As legal guardian of her nephews for a year and a half now, you’d think Allison would have this kid-raising thing figured out. Nope. She’s yet to gain access to the secret internal lie detector other parents seem to have, and is still losing the battle against the mysterious teen boy odors marinating in their room. Did she mention they’re twins? As in double the trouble (thank goodness for … for forgiving town sheriff). Really, she’s just out of her depth here.
To be fair though, this wasn’t meant to be a solo mission. Nooo. She was supposed to have had a co-pilot to help out from day one. Kade McKnight, real life action hero hunk extraordinaire, would’ve been the perfect male authority figure for the boys…had he not vanished off the face of the planet.
Well, it appears his holy-hotness has returneth. And now that Kade’s on her doorstep here to stay, Ali isn’t sure whether to hug him or slug him.
She’s leaning toward both…
After a year and a half away from the beautiful honey-colored eyes he’d always loved having stare up at him, Kade finds himself smiling for the first time in months. Sweet Allison Walsh. Still a sight for sore eyes.
Leaving town the way he did had been for the best then, truly. Having survived a childhood he wouldn’t wish on his meanest MMA opponent, there’s no way he could’ve been a good co-legal guardian. So, he’d set up financial support to help Ali the only way he could while he got his life in order. But, judging by her spitting mad glare, clearly, that had been far from enough.
Guess his road to redemption is going to be a tough one. Good. He deserves it. And Ali deserves to be the one to dish out his penance. That said, the very last thing Kade expects now that he’s back to help with the co-parenting load is for Ali to start dating again. As in other men–men that aren’t him.
Nope, not happening. Not on his watch…
Stand-alone Whisper Lake romance, complete with HEA–and plenty of heat and heart along the way!
Author’s Note: Return to You was previously published as Whisper of Love

I always know when I pick up a Melanie Shawn book that I’m going to absolutely fall in love with the characters and be taken on a romantic journey, and the first book in their new Whisper of Love series was no exception!
I loved Ali and Kade and their connection with each other! Can’t wait to dive into book 2 of the Whisper Lake series!
Kade and Ali are so adorable. OMG I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. The reality of death and the struggle the family of the deceased, are left to deal with. That is what Ali and Kade face with the unexpected death of Patrick the glue that held this family together. All became a parent to nephews overnight. While Kade dealt with it by drinking and then he disappear from their lives with
no warning and then reappears when Ali is at her wits end dealing with her nephews. She feels that she is losing control and is angry that Kade just walked out and has not had any contact with them since the funeral. When he comes back into their lives, the boys are happy and talking showing more emotions than they have with Ali and she really resets it especially
when he will be leaving sooner than later. However Ali is in for a big surprise in more ways than one
WOW!! Words escape me in trying to describe how much I loved Ali and Kade while reading Whisper of Love by the amazing Melanie Shawn, the first book in their new series A Whisper Lake Romance. After the death of her older brother, Ali was left to raise her twin nephews while the man who was to share this duty has been missing since the funeral. Ali’s was overwhelmed with all of her responsibilities, barely existing. Then, one day a knock on the door brings the missing best friend of her brother. Kade might have been a champion MMA fighter but he was ill-equipped to handle his feelings for his best friend’s little sister. His always thought he was not good enough for her, but he was going to do everything in his power to prove he was the one for her. After all he put her through Ali was not in a forgive-and-forget mood. Ali’s road to finding herself again and Kade’s road to redemption were not easy to navigate but well worth it in the end.
Through their amazing and vivid writing Melanie Shawn did an outstanding job tackling this emotional story and struggled to put the book down. I enjoyed the way the authors wrote scenes showing the true feelings Ali and Kade have for each other. I also laughed at the antics of the Knitting Mafia and their control of the town. I appreciated the support the friends of Ali and Kade had for them and the boys. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading the next story in the Whisper Lake series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Really enjoyed this book. Ali and Kade were the perfect “imperfect” guardians for her deceased brother’s twin boys. They’ve always been attracted to each other, but never thought they should act on it. This book has a HEA and definitely doesn’t end in a cliffhanger-rather unusual for the first book in a series.
3.5 Roshambo Stars. Return to You is the first book in the Whisper Lake series. It’s light, fluffy, and good for summer reading (or vacation, beach, etc). Ali and Kade grew up together along with Ali’s brother, Patrick. They also shared a common history of addicted parents. They have a bond that runs deeper than most. When Patrick suddenly dies leaving his twin boys in the custody of Ali and Kade, Kade ghosts Ali and the boys. It is now eighteen months later and Kade has some ‘splainin’ to do. There is some drama, but it is easily resolved. The twins are pretty typical thirteen-year-olds. The Needlepoint Mafia is in full operation and is hilarious. Return to You fit right into my busy summer schedule with engaging characters and an entertaining story.
A man dies. His children, twin boys who are teenagers, have God Parents who are not friends. One is horribly flawed. One is overly responsible. The boys’ whole future depend on them.
I started this book, but I could NOT get through it. This one was not the book for me. I have, however, read plenty of other Melanie Shawn books!!
Good story
I enjoyed reading this book.
Love everything from this author
Really liked the story
Weathering the storm of raising teenagers is especially difficult if they are not your own. It is a heart-warming story of love and redemption with a touch of forgiveness.
Well written, heart felt book. So much love and overcoming. The male protagonist was very human which was a nice change from a lot of other books in this genre. I loved the polar opposite personalities of the twins and I also the female protagonist. The pain of the characters was tangible and the storyline was beautiful and believable. I even got teary-eyed at some points. It was a real LOVE story. So refreshing. And.. to top it all off the authors are two sisters! So cute.
Whisper Of Love is a phenomenal contemporary romance by Melanie Shawn. Ms. Shawn has once again delivered a well-written book with a story that sucks readers in and keeps them glued to their e-readers. Allison Walsh is co-guardian to her nephews when her brother Patrick dies. Kade, the other co-guardian, disappeared after showing up at Patrick’s funeral drunk. Kade and Allison’s story is packed with drama, humor, smokin’ hot sex and just a touch of suspense. I enjoyed reading Whisper Of Love and look forward to reading more from Melanie Shawn in the future. Whisper Of Love is book 2 of the Whisper Lake Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
After the sudden death of her brother Patrick, Ali is left to raise his twin sons by herself. She’s had to deal with 2 teen boys, one withdrawn, quiet & compliant and the other a rebel, angry, & defiant. All while dealing with her own grief of losing her beloved brother. Then Patrick’s best friend, Kade, waltzes back into their lives like a hero sent to save them from sadness & despair. But Ali wants nothing to do with him, since he was supposed to share the responsibilities of helping her with the twins when he left right after the funeral & never looked back.
Kade knew knocking on Ali’s door, he had so many regrets & a lot to make up for. But nothing prepared him to see the shell of his best friend’s sister, all traces of radiance & happiness gone. He messed up big time by leaving her & the boys. Now that he’s back he will find a way to fix the all the wrongs & hopefully find a way into Ali’s heart.
I thought Ali had every reason to not trust Kade & to hold herself back. She’s had to deal with her new life with the boys by herself & she could not be dependent on Kade, not knowing when he will skip town again. Kade proved himself by helping Ali with cooking & fixing things & getting the boys on board with doing household chores. He had a long way to go but he was determined to never let them down again. This was a great read in a small town where everyone knows everyone’s business. Looking forward to reading Ali’s best friend Jess’ story next!
This was a story of two broken and battered souls learning to find a way to piece their life back together and move on. Allison and Kade didn’t come from the best family lives, and when Patrick (Ali’s brother and Kades best friend) died, it nearly destroyed them both. Patrick was all that they had. And now they have his twin sons to take care of. But Kade was MIA for 18 months, but now he’s back to redeem himself and hopefully being some joy back to Ali’s life.
This was a good story of love, redemption and learning To move on. Kade is the “bad boy” of MMA and it was great to see him turn his life around and become the man that Patrick’s sons can look up to and the man Ali can depend on. Kade has his moments, sexy and sweet, he really is a good man.
And the little old ladies of the town, the “Needlepoint Mafia”, had me cracking up. I liked them.
I am new to reading the books by Melanie Shawn, and I have to say they have made a fan. They had my crying and laughing through the entire book. Strong characters and story.
Love
Ali & Kade where name as guardians of her nephews by her brother in case anything happened to him. Which it did when the boys were 11. Kade find handle his best friends death very well. Now he is back after getting sober and staying that for a year and wanting to help but admit he love Ali.
An amazing start to a new series. Ali has her hands full raising her twin teenage nephews after her older brother dies. Kade, her brother’s best friend has returned after being MIA since the funereal. Kade was suppose to be involved with the care of the twins, but he has been fighting own demons. Ali and Kade both have hidden feeling for each other all of these years. Soon they can not resist their temptations but neither want to be hurt again.
Loved, loved this book!! Full of emotions. Ali is so strong but still vulnerable. Kade has also gone through so much with his past but has grown so much. The twins are just pure teenagers. Yes, I did a shed a few tears with the VCR tape. Sweet but sexy.
A great start to new series. Can’t wait to read more. I highly recommend!!
A new series by Melanie Shawn, who are fast becoming favorites. Another great series. I absolutely loved the story. A couldn’t put down book. I especially loved Kade McKnight. Ali’s teen nephew’s, K.J. and Ricky were written very realistically. My heart went out to them. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
