In this delightfully enchanting bedtime story for 3 to 5-year-olds, we meet Rexy, who’s a friendly dinosaur with a brand new shiny bike. He loves it very much because it was a gift from his mom and dad. He enjoys riding it around their yard. Rexy soon meets his new neighbor Trixie, a little girl dinosaur. Trixie wants to ride Rexy’s new bike but Rexy doesn’t want her to. Rexy’s parents guide him … but Rexy doesn’t want her to.
Rexy’s parents guide him and teach him how satisfying it is to be generous.
- The main moral of this charming story is about how good it feels to share and be generous
- A beautifully illustrated picture book with wonderful watercolor images throughout
- A perfect way to introduce your child to the idea that sharing is caring
- As an extra bonus, we offer coloring sheets of the characters, too
Little Rexy learns that it’s fun to share, and he and Trixie become best friends sharing their toys together.
A beautifully-told bedtime story that will capture the hearts of the young and old, alike!

Rexy the Dinosaur is so excited because he has just received a new tricycle. He carefully puts on a helmet before riding. Rexy hears someone calling. It is Trixie, his new neighbor. She asks if she could touch his bike, but Rexy pulls it away. When she asks for a ride, Rexy becomes even more upset. Rexy jumps on his bike and rides away, but he soon rides over a nail and receives a flat tire. Trixie runs home very upset. Rexy’s parents are upset with his behavior but explain that being greedy is not a good thing. It is much better to share with friends.
The illustrations are reminiscent of pages colored by a child and the print is large and legible. I would recommend this book as an excellent choice for a read-aloud or bedtime story. Dinosaurs coupled with lessons about kindness and good manners are a good combination for readers in the three to six-year-old age range.
I got this book to read to my 3-1/2 year-old grandson when he visits since he likes reading and loves dinosaurs. He loved the book. It wasn’t too long to keep his attention and it wasn’t too short. He especially liked that the bike in the book looked like his old tricycle still in the yard and we had been talking about sharing earlier, as he doesn’t particularly like the idea of sharing. He also really liked the illustrations. Nice and bright with simple enough pictures to tell the story. I liked the book because it was easy to read, meaning the letters were not too small, so we could both view the pages without me having to pull the book closer to me to see. No matter how good the book is, if the letters are too small or on a dark background, I won’t be reading it to him. This book was printed great. I also like a good book with a lesson to it, so afterwards we were talking about “sharing is caring.”
Got this at the perfect time for my grandkids as we are talking about sharing. With all the new toys from Christmas sharing is a difficult lesson. They learn so quickly. We’ve read it several times.
My granddaughter enjoyed this book.
good way to explain sharing n caring:)
Grandkids read it by themselves
Teaches a good lesson.
My girls really got into the story.
Cute
Rexy the Dinosaur and a New Bike was pretty clearly written to get a point or lesson across to children, and it does that, but some of the points made do not really follow clearly from the situation at hand – or the message seems to be a little convoluted. It’s not a bad book to read to a child whom you want to teach about showing kindness or mercy, but there may be even better options out there. I certainly wouldn’t discourage reading it to your child, but I would also look for others as well.
My 5 year old grandson likes to read this over and over!
the trouble with alot of childrens books is the lettering is too small to read and no way to increase the font,,all the while trying to show the child the illustrations. This book has it all,, great book, great size letters..
A good lesson sharing and making friends.
My granddaughter and I enjoyed the characters and lessons taught in this story. And the illustrations added greatly to the fun of the story.
I love that it teaches my kids about sharing their toys.
Read it to my 3 year old grandson. He loved it.
My 6 year old grandson enjoyed this book and I appreciated the lesson it gently explained
I liked the story and illustration. The font was not easy for a learning reader, too busy.
The father is the book tells Rexy to always wear his helmet when riding his bicycle, but there is only one illustration of Rexy actually wearing his helmet.
My 3 year old likes it and helps her understand sharing.
