A complex story that pulled me in from the beginning, with the amazing imagination of Jude Knight that never fails to capture my interest! Code names Shadow and Mist, David and Prue, both working undercover for the crown, had come together on an assignment, and had one blissful night. But there were secrets Prue did not share and she pulled away.
But as things go, they ended up working on different assignments that seemed to collide and tie them back together. Mystery, intrigue, murder, blackmail, suspense and villains abound. I was totally captured and on the edge of my seat to find out what would happen and if these two would come back together!!
Simply brilliant and worth reading again and again!
The author has a great hand on the facts of the times. Well written with well developed plot and characters. A recommended read.

Lots of Intrigue, Blackmail, and Murder!
I have read several books by Jude Knight. While I didn’t particularly care for her early Redpenning series, I have enjoyed others like A Baron for Becky. I’m happy to say this is another that I enjoyed thoroughly. The author has created a complex world, including characters we’ve seen in her other books. Not that you need to read all of her books in order to appreciate this one; she does you give some background about characters and circumstances so you don’t get lost. However, reading some of her other books might give a deeper appreciation of this one.
This book is certainly a whirlwind of activity. We have the complicated romance between Shadow and Mist—both of whom work as spies or investigators for the Crown or for wealthy people. Prior to this book, they had worked several cases together and had become lovers starting five months prior to the true beginning of this book. It didn’t end well as he assumed that she reviled him, as so many previous women had, after she learned of his background, and she fled, harboring secrets of her own. When they meet again that five months later, it is clear they both have unresolved feelings toward each other, though neither is willing to be open about it.
And I haven’t even touched on the current case they are working on! Working separately for different people, they are both investigating a blackmail case. She has been placed as a housekeeper so she can investigate a particular group of men. But when the lady of the house ends up murdered, she becomes a prime suspect and is thrown into Newgate. There’s certainly a lot of intrigue and suspense in this book, but I’ll let you discover more for yourself by reading the book. It touches on several themes that could be disturbing to some, like rape, a trumped-up homosexual relationship (which was a hanging offense at the time), bigamy, and adultery. The author weaves in everything with a delicate touch, incorporating all the perhaps seedier elements into the story by making them an extension of personality, and therefore, character. All in all, this is a complex Regency romantic suspense that is better than most in that category, and I certainly look forward to the next book in the series.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Newgate and spying.
Prune ends up in Newgate (a horrible prison) and David is tasked with aiding her.
While you were spying.
Wow! this story has it all treason, murder, blackmail, love, secrets, so much action to keep the pages turning. Good characters and the plow flows smoothly as everything falls into place.
An excellent book with a whole cast of intriguing characters. The plots and subplots, the twists and turns really capture the essence of that entire period in history that the book is set in. David and Pru (a.k.a. Shadow and Mist, their code names), are deeply complex individuals and it was wonderful to follow along with them as they endeavor to resolve this current case they have been embroiled in while also finding their way to their own romantic resolution! The historical events are well depicted and I want to read about all of the other agents now and will have to research the other stories involving them! Jude Knight is fast becoming a favorite author of mine and One I want to read more of!!

An intriguing plot, a thoroughly researched setting, characters that grow and change, and who are people you might wish to know. Revealed in the Mist is just one in a long line of reasons why Jude Knight is one of my must read authors. I received an ARC of this book from BookSprout for leaving my honest review.
This is a wonderful murder mystery with lots of interesting characters and a delightful romance. David and Prue are known as the code names “Shadow and Mist”. Jude Knight is one of my favorite authors and once again she has given us another great read. I was drawn into the story right from the beginning and was captivated all the way through till the end. She brings the story to life with her vivid descriptions and attention to detail and I can picture the scenes clearly in my mind. This book has everything from spies and mystery to romance and intrigue all set in the Regency world. There were so many plot twists and surprises that I couldn’t stop turning the pages anxious to see what would happen next. A very enjoyable and entertaining read, for sure. If you enjoy mystery, romance, and intrigue then I think you will enjoy this book.

Oh my, oh my! Have tissues ready as this book will take you from the very highs of love to the very low as misunderstandings and perceived shame abound in this delightful tale. Lady Mist and Sir Shadow.
There is a lot going on in this piece and it so good! David and Prue were splendid characters and the author’s writing kept me totally engaged in her work. Twists and turns and a grand mystery await the reader. Half brothers, villains, murder, and super secondary characters like Gren and Charity is what you will find. This book was so entertaining and I highly recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

I love a good murder mystery. One that keeps the reader guessing until close to the end. One that makes you want to read more from the author. Revealed in Mist is such a murder mystery. However, it is also so much more. Jude Knight treats us to a murder mystery (multiple murders), but includes romance, spies, and social commentary, all wrapped up with wonderful characters and dastardly villains. David and Prue are two of my favorite Jude Knight characters, very intelligent, likeable, and altruistic. I rooted for them to settle their issues and secrets throughout the book, so they could have their well deserved HEA. It wasn’t always a given. Ms. Knight is a master at throwing twists and turns so the reader can not be really certain how it will all end. I have read many of this author’s book, but this one is my favorite so far. I really like how her characters are intertwined throughout many of her books. As they pop up, it’s like meeting an old friend. I look forward to meeting them again in more of her books. Revealed in Mist is an entertaining part-love story, part-detective story book. Prudence Virtue (what a name), or Prue, is secret agent Mist, working for the Government. The book starts with the end of a mission, when Prue has a quick relationship with agent Shadow.
Shadow, or David Warfield, is one of the Duke of Haverford’s by-blows who got good education due to the Duchess of Haverford’s kindness. When he talks about this to Prue, he notices she reacts badly to the information and believes she won’t go on seeing him anymore because he’s a bastard, so he leaves Prue alone.
Prue really reacted badly to David’s story, but not because of his origin. Actually, she had some dealings with the Haverfords and is afraid of what David would think of her if he got to learn about her relationship with that family.
Besides their love lives, Prue and David have to deal with some family issues, which get tangled with their investigative missions. I enjoyed reading the book especially because of these believable characters. I do hope Ms. Knight intends to start a series on Prue and David’s future investigations.
