“I’m not so sure that I’m strong enough to take yet another blow to the heart.”Growing up, I’ve always lived on the wrong side of the tracks. I’m used to the stares, name calling, and disrespect. A tragic accident that leaves me short three of the only people I’ve ever loved, has me devastated enough to try to end my own life. Just when I think there’s no hope, I find a reason to live again, or … reason to live again, or four of them as a matter of fact. Lucas, Maverick, Teagan, and Goose. But what happens when those bonds are tested? I’m not so sure that I’m strong enough to take yet another blow to the heart. My name is Kendall Davis and what if my story doesn’t have a happy ending?
*This is the first book in a Contemporary Reverse Harem Trilogy.
*Recommended 17+ due to mature language and situations.

From the Author
Excerpt:
The rain steadily falls around us as we stand under the little canopy area. His hand is still at my elbow and I want nothing more than to lean into him. My eyes fall to my bus as it pulls away from the curb. Tears pool in my eyes and streak down my face at the thought of my now miserable walk home.
Lucas uses his other hand to pull my chin up to face him. His eyes roam over my face like he’s trying to figure out how to fix the white trash ruin that I am, but he has no idea just how impossible that would be. People are staring, and I couldn’t give two shits as Lucas locks eyes with me. His flicks down to my lips and back up again.

Reviving Kendall (White Trash Trilogy #1) by Brandy Slaven
I received this book from a friend.
SHUT UP!! #WhyChoose is why I LOVE RH!!! My friend Mary was all “DUDE you need these books in your life” and then she gifted them to me. HOLY HELLS BELLS!!! I sat and read 50% before I knew it. Kendall is so awesome and feisty and yet so broken and damaged. The guys IE Mav, Teagan, Goose/Grant and Lucas made my heart just beat so fast and so hard for each of them. Each guy is so different but such a needed part to make Kendall whole again.
Kendall is the only girl who has the strength and NERVE to take on these 4 different guys. “The Quad”, as she calls them, are sweet and hard headed but so in love with our girl. They are so confused and yet they can’t wait to try and make her theirs separately and as a group.
Kendall has had so much hardship losing her parents, her nana, her dying grandpa and her VanPelt brothers AKA her boyfriends. She is just living and dealing with a jealous rival named Derrick. Kendall has no idea why he hates her yet he won’t leave her alone.
The Quad comes to her restaurant and she is none to pleased at their come on so gives them the business!! She may live in a trailer park and everyone might THINK she is less than, but she lives by a certain code of honor.
As the story unfolds, we see the guys showing up and helping her out but individually stealing kisses and moments. When a fun trip to the mountains turns sour, Kendall turns her back and runs. When her crappy life gets eve worse, she is shut off to the world until her guys come back and refuse to leave her.
When the 5 decide to give things a try, we can see the stress of the unknown disappear. When the decide to openly claim each other as THEIRS, we can see the group becoming closer and tighter. I can’t wait to read the net book and have it downloaded to start right away!!!
Ok so where do I even begin. So I will first talk about the narration, since to me, this is the most important thing in terms of reviews for audiobooks. A narrator can either wreck the whole thing or elevate the story. I will say I have never listened to Riley Raye before and if I remove one character from Reviving Kendall she portrays, she is is my top 10 favorite narrators! I thought she brought life to Kendall and most of the quad. I will tell you that this audiobook is the first and only audiobook that has made me cry while listening. I am suuuper glad I wasn’t listening to this on my ride into work, I was a blubbering mess haha. I don’t want to give it away, but I almost experienced a loss like Kendall did and by sheer luck (my brother used all the hot water that morning), I was lucky enough to be home to help get my mom to the hospital in time. If I hadn’t been there, she wouldn’t have made it. So when that particular scene comes up and the emotion Riley gives in her performance, I couldn’t help bawling. It was amazing how she sucked me into that moment. Bravo, Riley; thank you for helping to bring this story to life. MY ONLY GRIPE was her portrayal of Grant/Goose. Like when I read the book, I didn’t imagine him having a higher voice and Riley makes him sound like a preteen who hasn’t gone through puberty yet haha, but I was able to get past it and I loved her portrayals of the other guys, I thought they were spot on (especially Mav and Lucas).
For the story, I love this book by Brandy Slaven. The rawness she includes, makes it feel like I am there, like I am experiencing those things. I loved everything about this book and I am so happy to have listened to it on audio as well. I couldn’t stop listening some days when I got home (I mostly listen while commuting) but there were some scenes I needed to get to the end of the chapter before I could do anything else haha. I think my favorite guys in the story were Lucas and Grant, but in the audio it was definitely Mav and Lucas haha. I loved that we got to see their first times with Kendall, some RH’s kinda skip over some but each guy is a piece of the puzzle/harem and needs to have that time with her and Brandy executed it amazingly. There are so many amazing characters in this story, you will fall for some of the side ones as well as Kendall and her quad (some of the siblings for sure!). Kendall has to overcome a lot of tough things as a teenager, some that no teenager should have to face alone, and the quad is there for her when she needs it. I thought it was nice to see how much they needed her as well. I can’t wait to see what happens on their next journey together post high school. Cannot wait for Book 2 to be on audio
Hooked from page one, this story I beautifully written and gave me a major case of the feels. I fell in love with Kendall from the start and really felt for her
Kendall does all she can to survive, school her job and her grampa keep her busy. She also has to put up with/deal with the bullies who are mean to her due to where she lives. She does not expect the quad to invade and take over her life, and she does not expect to fall in love again
I really enjoyed the feels that Kendall’s life gave me and her tragic past. The story deals with real issues and is so beautifully written I was loved. I absolutely loved this story and look forward to book two
Holy..wow.
This book was deliciously addicting. Yes, I had my problems with it, but Reviving Kendall managed to bring a bunch of feelings to the surface: frustration, awe, anger, happiness, you name it. Kendall is a girl from the trailer park. She’s poor, she’s bullied, and she’s had a pretty rough go at life for being so young. Finally, life decides to give her a break by allowing Lucas, Maverick, Teagan, and Goose into her life. Allowing her friendship… until it turns into more.
The MC, Kendall, refuses to be anybody but herself and is fiercely protective of those she loves.
My absolute favorite out of the four boys (I know, I know, I’m breaking the “why choose” rule), is Teagan. He’s funny, he’s energetic, and he’s totally in looove with Kendall. Next is our sweetheart, Lucas. He’s so caring with our MC, it melts my heart. If she told him to jump off of a bridge, he would do it with no hesitation, and no questions asked. One of the other heart-melters is Goose, the boy who’s vulnerable with hidden insecurities. This made me soften towards him considerably. Lastly, there’s Mav, the bloody sucker that was too rude and arrogant at times. Thank the gods he was able to steal my heart toward the end, just like his best friends.
This honestly would have been a 5 star review if it weren’t for Mav’s rude behavior through a good chunk of the book. The writing is fantastic. The characters, for the most part, are likable. And the story moved at a great pace. I’m certainly looking forward to the next in the series.
I will always be thankful to stumble upon this book.
This has everything I look for in a romance book and more! I adored our MC Kendall. She was flawed, but knew her worth. She was a little broken after experiencing such a terrible loss, but still held her head up. She didn’t take anyone bs which I really admired!
Our 4 love interest were also amazing. Lucas, Goose, Maverick, and Teagan each had distinct personalities, but it was obvious how close they were. I loved their friendship and their relationship with Kendall.
I adored this story! I can’t wait to see more from these characters and author.
When your BFF tells you that you need to read this book and then follows it up by gifting it to you. You read it and Holy crap on a cracker this was an awesome book. I’m telling you I jumped into this book and could not put it down. Seriously before I knew it I was almost done with the book and it was 1:30 in the morning.
What does a girl who goes from having a nice life with grandparents who love her and 3 yes 3 boyfriends to having her world turn upside down and inside out. Kendall lost her grandmother to cancer then she lost Brian, Will and Casey in a tragic car accident. Now she does what she has to do just to get through each day. She gets tormented in school, has to work to help pay the bills, and takes care of her gramps who has cancer. She has too much on her plate to worry about boys.
Kendall finds herself waiting on Teagan, Logan, Goose AKA Grant, and Maverick at the restaurant. They come on strong and she blows them off. Kendall works hard for what she has and refuses to take handouts. It takes some time for Kendall to let the walls down around her heart but when she does she finds something in each of the guys. When the guys realize what she means to them and figures out how to deal with the jealousy things really get heated.
There were so many favorites for me in this book. The dates these guys take her on had me swooning. Even though each date was different and rightfully so since each guy has different likes. I loved seeing them happy on the mountain trip but when things go wrong I was heartbroken. And I was balling when Kendall’s world once again got turned upside down and inside out. I have to say a side character, Lincoln Logan’s brother now holds a place in my heart but Mav walked away with it. I’m telling you I need to read the second book and I will probably have a hard time waiting for book three. Thank you Angie for gifting me this book.
A few of my favorites:
His eyes roam over my face like he’s trying to figure out how to fix the white trash ruin that I am, but he has no idea just how impossible that would be.
“Kendall, this is probably one of the hardest things that you will ever have to go through, but it will make you a better person for it. You just have to live. If for no other reason than for them. Live life to the fullest, just like you know that they would want you to.”
“Kendall, don’t make us late to class because I will come over there, drag you out and drive you to school in whatever you’re wearing.”
This book is phenomenal! The emotions in this story , man it has been a long time since a book has made me ugly cry and this did it. It has all the feels. I really like that it shows some of the real things hurts, jealousy, tempers, depression all the way up to complete happiness, through all the ups and downs that life can throw at you. I can’t wait to read the rest of this trilogy, I am also going to have to them in paperback form it is that good. Definitely a read over and over again book.
Wow! All the feels! This story made me cry in parts but also smile and root for Kendall. Kendall has experienced a lot of loss, my heart hurt for her. Kendall and the guys aren’t perfect, but I like how they talk things out and own their damage and their mistakes. I will definitely be looking for book 2.
