Their relationship changes again when Celia learns the devil takes care of his own. Edward Fasbender is my savior. From the ashes of who I once was, he is helping me to rise. He has a list of people who have wronged him. And now he’s adding names to that list. Names that I gave him. And we will have our revenge. Revenge is the third book in the Slay Quartet.
With each new chapter in Edward and Celia’s story, Laurelin Paige is taking Slay series to an impossible and incredible height. Slay: Revenge delves deep into the psyche of these absurdly complex yet brilliantly executed characters. And all the dark, ugly, suffocating, exhilarating and shocking emotions are going to come out. A stunning and overwhelming step towards an epic ending I cannot wait for.
Edward has brought Celia back to his London home but his mission is far from over. The mission of breaking Celia, tearing her defences apart and then rebuilt her into a better and stronger person. Vengence is still in forefront of his mind. Only the focus has shifted and his attention has spread to include everyone who has hurt Celia and made her into this damaged person. Celia is getting free from her shackles slowly and she needs Edward’s controlling way that is beyond her understanding. But she is unable to give in to him all the time and cannot agree with certain very critical decisions.
I don’t think I have had such a love-hate relation to any alphahole like I do with Edwards. His devotion and loyalty fascinates me. His dominating, possessive, controlling and arrogant attitude is the biggest turn on ever. His passion is a storm and the intensity of feelings for Celia is something extraordinary! But he infuriates me all the time and then Laurelin Paige will show his soft underbelly to make me cry in heartbreak! Celia’s evolution was equally sensational. I love how she maintains the fierce and fearless woman inside while battling the demons Edwards is making her face. They feed to each other’s darkness and needs. And isn’t it the most beautiful reading experience ever? The twists and turns made me bite my nails and literally stop breathing way too much. AND THAT ENDING? Oh I am sure you will curse at Laurelin a lot. This story is equal parts dangerous, seductive, angsty, mysterious and strangely romantic.
Slay series by Laurelin Paige is essentially a masterful mindgame. Each and every character is picked apart with such brutal grace. And I was taken to right inside the beautiful, mesmerising and sultry chaos. This is storytelling at it’s finest.
Received ARC for honest review
What can I say? Laurelin Slayed it yet again with this book, Slay 3, Revenge. Each book in this series, we see the layers of these characters, Edward and Celia, peel away. I never liked Celia, but I’m coming around. Edward is a seriously intense character that I’m still a little nervous about because he wants Revenge on anyone who wronged Celia. I will hold my breath in the next book because my favorite character, Hudson, might be in his crosshairs. I’m hoping for an intense, beautiful conclusion in the next book. I LOVE Laurelin’s story telling!
Revenge Is Sweet Or Will It Destroy You?
Celia has been broken down and now Edward is focusing on building her back up. They are back home in London and the two are working to establish their new norm.
Celia is coming to some conclusions about who she is and what she needs. Edward is right by her side helping her work through her past and accept her future. She needs to be controlled, yet she is resistant. Edward wants control but enjoys the challenge she presents.
And now that Celia is moving forward, Edward is ready to exact revenge on those that hurt her. The only problem is, Edward has a hard time drawing a line between getting justice and letting his thirst for revenge consume him.
Their love is complicated. Celia is willing to make concessions in their relationship but she wants the same from Edward. He struggles with giving up complete control. Some fights cannot be won. It will be up to each of them to decide how much they are willing to sacrifice to be happy.
I continue to enjoy their journey. Edward has finally shown how much he loves Celia. However, his struggles are real and he may just be sabotaging the best thing he’s ever had. I am ready for the conclusion because that ending left me wanting more. And watching Celia find her strength and become a person she can be proud of is rewarding. This story leans toward the darker side, but I am invested and cannot wait to see where the author takes this couple.
What I love the most in Laurelin Paige books is that every time I read her stories I have no clue what to expect. Slay Quartet is a deeply psychological plot which amazed me the most and also suspense and unusual relationship between main characters kept me on my toes all the time.
I was afraid that author will drag this story too much but she exceptionally managed to intrigue me with Revenge plot.
She delivered so many emotions with this part of the story that I was in my reading heaven again.
I found this profound story to be everything what I need and even more.
Author pulled out aces from the sleeve bit by bit and with each part of this series we uncover something new about Celia and Edward. If you’ve read previous parts of this story, you know how hard it was for them to build the relationship after all they’ve been through.
There was also more of Edward character in this part of the book and as I started to understand Celia’s personality in this story and forgave her all her sins from Fixed trilogy, but than again I still have mixed emotions about Edward role and his disposition. He still was unpredictable for me, manipulative and calculative, but I think he will show his true face in the Rising, the final part of this story.
But there was undeniable chemistry between them. Laurelin Paige skilfully fueled temperature floating between them. They were like two opposite poles strongly attracted to each other. They’re evokes every little emotion in my body that goosebumps were prickle my skin and I freaking love that.
Laurelin Paige left me with many more questions after this part and with huge cliffhanger again and I impatiently awaiting for Rising final instalment of Slay Quartet.
Speechless! Laurelin, you have left me speechless!!!
This book is hot! If your a fan of the pure alpha dominating over, then you will be in your element! And even if your not?…Your heart will still race
But please note, there are some very dark and emotional scenes so please keep that in mind because Laurelin has a way of writing that puts you straight into the midst of it, you won’t just read the story, you are right there alongside the characters so buckle up folks!!!
I’m a long-time fan of Laurelins – Hudson and Alayna are one of my all time favourites and Hudson’s book (titled Hudson!) is my all time favourite male pov book! Love, love, love it!! And we originally met Celia (from this series) in Hudson’s books and I’ll be honest…I didn’t like her! When I heard she was getting her own books I thought happy days! But I still didn’t like her lol. Just nope, I couldn’t like her if I reared her! Believe me, I still loved reading her books but she was one of those love-to-hate characters
But I can honestly say, my heart wept for Celia in this book! And my walls have finally crashed, that girl had me on edge, I cried for her, I cheered for her and I felt kinda bad because I disliked her so much!
Do I forgive her for what happened with Hudson and Alayna?..no, I don’t think I ever will. Can I move on from it and give her a chance?…yeah, I think I definitely can!
And as for Edward Fasbender….heavens above, hot alpha male just isn’t in it!! He takes it to another level!!!
I can’t say much regarding the storyline because I won’t spoil it, but the feelings I got when reading the book… there’s lots of feelings!!! I was happy, sad, amused, turned on, intrigued and engrossed, but I also felt sad, deep heartwrenching sadness, and angry and sick and unsettled; it was brilliant!
So yeah, pull up a seat, switch off your phone and lock your doors for a good few hours because you are in for one hell of a journey!!
I’m on edge for book 4!!!! Bring on the Rising!!!!!!!!
I voluntarily received an arc from the author and this is my honest review.
If you think you’ve read dark and twisted before, then you haven’t read Revenge. This book goes beyond the realms of dangerous and gives you a book that will not only make you feel uncomfortable but will make you swear like a sailor at times.
Edward and Celia are still their usual selves in the book, and Edward’s dangerous side is coming out a lot more. You can see the darkness slowly unleashing itself out of him, and I believe it’s going to get darker in the fourth book. Yet again, I don’t think we’ve seen all that Edward has to offer. There’s still an air of mystery around him that makes him very intriguing to me.
Celia, on the other hand, we get to see more vulnerable. She shows her more innocent side in the novel, and we see her become more adult, stronger. She is coming into herself knowing what she wants and when she wants it. She is finally finding herself.
The novel, the plot is dark, and it covers sensitive issues in graphic detail, which can make it incredibly difficult to read. It’s not an easy read.
However, the book is addictive when it comes to revenge and Edward. He really does take over the entire book, and his need for justice I loved. Though I do feel there are a lot more skeletons which will be unlocked in the fourth book, and I can’t wait.
And 5 stars for the steamy aspects of the novel. WOWZA!
This series I really recommend. It’s not for everybody, however, it’s more than that. It’s about power, the abuse of it and what happens when done right. It’s also steamy, angsty and downright addictive. If you think you fell in love with the Edward in the first two books, well wait until you meet this one. He’ll blow your socks off!
I can’t say enough about this series, it gets better and better with each book. Slay Three: Revenge, continues from Slay Two: Ruin and you will need to read Slay One: Rivalry and Slay Two: Ruin before this one. The main characters, Edward and Celia, have a very hot, raw relationship. Their love is new and they’re still learning about each other. The more Edward learns, the more he wants revenge on the people who hurt Celia, both as a child and who taught her “the game” as a young adult. The ending leaves you craving more and counting the days until Slay Four: Rising is released on May 12th. With each book, I find myself liking Celia more and more, which I never thought would happen because I loathed her so much in the Fixed Trilogy. Another 5 star from Laurelin Paige.
What can I say about Revenge? Let me see. I’m actually scared to admit this, but I think I’m starting to like Edward more than Hudson. GASP! Believe me, I KNOW! I’m not entirely sure how Laurelin Paige went and turned my world upside down with this series. It feels so wrong to have any feelings for Celia Werner other than hatred. I legit am at a loss for words after reading this book. This book is incredible as is this series. It is truly a must read. The only problem I have is that I don’t want to wait until May for the conclusion!
5 Star Review of Slay: Revenge (Slay Quartet #3) by Laurelin Paige
Firstly if you haven’t read the first two books in the quartet then I suggest you do so before you continue with Revenge.
Edward Fasbender and Celia Werner both know how to manipulate people and circumstances to suit themselves, they know the game, they play to win and take no prisoners. The question is who will come out on top?
It is an intense, emotional and gripping story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. There are moments that may challenge you as a reader so you have been warned.
The chemistry between Edward and Celia was intense as the Dom/sub relationship develops. However it was interesting to see him more vulnerable with his love for Celia which also strengthens their relationship.
The writing was strong and I loved how Laurelin Paige drew us in with the story she wove. It was gratifying to watch Celia coming in to her own.
Edward is certainly not a man I would want to cross particularly since he has become focused on exacting revenge.
A roller coaster of a read that is a fast paced story that will draw you in and keep you riveted from the first to the last chapter. Be prepared it does end in one heck of a cliffhanger and I cannot wait for more.
4.5stars–REVENGE is the third instalment in Laurelin Paige’s contemporary, adult SLAY dark, erotic, romance quartet focusing on businessman/billionaire media mogul Edward Fasbender, and Celia Warner. The SLAY Quartet is a spin-off from the author’s FIXED series, and falls in the timeline before Fixed Forever and a few years after Forever with You. REVENGE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book one SLAY: RUIN.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Celia and Edward) SLAY:REVENGE focuses on the ongoing relationship between our leading couple, and Edward’s need to seek vengeance against the men he believes destroy his father. Years earlier, Warren Werner and his brother Ron took over and dismantled his father’s business, and in the ensuing time ruined the lives of Edward and Camilla Fasbender. Fast forward to present day wherein the time has come for Edward to take down the Warner family, starting with Celia, then Warren and Ron. Months will pass, and Edward and Celia’s relationship will become one of power, control and ultimately love until Celia reveals the truth about what happened years before. To get his revenge, Edward works alongside the local police in an effort to take down the man that destroyed Celia’s life. What ensues is the building romance and the Master/submissive relationship between Celia and Edward, and the potential fall-out as Edward refuses to reveal the secrets about his past but demands all of Celia’s secrets in return.
Edward Fasbender and Celia Warner are ultimately game players who often target the vulnerable and the weak but Edward’s latest targets are anyone and everyone who has ever threatened or abused the woman he loves. Meanwhile, Edward is desperate for Celia to reveal the man who introduced our heroine to the world of The Game, the long con that destroyed so many lives.
The relationship between Edward and Celia continues to develop towards a more romantic lifestyle but Edward is a Dominant by nature, and Celia, although somewhat submissive refuses to bow to Edward’s every command. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four letter word in my romance story line. It was only used twice-more for shock value than anything else.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Edward’s children Hagan and Genevieve; his sister Camilla, and her son Freddie ; Celia’s father Warren, and his brother Ron, as well as several other Edward targets in his need for revenge.
SLAY: REVENGE is a story of power and control; of vengeance and retribution; determination, relationship, romance and love. The premise is raw and engaging; the romance is gritty and intense; the characters are wounded, determined, broken yet strong. SLAY: REVENGE is a revealing, emotional and provocative instalment that ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
What does it say that your newlywed husband is more concerned about avenging a wrong and he becomes obsessed about exacting revenge? Vengeance and revenge are dishes both served cold. I wonder how far Edward Fastbender will take his quest.
This story just keeps getting better and better! All the time! Celia is still not my favorite person but I have been warming up to her…. Maybe it is because I am so in love with Hudson, and I feel she did him and Alayna SO wrong, I have to say that I am glad to see that she does still have some instinct to attempt to protect him in some way from the man that she is married to. In this part of the story we learn a lot more about Marion, Edwards first wife. That was quite the interesting tale on its own. And I am not going to lie, knowing what I do know about the timeline since I have read Chandler and Fixed Forever, this book ended on the cliffhanger I was expecting. But that does not make it any less of a cliffhanger! I know what comes of it in the end, but the journey of how they get there form where it has ended now is very intriguing to me and I can not wait to get my hands of the conclusion of this story… it has been a long one in the making…. I think that I am really going to want to read (or listed to) all the books in chronological order once it is all said and done! That will make for a very seriously great binge!!!
After being isolated on the island and alone with her thoughts, Celia returned to London to truly begin her life as Mrs. Edward Fasbender. His sister Camilla didn’t like her and the staff wasn’t sure what to do with her, but all that mattered was that she was reunited with Edward, the man that she loved.
I love this side of Celia, and at last she was the woman I knew she could be. Standing up to Edward, making her own decisions, and leaving her past behind. As I turned the pages of “Revenge” my heart was pounding as Celia and Edward worked together to chase away her demons by punishing those who had wronged her. Every page held a new revelation and I was intrigued by the steps that Edward would take to ensure that Celia would never have nightmares again. His relentless and meticulous pursuit for justice was ingenious and diabolical.
What more can I say about this remarkable book except that Laurelin Paige is an accomplished and brilliant author whose prowess is unmatched in the literary world. I have no idea what to expect from the final book “Slay Four: Rising,” but I am confident it will be as intense and surprising as the rest of the series.
So far this is the book that really had me on the edge, and that’s saying something. The first two books were not a walk in the park. I’m actually really glad the author is taking her time telling Edward and Celia’s story. These characters are so complex. We need to see their story fleshed out and not rushed.
Both Edward and Celia have a long journey to go from where they were when they first met to what I’m hoping to be their happily ever after. That takes time and we need to see their growth taken seriously which I believe the author has accomplished to this point.
I gotta admit, because of how much we are seeing in their journey, I think this couple may have Hudson and Alayna beat with the level of writing that this author is putting into their story. I can’t believe I’m saying that. Trust me, I never thought I would say that. I love Hudson and Alayna. I still do, I just can’t get over how much I’m impressed with how fleshed out these characters are. I feel like I’m right there with them as they grow and become a newer version of themselves.
This last and final book to come will have a lot riding on it. There is just so much more that needs to happen and I’m nervous with how Edward and Celia will get there. This series is not an easy series to read. This isn’t a feel good story. Both Edward and Celia have things in their past that have shaped them to be the enemy in so many peoples eyes.
Their past is not pretty and Celia’s in particular was pretty disturbing. It was very hard to read certain parts of this book and in book 2 when we learn what happened to her. I want them both to finally be free of all that have weighed them down and I want to see them happy. Yes, that manipulative, conniving woman in the Fixed series is the same woman I want to see have some happiness in her life.
Revenge is book #3 in the Slay Quartet, and should be read in the right order!
This was an amazing, unique, intriguing, and captivating read. However, the way the narrators brought this story to life with their performance, is perfection. I truly felt like a was there and could easily visualize, and felt every emotion it evoked on me as if I was part of the story. I felt the pain, the love, the anger, the passion, the sadness, the struggles, and the desperation.
I had a great time listening to it, and highly recommend this amazing series.
I’m rating this installment with 10 stars not only because the storyline continue to be flawless, intense, gripping, and addicting, but the narrators nailed it every single time by captivating my whole attention, and making my listening experience one that has captured my heart since I’ve started this series!!
Elena Wolf and Shane East are my dream team. Just perfection. They are able to perfectly evoke a mood or emotions so genuinely, that I had to compose myself several times. I can’t wait for what comes next!!
Wow, what a cliffhanger! What can I say—this book is simply phenomenal. This dark and edgy romance BLEW…MY…MIND—a 5++ star if I could! Well, if you read books 1 & 2, you met Edward Fasbender who is the devil in disguise and a number 1 grade alpha-hole, but now my perception of Edward has changed—now I am swooning over this sexy man! I grappled with Edward’s change towards Celia because I wanted to continue loathing him as the devil in disguise. Edward and Celia are back in London after Celia spent two years on the private island. Despite the tumultuous events that brought Edward and Celia together, Celia believed she had found her happily-ever-after with Edward, the love of her life. Soon, however, things begin to fall apart. Feelings are overwhelmed by Edward’s possessiveness, control, and need for revenge to those who have wronged him and especially Celia. Celia finds herself at a crossroads when she confronts Edward. What happens next—let the games play? This book is letting you know what to expect later—the anticipation of the next book will be really succulent, but it is sure to be a hot as hell, sexy, and intriguing dark romance!! The story has a revenge plot, outlined to make you question everything. Second-guessing motives and characters. There are several twists and turns within the story that makes it interesting. The storyline is fluid, and the characters are extremely well developed. Laurelin Paige, you did it by constructing a deliciously edgy romance that is stupendous and will lure you into the wee hours and beyond that, you will not be able to put this book down. I highly recommend this book!!
I can not get enough of Edward and Celia and the ever changing evolution of their emotional and provocative love story! I am desperate for more after watching the power games that continue between Edward and Celia but also the love that is blossoming so beautifully between them! Celia is learning how to live and love without the strings she was taught to control from a very young age. Edward continues to help Celia change her painful past memories into something pure and beautiful, making her feel worthy of forgiveness, respect, and love. Together they are finding a life that brings them both comfort, unconditional love and passion. But Edward has his own demons that control him. He has lived for revenge for so long, it is hard for him to give up that quest. When their past becomes their present, how much is too much? Will they be strong enough to fight for each other and the life they are building together? This story is filled with so many facets from both their lives, being expertly woven together to make such a fascinating and seductive romance. The transformation they undergo as individuals and as a couple is so intriguing, and captivating, I can’t get enough! The ending left me breathless, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next in the fourth and final book, Rising!
4.25 Stars
Book #3!
It’s been a long while since book #2 and I forgot everything! LOL!
Damn #Bookalzheimers! But I re-read the last pages and my review of the 2nd book and now I’m back on track!
Book #3 starts with Celia and Edward arriving back in London after the Island. To finally move into the family home with Edward’s sister and nephew as real married people! Not like the pretend revenge weirdos from book #1. LOL!
But revenge is still on their agenda – only now they’ll be working together to make all the bad people in their pasts pay!
Let the fun times begin…
This was another great book in this series.
It took me a while to get into it. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood for such a book today. I’m not really a fan of this whole bdsm/sub whatever stuff. But I really love Edward and Celia and the story is really interesting. I loved to see how they started their new life together – with all the daily stuff that happens in a normal marriage – plus their revenge and personal stuff that’s not really all that normal!
And I also loved the end – there’s definitely more excitement to come in the last book!
SLAY THREE: REVENGE was a great 3rd book in this crazy & sexy quartet! I can’t wait to see what will happen with Celia and Edward at the end of their story! Hurry to your nearest amazon asap – Edward will be sold out in no time!!!
4.5 stars. Edward Fasbender continues to surprise me because of his layered complexity. I keep changing my mind about him. He and Celia are firm in their relationship, which means not only have they opened up their hearts, but also their baggage. Edward is not without his own unresolved issues. His thirst for revenge is unrivaled and once upon a time, Celia could likely relate. I would’ve never thought there would come a time where I’d see Celia as the rational and reasonable one, but yet here she is. I am completely solid in support of Celia now. She has grown and matured so much, thanks to Edward. Despite him demanding her submission, Celia is not going to stand by passively when she feels strongly in opposition. I admired this about her because Edward does not handle disagreement well. Yet if Celia doesn’t voice her thoughts, Edward has the tendency to overstep to an extreme. Although I can’t entirely fault him because he does so with the intent to protect and out of love. He is focused on taking down people who have wronged him and Celia. Knowing her background, I understand Edward’s desire for justice (more like evisceration when it’s on his terms). What fascinates me is how Edward likes to play puppet master with everyone around him and he seems so calm and collected, but when it comes to himself, he has blinders on and a lack of boundaries once he sets his sight on annihilation. Therefore, watching him compromise with Celia is all the more satisfying when she states her terms under no uncertain circumstances. A lot happens in this book, digging deep into both Edward and Celia’s hidden wounds so some parts will hard for readers to read. I loved the ending cliffhanger on this one. Can’t wait to see what the final conclusion will bring seeing as how much I’ve been sucked into the Edward and Celia vortex.
What a great book. Loved all the valentine story from our past reads with the addition of some new characters.
