They met in the most unlikely place, where death and destruction were just as pronounced as the desert heat that surrounded them. Her voice lured him in, but it was her kind heart and understanding soul that anchored his broken one. She stood for everything he detested; yet, his feelings for her were undeniable. She was the light to his dark. Together, they forged an unbreakable bond. But one … an unbreakable bond. But one fateful night destroyed it all and thrust them into a week of hell, leaving them both scarred inside and out.
Now two years later, Faith returns to Cade’s life unexpectedly, and neither of them can deny the fire that still burns between them, along with the pain, loss, and regret.
Fate will test their love and in order to save it, they must face their greatest fears and the past that continues to haunt them.

Resisting Temptation is book three in the Men of Honor Series. It can be read as a standalone. However, I highly recommend reading prior books as characters play recurring roles throughout.

Big time trigger issues
SPOILERS
In the first couple of chapters the hero’s seven year old sister is raped and dies, and a chapter or two later the heroine is gang-raped. Yeah, gulp. It’s not overly graphic but it hardly needs to be to be disturbing. As a result the H is a big time shutdown emotions cripple. END spoiler)]
Tropey and more than a little saccharine at times, I really enjoyed it. The heroine was refreshing and fun despite her intense travails, and the hero was nice, hunky and besotted which made up for all the push/pull he instigated with the heroine.
What really made the story was the addition of two children, a teen and a six year old. The teen boy is amusingly sarcastic and angsty, and the little girl talks like Tweety bird and is the plottiest plot moppet ever but she’s still an asset to the story. Her crush on the hero is adorable and she and the h both break down his walls/
4.5

(Alternating POVs)
This story was beautiful. Cade was the third Navy SEAL who was captured in Iraq. We really don’t know much about him going into his story. Faith is the girl that was kidnapped, that the SEALs went to rescue. Finally getting to see the scenes of Faith and Cade meeting and how everything escalated to the kidnapping really solidified the series for me. The introduction of Christopher and Ruth Jean was another part of the story that really made it amazing. Faith connects with Christopher because of Aadil, and Cade connects with Ruthie due to his past with his little sister, Mia. One minor, tiny detail that I couldn’t get on board with was, if you have been dragged by the hair several times while being tortured by men, I would think hair pulling wouldn’t be a turn on, and may even bring up some PTSD.
Favorite Quotes:
It pisses me off that after years of nothing but numbness some redheaded, country girl had to come along and fuck with my dark world. A girl who stands for everything I loathe, yet her smile is all I see every time I close my eyes. One whose presence I constantly ache to be around, when usually, I yearn only for solitude. Whose voice I crave to hear, when normally I crave nothing but silence. A girl I have no business feeling any of this shit for because I will only ruin her. She lives in a world of light, and I was long ago swallowed by darkness. -Cade
“Not only because he’s the only man I’ve ever felt this deeply for, but also because he showed me what it was like to be touched in a way that wasn’t cruel or forceful.” My breath hitches and my tears fall faster. “I thank God every day that I got to experience a loving touch like his before what was taken from me.” – Faith
I liked this book best of the series because the characters are “real”. Unconditional love.. Thank you!
This is the third book of the Men of Honor series. I believe you could read this as a stand alone, but I feel strongly in my belief that you should read the first two books before diving into this one. By reading the series in order, you will get to understand the characters a whole lot better. This book is about the brooding ex-Seal, Cade. From the first two books we know that Cade doesn’t seem to be very happy. He along with his two buddies, Sawyer and Jaxson went through a week of hell in Iraq. For two years they have been healing. Faith and Cade had an intense meeting in Iraq. Then after their horrible week in Iraq they lost touch. Faith is a preacher’s daughter while Cade doesn’t believe in God. It only takes reading the prologue to understand why Cade feels the way that he does not believe. The book begins with Cade and Faith’s first meeting. We then fast forward two years to the present. I felt that this is the most emotional book of the three thus far. I cried often during this book. My heart broke for Faith and Cade, and I totally fell in love with Christopher and Ruth Jean (Ruthie). Those two kids will melt your heart. Like the other two books you get to see the Alpha side of these ex-Seals. At the time of my reading there is only one more book left in the series, but at the end of this book I read that the author is going to take a short break before resuming the series. I can’t wait to read more about this group of friends. Each book is about a different couple, but the other couples are in them too. I loved the epilogue. Even though I cried during a lot of this book, there were times where I chuckled. Sexy Sawyer (from book 2) cracks me up. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
Again 4.5/5 for me. Read as part of a limited time box set, so I am reviewing separately. Fairly well edited.
Faith and Cade meet in the middle of the Iraqi desert. Cade is very withdrawn due to a horrid tragedy in his youth. Faith makes him feel again. Just as they are about to part, Faith is kidnapped and Cade, Sawyer, and Jaxson go to rescue her. This a terrible time that binds all three men together, along with Faith and Anna. A couple of years later, Cade and Faith are still working through their traumas, but moving on with their lives as best they can. Faith moves to the same town where Cade is living – not knowing that Cade is there. They run into each other – totally unprepared for the surprise. Slowly, Cade begins to open up his heart to Faith – she is already deeply in love and fully aware of her feelings. Their path is complicated by Faith taking in two children – Christopher and Ruthie – whose abusive father presents a threat to their family. Will Cade allow himself to love? Will Faith and Christopher survive his father’s kidnapping attempt? Will Cade lay his past to rest, allow himself to grieve, and claim the family waiting for him?
Despite the fact that there are some really horrible things in this story, it was one of the funniest due to little miss Ruthie. She just about stole the book. It was good to see more of the previous couples – the timeline ran parallel for a bit and then progressed. Enjoy!
An Act of Courage is close to release I went and re read through Resisting Temptation and I have all love in the world for this book
Resisting Temptation is a book I will never forget it is easily in my top 10. I am a big fan of KC Lynn, I love her writing style and I love how she gets you right into the soul of the book so that you are so consumed and you get all the feels.
The story of this is book is a follow on from the first two in this series and about Cade and Faith and I think I fell hard for Cade I really did and Faith was such a beautiful character that you can’t not love her and how kind and loving she was and really saw past a person’s facade and really had the knack to get into someone’s soul and see them from the inside out.
For all the hardship that Cade had been through with the military and being a prisoner, it was such a great story to see how he handled it in the real world and struggling with his best friends who are really starting to build their life’s and when he see Faith again this is another struggle all on its own. He met Faith in a place where he never expected and then their beautiful story started.
I must admit that what really stole this story for me was a little 6 year old named Ruthie. Ruthie and her brother Christopher did not have a great family life and for Faith that was not good enough and she took them in as Faith does, and Ruthie oh my goodness if you don’t fall in love with her there is something wrong, she is my favorite character in a book and how she took to Cade was so inspiring and it was such a beautiful relationship between an adult and a child and how a child can worm her way into such a damaged heart like Cades and to watch that transpire was really heart warming
As all KC Lynn novels this one was just so heart felt and really got into the emotions for me as a reader and there is nothing better than that for a book for me. All the characters in this series are in each other books and it is so awesome to see how they are all getting their lives together and also another fav of mine is Sawyer and is always such a treat to get you laughing when he gets a line or too and brings a little humor to the books
If you haven’t started this series you really need too, for me they are some of the best books I have read and Resisting Temptation was no different loved loved loved this book .
If you’re looking for a book full of drama, a little laughing, that makes you feel the feels and has you crying but really makes you feel like you’re in the story then you have to get into this
book
5 stars for this baby but that doesn’t even scratch the surface of how good this book is it deserves all the stars.
I can’t explain how much I loved this book! It was such a heartbreaking yet hopeful story about very bad things that can happen to you in your life but somehow you can make it through. whether it’s because of your faith or with time, you can get through it…
In the beginning of the story, we learn how Cade and Faith first met in Iraq. Cade being on a mission and Faith on a trip over there with her church. There’s an instant attraction between them and one night changes it all. Both went through horrible times and they meet again 2 years after everything went down. Both still working through the scars, inside and out. Although Cade is trying to still fight the link they seem to have to each other, he is still so drawn to Faith. Both will have to decide if they can work through their past and give their future a chance…
I adored Cade and Faith. Not only because I love them as a couple but especially Faith, with what she had to go through, she still had that ounce of hope getting her through her day. Her strength amazed me. I know this is just a story that the author writes, but it touched not only my heart but also my soul. ‘cuz no matter what, life can get hard no matter what you go through in life, it’s that ‘something’ that just keeps you going…
