Lee Tobin McClain pens a beautiful, heartfelt story against the backdrop of a charming town. If you enjoy sweet romance, this is a keeper!
Too depressing, too many arguments, too many issues. Homosexual relationship included.
Another amazing book by the author. I always know that when I pick up one of Ms. Tobin McClain’s books – I will be reading a heartwarming, well written, flowy story. Rita finds herself a newly single mother running a motel with a teenager (Kaitlyn) who is spiraling out of control. Drew, has changed a lot since the divorce – and knows that he has to be a major part of the kids lives. Can he do so without causing problems with Rita? Drew, who is former law enforcement K9 handler, moves back to be with the kids – but is able to get into a program that will allow wounded officers to stay for free — and assist with volunteer work. This helps him get his head in the right place. I love books that have k9 doggies in it :). What will happen when both realize the other has changed and there is still feelings?
This is book 2 of the Off Season series – and it can be read as a stand alone.
I love the characters in this book. I love the series. I love how this author writes. I cannot wait until the next book.
Special thanks to the author and the publisher for allowing me to read this story – all thoughts are my own.
Reunion at the Shore deals with real life family situations especially when the parents are divorced. Lee Tobin McClain did a great job writing it. Difficult topics like body image (across 3 generations), self-esteem, miscarriage, bullying/cyberbullying, teen suicide, and pregnancy are dealt with honestly with tremendous care. I mention these not to spoil the book but because they can be triggers for some. This is a hard book to put down because the characters are well developed and easy to relate too. Even if you haven’t gone through the same experiences as the characters, I believe you will want to keep reading (like I did) to see what happens next.
I received a free copy of this book from the author but was not required to leave a review. All opinions are my own.
Reunion at the Shore is the second book in The Off Season series. Although there are some characters from Cottage at the Beach (Book 1) in this book, it is not necessary to read the books in order. However, I also loved Cottage at the Beach so I do highly recommend that book as well as Lee Tobin McClain’s other series Safe Haven and any of her Love Inspired books or series.
Reunion at the Shore by Lee Tobin McClain is the second book in her The Off Season series.
Ria Martin, the owner of a small, struggling motel, the Chesapeake Motor Lodge, has two teenage daughters, who are troubled and having problems at school. She’s contacted her ex-husband Drew to solicit his help with their daughters.
Drew Martin has been out of contact with his ex-wife and their children for months, because he didn’t want them to know about the head injury that left him with a severe visual impairment.
Ria and Drew are thrown together when he returns to Pleasant Shores to reconnect with his children. Ria notices that Drew has changed positively in fundamental ways. The attraction has never lessened for either of them. Will they put aside the differences that led to their divorce and give marriage and their family a second chance?
Reunion at the Shore is as compelling as the previous book of the series. We are reintroduced and given a deeper look at some of the characters. This isn’t just a heartwarming romance. Once again the author touches on some important issues faced by women. I throughly enjoyed this novel. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all lovers of heartwarming second chance romance.
The included sneak peek at the next book in the series, Christmas on the Coast, is riveting. I am excited for it’s release.
My thanks to the author and HARLEQUIN – Romance (US & Canada) for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.
Reunion at the Shore deals with several family dynamics including pressures teenagers can face! Ria Martin works hard to be a good mother to her teenage daughters following her divorce from their father. Drew Martin was always an involved father but he doesn’t want Ria and the girls to know about the trauma he has faced so he becomes an absentee dad. Drew and Ria strive to be better parents after the girls face difficult situations. All of the family learns that they need to be honest with one another. You will enjoy this book set at the Chesapeake Bay! I received a complimentary book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
Lee Tobin McClain’s book Reunion At The Shore:
When Ria moved to Pleasant Shores her and the girls life change. When Ria starts seeing that Kaitlyn is having problems she knows she has to contact Drew. When Ria finds Drew she is shocked when she finds out what happened to him. When Drew shows up at Pleasant Shores all of there lives will change. You will feel God working throughout this wonderful story. Lee is a amazing Christian author. You won’t be able to stop reading her books. I had the honor to review this book for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
The book was really excellent to read. The story of Ria and Drew was wonderful. There was so many issues presented in the book that made the book feel real. Lee put her heart and soul into her story.
An emotional heartfelt journey!
A Reunion At The Shore was a gripping, touching story. Lee Tobin McClain puts her heart into her books and into her characters, and it shines through. I felt so much, as I absolutely devoured the pages. I couldn’t stop. This family meant the world to me, so very real and so very relatable.
This story is moving and memorable. I can’t wait to see what comes next. I absolutely recommend this story for all my book loving friends.
Lee really outdone herself on this book. You have a bit of everything the beach, first responders, a dog ,teen girls, divorce and lots of romance in real life situations that are handled amazingly. When Ria starts having trouble with her teenage daughter she reaches out to her ex but he does not respond so after several attempts she goes to look and find him because she thinks that he will be able to get through to Kaitlyn. What she finds is not anything like the image that she had in her head, Drew has been injured and he’s now blind and that is why he is not visiting his daughters or has not responded to Ria he does not want anyone to see him this way. After a couple days he decides that his daughter needs him and he needs to go and try to help figure out what her problem is he soon discovers that he is still in love with Ria and he thinks she loves him as well but they have great hurdles to cross not only does Kaitlin have issues her other daughter Sophia has greater issues as well. On top of all of these troubles Ria has kept a secret for several years from Drew . Can they overcome the secret that no one knows or will it be the downfall that will keep a second chance from happening. Once you start reading this amazing story you will not want to put it down till you’re done.
When divorced couple Tia and Drew come together to help their two daughters with teenage crises, they must also deal with their own issues. This is s story of neighbors and friends stepping in to give support and encouragement, of a family trying to find its way. Full of the feel-good, close-knit community spirit this author is known for. I received a copy of this book from the author without expectations for reviews. These are my thoughts and opinions.
Reunion at the Shoe is a fantastic addition to the series Off Season. Entertaining and well written. Easy to read with believable characters that you can relate to. I highly recommend this sweet romance. I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. This is my unbiased review.
Small town romance, easy to read story about second chances and love.
Although the author touches on life alternating events like divorce, teenage peer pressure, drama, drugs and suicide; I found it realistic, heartwarming and hopeful.
Ria and Drew try to co-parent after their divorce for the sake of their girls but find it hard with the different family and extended family dynamics and traditions.
I enjoyed reading this clean contemporary romance-perfect for weekend reading. The characters and story line were engaging and kept my interest.
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

this Ria is and Drew Martin’s story.
this Ria is Kaitlyn and Sophia’s story.
RIA MARTIN SHOULD have enjoyed the chance to escape the endless bills and even more endless chores that faced her as the owner of a small, struggling motel. She should have relished the soft fall breeze off the bay. But as she hurried toward her teenage daughter’s school, her stomach churned.
Can you come pick up Kaitlyn ASAP?
October, and it was the third such urgent text message since Kaitlyn had started eighth grade. Ria’s heart ached for her sensitive younger daughter, and she wished she could just hug her and make everything right again. But hugs hadn’t helped, and neither had probing conversations nor clear consequences. Kaitlyn’s grades were slipping and her reputation as a star student was morphing into that of a star troublemaker. What had happened to Ria’s sweet daughter?
Drew entering a program in Pleasant Shores which allows wounded police officers to stay at The Cottage in exchange for some volunteer work. It works out well for Drew and his former K-9 partner Navy.
Drew used his cane to find the curb.
You are going straight head,so listen for the cars running paraller. I can figure it out.
I highly recommend reading.

REUNION AT THE SHORE…Lee Tobin McClain
A mother’s fear for her teenage daughter and feeling helpless. The school has called again, her grades have been slipping, a daddy’s girl, and he wasn’t around. For Kaitlyn the kids teasing her, it was small private school, but the gossip was unbearable for her.
To bring Drew back and see what he could do.for Kaitlyn. Driving back to the old neighborhood, the memories of happy days. The police station, told her he was on leave. Now seeing him with a cane, a head injury he said.
He missed them, his girls, especially Kaitlyn, his marriage. How could he navigate, it still was too soon.
A mom, a grandmother knew what was needed, seeing a smile in Kaitlyn face, gave her the courage to contact Drew herself without asking Ria, her daughter.
A beautiful story of a family drawing together once again, the need and hope was there. The memories they had shared to rebuild on that. Well done, good flowing plot that draws you into the story. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Another great book by Lee Tobin McClain. I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. Ria is struggling to raise her two daughters by herself. She has no idea that her ex husband Drew has had an incident at work which has left him blind. She finds out when she seeks out his help with their daughter Caitlyn who is being bullied at school. This story covers so many aspects of life’s many struggles and is very intense. Don’t miss this awesome story!
Lee Tobin McClain has shown, once again, that she is not afraid to tackle tough subjects. Bullying, body image, handicaps, teenage pregnancy, among others. She did a great job of weaving it all together into a wonderful story. I would like to say I couldn’t put the book down, but I had to occasionally. I was getting so emotionally into the story that I had to take a break, but not for long. I had to see what happened next. This is a great book and I would recommend it.
I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a positive review.
Another great book by Lee Tobin McClain such a great book about a young lady and bullying in school Ria is a single mother trying to raise her 2 daughters and run a motel then she finds out her daughter Kaitlyn is being bullied by her classmates in school she goes to find her ex-husband Drew so he can come to the shore and talk to his daughter to see what is going on with her, little did Ria know her ex-husband was blind from an accident! This is such a great book and a page turner if you haven’t read you should you wont be disappointed!
Ria Martin didn’t know her ex-husband had lost his sight. She just knew he wasn’t being very responsive these days. But then that had been one of the biggest problems in their marriage – lack of communication. Now their fourteen-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn needs both her parents to step in and help sort out her problems. Kaitlyn is not being very communicative either. That’s why Ria decided to go to Baltimore to confront her ex-husband, former police officer Drew Martin. That’s when Ria found out about Drew’s loss of sight. They need to work together though for both their daughters’ sake.
Drew Martin is having a tough time dealing with his loss of sight due to a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) incurred while on duty. In very good light he can see some things but the images are very blurry. He has withdrawn into himself and avoids visitors. When his ex-wife Ria tracks him down to tell him about their daughter Kaitlyn experiencing difficulties at school and seeks his help Drew realizes he needs to leave his self-pity behind and step-up to help Kaitlyn. Since Ria and his daughters are now in Pleasant Shores where Ria owns and operates a motel Drew needs to find a place to stay for a while. Someplace other than Ria’s motel. He ends up entering a program in Pleasant Shores which allows wounded police officers to stay at The Cottage in exchange for some volunteer work. It works out well for Drew and his former K-9 partner Navy. Maybe he will have a chance to get back together with Ria as he still loves her and they could all be a family again.
Reunion at the Shore by Lee Tobin McClain is the second book in her Off Season series. This story was a very emotional read for me. Ms. McClain deals with some tough, emotional subjects throughout the storyline. The obvious one is divorced parents dealing with their children and their children’s problems together. There is so much more in this story. The author addresses bullying/cyber bullying, body image hangups, miscarriage and teen suicide, all in a satisfying way and not at all depressing as these subjects can sometimes be. I liked how well done these topics were addressed. It sure seems to me that these issues were well researched.
The characters came to life on the pages of this book and drew me in ready to share their problems and successes. I liked getting to see characters from the first book in the series. It’s always fun to keep up with all the characters in the series. I am looking forward to the next book in this series, Christmas on the Coast
When I read the Low Country series, I never thought McClain would be able to create another book world I would want to live I forever, but she’s done it again with The Off Season. Shs hits the heart with a double punch by including first responders as well as canine heroes. Add in a second chance between divorced parents, and my heart is done.
Ria Martin has pulled her life together after divorce, running a motel near the beach and raising her two teenage daughters. She’s doing the best she can, but when her younger daughter, Kaitlyn, begins having trouble in school, she reaches out to her ex, Drew, to get involved in the kids’ lives again. Little does she know that Drew has some new challenges of his own.
With warm, small-town charm and inviting, colorful characters, Pleasant Shores is the setting for this phenomenal second-chance romance. The writer doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to the real-life challenges these characters have to deal with, but they each learn that through understanding, communication, love, and forgiveness, they’re stronger together.
If you enjoy small-town romance and second chances, you’ll love this fantastic read. With endearing characters, a little humor, and overflowing with heart, this wonderful, uplifting, feel-good story is not to be missed!
