Their relationship changes again when Celia learns the devil takes care of his own. Edward Fasbender is my savior. From the ashes of who I once was, he is helping me to rise. He has a list of people who have wronged him. And now he’s adding names to that list. Names that I gave him. And we will have our revenge. Revenge is the third book in the Slay Quartet.
The last time I was consumed this way by a series was Ms. Paige’s Fixed Trilogy. I can not quit this story now. While I hate that I didn’t read this series the moment the books were released. I am so glad I am able to binge these books. To say this book in particular had me on edge is an understatement. I glanced at my apple watch at one point to check my heart rate and it had absolutely elevated significantly. I need more and I need it now so I will end this review now because I need to dive into Rising ASAP!!! Don’t be a fool like me stop what you are doing right now and start reading this series!!
Camilla and Edward are quite the team. This series just keeps getting better and better. This series has me reading straight through. I have to find out what is going to happen. I love the revenge. What’s next?
Wow another shocker of an ending! I need the 4th book now so I know how it’s going to turn out! I’m so loving this series!
Celia and Edward return from the island and things have changed with them there stronger and happier than they have been. But Edward is anxious to start his revenge and there is only one thing that is keeping him from fulfilling that and it’s Celia she doesn’t want to go down that path now that she has changed but things change and things learned and she’s on board.
It’s a push and pull relationship with them, Edward wants all her secrets but when she asks for his sectets he changes tactics! Will Celia learn Edward’s secrets? Will Celia finally give in and tell Edward her last remaining secret or will she push right back at him?
Secrets will be revealed, revenge will be had and hearts will be broken! I can’t wait till Rising comes out in May!
I just can’t get enough of Edward and Celia. Their story is so entertaining and filled with so much heat and twists. I didn’t think Laurelin Paige could top the previous two books in the Slay series but she definitely did with Revenge. Here I got a deeper insight into Edward and Celia’s past. Especially Edward’s past was fascinating. How he became the man he is and why he behaves the way he does towards Celia. He wants to care for her. Physically and emotionally. I like that Celia doesn’t give into him but fight him when something truly matters to her. Their push and pull game is amazing and sizzling. They complement each other perfectly. In Revenge they’re a team but of course conflicts will appear and challenge them and their marriage. With the way Revenge ends I just need Book 4 – Rising now! I need answers and more Edward and Celia.
4 Ruby Red Stars
Well this series just keeps getting better and better, a real page turner. In the Fixed series, I hated Celia, she was a horrible person and did not care about anyone else. I still had my doubts about her after reading book 1, started to change after I read book 2 but in this book, I am starting to feel for her and everything she has gone through. Edward is a hot, sexy, alpha male who I didn’t care for at first but reading these books makes me love him. He still plays his games with Celia but more out of love for her. He is out for revenge for all that have wronged Celia. I can’t wait for the next book. This is a great series, a must read.
Celia and Edward! Who would have thought that what started in book 1…two enemies, could turn into love?
I can see why Celia falls for him, but still, I question everything he does or says. He shows his love for Celia in strange ways but he seems to be very honest with Celia even when it may make him look bad.
They both seem to be healing from their past. I see Celia as a new person, so far removed from the first time we met her in Fixed trilogy.
As usual with Laurelin Paige’s work, it is so well written that you never want the story to end. Looking forward to reading Slay Four.
The description of this book is spot on, “He has a list of people who have wronged him. And now he’s adding names to that list. Names that I gave him. And we will have our revenge.”
This third story in the quartet provides a deeper look into not only Celia and Edward’s relationship, it also takes us back to the relationships that shaped both our Hero and heroine. I never thought I’d ever admit to admiring Celia Warner Fasbender, but the author has skillfully revealed the depth of who the real Celia is, her strength in not only battling her past demons, but also the tenacity she shows when “negotiating” with her husband. Because the story is told from a dual point of view, we feel and hear the honest conversations they have with each other, along with the past feelings and secrets they still withhold from one another. Will those secrets be their undoing, or will the truth bring them closer? Can’t wait for the conclusion!!
4.5 STARS
NO SPOILERS!
Wow. Wow. Wow. Revenge was a sexy, riveting, and suspenseful third installment in the Slay Quartet, and has been my favorite of the series so far. A lot transpired in Revenge, and I was captivated from beginning to end.
I once again loved Laurelin Paige’s writing style, and that she finally gave readers more chapters from Edward’s perspective. I loved delving deeper into his character and discovering what motivated him to be the man he is today. Some of the questions I had from the previous two books were answered in Revenge, but there were still several things left up in the air (which I obviously expected), and I very much look forward to continuing/finishing Edward and Celia’s story in Rising.
This book slayed me!
I thought I loved books 1 & 2 in the brilliant quartet, but they do not compare to Revenge!
Just like my reviews for books 1 & 2, I’m starting this review the exact same: this book is NOT a standalone. You HAVE to read the first two books in order to understand the entire story line.
Edward and Celia. Goodness…where do I even begin at this point? The trouble with reviewing this book is that everything I can potentially say would be a spoiler, especially since this book is right in the heart of the over-all story. If I tell you what’s happened up until this point, that’s a spoiler. If I tell you where this book ends, and what I predict could happen next, that’s a spoiler. See the dilemma?
But, I think it’s safe for me to express my feelings towards the characters.
For those who have met Celia in The Fixed Trilogy, her likeability factor was an all-time low. Like zero, on a scale of 100. Well, maybe more like -50. But from that low point up until now, my understanding for what she’s endured and sacrificed in her life has only grown more compassionate, where I grieved right along with her as the story progressed. I like her now. I never thought in a million years I would ever say that, but I do. I really like Celia now.
And Edward…..gah, my views on him went up and down right along with Celia’s. I wanted to initially like him. But then I wanted to hate him (i.e. book 2), but then I fell for him like most everyone who has read this book. He’s the one who’s supposed to slay the dragon….but, after reading Revenge, we begin to wonder who the real dragon is. And my lips are sealed.
Like book 1, this book also ends on a cliffhanger. But it completely sets up for what’s next to come in the final Slay novel. Each book in this quartet has definitely lived up to its name, so I’m beyond excited to find out what Rising will bring us!
Revenge is the third book in the Slay series. I am loving Celia and Edward’s journey and seeing their relationship continue to evolve. This book is raw, passionate, suspenseful, and heart breaking. And that cliffhanger! I need Rising now!!
I love this couple! Edward and Celia started off rocky in book one. Twists and turns of the story bring Edward around to avenging people in his and Celia’s life. I once hated Celia’s character, and now I understand why she was so awful. Edward is her match at playing games and they have been playing with fire the whole series. This is book three of four in her series I cannot wait for book four to see where this ends!
I seriously cannot with Laurelin Paige. Her sheer talent and storytelling ability are so inspiring, and Revenge proves yet again why she’s one of my favorite authors.
Revenge is the third book in the Slay Quartet, so if you haven’t read Rivalry and Ruin, make sure you read those first before diving into this one.
I was sucked into the story from the first page. I love that Celia and Edward are working together now because they’re stronger as a duo, and just like the title implies, revenge is what they’re looking to serve to those who’ve wronged them. Their evolution as both a couple and individuals is fascinating, and seeing the devil take care of his own gave me all the good feels. I’m simultaneously anticipating and dreading the release of Rising because I need to know how it all ends and also don’t want it to end. Bookworm problems, am I right?
Do yourself a favor and read this series. I never thought I’d love Celia’s story because c’mon, Hudson. But I do. I really, really do.
This is book 3 in the series. The story continues between Edward and Celia. This book we learn more about Edward and Marion relationship and Edwards past. And what made him be how he is now. We see Edwards wants and goes after the revenge he has so been waiting for so many years.
Gah man I love the way Edwards finally shows Celia, how much he cares for her and how far he will go for her.
The story ends in a cliffhanger!!!! Can’t wait for the last book in the series. I’m so rooting for Celia.
Well sheeeeeettttt! That was magnificent! Don’t ask me why I though book three was the end but I did and now I’m like damn it laurelin, you keffiyehs next hanging again! Lol This story has so many intricate layers we are still peeling back and we just hit a big one! I for one rejoiced when Edward wreaked his revenge! Ugh so many emotions all over the place leading up to it and then just pure joy! I am loving every page of Celia and Edwards journey and can’t wait for book 4!
One of my favorite authors has done it again and left my jaw on the floor. Laurelin Paige has pulled me into this delicious steamy story of Celia and Edward.
I never thought I would be a Celia fan but she quickly changed my mind. Her and Edward are perfect for each other. These two have come a long way. Edward will do what it takes to get his revenge.
I love this series and am always left wanting more. You get all the things we have come to expect form Laurelin Paige. This is a must series!
Gah! I don’t know where to begin to express how much I loved Book #3 in the Slay Quartet. It is the continuation of Edward and Celia’s story. It is told in a dual POV. Some chapters are in the past so that we get a better understanding of what is going on in the present. Laurelin Paige takes us on yet another twisted and unpredictable yet exciting journey of revenge and love. Secrets are revealed, people are exposed, revenge is exacted, and oh how delicious that revenge tastes!
Edward Fassbender is a powerful man hell-bent on revenge, and God help the target of his ire. His original target has now changed once truths come to light. Let me just say that I have a newfound respect for him. He is so much more than I originally thought. He is passionate, funny, sexy, caring, and ruthless when necessary. He will stop at nothing to protect the ones he loves, and I love that about him.
Celia Warner Fassbender has come so far. Things about her past are revealed and we see what has driven her in the past, and why she was like she was. I must admit that I was not a fan of Celia prior to this book, but now that the many complex layers of Celia have been peeled back, courtesy of her husband, I have a newfound like and respect for her. I admire her even. She is stronger than before and more vulnerable at the same time (You’ll have to read to find out what I mean.).
There is a good deal of angst and suspense in this book and I loved it! I loved learning what drove both of them and the jaw-dropping secrets that were unveiled. I loved seeing Edward and Celia’s relationship evolve into something new and sexy and wonderful, but it doesn’t come without some major bumps and resistance. Will Edward and Celia be able to overcome these obstacles? Their love story is far from easy, but I believe that they are up for the task. I know that I am rooting for them! They have such a sizzling dynamic and chemistry. There are wonderful characters throughout the book. The plot is dark at times and twisted with a roller coaster of emotions. This is one roller coaster ride that I am happy to be on! This does end on a cliffhanger that I thought might be coming but it was a great cliffhanger nonetheless. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
****ARC generously provided in exchange for an honest review.****
Nothing has changed for me as I continue to read this series in regards to my love for Edward Fasbender. He truly is the devil in disguise and I can’t get enough of him!
Celia has been the biggest surprise for me in this series. Her growth continues to both impress and astound me. She is definitely not the same Celia from the Fixed Trilogy, And I look forward to rereading Chandler and Fixed Forever after this series concludes.
I absolutely cannot wait for Rising, and the end of the beginning of Edward and Celia’s love affair!
As Celia and Edward’s story has continued, readers have been privy to their initial objectives and to the plans they were exacting to reach their individual goals, but in book three, after both characters had seemed to have reached their breaking point with their feelings for each other, their pasts, and respective scars, things are moving forward in a way that neither of them believed possible, which means that those who have hurt or betrayed them are about to reap what they sowed, and no one is safe from the wrath of Edward and Celia Fasbender.
For two books, I’ve questioned Edward’s motives, and rightly so, because he had his own agenda when it came to what he wanted from his marriage, but his plan has changed, and that’s because Celia surprised him at almost every turn and had proven herself to be a worthy opponent and because of everything that occurred on the island, their relationship, their partnership has changed, which also changes the game and who they plan to bring to their knees, together.
Since the beginning of this Slay Quartet, I have been most interested in Celia’s evolution as a heroine. I’ve been more than upfront with my disdain for her, so the fact that Laurelin Paige made me feel for Celia’s circumstances and made me want her to get the ending she deserves is saying something.
From enemy to savior?
This is an intriguing concept, but it’s also one that’s difficult to completely buy into because there always seems to be an ulterior motive or ten for any of Celia and Edward’s actions, so heading into the final book in the quartet will truly illustrate just how far these two characters have come, both individually and as a married couple who truly love one another.
4 Poison Apples
Laurelin Paige continues the journey. With schemes and intrigue as she further explores Edward and Cecilia relationship.
Edward and Cecilia have left the island and have returned to London. Having decided to have a real marriage.
But now Edward wants Cecilia to move forward by taking REVENGE to those who have wronged her in her past.
Cecilia knew her husband had dark secrets and is hesitant about his plans, but, has decided that after she went through in her younger years from her uncle, she’s ready for that retribution.
But she also learns how strong ahe has become and what her relationship with Edward has become. She is finally able to get Edward to talk to her about his ex-wife and what the difference between each marriage.
When the plot is set and the task at hand is completed, will Cecilia and Edward be able to move further to their future.
Okay, so here’s the kicker about attempting to review this journey at this stage (book 3 of 4) … it is impossible. There is nothing that I can tell you right now that won’t be a spoiler for what has happened, what is happening and/or what might happen in the future so …… but, I can still share:
Celia is still slaying it and I love her and want to have her babies!
Edward is still weirdly fascinating
These two own my heart and soul right now
#JesusSaveMeFromThisJourney
I’ve come to fully understand the reasoning (I think lol) behind this journey being divided into four distinct parts but I loath the fact that they are SO far apart from each other. It will be almost a year between when this journey began and when it ends and over 300 books in between. I’m not sure I would have began this journey when I did had I been aware of that because I’ve had to go back to refresh my memory on details every time a book has released *sigh*
