Xavier is one of the only true Hunters left in New York. He doesn’t cave under the pressures of the newly appointed Government task force to eradicate the “problem” they had with Nosferatu’s feeding on the humans just like the others did. Xavier wasn’t fooled by their idea to “help” the Nosferatu blend in – he knew it was highly unlikely the bloodthirsty animals would curb their taste for fresh, … fresh, hot blood.
When the woman who killed his father and brother ten years ago arrives back in town – he sees red, vowing to end her once and for all….
Soleil has secrets – too many secrets, one in particular had haunted her since the day she’d made the promise to keep it. But the time had come to end her existence, she’d tell Xavier the truth about his family and allow him to kill her. Only…first, she needed to get him to trust her enough to tell him the truth.
Just as she is about to unload, her dark and dangerous past comes back to haunt her – this time, it would take more than a trick to ensnare her enemy and take him out for good – can she enlist Xavier to help her to ensure the world doesn’t fall into the hands of an egomaniacal immortal hellbent on using the humans as his slaves.

Xavier has been trained to be a Hunter all his life, all the men in his family have. Killing Nosferatu is what he does best, but when everything he has be raised to hate suddenly tires to change his mind, should he listen? Soleil is tired. She is tired of being hunted, she is tired of running and she is tired of the lies. Soleil needs to remedy her past lies and tell the truth to Xavier a truth she knows he won’t want to hear. Soleil just needs a little bit of time to reach her goal, but when someone from her past comes back and threatens what she holds dear, Soleil just might have to put her plans to die on hold. Keeping Xavier alive and telling him the truth is all that matters even if it kills her in the process.
This book had me from the start and was gutted when I got to the end and what an ending at that!
Xavier has always been a hunter it is all he has known even if he didn’t feel as if he really fitted in and when Soliel turns up after killing his brother and Father everything he thought he knew is no certain. There is just so much action, secrets, surprises and twists along with great characters and great pace of the story that there was no putting down this book. Now I just have to countdown to when book 2 is out because I need to know what happens next!!!
This is an honest review for The Assassin’s reading reviewing group.
Alekxavier or Xavier, Hunter of Nosferatu or vampires, truly does have many things revealed to him about his life, his family and what he has been led to believe. Soleil, a Nosferatu, who has helped his family of hunters is back to sort out things but more is going on that even she knew!
Sarcastic wit abounds alongside the drama and action. Mysterious happenings mix up the puzzle pieces making it more difficult to place them into the correct slots but one by one they slowly start to move into place.
This truly is a captivating story and very easy to read with its fast pace and complex plot. The characters are either really easy to like or extremely hard to like because of the terrific descriptions and character building throughout the book.
The ending is dramatic and leaves you craving for the next book!
