But there are more problems than the fact that Dimitri is Thea’s best friend’s ex. Oh how I love the Montgomerys. The entire family is one you just love from the first time you meet them. You feel welcome in the family, whether it is the original bunch, the cousins, or the married into the family, they are super.
This book is such a gripping story, you cannot put it down until you find out what happens. You want to understand the underdog, yet you want the H/h to have their HEA without any issues, but then where would the story be. When all the emotions and doubt are floating around, it tests your values of friendship and new love.
Every book by Carrie Ann Ryan is totally gripping, pulling you in and keeping you there, begging for more!!! I want MORE!!!
Okay here is a thing, I know Roxie and Carter are next and there is a lot of foreshadowing here. I am going to be honest, I am not sure I am ready for it. While this book is about Thea and Dimitri, you can definitely tell something hard and heartbreaking is on the horizon for Roxie and Carter. So I am just saying be prepared in this book, have a bottle of wine because those little snippets of Roxie and Carter hurt.
Anywho, Thea and Dimitri. I would just like to say how much I love that all the families intertwined in this series love food and alcohol. Don’t read this one if you have munchies or you there it’s like 1 a.m. in the morning and the bakery section is closed – you will become hangry. Thea has a heart of gold and her “best friend” Molly is well without giving away spoilers, trust your gut when you meet her in the book. It’s always hard to have two best friends that got married and then got divorced but you care about them both then throw in some developing feelings it’s going to get messy. However, I was in glee reading through the little romance and the internal struggle of them both trying to come to terms with it. Dimitri, aka Giles, you’ll get it trust me. Also, Giles for the freaking win. Then he’s Team Captain, which I mean let’s face it, all the smart people are Team Captain. I love the nerdy references and the family love. It doesn’t matter how old you are, where life has taken you – your family should also be there for you. A family is about love both through the good times and the hard times and the heartbreaking time. I know there is only one more book in this series, but I can’t pick a favorite as I love the all. I want friends like there are in the book. Sure they seem overwhelming and good-hearted nosy at times, but they are always there for each other too. They don’t take crap from others and that includes the friends putting themselves down.
Restless Ink is book 2 in the Colorado Springs Montgomery Ink Series but can be read as a standalone. This was an amazing read one I finished in a day. Its filled with a lot of emotion and angst but also some very sexy stuff.
Thea Montgomery is the third child of 4, she owns a bakery, Colorado Icing which is her baby. Thea has dedicated her whole life to making her bakery a success. Thea is in her 30’s now and while her professional life is going according to plan her personal life leaves a lot to be desired, she has dated enough to know she has no luck in the men department. One chance meeting in an all night grocery store with her friend Molly’s ex-husband has sent in motion feelings she should not be having. There are rules about this kind of thing and she is determined not to cross that line no matter how enticing he may be.
Dimitri Carr is a high school math teacher, divorced and almost 40 years old. Marring young and having it not work out has been a drain on his spirits, divorce was not in his plans. The one high point of his marriage to Molly was adopting his Golden Retriever, Captain. Sad that Captain cant live with him full time until he finds some place he can afford and allows pets Captain is staying with Molly. Running into Thea at the grocery store awoke a side of Dimitri that has been dormant for along time. Navigating this situation is both confusing and sensitive.
Dimitri and Thea are trying to figure out how to have a relationship that both of them want while being sensitive to Molly’s feelings. Molly has given her blessing to them both but is seems to good to be true. This story is a prime example of “The heart wants what the heart wants” and sometimes we don’t have any control over who we love. Kudos to Carrie Ann for taking a chance to write this story knowing it is a “taboo” situation.
Oh Carrie Ann Ryan, how I love you and your Montgomery’s! Restless Ink is book 2 in the spin off series, Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs. I was so happy when she started this spin-off up because I really did not want to leave the family I had grown to love, the Montgomerys.
I throughly enjoyed this couple together and separately. Dimitri and Thea are both just two incredibly kind and sweet people who deserve all the love and happiness they ultimately get. Of course Carrie Ann can’t make it a smooth ride, oh no! This couple goes through some pretty traumatic moments, like most of the Montgomery’s have, but this one felt even more twisted and psychological thriller-is than usual to be honest and I LOVED it. I adored their kindness, their consideration, the steaminess…HELLOOOOOO TWISTER! I also really LOVE that the puppy was never in peril, I don’t know what I would have done if he had been. I think it could have turned into the most difficult Montgomery book ever, but Carrie Ann spared me and I am ever so grateful. Yes, the puppy was a major factor for me, it is what it is, haha.
As with all the Montgomery books these characters are a part of a tight knit family and I adored getting to see them have their game nights and girls/guys night, just like what we have been accustomed to. Carrie Ann is bringing me back into the family fold and just giving me more to love and I am thrilled with that. I am very anxious to get my hands on book three, because I am so worried about those two characters. There’s something really sad happening between Roxie and Carter and my heart is in my throat with all the possibilities.
This is just another great addition to the whole Montgomery Ink world and if you are a fan of the Montgomery’s or just love a good Romance grab u this book, you will not be disappointed! <3
~ HAPPY READING ~
I loved this story! Thea is such a determined straight forward person. Having a best friend like Molly didn’t make sense but it gets sorted out. The twists and shocks in this story kept me riveted. There is more than one shocker in this one. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. I freely leave this honest review.
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Carrie Ann Ryan is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
Thea has made a success of the bakery that she owns but the same can’t be said for her personal life. After another date gone wrong Thea is about to give up on men until she runs into Dimitri. She and Dimitri have been friends for years however she introduced him to his now ex-wife and her best friend so since the divorce the relationship between them has been awkward.
Dimitri is a tattooed teacher however he knows the two don’t necessarily fit so he doesn’t show his true self at the school. Not only did he lose his wife because of the divorce he lost most of his friends as well so when he runs into Thea he looks at it as an opportunity to renew the relationship they used to have.
Their friendship evolves into something much deeper however when someone is trying to destroy what they have together will they be able to find out who is behind it before it is too late?
I loved these two together as they just seemed to fit each other’s lives perfectly and in each other they have found what they have always been looking for and as s a bonus we get to catch with the Montgomery’s.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
The characters + storytelling were a laugh a minute
For Thea, the attraction is definitely there, but Dimitri is her best friend’s ex
For Dimitri, he wants to pursue Thea, but she is his ex’s best friend.
What should they do ?
Will they let their past dictate their future ?
It has all the ingredients that you need for an awesome book!
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
Restless Ink is Thea and Dimitri’s story. The chemistry and explosiveness of these two characters start very early on. Dimitri is Thea’s best friends ex-husband so they bought dance around each other until one night changes all of that. Both Thea and Dimitri try to fight their attraction to spare Molly’s feelings but uncharacteristically Molly encourages their relationship. The book is a development of their relationship and the drama that then unfolds because of it. The appearance of both Thea and Dimitri’s siblings are great additions to the story and also how Thea realizes different things about Molly that don’t add up. Their are two occurrences to both characters that have them realizing that they belong together and a very satisfying conclusion. I also love how Roxie and Carter’s story has the perfect introduction in this book! Another great Montgomery book from Ms. Ryan.
Emotional, sexy, fun, action packed romantic journey filled with laughter, uncertain friendships, forbidden attraction and yet completely irresistible passion…. loved every heart pounding moment.
Thea Montgomery I adore her so much, she is sweet, sassy, smart, caring and loves to bake (so do I) ….. Dimitri Carr is also smart, sexy, charming and her best friends ex husband. Loved their obvious chemistry that blossomed out of a long time friendship that had a small break (the break up) in the road. Could not put this story down once I started reading, looking forward to more from this amazing and brilliant series.
3.5 Stars
Headline:
Lovely story, but a small disconnect
I was excited with the synopsis for this book. I loved the premise of this book. I actually read this book in one sitting. Thea and Dimitri were two characters looking for love and by fate found each other after Dimitri had divorced her friend.
I am giving this book 3.5 stars because I had some small disconnects. The author stressed the best friend angle between Molly and Thea, but there was not really best friend shown between them. It felt like they were more like acquaintances. I also had a problem with how Thea and Dimitri were friends before he even married Molly, but I didn’t find anything in the book where the author built on that. It would’ve gave me more of a foundation for their relationship which moved really fast. Also, I felt Thea and Dimitri should’ve picked up on Molly’s angle. I just needed something more to make this a 4 or 5 star book.
I will say I am very much looking forward to Roxie & Carter after their underlying issues have been talked about in these books.
I have only one word to say about RESTLESS INK … WOW! This has got to be the best of the Montgomery Ink series to date.
Thea Montgomery tries to be a good friend but her feelings for Dimitri Carr just keep getting in the way. Being her best friends ex-husband does have drawbacks but his biggest fear is losing Thea. It starts out simple, a friendship that neither wants to lose but then to both of them friendship just isn’t enough.
When strange things start happening they realize someone is not happy with their growing relationship. But her almost being lost to him through a tampered oven that goes kaboom sending Thea and Carter to the hospital make both of them realize that what they have is worth fighting for.
This book is filled with amazing characters, a good hit of steamy, a lot of emotion that will have you laugh or cry, with some devious actions from a twisted foe but with the happily ever after that fans of author Carrie Ann Ryan expect. As I said earlier just WOW!
Dimitri and Thea are just so perfect for each other.
Dimitri is finally free from his wife. Now he’s divorced and single. However, he is realizing that he has a thing for an awesome woman named Thea. The problem is Thea is his ex wife’s best friend.
Can these two make a relationship work even though they knew each other when Dimitri was married and Thea was the best friend?
And don’t forget you get to see some past Montgomery characters!!! Can’t wait for the next book.
Damn fine story here! Every page is well worth the read and each character is a story just begging to be told. To get the full sense of living in the Montgomery world, each book MUST be read but you could start with this one and get along just fine. Of course, you will find yourself scrambling to enjoy this epic series of interlocking stories but that is the joy of reading. Finding that first spark of imagination and hitching a ride for the long-haul.
This is Thea Montgomery and Dimitri Carr’s story. She is a bakery owner and he’s a teacher. They have been friends for a long time, but their friendship becomes strained after he divorces Thea’s best friend. They later rekindle their friendship, but start to develop feelings for each other. Will they risk the fallout of them getting together? Will they lose everything?
Have you read anything by Carrie Ann Ryan? Her Montgomery family is expansive and continues to broaden it’s reach. Reading Restless Ink reminded me how much I love this family and their stories – and how behind I am on keeping up with them.
This tale belongs to Montgomery sister Thea. She’s got a thriving bakery business and isn’t looking for love. Spoiler: it finds her anyway, and that’s where it gets complicated. What happens when you unwillingly fall for someone who not only was once your friend, but was also married to one your friends? Things get messy, and not just because Thea is always covered in flour.
I totally enjoyed this story. It moves at a good pace, has a great cast of strong, individual character voices and some really great love scenes. Dimitri is a genuine good guy, and who doesn’t love a dedicated teacher who comes with a golden retriever named Captain? His siblings are going to get their own stories, and I’m pretty excited about that as well. My home state is Colorado and that probably doesn’t hurt my attraction to these stories. 🙂
If you need a new series to read, I’d highly recommend Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs. This is the second in the series (currently only three, while the original Mongomery Ink is substantially larger) but can definitely standalone if you aren’t sure you want to get into the whole series.
Reckless Ink was just overall a great read. I loved every bit of it. It had the extended Montgomery cousins from the original series of Montgomery Ink. This deals with Thea (Shep’s sister) and Dimitri.
Thea is not only a baker but owns her own shop and has dreams for bigger things with it. She was friends with both Dimitri and his ex-wife, Molly before they were married and during their marriage. When Dimitri and Molly divorced, Thea decided to remain friends with both parties, even though she let Dimitri’s friendship slide by the wayside a bit. Something she feels bad about.
Dimitri is starting over after his divorce. He’s got a new job, a new apartment and no real social life. Most of his friends during his marriage have gone by the wayside, so when he runs into Thea he’s hoping they can still be friends.
What could go wrong when you end up falling for your friend’s ex-husband? An ex-husband who still has ties to his ex-wife?
This was another great story by Carrie Ann Ryan. It had all the feels. I don’t want to spoil too much so I will keep it short. The Montgomery family never disappoint and there’s a bit of everyone of this branch. It felt like coming home. This book is the second in this series but could easily be picked up without reading any of the other Montgomery books and be fine. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Back in the Montgomery world and let’s just say there’s a lot going on. This is Thea & Dimitri’s story, and I loved how they came back together to rekindle their friendship, all while hoping for more. Nothing is ever easy, especially when friendship, ex’s and life are all around, but when you’re willing to fight, anything’s possible. Very much enjoyed this! Can’t wait for the next one!!
Love the cast of character Ryan creates and interweaves through her stories. Thea & Dimetri were awesome, that sudden switch of ‘never considered him/her like *that* before’ and then sparks flying. Appreciated that they were respectful of the awkwardness of dating in regards to Molly, and the drama there was jaw-dropping. Sweet, sexy, realistic romance! And Roxie and Carter…cmon!! I need their book now after those juicy breadcrumbs!
This is a wonderful read and an excellent addition to this series. The attraction and chemistry between Thea and Dimitri is powerful and sizzling. Theirs is a slow burning romance that is packed with intensity as there is so much drama and history that continues to complicate things. With a well developed plot, complex characters and strong emotions, this book should not be missed!
