We leave off with Kade and Hadley making it back to the camp without the princess. Hadley must pretend to be the princess that they had to get. They learn that something is going on with the earl and they must figure it out. They also must protect there captains family. Kade and Hadley are fighting there attraction for each other. Will they be able to find out what’s going on? Will they be able to keep everyone safe along with Hadley? Will Hadley be able to find her brother? Will the captain of the Stormers let her stay after he finds out she’s a boy?

After the exciting story in book one, this one picks the story back off where it left off, and delivers the same exciting mix of danger, action, and compelling storytelling! I really loved seeing more of Kade and Hadley’s story in this one, and can easily say this author’s ability to make readers fall for her characters, and her description of emotion makes it so easy to feel as if they were right there, cheering for their favorites, and crying in their pain! I did feel a bit like this one is more of a transition between the other books, but I’m not complaining as I loved this one, and really enjoyed the extra time with these characters and in this world, and didn’t feel the “slump” that second or middle books are prone to, instead I felt like this one focused a bit less on plot, and more on the characters as they prepare for their next and final installment.

This was a great addition to the trilogy. The story line was great and the book had a smooth flow. The character work was terrific. Just like the first book in the series this book hooked me from beginning to end. I’m ready for the next book.

This is such an incredible story. Following on from book one it follows the adventures of Hadley. Her story is more intense this time as she continues to search for her brother. But her own relationships grow with the Stormer community and one in particular.
The characters are so solid you believe they are real. I can’t stress how much I enjoyed this book. The intense storyline with its twist and turns make it a definite page turner.
A thriller masterpiece if ever I saw one.
Most thoroughly recommended.
Keep up the good work Sarah. We love you.
I wasn’t prepared for things to explode from the first page. Things literally took off with all the action until the LAST page!
I enjoyed Retrieve, but greatly enjoyed Retreat. The stakes were significantly higher, but there were more personal things that Kade dealt with that I liked. It made him less grumpy in my opinion. 😉 There was also travel to a new place that brought a different kind of intensity. The companions Hadley traveled with were casted in a new light that made me smile often or want to give them a hug. It was also really cool to get to know some of the other Stormers better.
As much as I liked the traveling and new companionship though, I wasn’t overly fond of Kade and Hadley being separated. However, I do think it was good that they were since we got to see a deeper side of them when not in dangerous situations. I don’t think some of the same growth could have happened if they did.
Overall, an excellent sequel in The Stormers Trilogy! I’m already eager to start reading book three with new secrets being exposed and a reunion in sight.
