Fake engagement. Check. In love with another woman. Check. Threat of being killed. Check. What more could a prince want? And yet Prince Tristan wants it all.
This is the story we have all been waiting for. So far, it is full of secrets and intrigue. Yes, Tristan took care of Max. But what about all of the other secrets he’s keeping. Will Ariel be able to figure out who wants to hurt the prince before they succeed?
Will Tristan and Ariel be able to overcome the darkness of their pasts? Will what happened a decade ago continue to haunt both of them? Or will this be a fresh start for them? We will have to wait until the next book to find out.
Beneath the seemingly idyllic setting of The Winston Isles seethes a hotbed of intrigue, drama, danger, passion and romance. Ariel has been a dynamic supportive character as former Royal Guard, Penny’s best friend, member of the King’s Knight, and owner of her own security company Royal Elite. She is front and center getting her own royal romance. Ariel had an intense and unexpectedly short lived romance with Tristan, a secret she holds in her mostly patched together broken heart. A call from the past and duty will set Ariel and Tristan on a crash course with their destiny. I’ll give no spoilers, the book blurb should be enticement enough. I enjoyed every moment with a cast of familiar characters as they continue their adventures. I am looking forward to the remainder of Ariel and Tristan’s story.
This is finally Ariel’s story. It was more Tristan’s though. Tristan is the cousin or Sebastian and the brother of crazy Ashton. Though they were not part of the conspiracy, the whole family was sent away from Winston Isles with very little protection. In walks Royal Elite who have now been named King’s Knights (how cool is that?). There are a few problems with this situation. Tristan and Ariel met 10 years ago and are still very much in love despite the hiatus and Tristan has a fiancé, Ella.
There are some scary scenes. Tristan’s life is definitely in danger and there is a plot afoot that could be thrown of the rails if Royal Elite gets involved. This book is not as heart gripping and thrilling as some of the others have been in the series but I think that is what readers needed. How Nana anticipates readers needs is beyond me but she does it well. I have a feeling that the continuation of this series will be full of Ariel and Penny saving the day but we had to get the logistics out of the way.
This book is gives readers insight on Ariel and her interactions with the Team. You see how much everyone loves her and wants to protect her. This book makes you love Team Winston Isles even more because of the intense love they have for Ariel. I adored this book and as always did not want it to end.
This is the first book in The Prince Duet. I was so happy to finally have Ariel’s story! This is a great second chance to love. Ariel and Tristan share an amazing chemistry. They are great characters. Ariel is a strong woman. Tristan is a complex character and I can’t wait to know more about his story in the next book. The story is really well written, suspenseful, and captivating, filled with intrigue and mystery. The story ends with a cliffhanger, and now I can’t wait for the next book in the Duet, To Love a Prince! This is my favorite duet in the Nana Malone’s Royal world.
What an emotional rollercoaster!!! There is a ton of suspense and intriguing situations, with romance intertwined. I felt so many emotions when I read this book. The characters draw you in and keep you wanting every word and every scene. You never know what is going to happen next, and that’s what sets this author apart from the others. Their world is built beautifully and she weaves a masterpiece that is above and beyond what she has written so far.
Prince Tristan and Ariel have a past that had ended tragically. They are forced to work together again, and let the uncomfortable situations happen. Their story unfolds and you have to read it to experience it yourself. Tristan is made to be a tough character to get to know and like, but it comes with his job and his history. You must read this – bring on part 2!!
I’ve read many of Nana Malone’s book, including all of the Winston Isle books, and the Blake Security books and have loved them all. The Return of the Prince caught my interest from the beginning. We heard about Tristan in previous books through Ariel’s story of heartbreak when he disappeared, seemingly without a word or backword glance. Ariel gave her role as Royal Guard her all until it was snatched away from her thanks to her traitorous father. She moved on a started putting her life back together by starting her own security agency. As this story progressed I knew that she was going to be thrown back in with Tristan, like it or not (and she did not), but that things were going to get really interesting. And they did. There is depth to the story, including continued treachery, continued threats on Tristan’s life, and the underlying story between him and his fiance. The story shows how much trouble could be avoided with better communication and questioning what someone who has proven to be untrustworthy has said, rather than taking it at face value. Can’t wait to see what happens next for Ariel and Tristan as the true story comes to light, and threats are removed, one by one.
Return of the Prince is another adventure in the life of Nana Malone’s Royals! She writes her stories with effortless style, brings us characters that you desperately want to know and stories that keep you hanging on with the perfect amount of intrigue and mystery!
We have met them both Tristan and Ariel in the previous books but now we finally get to see how their relationship will play out! Tristan and Ariel have history and a love/hate relationship but most importantly they have chemistry in spades, but neither wants to admit they still feel something towards the other.
She is sent to protect him but he is keeping secrets and secrets always have a way of coming out. They are both in for a bumpy ride both within the relationship they have and outside of it.
Take a chance on this book even though you will have to wait for the second book in the Duet for find all the answers but I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Tristan knows what he should do. Ariel Scott has a job that I’d love – telling a bunch of men what to do. Sebastian seems to have a reoccurring role in the Royal Elite series. If you want to get to know him better you may want to start with the Cheeky Prince.
Ariel also makes appearances in previous books in the Royal Elite series. You certainly don’t need to have read any of the other books. But if you want to know about this Elite world our author has taken the time to create I would. Plus there seem to be events that might make more sense if you read this group of interconnected stories from the beginning. In this book she has more of a staring role.
I love how this author can create some hot and sexy scenes without getting too descriptive. Make no mistake, our author knows just the right time when she’ll give you want you want. She’s also very good at creating tension when it’s needed. And she doesn’t shy away from creating strong women with responsibilities where men used to have the staring role. This book is a good example of how times have changed. It used to be men had the lead in any action and adventure movies. Now we have characters like Ariel who know how to handle themselves and aren’t afraid of doing what’s necessary in order to protect someone.
I found myself with a case of curiosity. There’s a secondary character named Roone who seems to have Ariel’s back. He’s part of what she does for a living but I wanted to know more about who he is. The ending left me with no end to my curiosity. Good news is that we’re going to get more of Ariel. More good news is that I won’t have too long to wait.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Finally, Ariel’s story!
I’ve been waiting for her story since the very first book in the Royal’s series. Ariel and Penny make quite a woman-power team, and waiting until the end for her book makes the Penny-Ariel books nice book-ends in this arc.
Ariel has certainly had her share of heartbreak and adversity. With the Return of the Prince, you get the backstory of Ariel and Tristan, the Prince / Soccer star and what really went down between them all those years ago. Tristan has his own secrets, and when King Sebastian assigns Ariel and her team to protect Tristan, who is a target from an unknown assassin, the secrets are discovered!
Of course, there’s a cliffy since it’s part of a duet, much like all the other books in this series. With this one, it wasn’t a bombshell moment, but there is still a wait to the conclusion of this story.
Ariel runs a security business. When the King hires her team to protect Tristan, all the past hurts come rushing back. Ten years ago, they planned a future together, but that’s not how their story ended. Can they get past the 10 years of misunderstandings and finally have a chance at their happily ever after, or are they destined to be apart forever.
Nana Malone wrote a wonderful second chance love story. There are twists and turns and just the right amount of suspense and romance. This story will keep you turning the pages. I truly enjoyed it and cannot wait for the second book of this duet.
Return of the Prince is the first book in The Prince Duet
Although this is billed as book 1 of 2, it’s really more like part 1. In other words, this is an incomplete story and you will need part 2 for the conclusion. Think of it like a mini -series. I loved this book. If you’re familiar with other books by this author you will know Ariel. I can’t be the only one waiting for her HEA. As with the other books, characters from previous books make appearances which I like. It makes it feel more realistic. This was a great read and I can’t wait for the conclusion.
I have loved Ariel since she was first introduced and am so glad she is getting her story. Ariel is the biggest badass girl in security. She is also Queen Penny’s BFF. After starting her own successful security agency, King Sebastian ‘knighted’ her and her team to help protect Prince Tristan, who was part of the family exiled from the Winston Isles due to his brother who is now in prison. Tristan is in an arranged relationship with an actress as they made a pact to help each other. The thing Ariel didn’t count on was having to protect Prince Tristan. They had a love affair 10 years prior and he left without notice on the night they were to escape the island together. She thinks he left her without notice (which he did not). He is upset because he left her a note, a ticket to meet him and then wrote letters for a year after leaving to join a professional soccer team (although Ariel never received any of this thanks to someone TBD). Finally, they figure things out and admit their love for each other. Tristan is having nightmares and the book leaves us hanging as Ariel tries to figure out why and also who is trying to kill him. I can’t wait for the next book in this series to see how this story unfolds
I was so happy to hear Ariel was finally getting her story told. She’s like the best friend everyone wishes they had. I love that Nana Malone writes her female characters with sass and fierceness and independence, but also gives them a vulnerable side, too.
There was a lot of angst and a whole rollercoaster ride of emotions in this story. Tristan and Ariel are alike in so many ways though they couldn’t have come from any more different backgrounds. Both have never really felt like they belonged and both thought the other abandoned them a decade ago.
I’m not usually a fan of cliffhangers, but Ms. Malone does it so well. I look forward to reading the 2nd book in the duet where I suspect we will see more badassery on the hunt to bringing justice to whomever was dumb enough to keep trying to kill Ariel’s man.
What a start to the Prince Duet! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Love getting to see returning characters which is always fun. I have been waiting for Ariel’s story since Cheeky Prince. Nana Malone keeps you in suspense as only she know she can. This cliffhanger is one you will not want to miss and I now cannot wait for the ending!
Finally. FINALLY the story I’ve been waiting for in this awesome royal series – Ariel’s. Ariel, the fierce and fiercely loyal guard who’s now a Knight and owner of her own private security business. I’ve been waiting a long time for her story and I’m so glad Nana Malone gave her the very best story, the most entertaining, the most tension-filled, just the most.
When Ariel gets a call from her long-ago love, her teenage love, her only love, Prince Tristan, it seems to set off a chain of events she never saw coming. Tristan has been exiled from Winston Isles for a long time, and he desperately wants to come home. But if he wants to make it home and stay alive he’ll have to contend with the royal guards, Knights, his cousin, King Sebastian, sends to watch over him. That one of those guards is Ariel, his first and only love, is something he wasn’t prepared for, doesn’t want to deal with. After all, he’s an engaged man now, even if his engagement isn’t really as it seems, and Ariel is the one who never responded to his hundreds of letters asking her to come to him after he left to go play professional football (soccer).
Tension aside, though, these two have to get through her assignment with their lives (and their hearts) intact, so he needs to keep his hands and lips off the only woman he’s ever loved. No problem. Right? Right…
OMG!! I can’t tell you how excited I was when I found out Ariel’s story was finally getting told. She’s been intriguing, and awesome from the very first page of this whole royal series, and her own story more than lived up to all that intrigue. She’s smart, tough and supremely loyal to those she loves and those she serves, and I was on the edge of my seat as her and Tristan’s story played out. Of course, it’s not even close to being over, and the cliffhanger, as usual, about killed me, so I’m now awaiting To Love a Prince very, very impatiently! I know I always say how as each royal story gets told, that it’s my favorite, but this time it’s absolutely the truth, no one’s story can even come close to being as amazing as Ariel’s. She’s the true star of this story and I’m just glad the first part of it finally got told.
While I realize this book is called Return of the Prince and is about Prince Tristan, it’s also very clearly about Ariel and I couldn’t wait for her story!
Ariel is best friends with Queen Penny and therefore in the King’s good graces. Due to no fault of her own, she’s left the Royal Guard and set up her own company protecting others and she’s fierce! She’s also been appointed to the King’s Knights.
But then there’s Prince Tristan who’s been exiled in part due to his heinous brother and family. Of course, Ariel and Prince Tristan have a past and haven’t spoken in 10 years!
But Prince Tristan calls her to here her voice one more time and all bets are off! I don’t want to reveal too much in spoilers but this book was awesome! Nana Malone writes books that make you feel like you’re a part of this wonderfully loyal group of friends. Not to mention that the heroines are strong characters that you can’t help but love and be inspired by.
If you haven’t read this Royal Family group of books, you’re missing out! Can’t wait for book 2!
If you’ve read any of Ms Malone’s other books in the Winston Isles world, you know that Ariel has a secret romantic past with exiled Prince Tristan. We have almost no details, however. If you haven’t read the other books, don’t worry – this duet is mostly a standalone from the others. (“Mostly” because there are a lot of references to events that happened in past books but they are conversational between characters, not relevant to the current story.)
Prince Tristan is in Barcelona, Spain, playing professional soccer and secretly plotting a return to his home. Someone is trying to kill him, however. He and his actress fiancee Ella think it’s her abusive former manager after her but when the attempts happen when they are not together, and then still at home on the island, it’s evident he is the target. His cousin King Sebastian increases the Royal Guard protection on Tristan, including the Knights led by Ariel. Their unresolved past and feelings that have held on for ten years get in the way, but Ariel resolves to stay away from Tristan as much as possible since he is engaged.
Being book one in a duet, this is half the story. However, I was happy to find that this one doesn’t end on quite the dramatic cliffhanger as the previous two Nana Malone duets I’ve read. I enjoyed meeting Prince Tristan, and loved getting to know Ariel better. She’s been a big figure in the other books but we haven’t gotten to know much about her personally before. I did like catching up with the other guards from past books, too. This is definitely an entertaining read.
This author is addictive – she really is and every time you begin a book of hers, you know that some things will be resolved and new intrigue will be created. Even the second of a duet will do that! This one is Ariel’s story and she’s carried quite a burden for many years. Her bestie is a queen and her crush is a banished prince. But she will prevail because she’s a strong woman with a mind of her own. And then she sees Prince Tristan again and it all goes to pieces.
From reading so many of the author’s stories, you know that they will heat up the sheets but you never know just how that will happen nor will you find out the consequences until later. And there are always consequences. The Royals is a spell binding genre in and of itself. You’ll probably need to eventually read them all if you like to connect all the dots.
I don’t mind the cliff hangers because I know they are coming and enough of the story is told that it leaves you contemplating the next scene. I think everyone will enjoy this story just like all the previous ones!
Finally, Ariel! I started her story before bed thinking of getting a few chapters in, to say I am completely hungover from Return of the Prince is an understatement. I stayed up all night just to get to the end, which I know better because now I am anxiously awaiting the conclusion. We met Ariel many books ago and have followed her throughout this author’s duets. Ariel’s story is worth the wait. I promise the writing is phenomenal and the suspense is everything we expect it to be in a Nana Malone story. It’s hard for me to say if it can be read as a standalone because we already know a little of Ariel and Tristan and who they are, but I definitely recommend Return of the Prince.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I could give this book 500 Stars I would. Nana Malone has done it again! When we left off in the last book we got a hint at what this next book would be about, but let me tell you, I was not ready for all this awesomeness!
I have LOVED Ariel from the very first books introducing us to the characters of the Winston Isles and I am so excited for her to be taking such an upfront role in these last few books. Her sassy, no nonsense personality won me over right from the start and I love seeing her lead her new team.
This book finally lets us see more of the emotional side of her as she deals with trying to protect the King’s Cousin. The problem with being forced to be assigned to his detail is that there is a history between the two of them that none of the other characters knows about. When she if finally forced to come face to face with her past emotions run high and secrets are revealed.
This series is definitely a must read one for sure. I also, highly recommend starting at the very beginning so that you know everything that has gone on leading up to this book. These books all build on each other and the characters are all ones that you will fall in love with.
This book as well as all of the others have everything you could ever want in a story. There is love, heartbreak, drama, suspense, danger, chemistry, laughter and everything in between.
I can not wait to get my hands on the next book because I have to know how things play out and what is going to happen next. – By Alisa
