Charlotte Windsor likes to plan everything, from the most minute details of her personal life to the elaborate weddings she pulls off for her clients. Scarred by her past, staying in control makes her feel safe. Besides, the only thing in her life she didn’t plan–an explosively erotic one-night stand with daredevil playboy and Navy SEAL heartthrob Liam Prescott–resulted in heartbreak. He’d … disappeared without a word, and six months later he was dead.
But in the blink of an eye, Charlotte’s perfectly ordered life is turned upside down when she’s kidnapped by the Mexican cartel and then rescued hours later in a daring middle-of-the-night raid by Liam, who is apparently very much alive and sexier than ever. Trusting her life to the gorgeous and confident Navy SEAL is easy. Her heart is another matter.

If you enjoy steamy romance, I recommend you try Brynley Blake. She’s an excellent writer with great characters. And, did I mention, a LOT of steam? Resurgent is the third book in her Phoenix Rising series, and it’s a great finale for the series. Check it out.
This is my first read by this author and I loved it!! Liam is a Navy SEAL who has lost his memory and is wanted because he happens to be a traitor to his country? Huh, cue the confusion. As he is trying to figure out what the hell has happened he finds our that his best friend’s sister has been kidnapped. Liam starts to regain part of his memory and goes in search of Charlotte. Charlotte is a woman who likes to be organized, Lol. She is a fierce heroine and gives as good as she gets. The chemistry between them is explosive. Liam and Charlotte work together to clear his name. A very well written book, full of action and HEA. 4.5 stars*****
*****I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book provided by Entangled Publishing thru NetGalley.*****
**I received a copy of Resurgent from Entangled Books and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. The opinions below are mine alone and voluntary.**
Resurgent by Brynley Blake is the third book in her Phoenix Rising series. I’ve read the first one but skipped Declan and Gemma’s story (It’s on my TBR though). Resurgent is List making and so organized best friend of his sister, Charlotte and Liam, yes, he’s alive but has amnesia from his last mission. I highly recommend reading them in order so that you can get the full story in this series.
Charlotte is mistaken for Mackenzie and kidnapped by El Gato who never received the guns that Liam sold to him. But she doesn’t know where they are only that both Kenzie and Gemma are researching Liam’s bucket list. When Liam shows up to rescue her he doesn’t remember their fling or what happened in Pakistan. Can they finish off the list and help him remember before the drug cartel finds them?
Liam wakes up in India with no memory of his final op in Pakistan when he sees that Mackenzie is missing he immediately goes to Mexico to rescue her. When he finds Charlotte he doesn’t hesitate to rescue her as well as teach her how to throw her lists away and show her that the life she had was nothing without Liam in it. When a double crossing CIA mole show up Liam begins to put all the missing pieces together and with the help of Walker and Noah take down the mole and drug cartel. But can he convince Charlotte that he’s her happy ever after?
Wow, I was really sad for this book to be over. I really enjoyed it.
I really liked Liam in this book. He had so many sides to him that I enjoyed. He is a NAVY SEAL who after waking from a coma finds that he needs to clear his name. Problem is, he doesn’t remember what happened. This man goes above and beyond to protect everyone that he holds dear. He carries himself as a leader and isn’t afraid to take risks.
Charlotte is seen as the responsible one and the list maker. This is a woman after my own heart. There were times in the book that Liam would make some sort of offhanded comment about her need of lists and I wanted to say something to him.
The parts I enjoyed the most was the times when Charlotte could let go. She was able to live in the moment and the only way she was able to do that was because she knew that if she got in trouble, Liam would be there to catch her.
The suspense was amazing. You didn’t know how/if he was going to get himself out of this mess.
I would highly recommend this book.
Liam woke from a coma in India. He barely remembers who he is, never mind what he may or may not have done.
But when a news article kickstarts his faulty memory, he begins an adventure he’s not sure he can finish. His motto may be “Do not underestimate the power of “fuck It” but somethings need more consideration – like the damage a certain female could do to his heart!
Charlotte thought losing Liam after their one night stand was bad enough but now she is the subject of misidentification and she has been kidnapped in the stead of her best friend, Liam’s sister. When a figure enters the room she is being kept she almost dies of fright – it seems Liam may not be as dead as they thought!
Charlotte and Liam are a great pairing. Charlotte with her lists of lists and Liam’s gung ho approach to life are just fireworks in the making. I loved the premise and the characters are strong and have plenty to say! First book i’ve read by this author and won’t be the last!
So we finally got Liam’s story and we have been waiting a while. I implore you to start from the beginning with Mckenzie’s book to get the whole story and to know who is who. Liam has been thought of as dead and he left behind a necklace and a bucket list, and so McKenzie (his sister) has been living thru him so she can feel closer and ends up finding danger. Then we have in the second book his best friend Walker and Gemma looking for clues trying to clear his name because all sort of info came out on Liam that were not very good, and Walker can’t believe it and so he and Gemma begin there journey, but now we get to Liam and Charlotte. Charlotte is McKenzie and Gemma’s business partner as well as best friend and she had a crush on Liam and they had an explosive night but then he disappear’s and then is thought of as dead, but now she is kidnapped and it is Liam who saves her and explains what happened to him and that he is not who they are thinking that he is (a traitor) and while they are together they rekindle their romance and try to stay ahead of the danger surrounding them…Grab a copy!
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.

Holy hot stuff Batman! This book was delicious! An all alpha Navy SEAL, a kick-ass heroine bent on saving her own life, killer kinky sexy times and a super suspenseful plot!
What does a Navy SEAL do when he wakes up with no memory but a handful of evidence that he’s a traitor to his beloved country, then finds out the woman who haunts his dreams has been kidnapped? He goes hunting! Liam’s family and his country think he’s dead but they also think he’s a traitor who sold guns to the most dangerous drug cartel on the planet. Now he has to find a way to save his little sister’s best friend, find the missing pieces to his memory and clear his name before the people he loves become collateral damage, or he winds up as dead as the world thinks he is.
This book was fantastic! The hero and heroine had explosive chemistry and excellent banter with intriguing backstories. This amnesiac traipsing across the globe attempting to clear his name was very Jason Bourne-esque, if Jason was also a kinky Navy SEAL! The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and the sexy times sizzled off the page. Although all books in this series are standalones, I immediately picked up the other two books to catch up on all the fun! Ms. Blake does not disappoint; this is one thrill ride I was happy to be on!

This one was a quick and exciting one to read. Gives many thrills and chills that being side effect too from the steam that comes forth at times too. Having read one of this author’s novels had to see if the charm would still be there and it still was. Charlotte gets your attention right away but also has you feeling a bit miffed with Liam. Even when the answer starts to surface about him I still was a bit but soon am caught up in the drama they experience. Flipping through it quickly to have it prove me wrong I land at the end with it giving me lots.
A nice wrap up for the series
Book 3 in the Phoenix Rising series, while each book can be read as a standalone, with the mystery underlying the entire series and crossover mentions of events and characters (though with only relatively brief appearances of those characters), for the best experience I’d highly recommend reading the series in order.
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series so I’ve been looking forward to getting the conclusion. I liked both Liam and Charlotte here; I especially liked that they are both intelligent, capable people who prove they work together just as well outside of the bedroom as they do inside as they try to follow the clues of Liam’s bucket list to solve the mystery of the missing guns. And yeah, wow, there was a lot of heat between them in the bedroom!
While I did enjoy this story, it didn’t pull me in as well as the previous books. That could in part be due to it being a second chances / sister’s best friend story, plot lines that just aren’t my favorite. I think I also would have enjoyed this more if I’d done a reread of the previous books first—while I remember the basics and that I really liked them, it’s been a while with a few hundred other stories read in the meantime. Or maybe my expectations were just a little too high coming in, lol.
Plenty of heat and suspense, along with interesting characters and a nice wrap up for the series means 4 stars from me.

First, let’s fangirl the fact that our lady Brynley is back at it!!! Now let’s give praise where it is oh so due. Liam is the perfectly flawed man that makes us swoon. He’s lived life by a ethos that as served him well. Even in his current predicament, he will will out as it were. Now if only he could have the foggiest idea what’s going on that would be fantastic. When his kid sister’s bestie Charlotte is kidnapped, it seems it’s not only himself he needs to get out of a jam. Charlotte is boisterous, strong minded, and goal oriented. Anyone who messes with her plan, better get out of her way. And when Liam becomes part of the plan, there’s no escaping it.

Amazing conclusion to the Phoenix Rising Series! Loved how each couple comes together in each book but finally Charlotte and Liam get their chance!
Great character’s, adventurous story, amazing plot twists! Thank you Brynley Blake for this erotic romance and can’t wait for the next one!
Resurgent is a steamy, action & adventure, romantic suspense story that got my attention from the page. You have two people who very much like to be in control and do things their way. There is an intense and undeniable chemistry between them. During their time together, Liam shows Charlotte how to let go, live a little, and have fun. Charlotte in return teaches him that he doesn’t have to always do it all alone and to trust the people he loves. Wonderful characters, great banter, and well written. This is part of a series but worked as a standalone. I enjoyed Resurgent so much I picked up book 1 & 2. This is my first book by Brynley Blake and I look forward to reading more of her books.
Charlotte and Liam on paper are total opposites. But like magnet to steel they are seriously attracted to each other. After spending one very hot night together they are separated. Later they are back together as danger lurks around every corner. With the heat still sizzling they have to rely on each other to survive the many perils that surround them. The action in the bedroom is off the charts. They get the danger off their back and are able to begin the real adventure of life together. Excellent fast paced and smoking hot reading.
This is my first book by Brynley and I have to admit I really enjoyed it! It took a little getting used to with regards writing style but the characters and storyline were intriguing and grabbed and held my attention. Who doesn’t love a kinky Navy SEAL
Liam and Charlotte enjoy a one night tryst in Mexico while on vacation. They see each other a month later and Liam appears detached and not quite as interested in her as he was in Mexico. Thinking the worst, she leaves without spending time with him and her bestie, who also happens to be his sister. Not long after, Liam dies in an explosion and is named as a traitor! Question is, is he or isn’t he? Danger and action around every turn but storyline engaging and the characters had good explosive chemistry.
Thank you to the publisher, Brynley and Netgalley for my advanced copy for which I leave my honest review. I’ve purchased the first two books so I can catch up with the other two couples, but from my experience this one I read as a standalone which was perfectly fine.
