same first letter is just so cute and quirky. Overall this story delivers on the romance the tension and drama with the families involved. It is a great addition to the group of men who deserve happy beginnings.

Reyes’ s family owns a gardening business that was supposed to be his future. However, instead, Reyes joins the Navy and becomes a SEAL. When, he retires, he works for Legendary Sacrifices. This is a group where retired SEALs are able to continue to use the expert skills they learned as a SEAL. Since this group is based in Texas, Reyes has not been home in years.
When Reyes does return home, he sees his ex-fiance, Reana, for the first time since the end of their engagement. When Reana sees Reyes she slaps him. Although no one understands why she does this, the slap does not bother Reyes. At least, it doesn’t until Reana’s body is found the next day. Then the police immediately consider him the prime suspect for her murder.
Twins Raina and Reana grew up with Reyes. Reyes and Raina decide to join forces to investigate Reana’s murder. Raina wants to find out who murdered her twin sister, and Reyes needs to prove his innocence to the police.
From that moment on, the author creates non-stop action that doesn’t let up until the last chapter when we find out who killed Reana. This roller coaster ride includes many secrets, many suspects and even another death.
As I was reading this book, I was reminded of the adage, “You can’t judge a book by its cover.” As Raina and Reye are investigating Reana’s death, they discover that they really did not know Reana at all. Depending on who they interviewed, Reana seemed to display a different personality for each of them. This made it even more difficult to find out who killed Reana and why.
This book is a quick read and is jam-packed with lots of action and intrigue.
Reyes’s Raina is another entertaining book in the Heroes for Hire series. Once again, Dale Mayer created original, interesting characters and a story that keeps the reader guessing right up to the end.
Reyes and Raina both have introverted, calm and sensitive personalities, all the while remaining determined and clear on their life objectives.
The author skillfully surrounds them with a cast of loud, mercurial characters, and the result is a highly-emotional, fast-paced and captivating story.
The plot flows easily, not dwelling too much on the dramatic circumstances that surround the protagonists, but not trivializing them either.
The side characters are also vividly depicted. Their often theatrical behaviors create many cameo situations that give accent to the main storyline, some of them very entertaining.
Needless to say, other members of the Legendary Security team make welcome appearances, led by an exceptionally competent, warm-hearted and masterfully depicted Ice.
Overall, Reyes’s Raina is a surprisingly fresh and original story, a pleasant and easy novel that will satisfy Dale Mayer faithful readers and entice new ones.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Opinions and comments are solely my own.
Reyes liked his job in Texas and he liked his boss, Ice. That’s why he ended up going back to his hometown, to his family’s business to help her select some plants. He was also returning to a place with bad memories of the last time he was there. However, no matter how much Reyes had dreaded going back home, he never imagined that he would be accused of murder.
Raina and Reyes had been friends for a long time. She worked for his family’s business and her twin was Reyes’s ex-fiance. She is just as shocked as everyone else when her sister is murdered and even more shocked that Reyes is a suspect. They work together to try find the real killer.
Another outstanding book by Dale Mayer as Reye’s returns to his hometown on a plant buying mission with Ice and comes face to hand with his ex who ends up murdered.
While Reyes knew the truth about his breakup with Reana she had spun a different tale which she switched which one was found in bed with another woman.
This book is filled with murder, death, mystery and surprises of different kinds the best one is that Reyes and Raina find their way to each other. And the worst one being Raena had played a brother against a sister with no concern for anyone but herself, as usual and one of them ended up losing their life.
Reyes had finally gotten his mother to take a look at her volatile actions and how they could and had harmed others as well as how her actions had played a part in the death of her friend and Raina’s mother.
This was a good book. It definitely had some heartbreaking moments especially for Raina. Poor Raina her life is turned completely upside down when Reyes makes his way back to his home town after a few years. Things are turned into a tailspin and Reyes will help Raina get all the answers she seeks. I was kept on the edge of my seat as the characters investigated the murder. Raina and Reyes deserve a HEA with the families they were born into. They deserve happiness and peace.
I was kindly provided this book as an ARC; in exchange for my honest review. This is book 17 of 18 in the Heroes for Hire series. This book centers around Reyes and Raina. Reyes is a newer hire for the Texas based Heroes for Hire paramilitary group run by Levi and Ice.
Reyes Drere came from a long line of gardeners. When Reyes joined Legendary Securities after serving eight years as a Navy SEAL he’d knew he wasn’t going home to work for the family business since his ex-fiancé Reana worked for the business as an accountant and he had no interest in seeing her. Reana’s twin sister Raina (such silly names, reminds me of Rick and Dick Ortega, twins from my high school days)… was a good friend to Reyes that he’d always had a “thing” for, but he had no idea how to approach her even two years after his split from Reana.
I’ll be honest, I think that this wonderful series has hit its peak and now seems almost like the “sparkle” has left. I had zero problem putting the book down (which is completely different from the norm for Ms. Dale’s books). It’s all been done/seen before. The heat level was minimal and almost seemed like an afterthought in order to still qualify as a “romance.” This story was more of a murder/mystery than the expected hot alpha military romance expected. It is well written (a few editing issues (like plain vs. plane), but these may have been resolved by time the book was published.
You don’t really have to read previous books in the series to understand this story, but it may help so you know who the characters are that are referenced. I think this series needs to come to a beautiful end – say with Ice and Levi finally getting married?!
Reyes family have been the go to for gardening plants and supplies for years. Reyes feeling odd man out although loving his family and business, joins the Navy and becomes one of the elite a Navy Seal. Raina her sister Riana are twins and although they look a like they are not. Throw in Ice, a murder and the rest well I cannot say without giving a spoiler and I do not do that. These books and this series is addictive. You are always waiting on the next one.
You can never ever go wrong with a Dale Mayer book. Her writing skills are extraordinary. There is nothing she cannot write and make you want to read more.

Reyes’s Raina by Dale Mayer
Heroes for Hire Series Book 17
Reyes Drere is heading home for the first time in two years. After is fiancée had cheated on him…he left and never looked back. He was traveling with Ice to look at plants for around the pool area…and his family had a garden center. Should be an easy enough trip.
Raina Woodcroft was the quiet one. Her twin sister, Reana, was always louder, prettier, more noticed. She always went after what she wanted…like Reyes. Whereas, Raina held back and lost out. But now he’s back for a visit and it’s good to see her old friend.
Looking at plants wasn’t as easy as planned. Not when Reyes ends up in the middle of a murder investigation. Another good story in the Heroes for Hire series.

Book 18 in the series and going strong. All books can be read stand alone, but for the full flavor you should read the previous. Kind of like eating potato chips and adding the dip. This one was slightly different in it was home grown, life happening, i.e murder. The mystery is in who did it, since we know it was our man Reyes and a long the way a surprise pops. I had a hard time with Reyes mom and trying to understand the relationship between his parents. Raina’s Them I realized I have seen people like that in real life. There is our alpha male, our strong heroine, romance and murder!
Each of Dale Mayers book introduces people and/or events that can show there is hope, there is happily ever after, there is possibility in life. Thank you Dale Mayer and Booksprout! All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited
Suspense mystery romance definitely one of my favorite genres and this book didn’t disappoint, I devoured it in just a few hours and in one sitting.
The mystery, the murder got me hooked from the first chapter and since then I can’t stop.
This one is Reyes’s time to find love, and when he’s back to his hometown he definitely didn’t expect to find love there, especially with so many reasons why he left that place years ago still there. Messy past, crazy ex- fiance, family affair, mixed with murder, oh yeah this book has intriguing interesting story, although there’s not much actions as I wanted to, the mystery and the sweet love definitely made up for it.
If you love suspense romance, I think you’ll love this one.

What as meant to be a simple trip back home to see his family and help Ice get some plans for the pool area turns into murder with Reyes being prime suspect. While Reyes and the gang try to work out who the killer is we find out along with his family what all really went down to cause Reyes and Reana to break up along with unraveling they mystery of Reana was soo overbearing. There is plenty of mystery, twists and revelations that there was no way I was moving until I got to the end!

When Raina’s twin sister Reana turns up murdered, the prime suspect is Reyes – even though he’s just returned to town. As they investigate the murder, it seems that Reana might not be the person that Raina thinks. Glad to Ice making an appearance in the last couple of books.
This book has plenty going on to help maintain your interest. Suspense, drama, mystery, secrets and romance are all cleverly blended into the well written story. I did like both characters but to be 100% honest neither one would make my favorite list. I’m not exactly sure why. Could it have been his attitude?, the fact that he was engaged to her twin at one time?, or simply the fact that I couldn’t let go of the fact that I felt she was his second choice? It was probably a combo of all three.
Such an emotional and amazing read. My heart broke and I cried ugly tears. A beautifully written book. A definite one click.
Seventeen Heroes for Hire books so far, and all snowflakes – each unique and beautiful in its own way. Reye’s Raina addresses the perceptions and perspectives of twins who look alike but have vastly different personalities and appetites. Raina is sweet, down-to-earth, and relates more easily to the plants she nurtures than to people. Her sister Reana is manipulatively outgoing and has a string of past suitors. In fact, Reyes had been her fiancé until two years ago. In the aftermath, Reyes kept Reana’s secret that made him realize he would never have a successful relationship with her, while Reana spread it around that it was Reyes who had ruined their relationship by cheating on her. She let people think he still wanted to be with her. Thus, when she is murdered, Reyes and Raina work together to prove his innocence and find out what really happened to her sister.
