The Montgomery Ink series continues with the so-called sensible sister and the one man she never should have fallen for.For Thea Montgomery, baking isn’t only therapeutic, it’s also her dream job. She’s worked countless hours keeping her bakery afloat, and now that it’s where she wants it to be, she’s ready to expand and take the next step. When it comes to work and her family, she’s on top of … top of her game. Her personal life, however, is a different story.
When Dimitri Carr isn’t teaching and hiding his ink under long sleeves to keep the bosses happy, he’s trying to be the best brother and friend he can be. After his divorce, he’d thought he would lose Thea from his life forever because she’s his ex-wife’s best friend. But now that he’s free, and the two of them realize they want to keep their friendship. Then he finally sees what he’s been missing all this time.
But there are more problems than the fact that Dimitri is Thea’s best friend’s ex. And when accidental touches and flirtations aren’t enough for either of them, and they’re finally ready to take the next step, they’ll find out exactly what that cost is for crossing that line. And will need to find the strength to face it.

Another amazing installment of the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series. I love that Carrie Ann Ryan keeps expanding her Montgomery Ink world.
Thea and Dimitri are familiar characters from Fallen Ink but don’t worry. You’ll still fall in love with them if you haven’t read Fallen Ink. Ryan presents us with a very interesting quandary in Restless Ink. What exactly is the “code” for falling in love with your best friend’s ex-husband? Does the code even apply if you didn’t fall for him until way after the divorce? Who makes up these codes anyway?
Ryan runs you through the gambit of emotions in Restless Ink. There are laugh out loud scenes that had me chuckling long after I read them. Heart pounding moments that had me literally on the edge of my seat worried about Ryan’s characters and reading faster to know what happens. Ryan also knows how to play with your heartstrings. And because this is a Montgomery Ink book, in addition to all the feels, Thea and Dimitri’s chemistry are off the charts! Don’t worry, Ryan brought the heat for this one!
I don’t want to give anything away, so you’re going to have to get Restless Ink to find out what happens! All I can say is that I can’t wait for Jagged Ink.
I love the Montgomery Ink family regardless of whether they are in Denver or Colorado Springs. Dimitri and Thea are a great couple. While they are a friends to lover story, this is a lot different than some others. This one includes a not so stable ex-wife and a dog. They were friends first and she introduced him to the woman that became his wife. After his divorce they remained friends, just not as close. A chance encounter at the grocery store brings them together again as friends and the beginning of more. The best parts of this story were the secondary Montgomery’s and the introduction of the Carr’s. I can see a new series spin off featuring the Carr brothers and sister.
I cannot get enough of the Montgomery family and to have a spin-off series of the cousins in Colorado Springs puts all of us readers in Montgomery heaven. This latest edition to the Colorado Springs series is about Thea Montgomery and her friend Dimitri Carr. They are both single and find that they are attracted to each other. And in true Carrie Ann Ryan fashion this just cannot be an easy love story because we have twists and turns happening throughout the entire story that keep us on the edge of our seats. And we get a small introduction to the Carr family and possibly new characters for a new series.
TEAM CAPTAIN all the way!
I picked the book up and didn’t put it down for a second. I read it from cover to cover and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.
I love the way that Thea and Dimitri get together! It was sooooo them.
How does Carrie Ann Ryan manage to get her characters so intriguing and so human?
I’m not gonna do a more thorough review because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone
All you need to know is that I absolutely thoroughly 100% loved their story
I voluntarily received a copy of this ARC for review
Another winner for me. I love how Carrie Ann Ryan’s characters intertwine and appear across her series! And any Montgomery is good for me. In this latest installment, Thea, Shep’s sister, battles her feelings for her friend versus a feeling of loyalty to another. She and Dimitri were friends, but she was ‘best friends’ with his Ex, Molly. I wondered how they’d work, because, yeah, girl code. I guess a heart wants what it wants, but I wasn’t sure if I’d buy into it.
I did feel sorry for Dimitri, he lost everything, AND his dog as his new apartment didn’t allow them. The relationship between him and his ex was so complicated. I’d initially felt like they were two mature adults, who still loved each other, but weren’t ‘in love’ with each other. Molly kept the dog and Dimitri got to see him and take him out. And he continued to help her out around the house.
Molly’s friendship with Thea was another subject. I thought it a friendship, of sorts, but not a ‘bestie’ friendship, and I wondered when Thea would wake up and see that. Especially since her sisters did. After Molly professed to be so happy for her two friends when she found out that that they’d made out, I started paying even more attention to the little things she did. Her passive aggressiveness toward Thea, her sweet nastiness towards Dimitri became even more noticible.
Against that backdrop and other issues, I enjoyed reading the sweet friends to lovers story. Thea had her hands full with her bakery and her ideas for expansion, and Dimitri coping with his unhappiness in his personal life and his professional life with a new administration at the school he taught in.
I loved the acceptance of the Montgomery crew, as always, as they accepted and befriended Dimitri. And that’s when I love seeing old friends again! Not going to spoil, but this HEA was hard fought and I loved it. Can’t wait to read Roxi’s story next!
I’ve been on pins & needles waiting for Thea & Dimitri’s story! Carrie Ann does not disappoint on this friends to more than friends journey. There is plenty of steamy goodness and Montgomery drama that we all know and love.
Oh joy we readers get to continue in this series that started out strong. The magic will also be found in this one as soon as you turn the first page.
In this we encounter The a who will entertain you in this one. Her “friend” Dimitri will also be in the game. You will follow them through this one becoming part of it as you are with them in the relationship.
Her the baker, him the teacher they each have their place but together is when you really pay attention. The struggles will pull at you but the hopes for them keep you reading hungry for more.
This is a great one for feeding your need for romance.
What a delight to see how Dimitri and Thea get their HEA!
Will their HEA be with each other or will it be with others? Great read!!
Can’t wait to see Carter & Roxy get their HEA!
Thea and Dimitri are two strong people with some serious chemistry. I very much enjoyed seeing them fall in love and becoming a unit. They had some challenges along the way and I was so happy they overcame them. It’s great seeing the Montgomery clan pop into the story and seeing the Carr’s and Dimitri’s sisters. Can’t wait for the next one and to see who appears in the spin-offs!
Carrie Ann always sucks me in! I loved every second and every word of this book. It truly helped me get out of a funk. The story of Dimitri and Thea is such a good one! I love that their tale is a complicated one, because those are always the best.
From the very beginning Thea had me hooked, and it was cemented when we got introduced to Dimitri. The instant reaction of these two was fire!! I love that we got to see them in this light and we got to see their love grow. There were just so many layers of history between these two, that it just seemed like fate that they got together.
And that curve ball!!!! Carrie Ann always knows how to throw the perfect curve ball! It helped create such a roller coaster to their story and really brought the families together.
I can’t wait to read more about Carter and Roxie next!!
I absolutely loved this story!! It was very well written and I loved the friends to lovers story. This one has a twist though as Dimitri is divorced from one of her good friends. She was friends with both of them prior to them getting together and then through and after the marriage ended. It was an interesting twist on this. Thea never wants to step on the toes of her friend and so she is very conflicted about pursuing anything with Dimitri. Dimitri has been trying to break contact with his ex-wife but as he doesn’t currently have a place to live that accepts dogs, Captain (his dog) is still at her place and so they have quite a bit of contact with that. I loved the connection that Dimitri and Thea had and the way that they went about the situation was great. They were aware of the potential issues and tried to keep communication open and real. The sex is explicit and fits the characters and the story. There is also a little bit of action and some intrigue going on. We know that something isn’t quite right, something’s just a little off but don’t know how things connect. This story will definitely keep your attention as you read. Once I started it, I didn’t want to put it down and it left me wanting Thea’s sister’s story very bad. I can’t wait to read the next book!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I love all the Montgomery Ink books but I think this one may have a special place in my heart. The challenges faced in this one really hit me with the having to choose between who to keep in their lives and who to let go. I loved the chemistry between them and how the important things seemed to balance well. I can’t wait for the last sister’s story and to hopeful see a peak back at these two along the way. Carrie Ann Ryan has created an amazing group of stories about the Montgomery family in this series.
Love this series.Thea and dimitris intense beautiful crazy forbidden love story.Had me on edge till the end.need more
Can I give this more than 5 stars? I wish I could. I got this book as an ARC from Carrie, then bought it and it’s now one of my favorites. Thea and Dimitri are so cute together. They came together slowly and it built to something wonderful (even though someone was working against them). Their friends were so happy for them. It was fun to see other Montgomeries in the story. That’s always a plus. A good sexy story that you won’t want to put down
Even though I’ve said it before (and I swear I say it every single time), every new Carrie Ann Ryan book keeps getting better and better. Which is crazy because I LOVE all of them. How is this even possible? The only thing I can envision is that meme making the social media rounds, Carrie Ann Ryan style. “This book was the best yet. There is no way Carrie Ann Ryan can top that.” Then we see a picture of the author saying “hold my beer”. Cheesy I know but that’s why I’m writing reviews and not books.
This book was phenomenal! I loved Thea and Dimitri. It was one of those stories where you can’t read fast enough because you KNOW something is brewing but you don’t know what. However, you don’t want to read too fast because you want to savor every bit of it.
It was great to revisit characters from past books although they do play a minor role so you don’t have to read the books in order but Ms. Ryan keeps cranking out hit after hit so I highly recommend giving them a try. I cannot wait to finally find out what’s happening between Roxie and Carter!
Another Montgomery we can’t help but love. Thea is such a sweetheart. I like her can do attitude, her incredible work ethic, and her loyalty to friends and family. But that is also why she is thirty and has no love life. Her reconnection with Dimitri after his divorce puts him in a new light, and her to him. Complicated does not even start to describe their feelings. Or ours. I felt so drawn to this couple who were in a really difficult situation and the twists in this tale made it an even more enthralling read.
I must say Carrie Ann Ryan is a spectacular author. Her characters are warm, intriguing and very likable. Her stories draw you in and are detailed without being repetitive. In Restless Ink, Dimitri and Thea were friends until his divorce came between them and Thea had to choose sides. When they meet again, there is a different kind of attraction between them, but can they overcome the past? When someone is trying to hurt Thea, the suspense keeps the pages turning. Love the Montgomery’s.
This is a voluntary review of an ARC.
Before anything else I have to say that I am loving this spinoff series of the Montgomery world.
I find Carrie Ann’s writing very modern and urban, she creates characters that are so independent and at the very same time so cool (for lack of a better word…).
Thea is a baker and a business owner, she has great plans for herself and the bakery. At the same time she feels she is missing something.
Dimitri is a math teacher, divorced and dealing with sharing custody of his beloved dog and an ex-wife who is so passive aggressive.
They know each other for a long time and they have Dimitri’s ex-wife in common since she is Thea’s “best friend”. But the attraction is so strong and they really get along great.
This story is so good, but I confess that sometimes I want to shake Thea’s so she can see the light!
I loved the book and know that it is a good and worth reading.
Absolutely knew their journey wasn’t going to be easy but wow just wow. Who knew one messed up night would lead to so much more than Thea could’ve ever thought she needed or wanted. Just how much is she willing to fight for it though is the question?
Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs #2, Oooooo the feels in this book. Thea was friends with both Molly and Dimitri before they married but after the divorce as much as she didn’t want to pick sides she ended up siding with Molly, not like Molly really gave her a choice. But now that the divorce is over and has been for some time Dimitri wants his friend back it’s bad enough his apartment doesn’t let him keep his dog, Captain is staying with Molly until he can find a bigger place, most of his friends were Molly’s friends in the first place and they all sided with her, but Thea was his friend and he wants that friendship back only this time when he is with her his feelings are more than just platonic.
Thea always knew what she wanted and she went out and did it, owning her own bakery is everything she hoped it would be but now she’s the only single sibling and feeling like the fifth wheel and doubting whether or not focusing on just her career was wise. Now that she has one dream achieved another has quickly grown in its place but it is going to be hard work and once again places work before love life. Unless the guy in her life is completely supportive and sweet and gruff and a certain tattooed math teacher who use to be married to married to her best friend. Thea feels guilty for falling for Dimitri, but they know each other so well and she can’t help her feelings or the regret the fantastic sex and Molly seems okay with it so what can be the problem?
Overall, another fantastic book from Carrie Ann Ryan. I loved Thea and Dimitri they are characters with plenty of dimension and flaws and the dog Captain such a sweet dog. It does fall close to the erotica side of romance but because it is story driven; the story mainly focus on their romance and the issues around it rather than the sex, I classify it more contemporary. It is beautifully written third person POV that switches focus between Thea and Dimitri with all the feels and heartache with some excitement and damn woman, Roxie and Carter! OMG, I can’t not wait for their book. But I do have to admit Dimitri could never be my book boyfriend because I am Team Tony.
