Being forced to work alongside the new boss—an arrogantly cold Englishman—left me torn between fury and attraction. When Oliver arrives to take over the company, I’m not about to idly stand by while he lays people off. Instead, I burst into his office to confront him, not expecting the man I encounter. He’s every bit the asshole I’d envisioned, but I hadn’t realized he’d be a hottie with a … be a hottie with a panty-melting accent. But that doesn’t matter. I refuse to back down. Refuse to fall for his charm. He has his agenda, and I have mine.
But when my family’s well-kept secret, along with the debt my brother owes, puts my life in danger, there are no other options left.
It’s up to me to pay the price.
But not with money.
Unfortunately, there’s only one person who can help free me from this mess—my new boss.

I loved the story. Lana, the fiery, passionate HR person and Oliver, an imposing man with pain hidden in his eyes are a great couple. I love that although others are intimidated by Oliver she doesn’t back down from him. Being with her, Oliver realizes that she is healing him from the inside.
This enemies to lover story moves quickly. The mystery surrounding the men in the story is a great hook, leaving us waiting for each’s backstory in the next book. Lana’s relationship with her family felt very real. She was crushed that her father and brothers looked at her at someone’s future wife and mother rather than the accomplished woman that she is. She has a fire in her and much more in her background with Caleb and Lucas that would be interesting to see.
The bickering between Oliver and Lana is witty, smart and quick and you can feel the passion. Their physical relationship is very similar.
This is the first book in the series, each exploring the men. I first read the 4th one and the mystery behind the character left me wanting more story. Emelia Blair crafted the characters so well we want to find out their hidden secrets. The story is a stand alone with a HEA. Definitely worth a read.

Resisting the Brit by Emelia Blair was a delicious treat. I gave this book 5 stars!
I loveeeddd it, this story had the right amount of everything, I was hooked from the first chapter until the end! This was all about office romance with Arrogant man, fiesty woman, family drama, lots of bantering, steamy dreamy hotness, some blackmailing and a crazy guy. There’s some emotional moments in the mix that will pull at your heartstrings!!
This was a stand alone, with no cliffhangers!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Oliver is the sexy new boss that was hired to thread out the slackers of Starr Enterprise. His British accent gets him plenty female attention.
I liked Oliver even with his tough exterior, he is a great guy who has his reasons for his coldness.
Lana is the head of HR and also friends of the owner Caleb and Lucas the company’s attorney. Lana has a heart of gold and does her job very well. She has to work twice as hard to get the respect from her male associates. This book had some unexpected twists that made me love this couple. It was a first from this author and it was a great storyline. I hope to read more from her.
I loved reading Resisting the Brit by Emelia Blair. It was such a great story about Lana and Oliver. it was filled with passion, steamy romance suspense and mystery. When they first meet, they clash at everything. Oliver is a bull in a china shop and Lana is trying to put out the fires that Oliver is lighting. Lana works in Human Resources and is outraged at the amount of people that Oliver is wanting to fire. But Lana realizes that the people need to be fired in order for the company to profit. But as they try to work together, they realize each of them has feelings for each other, but no one wants to admit it. Lana has some issues with her family to the point where it becomes dangerous. The book had a lot of twists and turns and some mystery to it and I was on edge towards the end. I loved reading this story because of the passionate scenes but also the mystery of it. It kept me wondering what was going to happen next. It was a great story that I highly recommend reading.

Book one in what promises to be a brilliant series from an author who is new to me. The plot is full of drama, intrigue and romance. The two main characters have a hate at first sight to get over before they can even consider getting their HEA.

Liked it ……… but way off the drama cliff
Resisting the Brit is the first book I have read by Emelia Blair and I liked it, at least for the most part. From the book description I was expecting the story to be one way but instead it went way over the drama cliff and became more soap opera than a soap opera. The thing that did save it for me were Lana and Oliver. They were well written and interesting and also they had some smokin’ hot chemistry between them.
In the end I liked it with some reservations. I will read another book or two by this author to see if it was just this story or not for me.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
An enjoyable and exciting office romance! The story line is well written, emotionally deep, enthralling, and well-developed. The characters are amazing, strong, and layered; the chemistry between them is off the charts! It is drama-filled, funny, and witty with suspense, secrets, ups and downs, and more. Very enjoyable and definitely recommended!

I really enjoyed this book. Oliver and Lana circle around each other because Lana feels she too busy building her career and Oliver’s was broken when his wife left him for another man. The more they’re around each other the more they want each other. Lana’s family keeps pushing her to a man named Matt no matter how much she tells them no. There’s something up but she doesn’t know what.
This book is so full of suspense and excitement. I loved how strong and smart and also how loving Lana is. She is a great character. I love how she brings Oliver back to who he is. Loved it.

Lana is the head of HR at the company she works at. Oliver is hired to come in and fix any messes the previous owner of the company left behind. Lana and Oliver spar with each other over how he is dealing with the firing of employees. Oliver is drawn to Lana but doesn’t know if she’ll see him as anything but a problem for her. Oliver starts caring about how long Lana is working and tries to manage her time better and send her home early. However one day when he is going to see her Oliver hears her yelling and steps in to intervene. Lana’s brother has shown up at her job trying to force her to date a guy he brought with him things don’t go so well. Will Oliver claim Lana and keep her safe from her family’s drama? Why is her brother trying to make her date this guy?
This is a great story that once I started it I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Resisting the Brit is the first book of Emelia Blair’s Dirty Hot Resistance Series. It features the enemies to lovers story of Lana Hill, the Yulan Company HR Department Manager, and Oliver Thornton, who was hired to clean up and restructure the business. These characters have to overcome a history of personal disrespect and betrayal while learning to trust and love again. I highly recommend this great book with its complex characters and a storyline which is an addictive read.

This was an entertaining book. Butting heads is what you have in an office setting. Attraction that is off the chart. Two alphas one male one female. This story had me on the end of my seat wondering what was going to happen with the two of them. Now lets put in a brother and a friend. That is another book in itself. Family drama, shouts, demands and some force, and an alpha that not having none of this stuff in the office. Great book. Wondering whats going to happen next in this book? You will have to get the book, you will not be disappointed.

A wonderful story with great characters.

A new author to me, the story was okay _ I enjoyed the read. The story focuses on Lana and Oliver, Lana is the head of HR for a company that is now owned by her friend Caleb. Oliver to act as CEO in the beginning. Lana and Oliver are butting heads – he will need to fire people she has worked with for the past 5 years. They start off as adversaries, but soon see their attraction. Her father and brothers continue to force men at her and want her to quit her job. They each have atleast one man they want her to date., including her brother Matt. When Lana does refuse, things get intense and Oliver intervenes on her behalf and sends both men away. As Oliver gets closer to Lana, Matt refuses to back down, even assaulting her in her office. This causes a huge rift between her and her family, especially when she learns exactly why her family keeps pushing her towards Matt. It comes to a head when she finds out the truth, that her family owes Matt a considerable amount of money. I have read an arc and expect a few edits, but I do hope the author deals with the edits found as it distracted from the read.

This book was amazing from start to finish. Oliver went through many problems which I was glad for because it made him a better person. Lana had been having problems with men because of her family. When Oliver and Lana finally meet it’s like a firework show. I really believed that the building was going to catch on fire with this two right in the center. Every single character played a great part in this book. I can’t wait to continue this amazing series. I received a free copy of this book from the author and reviewed voluntarily.
This is book one in the Dirty Hot Resistence series. Oliver is taking over the company she works for and Lana has designated herself as the resident pitbull that is going to make sure everyone is looked after and can hopefully keep their jobs. What Lana is not prepared for is Oliver himself, he is younger than expected and that accent…..dang it. These two remind me of the playground jerk that would pick on you and pull your hair because he liked you. They feed off each other, it makes for some entertaining reading. I loved it. As the story unfolds, it heats up and their relationship grows and changes. When Lana need a person to trust and depend one, she chooses Oliver. A great story that is well written and flows smoothly. The characters were awesome, they contained multiple layers that you get to experience throughout the story. I cannot wait to read the next story in the series. Enjoy!
