I’m a SUCKER for a Charleigh Rose romance, and REWRITE THE STARS got me excited for all the right reasons. It’s romantic, and wonderfully written–Charleigh (I call her Charlie and she hates it) is so damn talented, and I’m so excited about this latest release.
My first from Charleigh Rose and I loved it. I’m hooked on her writing, especially after reading the prologue to Bad Habit. In Rewrite the Stars, Evangeline and Sebastian are two polar opposite souls fated to be together after meeting one eventful night. Evan is the spoiled rich high school princess who’s life has been turned upside down and Sebastian is the carnival bad boy with a cursed family history. Through trials and tribulations, this was a ride I never wanted to end. Well done!
Oh wow, what did Charleigh Rose do to my poor little heart … She created another story that instantly drew me in and I couldn’t stop reading! In this book, we got two heroes with a lot of emotional baggage and a feeling that a happy ending is not in their cards. So what must they do to change their destiny? Rewrite the stars!
We meet Evangeline as a high school student from a good home that is somewhat sheltered by her parents. She leads a prosperous life, but it seems to her to be fake and boring. After a small rebellion, Evangeline lands at the carnival, where a young man catches her attention. And this young man is Sebastian McAllister – a member of the Sons of Eastlake who perform on the bikes and travel with the carnival. Evan has no idea that this day will change her life forever … The unfortunate events of that night mean that everything Evan knew so far turns into dust. After one year, the girl runs across mysterious Seb again. Unfortunately, this time she’s not so happy to see him because the events from last year left a lot of disgust. However, the attraction is still strong and Evan can’t deny the chemistry that connects her with Seb. When her everyday life finally surpasses her, the girl decides to join the carnival crew.
I LOVE Evangeline and Seb! They are both great characters! Evan is one of those strong heroines that we adore immediately. Seb, in turn, is the type of bad boy who has a big heart under the facade of broody attitude and mystery. The sexual tension between the two of them could be cut with a knife, and the expectation that they would eventually give their feelings a go was a sweet torture.
The world that the author has surrounded the story of this book is simply FABULOUS. In my imagination I still saw flashing lights, colorful carousels and sugar candy stands. Something beautiful!
Rewrite the Stars is by far my No. 1 from Charleigh Rose. And this is quite funny, because this idea appears with each of her books;) This only proves that the author is still improving her writing and that we can expect next bestsellers in the future 🙂
I really hope that the other members of Sons of Eastlake will also get their books! Their characters intrigued me very much and I would be happy to learn how their fates will go.
If you haven’t read Rewrite the Stars yet – I highly recommend!
My god, this cover totally had me drooling, what a gorgeous guy and I knew instantly that I had to read this, and then the teasers we were getting, totally had me panting with wanting to get the whole story like NOW!
The story line was phenomenal. It’s one of those books that you start and from the first page, you are downright hooked and when you’re nearing the end, you don’t want it to end.
It was a very different book, with the whole carnival theme but it definitely was a damn great book. The characters were just so extraordinary and they were such awesome characters.
Evan and Sebastian, together they were explosive and such wonderful characters that you just knew the they fit together no matter what.
Charleigh Rose has the most magnificent stories to write and she’s definitely one that I will continue to read.
Rewrite the Stars by Charleigh Rose is such a beautiful and emotional steamy romance read that will have you glued from start to finish. I love drama, angsty, passionate emotional type reads and Ms. Rose’s latest is everything that a reader could want. Its a red- hot NA romance that will knock your socks off.
The love story between Evangeline Thorne and Sebastian McAllister is one that is enthralling. Evan comes from a very rich family that has a very good reputation but she is so bored with her life and looks for more. The “more” happens when she collides with Sebastian in a carnival where Seb works in a stunt scene. The sparks are instantaneous and between them a life-changing encounter is shared which unfortunately doesn’t end well. Fast forward 2 years later , Evan is 18 and she wants to escape her life. She ends up getting a job working in the carnival and the sparks between her and Sebastian flare back up and soon are sparklingout of control.
Their journey of love will have lots of pit stops and also lots of rollercoaster emotions. Will they finally get their HEA ? Only way to find out is to read and find out!
My Rating: 4.7 stars *****
Oh my gosh this book and all the damn feels. My heart can’t take the beating it was just given, damn it.
When I came across this beauty I knew it was something I just HAD to read. It intrigued me and boy, I sure as hell wasn’t ready for what the book dealt out that’s for sure.
I can honestly admit I’ve never once read a book that involves the lives of people in a carnival so this beauty popped my cherry. I’m super fucking glad it was my first.
Seb is an asshole, a sexy, loveable asshole. Believing in a family curse has him closed off from love and anything that’s associated with it with the exception of family.
Evan is beautiful, independent but closed off. After an accident has her life falling apart everything changes for her, she’s dragged through a horrible couple year but still remains strong. After spending one night at the carnival she’s addicted and can’t seem to stay away.
Watching them together, their story playing out is intriguing. The ups, the downs, everything just fits perfectly into their story. It’s happy and heartbreaking and oh my god SO. MANY. FEELS.
When that ending rolled around my heart shattered and WTF???? WHY WOULD YOU EVEN DO THAT? WHY PLAY WITH MY EMOTIONS LIKE THAT!
This is my first read from this author and if her other work is anything like this I see myself quickly becoming addicted. This book was exactly what I never knew I needed. Just wow.
I LOVE the story Charleigh Rose gives us in, Rewrite the Stars! She brings us a YA story, but different than yet another coming of age tale. The events that unfold in Evan’s life following her unique introduction to Sebastian’s world as well as his family’s perceived curse draw us in and never lets go.
I truly enjoyed reading this book. Absolutely. The characters, their interactions, the suspense and intrigue, the unique YA storyline, the heat. All great. However, the end was a tad bit rushed. I loved it so much I couldn’t help but wish for a little more. I did enjoy the dual POV epilogue, however wanted a bit more of the previous final scenes. I wouldn’t call this a negative attribute to the book, just a fan wanting the story to never end!
Ps can I put in a desperate plea for Eros’s story Charleigh?! I looooove him and can tell his story would be alllll the feels. All of the Sons of Eastlake really but I’m begging for Eros for sure. Xoxo
“I don’t think we ended up here just for you to die.” she whispers. “What if it’s already in the stars? You can’t change fate.” “Then we’ll rewrite the stars.”
An almost ethereal, completely entrancing story that held me captive from the very beginning. Fate really did play the part over, and over again between Evan and Sebastian, and I couldn’t look away from the minute I started reading. Dangerous, mysterious, and closed-off Sebastian seems untouchable, and watching Evan slowly break down his walls was nothing short of magnificent. It truly, truly took my breath away. They’re a confusing tangle of fear, magnetism, and snarky banter, and I loved every second, including a whole cast of characters that really brought it all together perfectly. The end had me clutching my kindle, white-knuckled, breathing in gasps, and close to tears, but all in all, an absolutely riveting, all-encompassing, couldn’t-put-it-down, original, refreshing, and not-to-be-forgotten-anytime-soon must read. This one is going on the Top Reads of 2018 without a doubt!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!
“I love this flawed, beautiful, maybe-cursed McAllister boy. And even though he doesn’t say it with words, I know he loves me too.”
~~~Erika, Book Haven Book Blog
This is angsty and darker book. I wouldn’t really say it’s an enemies to lovers romance, because they aren’t exactly enemies. They barely know one another, but they don’t exactly like each other (at least in the beginning.) It was a chance encounter that had a devastating ending. A year later, another chance encounter. A year after that…. well, that time it was planned. That’s when she (Evan) decides to take matters into her own hands. This story is primarily set in the carnival world. And it feels just like what you’d expect a traveling ‘circus’ to feel. Nitty gritty. Sexy Sebastian get’s plenty of attention from the ladies, but aside from using them for sexual release, he has no need for them. Including Evan. He has his reasons, and despite him being a bastard, his reasons are far more noble. The cast of characters are really well played and fit so perfectly in the setting. Evan, being the odd ‘man’ out… being a privileged ‘princess.’ The Hero and Heroine both have things in their life that threaten to break them, if they allow. They are both fighting for something in addition to fighting for each other.
The timeline for this book takes place over the course of 2 plus years. It does have some violence, sex and drug use (or mention of.) While it may be considered YA because of the characters ages, it does have a more adult theme. It’s well written and hard to put down. There are a few surprises/twists throughout to keep you on your toes.
~~4 EXHILARATING STARS! ~~
“The most dangerous men are the ones with nothing to lose.”
Have you ever wondered what the carnival life is REALLY like? Well, you are about to find out because REWRITE THE STARS by Charleigh Rose gives us an entrancing behind the scenes glimpse of the “funnest” place on earth!! So buckle in tight because you are about to embark on a roller coaster ride that you won’t soon forget!
THE STORY:
This is the story of a beautiful rich girl named Evangeline Thorne who despite the illusion of having a picture-perfect life hides a world of pain and discontentment behind her dazzling smile. One night, after a nasty fight with her parents, she sneaks into a carnival and becomes hopelessly transfixed by Sebastian McAllister, the ruggedly gorgeous motorcycle stuntman who performs the “Globe of Death” stunt with his Sons of Eastlake crew before a rousing crowd.
But when she finds herself caught up in a heap of trouble, she comes face to face with the broody daredevil who saves the day…. and then whisks her away for a night of adrenaline pumping adventure which culminates in her first ever kiss! Spellbound by the starry-eyed blonde with the pouty lips, Sebastian couldn’t resist taking her for a ride on the wild side. But their magical encounter goes up in a puff of smoke when he discovers she’s jailbait and the night ends in complete and utter disaster!
However, Fate brings them together a year later when the carnival arrives in town and the Sons of Eastlake unexpectedly come crashing back into Evan’s life. And while there are still sparks crackling between the combustible duo, their reunion is also charged with fury and hostility after what went down during the best—and worst night—of both their lives. Nevertheless, they cannot deny their magnetic pull and yet another stolen moment between them ends in heartache when the carnival moves on to the next town late that night.
Then everything changes when Evan turn 18. With her home life still one big hot mess, she decides to skip town with the traveling carnival and sweet talks the crew into giving her a job. Painfully cognizant of the fact that his future is tainted by a family curse, Bastian dashes Evan’s hopes when tells her in no uncertain terms that he is not interested in playing the role of besotted boyfriend to a spoiled princess looking for a whirlwind summer adventure!
But even though this dangerously sexy alpha does everything in his power to warn her away there is just something about this sweet, sassy, alluringly innocent girl with the sad blue eyes that bewitches his heart. Inflames his desires. And rouses his EVERY PROTECTIVE INSTINCT! Is their love forever doomed or can these two stars crossed lovers find a way to rewrite their destiny?
MY MUSINGS:
Charleigh Rose captivated my heart once again in REWRITE THE STARS! This hypnotically addictive romantic extravaganza entertains and enthralls from start to finish! It’s packed with heart swelling feels, sizzling heat and thrilling adventure, and I absolutely adored the traveling carnival backdrop. Really innovative, right? And through the sheer majesty of her luminous prose, she takes us to dizzying heights and soul crushing lows amid the bright lights, fun and folly, and grit and grime of the carnival world! And the motley crew of “carnie freaks” were FANTASTIC, infusing the story with so much drama, wit, vibrancy and excitement!
As far as I’m concerned the rich girl/poor boy trope NEVER gets old, especially in this case where Ms. Rose puts an innovative carnie/townie twist on the timeless storyline! Sebastian and Evangeline come from two different worlds, but all that falls away during their magical encounters, which are positively pulsating with red hot lust, pent up yearning and sparks galore. These two have a chemical reaction to each other from the very start and their simmering attraction just intensifies the more time they spend together. Due to their circumstances, this is a slow building romance with a lot of push-pull but when their passion finally explodes it’s ELECTRIFYING!
Who doesn’t swoon over a broody, fiercely loyal, wickedly charming bad boy with a heart of gold? Well, Sebastian is all that and then some! Despite his devil may care attitude and perilous line of work, he is haunted by devastating secrets and carrying the weight of the world on his broad, muscular shoulders. As such, he refuses to form attachments. What’s the point, since it’s only a matter of time before the family curse wreaks havoc on his life?
But despite his best efforts, there is one exception to the rule. Evangeline. The beautiful, feisty, wounded hearted girl who brings bursts of color into his world and brings out the chivalrous knight in him. He’s tries so hard to suppress his soul burning attraction because he feels he’s living on borrowed time, but some things—like fate and destiny– are just out of his control! And for a jaded tortured soul who always believed that love and hope are mere illusions, if anyone can make a believer of him it’s Evan!
As for Evangeline, gah, my heart broke for all she’d been through and how she tries to put on a tough girl act to shield herself from the pain. But with her leather jacket wearing daredevil protector—and her new carnie friends cheering her on–she can finally FEEL and fly free. I adore how Bastian is a refuge from her chaotic life, and how with the ever-present safety net of his strong, sheltering arms, she truly flourishes!
Sighhh… despite a plethora of turmoil and heartache throughout, and a sinister traitor within the mist who wreaks havoc on their lives, these two soulmates have the kind of enduring love to go the distance.
Though to be honest, it got a bit dicey at times, and when the drama escalates, I had to knock a star off the rating because I was really disappointed with the way that Evan automatically jumped to the worst conclusions about Bastian based on circumstantial evidence. I mean actions speak louder than words, and after EVERYTHING he did to prove what a noble-hearted, standup up guy he was, her sudden lack of faith in him felt contrived, undermined the beautiful buildup of trust they’d established, and left a sour taste in my mouth. And imo this unnecessary added drama served NO PURPOSE to an already tumultuous love story.
But yay, I am thrilled to report that the author more than made up for that small misstep with a SHOW-STOPPING grand finale that completely stole my breath!
BOTTOM LINE:
From start to finish, REWRITE THE STARS was the BOMB!!
A FUN-FILLED MUST READ!
Drama, deception, and secrecy set in the backdrop of a traveling carnival with a sexy stuntman. Oh yeah!!
Yesssss!!!! I was suffering from a severe book hangover when I started this one…. Sebastian and Evan pulled me right out of it and right into their world so quickly! Just one day was all it took for me to read this book and develope a NEW book hangover!!! And the other characters are pretty fascinating also. I’m hoping we get to read about His. Eros, Lathan and Tres in the future! The whole story really got me… I started crying in my car while reading it… And it made me late to work. . I love them. I love this book. Charleigh Rose killed it with these characters… I hope to read more about them for a while! Go buy it now!!!
Charleigh Rose, what have you done to me?! My heart is forever touched by this story, and by Sebastian and Evan whose young lives were shaped by the selfish choices of those who should have put them first. Addiction, depression, bad parenting…these two have seen it all and are stronger than most. I loved that Evan evolved into a spirited and empowered young woman as the book progressed. And sexy Sebastian, he had me from the first “she’s with me”.
Rewrite the Stars is a well executed and wildly imaginative romance. Set primarily in the less than glamorous world of a traveling carnival, it has a raw and real feeling that I loved. Everything about the story has an edgy tone…from Evan’s age and her gut-wrenching home life to Sebastian’s adrenaline filled world and his tragic family history. It’s a rollercoaster of angst and energy that I wanted to ride forever.
I hope to see more from the secondary characters, too. I feel like their stories would be just as amazing as this one.
I cannot tell you how much I love this book. Sebastian is a book boyfriend for sure! This one has just enough of everything. angst, heat and love, with a dash of faith and fate thrown in. If I go on anymore I will give away spoilers but I will say the title has everything to do with whats in the pages.
READ IT!!
::Sebastian and Evan::
I am such a huge Charleigh Rose fan. HUGE. I’m addicted to her writing, unique characters and all the steam she throws at you. I swear I never thought I would ever fall in love with a carnival-themed romance. But Charleigh blew away any expectations I had with this trope. It was a refreshing change and I had a blast living in the world of bright lights and the carnivals exhilarating environment.
I loved the broody hot mess that is, Sexy Sebastian and the intense sexual tension and fierce chemistry he shared with Evan. Their story was not easy and they face a several obstacles. It’s not all smooth sailing. But at the end they are rewriting their own story. I loved every second of this completely addictive, steamy read, including the whole cast of characters that really brought it all together perfectly. The end had me clutching my kindle and wrecked my heart. So be sure to read to the very end for Charleigh’s grand finale that stole my breath away
“…the first boy I ever kissed. I spent two years trying to find this feeling again…”
I fell in love with this book from the very beginning, I started Rewrite the Stars without knowing what to expect; just the title of this book tells you enough for you to dive in and get lost in a beautiful story about fate, love, curses and new beginnings.
Two years ago Evans life changed, she had everything a teenager could want; but one night she was drawn to the lights, the carnival…one step and she was lost in a new world she couldn’t even begin to understand, but she felt that she belonged there so, she took matter into her own hands.
Sebastian is one of the boys in the Sons of Eastlake, boys who risks their lives for the sake of entertainment; the carnival where they travel is full of myths, curses, and hidden truths. Sebastian knows his destiny is written in the stars and there is nothing and no one who can change that…even if he wants to with all he is.
Rewrite the Stars just got a spot on my forever in love list in Goodreads, this book is perfection!!!
I love pretty much everything Charleigh writes. Rewrite the Stars has everything I love about her River’s Edge series- we have complex characters who are nuanced, richly painted, and imperfect, we have a rich array of periphery characters that add to the story rather than detract, we have a deep spark that turns into a rich romantic connection (and some steamy physical ones), and a heartfelt, emotive new adult character evolution.
Yet, we also have a interesting a new premise- a carnival setting, characters who have impacted each other in unintended ways. It took me a bit longer to warm up to our characters- both because we’re trying to figure them out as they try to figure each other out and because it was harder for me to relate to their unique back stories, but the tension and connection builds and builds from an ember to an explosive flame, and I grew to love both Evan and Sebastian. Not to mention, like River’s Edge, I feel in love with the menagerie of side characters we get to know along the way and the unique family, world-within-a-world vibe of the carnival.
A complete standalone (and not sure if she has plans for more stories with these characters and this world), and a delicious, fun, and steamy read!
Evan finds her perfect life falling apart. She is pretending at school that her life is perfect but finds that she can’t stand who she pretends to be. She longs to break away from her imperfect façade of a life and she does just that by running away with Sebastian, motorcycle stunt rider with a traveling carnival. Sebastian is drawn to Evan but knows that he can’t have her. He believes that he is cursed and knows that she deserves better and more than a fleeting moment and that is all that he can offer.
This book is set in a traveling carnival and I LOVE IT. The backdrop to this story is so much fun. I absolutely loved reading about all the side characters and their roles within the carnival. I have said this before and I am sure that I will say it again but Charleigh is a master at the broken yet redeemable boy. Sebastian, bless his heart, believes that he has nothing to offer Evan and all he wants to do is give her the world so he is a giant jerk face to her. And you will love him in spite and because of his actions. But Evan, she doesn’t put up with his BS and she breaks down Sebastian’s walls and captures his heart. Let me tell you their journey is so captivating.
“What if it’s already in the stars? You can’t change fate.”
“Then we’ll rewrite the stars.”
I had a very hard time putting this book down. I devoured it one sitting. But not only will you fall in love with Sebastian and Evan, but you will fall in love with Sebastian’s cousins. And you will hope and pray and stalk Ms. Rose and beg her for the cousin’s books. This is another one of Charleigh’s books that I highly recommend.
This book gets all the stars! 5 stars
This was a different setting for a romance novel for me, and I loved it! At first, I was not sure about Evangeline (aka Evan), but she grew on me. She had such chemistry with Sebastian that I had to keep reading! Sebastian was everything! He was mysterious, broody, secretive, and I wanted to get to know him like Evan did. You may not believe his reason for not wanting/having a girlfriend, but he does so I felt for him. As I said, I wasn’t sure about Evan at first because she starts out young & still acts like it sometime even through the time jumps. I did eventually empathize with her, because she just wanted to be herself and be loved. Sebastian and Evan rewrote the stars of their destiny so they could be together, and I felt and loved every minute of it! This was my first Charleigh Rose, but it will not be my last!
I absolutely loved this book! Sebastian and Evan are such opposites and yet so similar that they play so well together. Sebastian is Rockstar hot as carnival stuntman. He is such a decent guy that even when he is pulling “normal” guy stuff and being closed off or hot then cold I fell in love with him. He is sweet in a caring understanding kind of way that is not at all sugary sweet but everything delicious wrapped in a dirty sweaty rough package. I understood his need to protect his own as well as care for Evans self-preservation. I found his character refreshing after reading so many bully type romances. I also really liked Evan. Her story and personality made me wish I could go back to 18. I lived vicariously through her and it was awesome.
I loved the story itself as well. The secondary characters helped set the scene so perfectly and I really really hope we get the other stunt guys stories. Especially Lathan who caught my eye straight away. Time moves quickly which means the story also moves and that I really appreciate. Not one part of this story dragged for me while it also provided enough detail and background that I understood everything that was going on. The details were there so I felt like I was in the story…hearing the music, feeling the beat, smelling the air. Awesome! Skipped were extended internal monologues I find unnecessary to understand and relate to the characters. Perfect!
