I loved Julian and Clara’s story so much! Julian was a rake to be sure before matching wits with the lovely Southern Clara. But after a propositional marriage he desires more. He sets out to seduce the woman and realizes she is what he needs most of all. Loved it!
A lovely read, well written.
I loved the characters! I couldn’t put it down!
In the 5th book of this series, American Miss Clara Whitney, the daughter Jesse never knew he had till the death of her mother 5 years ago, is determined to leave London and return to her beloved Virginia. Julian, the handsome Earl of Ravenscroft, has a dreadful reputation – he has been the lover of the ton’s bored wives and lonely widows. The payment for his services is the way he keeps a roof over his head and cares for his two younger sisters – along with the mountain of debts from his father. Clara dares to approach the Earl at night in his home with her plan. Julian would marry her in name only for part of her dowry to care for his estate and she would leave for America. Julian at first refuses the young, innocent and beautiful Clara – but then her father barges in seeking blood. Julian lies and tells him Clara has been compromised. At Jesse’s insistence, a two week courtship is on!! Julian’s past is catching up and evil has entered their lives trying to destroy them. Clara Whitney, an American heiress is desperate to leave London and return to her native Virginia. She’ll do anything, even if it means striking a deal with the most notorious earl in England, to get what she wants. Julian Danvers The Earl of Ravenscroft is infamous for his prowess in the bedchamber and for earning his living by entertaining bored society widows and wives. When the innocent and lovely Clara seeks him out with the daring proposition of a marriage in name only in return for a generous share of her dowry, Julian accepts.
Jesse Whitney, Clara’s father insists on a fortnight’s courtship. Julian acts the gentleman & even before the wedding this very likeable couple are falling in love. However Clara is determined to return to Virginia until Julian is attacked & almost killed. A lovely read the pace is very good & both Clara & Julian are strong characters. Julian has a very low opinion of himself & it takes Clara to help him find his worth. There is someone out to spoil their burgeoning love & they need to be stopped. This is the fifth in the series but easily could be read on it’s own, I’m now eagerly waiting for Bo’s story
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Could not finish, heroine was unlikeable.
I really liked the characters. Fun to see them grow and learn more about themselves. Did not see that ending coming
Not her best, but steamy.
Good story, well written.
I really love this book. There was interesting twists and turns and you didn’t always know the outcome.
Clara Whitney, an American Heiress, has lived in England the last few years and all she desires is to go back to Virginia. She makes a deal with the poorest rake Lord in London to marry her, He can have her dowry to restore his ancestral estates and she can take her half and go back to America. Of course, that is not all that happens. I enjoy all of Ms Scott’s books. I must say with this book I did feel that they fell in love much to quickly. But, did enjoy every last word.
A hero and a heroine to
Vulgar
This is a great book by Scarlett Scott. I got this one from Book Bub and have purchased the next two in the series. This rake is beyond most in romance novels and our heroine more heroic that any I can recall. Loved it!
Very Enjoyable!
I have to read more from this author! She writes in a way that makes one want to read regardless what is going on around you. She also has the ability to paint pictures with her words and I love that.
Julian and his “Little Dove”, Clara have a ‘push-me, pull-you’ type of relationship right from the very beginning, sometimes serious and sometimes downright amusing and I thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment.
Definitely a story to be read!
